Lazy doctor and incompetent staff. First of all, he was very late to the appointment. Hard to believe this guy actually went to medical school as he didn't seem to even understand the medications he was prescribing. I asked him an obvious question about my hormonal medication (something that any endo should know). He told me to wait and left the room (clearly went to his computer and googled the answer), then came back and told me that I was right all along. The staff here aren't any more impressive, as they had multiple problems with scheduling my appointment and didn't seem to be in communication with each other. Zero social skills, very, very rude and condescending. He did not hear my daughter AT ALL and was very disrespectful to me"her mother". He told her she didn't have adrenal disease yet ALL labs and the prior 3 doctors said she did. He told her to go back to her primary. I've been a patient for a few years. The Dr. and PA give good quality care. The problem with this office is communication. I've experienced terrible communications with them a number of times. Recently I called to tell them to PLEASE call me back, as my prescription has run out. After a couple of days, no response. Went to pharmacy to get emergency pills. Called Argoud again, and they said "sure, we'll call it in." Called pharmacy, "Haven't heard from them." Called Argoud's office, "Oh, you need to make an appointment and we'll call it in." Made the appointment, waited several hours,called the pharmacy, "We haven't heard from them." Completely out of a thyroid med, I called the answering service, and asked, "Please tell someone to call it in." They reached the doctor on call, and the message back was simply, "No, we are not going to call it in." So again, they give good medical service, but terrible customer service. read more

You have no idea what you are doing and tried to throw diet pills to me as a solution for something that is autoimmune in nature. Luckily I found a competent Dr and am receiving appropriate treatment now and am finally recovering from my AI. BTW, I wasn't there for weight loss.... I'm not overweight. After reading the other reviews, I was skeptical of keeping my appointment, however, upon arrival, I was greeted by friendly staff, the clinic was clean, and to top it all off, I only waited approximately 10 minutes before being called back by the MA. Once in the exam room, I only waited about 5 minutes before Dr. Argoud came in. He was very knowledgeable, I have type 1 diabetes, and he shared some things I was unaware of. I am not sure how long I spent with the doctor, but he addressed all of my questions and concerns and provided me with alternative options to health issues I am experiencing. read more

Appalled by the tone of the conversation and the lack of professionalism and stereotypes Maria Argoud portrayed towards me. I am sure others have had goodluck here, but I can not say the same unfortunately. I don't write many reviews but I feel it is important to research medical facilities nowadays and I just want to share my experience to know what to potentially look put for. She asked me a set of questions in the beginning but she didn't seem to want to listen or take note of anything outside of the questions until she was done. I told her I was put on birthcontrol and there she goes asking me if I am on birthcontrol. Also, NEVER assume I, or anyone, eat something in excess just because of their ethnicity and attempt to throw it into a finger wagging statement over the patient's weight before asking what their daily or general diet even consists of please. I get we live in San Diego, but hey Maria, not every citizen or Hispanic or Latino devour tortillas and carbs on a daily basis enough to get them to develop PCOS when ones body has been giving indications of it for years. After I explain to her I understand the health aspect of it, but this has been a lifelong problem she vaguely asks me about my weight history growing up. Didn't say much or dive into it. So again, I am getting the implication that my PCOS in her eyes is because I'm "fat" and eat too many carbs. Forget getting any further answers about your body unless you want them to be vague and directed back to your weight. For being focused on a "team approach" and "healthy lifestyle modifications" as their website claims I received what sounded like a scolding from your passive aggressive relative telling you to lose weight and stop stuffing your face with bread,pasta, and tortillas because it's your fault you are now sick with what you have. No counseling per say. No suggesstions. Nothing. We live in San Diego as I previously stated, I get it, but it felt insulting to have a medical professional automatically assume you are just another fat Mexican who overeats tortillas and carbs and needs to get their weight in check. If that was not the case, then I hope it can be taken seriously that the form in which this was communicated to me could be taken this way.. I am not a PC principle either in case one may assume and attempt to brush off this claim. I'm not new to what my body is going through or needs or even sensitive about my weight, but I know there are much smarter, genuine, respectful ways to deal with your patient in regards to these matters. I'm average in build and have been seen by many doctors recently who have physically seen me and the way in which she spoke to me about my weight felt belittling of her. Maybe it's just poor bedside manner, but that's important to me as a patient. In her eyes, it didn't matter this was a lifelong problem, apparently it is because I eat too many carbs, and need to lose weight. I let her know I was being seen my another endocrinologist so I was confused as to why I was going through all of this again. She didn't know, that's understandable, but she didn't seem to care even with the medical records in front of her. She seemed dismissive. Maybe she is right, but then again, why do I have a whole list of doctors pointing me in this direction and wanting to treat me over it? Why did she feel it was necessary to confirm a diagnoses I was already given and am on some treatment for? With each further question she seemed more eager to let me go and tell me they basically won't do much other then to put me on a medication,birth control, and fat shame me some more given the way I was being spoken to about this condition. She doesn't sound like she cares about your questions, comments or concerns. To be frank when my appointment was made with her and I was told she was practicing I had a feeling it was going to go bad. She had a moment or two of being nice as long as it seemed like I was going with the flow, but overall she just left me feeling small, confused, and with many more questions. read more

After waiting over an hour (with no explanation or apology for the long wait) and no request for a written medical history I was apprehensive. I told him I was taking an herbal supplement from a reputable company for thyroid support 2x a week and he let it be known how uneducated and against natural supplements he is. Most supplements are not regulated but tested regularly by Consumerlab.com. There are many studies proving that herbs and supplements do work. If you want a doctor that uses only conventional lab work and pharmacuticals to not help you - and will not - Dr Georges is the doctor for you. He is not interested in the growing movement of treating your problems with a more holistic approach. He is also against bio-identical hormones! He said they also not regulated but they are. Every single time I try to contact this office it's nearly impossible. It's really frustrating working in the medical field from my first visit as a new patient I've had issues with their staff on top of that another medical office that has ZERO interest in building rapport or a relationship with patients that you see consistently , Dr.Argoud sees you for a first appointment then bounces you on to whatever nurse practitioner is in rotation in his office. I called for 3 weeks to get medication refills no luck had to call my primary I called for over a week to schedule a follow up no luck had to get my primary doctor to call their office. I've been with Dr. Argoud for years since my diagnoses with hypothyroidism, and later papillary thyroid cancer. I've never been satisfied with the staff. Getting a hold of anyone is a part time job, and if you DO get called back, it will be days later. You end up waiting nearly an hour to see the doctor for 5 minutes. BUT they did switch to Scripps recently, and when I called today for a refill, someone actually answered! They were super nice on the phone and said my refill will be ready tomorrow. I'm glad they switched to Scripps because now the reputation they show reflects on Scripps. I feel there's more of an effort for patient satisfaction now. I'm only giving three stars for my past experiences, but I will be happy to change it upon my next appointment, should it be a positive experience. read more

I was a bit hesitant to take my mom for her hypothyroidism due to the negative reviews, but our experience has been quite positive. Dr. George Argoud saw my mom for the initial visit and for the follow up with his daughter, Maria Argoud, PA. Both had the perfect bed side manners and they are very responsive to any questions via email and by phone in a timely manner. I'm quite happy thus far on how they are addressing my mom's medical issues. I haven't had an issue with their staff. They are very pleasant and responds to my calls in a timely manner. I do recall Dulce was a big help in working to set us with the appointments. read more

First let me say that if I could give this "endocrinologist " a -5 zero stars, I would. I m in the medical field as well and to have a Dr, that googles every question you ask is so unprofessional and concerning, at his age, as a health professional, he should be able to have a normal , fluent medical conversation with his patients without having to resort to google for answers !!! On 2 ocasiones our appointments took 3 hours, my land tortoises at home move faster than this guy but of course by the time he looked up every question asked and found the answer , of course Thant kept us there way longer than Desired, he diagnosed the person in the appointment with osteoporosis and 2 minutes he said "oh no " it says "here, he does not have osteoporosis " . He did not followed up with answers that the blood labwork should have given him , he probably does not even know that the blood markers mean !! He is so terrible, today, as I am writing this review to protect other people from this very inept, impersonal and by far unpleasant, unprofessional character , I m happily at another endocrinologist office. I received a call on a Monday confirming my appointment with Dr Argoud and when I showed up for my appointment on a Wednesday, I was informed that my insurance was no longer accepted. I had been waiting to see the specialist for several weeks and will now have to anxiously wait much longer for answers regarding my treatment. The office could have easily notified any current and future patients with my insurance of the anticipated changes coming into effect in May. I am extremely disappointed with the unprofessional way Dr Argouds office chose to handle this otherwise avoidable situation. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Office staff and "medical assistants" are incredibly rude and unprofessional. I have a lot of health conditions. I see 10 different doctors. I have never had this poor of treatment, and I stuck with them for years. Dr. Argoud had his PA (who "promised me she'd do better than the poor experience I had previously had") take over my care full time. She profusely apologized for the many mistakes this office made in regards to my dosages and miscommunications with my care, medications, and insurance. They clearly do not care about their patients, as many other reviews state. I am currently under their care for multiple different conditions. After receiving ridiculous calls yesterday while I was at work from one of their assistants, (who is so unprofessional and rude) I asked to speak with someone else. They put me on the phone with another, who I've spoken with many times and who is also rude - these 2 are supposed to be medical assistants... come on, at least have some knowledge when you call a patient...and don't get me started with their office manager, who called me at 7am to tell me that my insurance approved my Dexcom use, which turned out to be the farthest thing from true, and the PA, lied about it too). They said no. All I was asking was for them to have their office call in the correct medication, as when they originally called me twice, they were insisting on calling in the incorrect medication that I had never heard of. I received an email after business hours today stating that I was no longer welcome as a patient. I have documented all of my poor interactions with them, and after re-reading these reviews, I am more than happy to find a new doctor. what kind of doctors office leave the patient without care in the middle of their treatment? highly unethical. it is very sad and concerning that patients are asked to leave this office for simply requesting the bare minimum of care. I must also say that after reading Dr. Argoud's responses, I feel even more disgusted by the behavior of this office, and even more content finding a new doctor! It's incredibly telling that, instead of focusing on improving his practice, and hiring a better staff who are respectful, professional, and better communicators, he sits behind his computer and argues with the overwhelming one star poor reviews that he and his office get. If that doesn't prove to you that this guy is the worst, I don't know what does! You can have a "large" practice with "happy" patients, but getting an overall two star rating, and having 30 out of 34 reviews be 1 star is horrifying! Dr. Argoud has been replying to reviews for 8 years with the SAME COMPLAINTS about horribly rude and unprofessional staff and he keeps saying that they have "technical difficulties." You need to call them about 10 times to get refferals, rx tefills etc They never call back, can't complain to the office manager because she IS one of those that never calls back! I had to personally call my insurance to get info on a refferal and I personally had to send it because the office manager supposedly couldn't reach the other office! Dr. Argoud was extremely impolite to the point where I was in tears as soon as he left the room. He wouldn't even look at me when I tried talking to him. I felt like he didn't even see me as a person but just some paperwork he had to do for the day. He didn't explain to me what lab work he wanted done. I would have been fine with that if he at least gave me the paperwork to give to the lab. I tried asking the receptionist if she knew what he wanted. She was kind enough to ask him but wasn't able to tell me much. I had to go to the lab next door to find out exactly what he wanted done. this was the first and last visit to this Dr. I have already scheduled another visit with another Dr. If you want a Dr to really hear your concern and explain his thought process then this is not your Dr. I asked him at least 3 times what he was hoping to ascertain from the lab test he requested and he skirted the question each time. I was so unhappy with this Dr visit i sooooo wanted to request my copay back!!!! I dont think he deserved it and i know he didnt earn it. In all fareness, I prefer a more holistic approach to medicine and this was not even close. I dont like giving an unfavorable rating but this was not a positive experience. SUPER UNPROFESSIONAL!! This is a review of the Doctor's office, not the Doctor himself since I never got a chance to see him. I made an appointment over a month ago (a month and 3 days) with them, and my appointment was for today. I woke up to a voicemail basically telling me not to bother coming in today because they don't take my insurance. I call them to find out what's going on, and I ask them "why wasn't I told you don't take my insurance a month ago when I made the appointment" and they said "because we don't check people's insurance until the day before." You should have told me a month ago when I made the appointment. I wasted an entire month of waiting on this place, now I have to get a new referral to somewhere else and wait around all over again. This has nothing to do with the doctors I'm seeing dr Martin Brian in this office he's great. It's the office staff that I have a problem with I haven't seen my dr in over 6 months. I see my dr every 3 months. For some reason I had to reschedule my last appt. around late July. The lady I spoke to said their system was down and they would call me back to reschedule. Till this day I haven't received a call. I've tried calling plenty of times and left plenty of messages. To return my call and still nothing. I finally got thru around a week or so ago and made my appt. and now I have to cancel cause I've been waiting for another call from them to let me know if they put a request to go do my blood work. No reason to see the dr without my blood work. This is very frustrating when you finally find a dr that you like and can't go see them because of other people dropping the ball. Very dissatisfied with this Dr.s office staff at his Encinitas location. They do NOT return phone calls - even when urgent. Also, frequently running late on appts. Last time I went I waited for more than 45 minutes before they could see me. One time I went in and the doctor wasn't even there - they had neglected to call me! I recently requested my personal file be sent to me because I've had enough and I'm finding another dr., which they have still not sent to me! Stay away! I have been treated for hypothyroidism since 2001. I felt great, great energy and in great shape until a workers comp injury. Got in Obama care, new dr lowered my thyroid medication, all my tests have showed low thyroid, hairs has fallen out, gained a lot of weight and am very very tired, fibrocystic breasts, temps in 95s all the typical low thyroid symptoms.. I was referred to Dr Argoud, saw the PA Mrs Argoud - It would take a very long time for her to untangle simple thyroid issues if ever. If this is your doctor please go read Stop the Thyroid Madness webite and about.com Mary Shommon a great thyroid activist, I have found 2 great doctors on her top doctors list. Yahoo has a group reverse T3 and adrenals. There is a lot of support if you look. There are a lot of medical opinions on thyroid treatment. If this one doesn't get you feeling better, try the opposite. Its back to my awesome, but a bit expensive thyroid dr for me Dr Luber in Encinitas. Dr. Argoud treated me for thyroid issues at his Solana Beach office over the course of several months last year and I always had positive experiences with him and his staff. I never had to wait longer than a few minutes and always received clear insight into my plan for treatment. When I forgot my medication while traveling they were able to get my prescription sent to the pharmacy in my location very quickly. I was able to reach the on call doctor for advice quickly as well. My thyroid issues pretty much followed the course and resolution as he predicted so I'm very grateful for his care. read more

Eight years Dr. Argoud bullied me into having a needle biopsy of a 0.59 cm cyst on my thyroid gland. I really didn't feel that it was neccesary because my previous doctor was not worried about it. The cyst hadn't changed in years, but Dr. Argoud insisted that it needed to be done. I reluctantly agreed. Dr. Argoud kept telling me to tilt my head back further and further, and it took him what seemed like a very long time to to do the procedure. Afterwards I had the worst head and neck ache, and the pain lasted for two weeks. Finally, Dr. Argoud called me to tell me the results. I actually think that he may have been drunk when he called me. He went on and on telling me that there was cancer in the thyroid gland and all the things that I was going to have to do. He acted like I was going to die at any moment. If I hadn't cut him off, I think he would have offered to plan my funeral. Anyway, I was so disgusted by his behavior that I called my regular doctor and told him the situation. I had a CT scan with contrast of my thyroid gland and surrounding neck and chest tissue, but there was no evidence of cancer. It's been eight years. I am not dead, and the cyst has not changed at all. I think Dr. Argoud was hoping that I would need my thyroid gland removed so he could make some extra money. Do not go to this doctor! And don't allow any doctor tell you to have your thyroid gland removed "just to be safe" if they cannot prove that there is actually active growing cancer. Get a second opinion. read more

I'm sure doctor Argoud is great but don't, whatever you do, see Maria Argoud. I am 7 1/2 weeks pregnant and she has given me completely the wrong advice about the importance of T4 levels in pregnancy. It's a good job I had a good doctor before who explained it all so I was able to see through the advice and seek a second opinion. It could actually have put my babies development at risk. And at one point during the conversation she tried to end it by saying 'that's my advice, you can follow it if you want'. Not really sure how she has even got her medical licence. read more
