I took my niece and nephew to Overpeck park and saw this brownie truck. Such a unique idea and a delicious treat after running around in the sun. I got the caramel sea salt brownie with vanilla ice cream and it hit the spot.

Tried a sampling of mini brownies at this relatively new truck. They're gourmet in flavor but not as ooey-gooey as I might have hoped. Getting a sampling of 3 minis for 5 or 7 for 10 is a good idea to grab some different flavor experiences, since, as I said, the flavor is gourmet. This would be a good dessert truck for adults while the kids grab their soft serve gunk.

We hired the Brownie Bar for a private backyard event and they were a big hit! Everyone loved the cute truck and tasty treats. We got an affordable package with 4 flavors and homemade vanilla ice cream. They were all so good. Along with the 3 brownies pictured we got an apple crisp blondie that was a surprising hit. The owners were easy to work with and accommodating - even agreed to stay later when our bus or guests arrived late. We also appreciated that we were able to eat the extras (though there were not many ) Would definitely recommend booking!

The coffee was on point, not overly sweet and the frozen hot chocolate came with a wonderful brownie and ice cream in it.

Once you enter you place your order in front of the hot lunch spread. I ended up getting the Pernil ($13) which was alright, maybe because I'm spoiled from having Dominican food in Washington Heights/city. The Maduro ($1.80) was a bit dry, which kinda looks like it from my photo. I'm thinking it was an off day. I may try again. * Street parking * Indoor dining

They even had Coco Rico which I have not had since I left NYC in 92. BTW the flan was incredible. I really loved the food experience. Portions are spot on. It is like a bodega shop like I grew up with in Washington heights. Nice and welcoming. Very homey and I liked it. Nice place for an impromptu meal. Service needs a little help...My girl could be friendlier and provide service with smile versus the standoffish demeanor she had. You want me to be a repeat customer right? You want me to come back right? Then great me with a smile and serve me with a smile. When you open a restaurant this is primo important! Could be a language barrier thing but if someone can pass this along I will only take one star off because the food was delicious. Worth going to but my girl needs to up the service game por favor.

In my preliminary discussions with Chris, I was already blown away by the care he put into his emails, willingness to accomodate, and forthrightness. The Empire Club is located on a quiet residential street where the homes were probably built in the 70's. The facilities are classic and simple, but a little dim, so it makes the place seem a bit older than it is. However, I loved that it was low on the frou frou and ruffles. It has a small rear garden that can fit 140 guests for a ceremony, however that wouldn't be enough for my party. The ceremony could also be held in thhe narrow upstairs level (capacity 200 and not wheelchair accessible) or in the ballroom (capacity 250 to 300 ceremony or 250 reception dinner). Cocktails are a separate room that allows guests to mingle and for the staff to turn over the space quickly. We enjoyed a tasting menu on our visit and were blown away by the sheer quantity of food provided. We had the whole spread - hot and cold appetizers, salad, various entrees, and had to beg to skip dessert! Overall, the food was good and presented well. The food quality didn't blow me away (probably a 3 star food rating) but would be good enough for most of my guests. I recommend Empire for those who would like an affordable wedding, need the extra care, like supporting local family businesses, and value customer service highly. Chris was fantastic to work with! Disclaimer: My reviews in the Wedding Venue search list are based solely upon my initial visit, interaction with staff via email, and how well it fit with the requirements for my wedding (access to public transportation, can fit over 200 people, can hold the ceremony on site, offered a sit down dinner in my buget).

It must've been the welcoming feeling we got when we walked in and were met by the owners Chris and his brother. These two guys are young, but they are seasoned pros in the business it seems. They invited us to have a food tasting and we discussed options and pricing. They were VERY fair with pricing and options and ALL of the food was delicious. And the most important thing - everything was as promised on the day of the event. Our maitre'd (forgot his name), an Asian man, was very courteous and always available throughout the 4-hour event. We had a buffet-style dinner and they were not cheap with the food portions. They also left the food out a good 2 hours, and even then, the maitre'd asked if we wanted it still left out longer. The waiters and bussers were so good, I don't even remember seeing them in the room though finished dishes were being taken off the table and pitchers of drinks were being refilled non-stop. The only reason for one less star was a minor issue with one of the bartenders at the beginning, which was immediately resolved by Chris. Also the room seemed a bit warm, and the restrooms are awkwardly placed in the hall. Other than that, this place is THEE GO-TO place to hold any event.
