The orchard grows a ton of different apple varieties so there's good picking during the full apple season. We got to choose between Zestar and Jerseymac apples during our visit. I'm a big fan of crisp and tart so the Zestars fit the bill. Peach picking was a bit of the same only fewer varieties. Raspberry picking was a fun new experience. You're essentially hunting and the fruit that is ready to be picked will slide off their cone-like cores. Since it was early in the season most of the berries were small or immature and there were a ton of bees buzzing around. I mean a ton where you'd go to pick and they would be buzzing around your hand. Don't worry though! The bees are friendly and indifferent to your picking the fruit. Just be gentle. Pro tip: come on a day where there's a breeze. We went on a still day in August and it was hot! 90 minutes in the sun and we were feeling pretty crunchy.

We had a nice little conversation about growing basil while they were pricing tubs of corn chowder. Dennis asked if we liked corn chowder and we said yes, so he told us he was giving us a tub of his to try cause it will be the best we ever had! While it wasn't the best I've ever had, it was pretty damn near close! The corn was great, the tomatoes were great, the squash was great! The pick your own blueberries were delightful! We stopped here as we were headed home from a weekend in Maine. Chase is my maiden name and my…read moreson's first name, so we HAD to go. Upon arriving, we saw all the beautiful Christmas trees for sale and were immediately greeted by a very nice young man who asked if we'd ever been there. He welcomed us to check out the store and that there was complimentary mulled cider, apples, and fresh-popped popcorn and coffee, and a whole sitting area to enjoy it in. We purchased their own Cryovacced beef and sausage, some fresh veggies, homemade baked goods, and some cider. The staff was AMAZINGLY friendly! As we were leaving, my children saw some very small broken Christmas tree twigs in the parking lot and wanted to take them home for the ride so they could smell the pine. Another young man called over to me and said he had a better piece for them than what we found on the ground and he gave them a large branch! It just made their day! Then, my daughter saw the horses and he invited us to go and look at them. It was such a gorgeous setting and we really enjoyed everything we purchased. The sausage is out of this world!!! Plenty of fresh produce and the woman working told me there would be plenty more come the warm weather (it was only 20 degrees outside the day I visited). We absolutely love Beans and Greens!…read more While out on a hike, we had the unexpected treat of meeting Chris, the beekeeper, who generously gave us a free frame of fresh honeycomb. My daughter had the best time sharing it with her friends and eating it straight from the comb like little bears! I had just as much fun processing the honey and getting to experience a little bit of the work that goes into producing it. This is just one more reason we appreciate Beans and Greens. We've been to the farm many times for the kids' activities, fresh produce, coffee, food, and music, and every experience has been wonderful. There's always something special happening there, and you can really feel the care and heart that goes into the farm and the community they've created. A big thank-you to Chris for his generosity and for making an already great hike even sweeter. We're so grateful and will definitely keep coming back!
