I'd like to heartily encourage anyone to work with Lian Lebret for a superior experience. In our decade in the city, we've gone it alone, worked with the agency founded by a Shark Tank host, and with Argo's Lian and she is, by far, the best broker I've met. Our most recent move was within units in the same Argo building. So I have seen Lian operate over the years before I needed her. I frequently saw her in our lobby or walking about the building; I actually thought she was a resident with a pied a terre. She shows up. She's got gumption, initiative, and, frankly, just gets it done. She was always filming something, showing something, or trying to understand the innards of our building. She's also fast and can move at New York speeds if you want to. I reached out to her early one morning (about 0500) when I saw the unit I wanted, she texted back at 0900 and, thanks to my preparation, the unit was off the market and we were handing over checks 32 hours later. Having concluded the deal, Lian continued to advocate for us again and again. Bumps and hiccups on document signoff, she was there; bumps and hiccups around moving on the holidays, she was there; recommending a (good!) mover, she had the ins. Lian does her job amazingly, but she also does the work of 2-3 adjacent jobs that you always WISHED someone were managing. All renters get a little well...grouchy around brokers fees. But Lian brought so much value that I can actually see where a real, substantive, beneficial service was offered. I hope you have the chance to benefit from her expertise. Argo is extremely unprofessional! DO NOT RENT THROUGH ARGO! I had a lease with Argo and it was a nightmare. Deborah Segal is the absolute worst!! to work with. She is hard to get ahold of, doesn't respond to urgent emails, and would actively look for ways to charge you to make a quick buck. 6 out of our 12-month lease she tacked on unsubstantiated "Legal Fees" charges hidden in my bill and luckily I wasn't on autopay or else I would have never seen these extra charges. After fighting with her for days she dropped the $1400 "Legal Fee" charge. Then put it onto my next month's bill and didn't tell me about it. (THIS HAPPENED OVER AND OVER!!!). IF YOU HAVE A DOG, they say they're "a dog-friendly building", but they literally forced me to clean up minor wet dog paw prints throughout the hallway instead of doing their weekly vacuuming. THE ABSOLUTE WORST PART OF ARGO/DEBORAH SEGAL IS THEY HAVE NO PROBLEM KNOWINGLY VIOLATING THE LAW. They'd charge me a $50 "Late fee" if I was even a day late on payments. But when it came to them being late on giving me my Security Deposit back (14-day limit). They still haven't. I'm needing to hire lawyers to make them FOLLOW THE LAW and give me back my money. Never rent through Argo and never rent in a building with DEBORAH SEGAL, DESERY MARTINEZ, OR MARINA HIGGINS. Trust me, they will make your stay miserable and try and make money off of you in the short term instead of trying to keep you as a customer to try and get you to extend your lease with them. read more

I had the pleasure of working with Lian L from Argo Realty and would absolutely recommend putting your property needs in her hands. Lian was able to show us a listing of an apartment the day that the listing posted; she was communicative and accommodating to scheduling. During the tour, you can tell Lian has long and far reaching industry knowledge and was not someone to spout nonsense to sell. After having seen numerous listings all over the city and worked with various brokers, I can confidently say that she was the most genuine and caring agent. After our tour, we knew the unit we saw would not last long on the market so we immediately let Lian know we were interested in renting. She was extremely communicative and helpful in the entire application process. Thank goodness too as there was another application interested right after us! But Lian truly gave us the white glove service through the entire process to help us get our application approved in a quick turnaround. The actual rating is negative 1000, instead of 1 star. Argo at the NY office and its associates (property managers, administration, Jodi Nath) are scum and crooks. They do not care for the tenants and co-op shareholders while maintenance fees and unnecessary assessments are raised and issued for no positive progress. Numerous calls about building problems were not thoroughly answered and not handled effectively to fix those problems. To them, occupants pay maintenance for no productive results. Jodi Nath have said and will say any lie for the sale of the co-op. She feels she can speak for the building staff and tell you that any home problem will be fixed by that staff, which is absolutely NOT TRUE. She does NOT speak for the staff after me personally speaking to those employees. The Department of Housing Protection Development had to be called and was called to report structural defects, which Argo did not take care of properly for more than 18 months. Michael Rudolph, who was with Thurman Verona, is a complete dumbass and other occupants agreed also. He was still on the payroll as a consultant, which was another example of wasted money from crooked activity. His fellow dumbass pal, Barry Reiss (a building board president), backed him up for that without any legitimate reasons. Reiss shows no concern for the feedback and issues from the occupants. read more

Lian was extremely efficient. I have only good things to say about her. I found an apartment that I liked and I knew the apt will be gone within 48 hours. I connected with Lian from Streeteasy posting. She was nice enough to do a video tour the same day that I reached out. I signed the lease shortly and moved in after ~2 weeks. Lian was especially helpful since I needed a lease signed quickly while I was physically in another state and she was so on top of everything. The agent fee is well-spent. Re: Argo management. Mostly good but also very annoying related to its partnership with RCN. The building is well managed: very clean common laundry room and mailroom. The only big downside is its partnership agreement with Internet provider RCN. and RCN is much worse than Spectrum. You are coerced to sign a deal with RCN quickly such that a technician can come and activate the internet. Ordinarily, I would plug in my modem to the cable without a technician's help. But the apartment has internet cable at the most inconvenient location (almost like intentionally cuz I cannot be the first tenant in the unit) such that you need a technician to drill a hole in the wall and re-do some cable work. And since the building has a partnership with RCN, RCN technicians could come in quickly in a day to do the work, but you are then committed to their service. Spectrum wouldn't do that on such short notice. So if you don't sign on with RCN, you are stuck with no internet for at least a week+. Because of how bad RCN's service was ( especially the pushy sales - Joel R.), it dented my impression on Argo which otherwise is great. read more

We met Christian during our apartment search as Covid lockdowns were lifting. We had been connected with him through an online platform and met at a wonderful building on West End on the Upper West Side where he showed us several units, and one unit in particular (9D) that we fell in love with. We had only started our apartment search the week before, but for weeks after meeting Christian, as we saw more apartments all over Manhattan, we could not escape the thought of living in 9D. The unit felt so right and Christian's communication wasn't pushy or cagey as we have experienced with other agents.
