I saw a small handwritten sign for patio, concrete & stone landscape work and eventually called the number. Arise and Shine Design answered and promptly scheduled a visit to discuss my ideas, likes, dislikes and their recommendations based on knowledge of materials, costs and installation methods. A professional quote was provided within 15 mins after they left the site! The owner worked with me to adjust that to make it fit my budget. Although scheduling was smooth and within my desired timing, this type work is controlled by weather and they kept me informed when rain pushed our planned schedule. I now have a beautiful concrete walkpath lined with paver stones. It winds, curves and even zig zags just as I described I would like to them. Arise and Shine Design provided excellent customer service throughout. I hired these guys a few days ago to clear out some brush and small trees from my property. They were highly recommended by one of my co-workers. I reached out to them, and explained to the lady on the phone that I needed to have the work done as soon as possible, in preparation for a big birthday party the following weekend. Within an hour, I received a call from a gentleman on his way to give me an estimate. Long story short, The crew showed up the next day and was done in a couple of hours. Let me start by saying that never in my life have I felt the need to write a negative review for a service. I feel completely taken advantage of and disrespected by this organization. I caution anyone who is considering this company to look elsewhere. I am writing today to warn of the downright unethical practices of Arise and Shine Design. Let me start by saying I did my due diligence and received several quotes on completing my backyard project which included a patio and landscaping. I decided to go with the midrange quote given to me by Arise and Shine Design. I was up front with all of my contractor in what I was looking for, which was to take a small area under a large tree and go from dirt to patio. My first issue came when the original patio which was dug out was under half the size of the patio I was quoted and had already give half a deposit on. In fact the person who I thought was the one coming to install the patio, the person who had stood with me to come up with the dimensions and sold me on the design was not involved at all with the construction of the patio. Eventually I was able to get the size of the patio corrected after I stopped the project and demanded that the owner come out and look at what his crew had done. The next issue was the depth of the patio. I was concerned about where the patio would meet both my yard and a preexisting deck. I was assured by Dedric that the patio would be "flush" with the first step of the deck. What am I supposed to do other than trust the man I am paying to be the expert? Well, next issue is I come home and not only is the patio not flush, it is not level either! When I brought this up to Dedric I was told that I was "not listening to him" when he explained it to me.I was belittled numerous time and made to believe that I was the only one at fault for this miscommunication, although it was very clear to me that Dedric had promised something he couldn't guarantee because he was not present at the actual job site. My next frustration came after the patio had been completed. Dedric's team had all but destroyed all ground cover which existed in my backyard prior to them being there. What was once mostly greener had turned into a barren mud pit. Eventually I was able to get him to agree to cover this with hay and seed as from my perspective it only makes sense to fix what one had broken. On the evening of work I come home to find my yard littered with debrief, rocks and solid chunks of hard mud. This is hidden benefit the hay which his crew had laid out. This was not an issue prior to Arise and Shine Design. The edging of the patio was all debrief and nothing grass will ever be able to grow in. It was thrown together. All of this $12,000 later. Please be careful and get quotes and pictures. And be warned that the pictures on Arise and Shine's website are not accurate of the final product but a fictious image of what they want you to believe. read more
