I went to three other places and I'm just trying to make an informed decision and the people act like you are questioning their intelligence when you ask a question. I have not bought yet as I'm using some cheap single vision eyeglasses that I got to see if single vision will work for me. Aristocrat Optix has a GREAT selection. Cannot say enough about this shop and its lovely owners! Delightful experience. In day when it seems we are inundated with quick service, lack of care of and no local options, Michael renewed my faith. I called before I visited to get some pricing and he was so helpful and answered all my questions. When I arrived, he was inviting and efficient. I had never really seen this store, tucked away upstairs, but I was searching for unique frames and came across it. Upon entering, I found a very small store with an outstanding and large selection of frames manned by the owner Michael, who is a rare find with his extensive knowledge and amazing service. I found so many frames I liked, each with a unique explanation of designer, origin, etc, that making a decision was not easy but was challenging and fun. This store carries an excellent, hand-picked selection of luxury designer frames, as well as a line of super unique (and remarkably low-priced,) color-striped acetate frames that the owner, Michael, designs and has hand-made in Germany. Michael carries some of my favorite brands (including Dita and Etnia O. Barcelona,) but I was really blown away by the unique, funky frames that he designed personally. His store seems a lot smaller than it really is because a lot of his frames are in drawers and not on display, but once you sit down he does an excellent job of picking out the frames that best complement your face. He had great taste - he and I agreed on the verdict of pretty much all of the thirty or so pairs I tried on while in the store. He has also invested in his own lens cutting machine and can have your glasses ready for you in as little as an hour of wait time (whereas most shops in town will ask you to wait for a couple of weeks!) The prices are not low, but considering the quality of the frames and the two-year lens and frame warranty, they are very reasonable. Finally, he takes insurance! Great customer service, great selection of unique, comment-grabbing frames, and very reasonable prices for the quality. I usually shy away from high end items, but after today, I realize you get what you pay for, and you will not be disappointed with Aristocrat Opix. I've never been one to put a lot of thought into my appearance, between my three children and school, there's not a lot of time to focus on myself. I went in to see Michael today and he went above and beyond showing me different styles and insisted I make time to feel and look good. When I asked his opinion on frames, he very calmly and supportively reminded me that the opinion I hold for myself is what matters, not what he thinks or what my husband thinks. Michael (owner) is super nice and helpful and can crank out new lenses himself in no time. Not only does he do lenses, he also designs many of the frames you see in the shop - mostly the striped variety. He can basically create anything you could think of around shapes/colors/etc. Anyway, he also carries a host of frame designers in a wide range of styles/materials - especially a bunch of those German brands that are incredibly light and durable (not my style, but to each their own). First off- I miss Michael as I am typing this. I spent weeks going to different stores seeking unique, independent frames all the way from Austin, Lakeway, and even San Antonio. No place came close in comparison to Aristocat Optix. When I walked in, Michael was already assisting someone else and I had time to peruse his selection. He worked out what I was looking for and gave great recommendations while he multitasked with us customers. I never felt rushed, pressured, or overlooked. In fact, I felt very seen for the style I wanted to go for. Michael gave great and honest opinions that were very helpful on deciding factors of what looked best for me. His in-depth knowledge was far more advanced than any other person who has ever helped me in shopping in general. He has a lot of knowledge about his selection and you can tell this is his passion by the way he speaks. I not only found one pair of glasses, but I found two! Prior to my final decision I went to four more places just to make sure these two were the ones and every frame, including the stores, felt so lackluster. One place on my list was a nearby shop that Michael suggested; I love that he is all about sharing and helping us find our true frames even if they don't come from him. When I was shopping at other places I found myself continuing to mention how much I missed Michael and his experience, shopping skills and kindness. I typically just use cheap reading glasses and have ever since my eyesight started declining after I hit 40. The one time I did have prescription lenses they gave me a headache and were really fragile so I ended up rarely wearing them. Michael, the owner of Aristocrat Optix, is really incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and engaging. He asked me some questions and immediately made some suggestions for frames that really fit my head perfectly. The frames themselves were a really stylish frame made of titanium so they are incredibly light-weight. He tested my head and vision and said to come back in an hour (he has the best lens machine in the world in his back room). Literally when I put the glasses on I saw better than I ever have since I was a young man. No headache and the frames fit like a glove; no sliding down the nose. The clarity of the lens is nothing short of amazing and my vision is now incredible. I used to only wear my readers when I had to and the sat on my shirt collar the rest of the time. Now I'm wearing them all day and take them off to sleep & shower and that's about it. I can't say enough about Aristocrat Optical or Michael who is, by far, the most knowledgeable person I've ever encountered in terms of glasses, frames and lenses. Michael and his wife at Aristocrat Optix are the most thoughtful, caring people who do an outstanding job creating glasses. Because of my son's prescription, places all over town said they would take 2-3 weeks to get him a new pair. Michael? He made them as we waited! Not only were they done quickly, but they were done carefully. We've consistently had problems in the past with breakage and the vision not being "quite right" when we went to the name brand stores, but with Aristocrat Optix, the glasses are perfect. I don't know how Michael does it differently, but my son said, "This is the clearest I've seen EVER." And his prescription hasn't changed in many years, so we're dealing with the same numbers.
