What we asked for off of their Facebook and what we got. Tasted pretty crappy too.
    Krysteena H.

Update: I have emailed the company twice with no response. The lady that referred them to me also emailed them to see if she got a response and she did. Beyond annoyed now. I posted on their Facebook page with a pic of what we asked for and what we got, and it was deleted. So I reposted it. They've also "disputed my review" of them on WeddingWire. They can do all that, but they can't respond to an email asking for an explanation of a pretty terrible $400 cake? Unprofessional is an understatement.

Left: $145, tasted a dime size & was disgusting! Right: smoothed & decor repositioned to be a display cake only! Leiticia, your a crook!!!!!

I was in need of a last minute order for my mother in laws 70th Birthday celebration that took place on 1/14/2017 because the person who was doing my cake initially had an unforseen medical issue. Had I not been pressed for time, I would have done more research...it would have avoided this whole nightmare. Leiticia Pestova AKA Ritzy Cakes AKA Arizona Birthday Cakes AKA Pestova's Custom Cakes & Catering said she could accommodate my request for a 2tier Pink Champagne Cake w/Vanilla Buttercream to feed 50 for $145. Details I gave, no fondant just smooth frosting, no delivery needed, lil to no decor & to say "Cheers to 70years, we love you Emla!" Leiticia asked for payment, I said was this a deposit or payment in full? She said full because it's under $500. I was in a desperate situation & from the looks of "her cakes" "on her" website at http://www.arizonabirthdaycakes.com/ , I thought wow they look phenomenal & she has won an award too...heck yes. Was excited! The one thing she did say she couldn't do was smooth the frosting but rather could do a stucco style. That was the least of my worries all I cared about was that the cake tasted amazing. So when I paid her she said are you sure you don't want any ribbon or fresh flowers? I said no, I'm already at my limit with the cost for the cake. She said she'd do it for free, so the cake wasn't plain. I said sure that'd be great, I thought it would look like a masterpiece like the cakes advertised "on her" website. I told her the colors we are doing are teal, lavender and gold. The next day she sent me a pic of the cake, I wanted to cry. It looked slapped together horrible nothing like an "award-winning decorator!" (like her site says.) I agreed to the stucco because my niece who is a Baker could smooth it for me, I sent her the pic & asked is there anything you can help me advise as to how Leiticia could make the cake look better. She said bring me the cake & I'll fix it. I went to pick up the cake from Leiticia & it was wrapped in saran wrap! I just grabbed it & said thanks. Before my niece started to smooth it out, I said I want to taste if the frosting is good. I/we did, it was disgusting & NOT Vanilla Buttercream. I then said let me taste the cake, it was as gross as the frosting & tasted over cooked. It was a plain Strawberry Cake NOT a Pink Strawberry Champagne like the Birthdays Girl wanted. I was so sick to my stomach that I had a $145 cake that I was ready to throw in the trash. My niece said I'll make it as presentable as possible & you can at least use it for a display cake. How sad! I let Leiticia know my concerns & dissatisfaction & that I'd bring her the entire cake for a refund. She didn't respond until after I had resent my message the next day at 1:30pm. Her response: "Hi there, I'm just getting these texts now. I took an early flight to CA this morning to be with my uncle, who has cancer. I'm not sure what to say. The champagne I bought is Paques: it's $45 alone. I had people at Duza's taste the batter & they loved it. With the materials & last minute labor that was needed, I barely made anything on the cake. I want you happy so can offer you a $100 credit towards any purchase in the future." The party was starting in 4 hours & I had little to no time to focus on a reply, so I simply said: "Appreciate the response & sorry about your family. I'll definately give it some thought & get back to you after this event today is over. Thank you." I ended having to pick up a random full sheet cake at Costco and had them write on it, cost $18.99! Cake was amazing even though it's not what we wanted to serve, I wasn't serving the other one to anybody! I ended up leaving the cake at the venue & told them to trash it for all I cared. The next day after giving it more thought & reading the reviews here on yelp I then let her know that my only interest was a cash refund. Taking into consideration the mention of "champagne being purchased" & supplies, I was even willing to accept half. She never responded. I am so shocked that after all the reviews & people she has scammed, that she has not been shut down. There has to be something that can be done to get all who have been ripped off by her! Any advice is greatly appreciated! Star rating, if allowed would have been NONE!!!!!

Gaps in the icing in back of cake.

We were met outside the "showroom" on a Sunday by "Amber", a delivery person. She sped into the lot in a low sports car with the cake in the passenger seat. We were handed a cake that was unprofessionally packaged. Wrapped in plastic wrap touching the icing, the cake was tilting to one side. We were in a hurry to get other things done so we left with the cake. Took off the wrap and discovered the cake was not well decorated as you could see bald spots between the rosettes that were to be covering the cake. I immediately emailed the owner who was rapid fire in responding after hours when we ordered by didn't respond for a day when we had a problem. Later, when we cut the cake, we discovered the cake was not sugar-free chocolate as we ordered. Was a vanilla cake and undetermined to be sugar-free. Owner now claims she never agreed to chocolate sugar-free. I have it in an email. Purchased using PayPal so now in dispute resolution through them.

Note the size difference in the cupcakes. The one on the top right is huge & overflowing the the one right below is super tiny!

Cake was weird looking and didn't taste that great. Also, there weren't enough pieces for everyone.

Excellent Catering Experience -- Highly Recommend!…read more We hired Tacos Calafia Catering for my birthday celebration at our home and had an absolutely wonderful experience from beginning to end! The food was delicious, fresh, and a huge hit with our guests. Everthing well organized and spotless. So many people commented throughout the evening on how good everything was, and just a few days later, one of my friends was already asking me for their contact information so she could recommend them for another event. That says it all! Alex and Adán provided excellent service. They were professional, friendly, organized, and made everything so easy for us as hosts. It was such a pleasure having them be part of our celebration. Our family just moved to Arizona in January, so we are still discovering local businesses we can trust, and Tacos Calafia is definitely one we will happily use again and recommend to our friends. Great food, great service, and wonderful people. There is a reason they have so many excellent reviews online -- they deserve them! Thank you, Alex, Adán, and the Tacos Calafia team for helping make my birthday such a special evening. Highly recommended for anyone looking for excellent taco catering in Arizona!

So instead of preparing this year's charcuterie board myself, I splurged and had XOXO create a masterpiece instead... and it was a hit! The ordering on the website was easy enough and after some texting back and forth, I had clear direction on the pick-up time too. It was ready upon arrival and it was beautiful and extremely tasty. The board and all of the ingredients were high quality. Our guests were pleased and so was I! I ate leftovers for days after the holiday too as there was plenty of meats, cheeses, honey, fresh fruit, dry fruit, nuts and more... The board was indeed a masterpiece and it came with great little serving utensils as well. I highly recommend XOXO and look forward to using them again in the future!

We did…read morea sample tasting for our potato bar dinner and were very pleased making only a slight change to the roasted vegetables. The beef was so savory and tasty, the potatoes cooked perfectly and the chicken was nicely seasoned and cooked. The bread was great and the herbed butter very good. On the day of however (3/29/25, my daughter's wedding), it was a different story. Though the potatoes were superb, the beef was without the savory sauce we sample tasted and only gravy as an optional add on which wasn't the same at all. There was no separate gravy at the sample tasting. The chicken was overcooked and dry. The toppings for the potatoes were at a separate table with no signage and it was too dark (outside event) to see what each was. The bread was not the Irish bread we sampled at all - rather some kind of fruit bread. And lastly, they made our dinner late by 15 minutes needing more time to get set up.

I would not recommend this caterer. Not one product we…read morereceived looked anything like the photos supplied in this yelp advertisement. The presentation or the food. My son and daughter-in-law were married in October of 2024. They met with Kassandra and ultimately ordered a bruschetta appetizer for each guest, followed by a dinner salad. Dinner was a selection of pastas and dinner rolls. The rolls were cold and hard a rock. I watched as a male child opened and dumped a bag of Costco rolls into a mixing bowl right before dinner service started. At least bring a steamer pot to make them warm, soft and edible. I picked up roll as he dumped them in the bowl and was immediately embarrassed that this is what was going to be served to our guests. If I were a caterer, I'd be mortified to serve food like that. **The bruschetta appetizer my daughter-in-law ordered was NOT served with the dinner and each guest did not get one. ** My daughter-in-law paid for the dinner portion of the wedding and I paid for a charcuterie table to be served during cocktail hour. Kassandra made the executive decision to put the dinner bruschetta on the charcuterie table instead of serving it to each guest as an appetizer. So I paid for a full charcuterie table to feed 120 and my dIL paid for a bruschetta appetizer separately but yet Kassandra combined the two separate orders and served one bruschetta. Essentially we were double-charged for food that Kassandra combined without consulting with us. I also paid $420 for a water and Ice tea station. Kassandra set up a makeshift table with a gallon of water (with some cut of fruit) and a gallon of tea and a little ramekin with 4 sugar packets. That was it. No decor, no cups, nothing. $420 plus an additional 20%tip for WATER and ice tea!!!! Once the dinner service was over, (the reception was just beginning- dancing hadn't even started ) Kassandra took the two containers of tea and water and Dumped them out!! I was made aware of it because people began asking me where the water and tea had been moved to. Meanwhile, I had a 2 - gallon containers in the bar area that were empty that Kassandra should've poured the tea and water into instead of dumping it out. I paid for it, I didn't borrow the tea until dinner service was over. She also took the water and tea and dumped it out on the side of my house. I know this because the fruit that was in the water was strewn about all over the ground beside my House. I also purchased a $1500 dessert table that was filled with stale lady fingers and little round mushy cheesecakes that were served in soggy PAPER wrappers that no one could get them out of without making a big mess. The dessert table underwhelming and disappointing. We also ordered a chocolate fountain.Kassandra brought a $19 Walmart version of a chocolate fountain and started setting it up during the reception speeches. Since the chocolate fountain was small and cheap Kassandra knocked it over right after the chocolate started melting and chocolate went everywhere. All over the table and candles and dessert plates (that I provided) the bricks and soaked into the antique wood table top. It took us two weeks to get the chocolate out of the creases of the wood. We had to treat the table with a product to help soak up all the oil that was in the chocolate and ultimately had to sand the table down. The entire dessert table went straight into the garbage can. There was nothing fresh or homemade about those desserts. I think this caterer is one of those businesses that decided to start a catering business and are figuring it out as they go along. That's fine as long as you are not charging five tier pricing on a 1 tier product and service. She also charged and was paid in advance for an all gratuity which is outrageous especially how the caliber of the product and service was not remotely comparable to the product and service we paid. I called Kassandra the day after the wedding to discuss the situation over the bruschetta - she said she couldn't talk so I texted her my concerns and she never responded back to Me. Again, I would not recommend this caterer. She is highly under qualified and over priced . And, I am telling you that nothing we had was fresh or locally made or homemade. It was Pure Costco through and through. The day after the wedding, once we had a day to settle down and process the event we realized that no one got a Bruschetta appetizer. I messaged Kassandra about that issue and that's when she told me she put them on the charcuterie table to make it "look more full." I paid for a charcuterie table for 120, it should've looked full because that's what I paid for. There was definitely not 120 bruschetta on the charcuterie table anyway.
