I've only had choong moo kimbab and spicy rice cake and both were good. The portions are pretty filling. There were enough of the kimbap to have with the pickled radish and marinated squid. Both the radish and the squid were actually really good as well. I've found it hard to find choong moo kimbap and I was so happy to find it. The spicy rice cake tasted like what I had when I was growing up long time ago in Korea, and that's a complement because most restaurants make it a more modern style that is sweeter. The price on spicy rice cake was good at $4 for the container but wish the choong moo kimbap were a little bit cheaper, but it's understandable given rising costs. The couple that were working there provided a pretty quick service to check out. It has a hole in the wall ambiance that really takes me back to my really young years when I lived in Korea. WARNING: They put peanut butter in the tteokbokki. My son is severely allergic to peanuts and we unknowingly gave him tteokbokki from Arirang. He started developing hives and felt uncomfortable for the majority of the night. I had to monitor his breathing several times at night to make sure there was no anaphylaxis. I called them the next morning to ask if they use peanuts in the tteokbokki and they confirmed my suspicions. Giving them 4 stars because their food is good overall and I don't want to ruin their reputation over this. However, I hope they take my advice and label peanuts and tree nuts in their food- especially when it's an unexpected dish like tteokbokki. read more

These "banchan" (side dish) places can be pricey, and there are so many in Fort Lee & Palisades Park areas. This one will be decent enough for the reduced price. read more

I can't explain why I decided to randomly stop at Arirang House right before hopping into the car. Something about a shop just focused on Korean rice cakes seemed intriguing. There weren't that many items out, but the package of mochi just seemed tempting, and I went ahead with this impulse purchase. Six little mochi for $5 seemed a bit expensive to me, especially when one can buy a giant fresh mochi in Chinatown for $1 each. Yet I decided to go with it, and I'm glad I did. The mochi's filling to rice ratio was generous--although small, the generous amount of sweet, slightly coarse mochi filling was truly a delight. The mochi rice layer was also so soft and fresh. Despite the three different colors, all contained red bean inside (I would have preferred to have some more variety, but red bean is the classic). read more

Local gem for wang mandoo (giant steamed dumplings, the casing is more like a lotus bun) the orders come with a small portion of pickled daikon & soysauce. I love their kimchi wangmandoo & hubby loves their gogi(meat) They also have amazing side dishes such as Kimchi pancakes & japcahe(stirfried vermicelli noodles) & hubby loves their kimbab assortments. If you go near closing time the cashier lady(possibly owner) hooks you up with free stuff. I spent $25 & she gave me 3 free side dishes. It was super yummy & I was extremely grateful. I'm so happy they're still around. It's been a family fave for random treats as a child. read more

This place is DEFINITELY not closed. Still operates fine and I have been going here almost every week for the past two months. This place was a hidden gem that I didn't know about and it's perfect place to grab delicious food to go during this pandemic. My favorite dish here is their signature "Arirang Kimbap" all of their Kimbaps are VERY good. Really great value! read more

Best kimchi jjigae! They are so many Korean restaurants in Bergen county but it is not easy to find a restaurant that has a good kimchi jjigae. But this place has it and it is only $6. My favorite type of dumpling. KING DUMPLINGS. They have four kinds. meat, kimchi, vegetable, and red bean. Kimchi being the best unless you have hot sauce for the meat ones then they are on par with each other. This shop also carries other Korean finger foods such are kimpop, but dont bother becasue you come here for the dumplings. With them priced at 6 for 7 dollars you should defiantly come up here and pick up a box for yourself. they look big but are mostly air so they are a lot less filling then you would think. I had dinner with friends at kbbq nearby & we chanced upon this place. I love sweet rice cakes, so I wanted to stop in & just see what they had. We ended up getting some red bean mochi & another plate of small round multicolored rice cakes (yellow, pink, green, & purple) called "gua-il-gyung-dan" (that's how the korean word is pronounced) & it was soo good, we couldn't stop eating them! This place has best jjigaes out of all the banchan places. I recommend kimchi pancake, kimchi jjigae and soondubu. Not to increase my competition but if you come after 7pm then the food like kimbop, fried squid, kimchi pancake... Etc are almost half price. read more

The 5 stars are specifically for the KING steamed dumplings ("King" is in reference to the size of the dumping: about that of a closed fist..or larger!) I highly highly recommend the Kimchi King steamed dumpling - one THE best I've had in the area. This is a complete take-out place where you can find tons of pre-packaged Korean food (rolls, entrees, soups, side dishes) & desserts (mainly rice cakes, etc). This place is small, not at all like your regular sit down restaurants. But don't let that keep you from coming here, the setup is more like a place to buy prepared food you take to go. They have other foods to choose from, though I'm not that familiar with their selection I strictly come here for the dumplings. I'm glad I stumbled onto this place, you will be to.
