Stumbled across Elysian Fields Artisan Bakery & Dainties on Google and had to give it a try -- and boy am I glad we did. This beautiful little shop feels like stepping into another world the moment you walk in. It's family run, and you can truly feel the love and creativity that goes into everything they make. From cupcakes and tortes to cookies and so much more, every display case looked amazing. They even had gluten-free options, which was great to see. Gabriel welcomed us in and took the time to walk us through all the delicious treats they had to offer. His kindness and enthusiasm made the experience even more special. Since it was our first visit, we were treated to complimentary shortbread cookies -- we chose lavender and rose -- and both were absolutely delicious. We ended up taking home a strawberry brownie, the tuxedo cupcake with dark chocolate and buttercream frosting, a vanilla cupcake, and the limoncello cupcake. Unbelievable cakes and pastries. Short bread flavors are floral and fun too ! This family owned and operated bakery has some of the best baked items I've had in Mesa. Hands down. I've been here 3 times in 2 weeks after discovering it and plan to go again in the next couple days. There's so much try! They even do high tea, which is a treat to find! Found Elysian Fields on FB (I think) and needed to check it out and very glad I took the time. While the storefront is a little intimate it's still a very lovely place. The delicious pastries and other tasty treats are made daily by the family of bakers/chefs. This is a generational experience happening and ithe "back story" is pretty awesome. The peeps currently making things happen there come from a line of Chefs dating back to sometime long ago in France. They have pictures to share of places formerly owned by their family. So it's a great experience and I highly encourage anyone to check it out. I had never been to this bakery before, but had been wanting to try it for quite some time, since I live nearby. I browsed their website and saw that they offer cannolis, one of my dad's favorite desserts (as well as one of mine)! Since Father's Day was coming up, I placed an order for a dozen mini cannolis to bring to our small Father's Day celebration, and I couldn't be happier I did! My dad said they are the best cannolis he has ever eaten, and even my mom, who is not normally a fan, loved them! It was also perfect that the following day was National Cannoli Day, and the cannolis kept nicely in the fridge for us to enjoy more the next day! I must also add that upon picking up my order, I was amazed at the gorgeous interior of the bakery, the equally gorgeous variety of treats sitting in the case, the friendly service and the fact that our cannolis were beautifully boxed! 11/10/24 - Short version: Food? Excellent! Service? Spot on! Ambiance? Parisian! Should you stop in? Hell yeah! Long version: OMG, the shortbread cookies are the bomb. A friend recommended Elysian Fields because she knows I am a sucker for baked goods and sweets. I live in the west valley, however, so chances of me visiting are slim. It just so happens I was in the area this particular Saturday (hiking) and remembered to stop in. What a lovely little place. It is situated in a strip mall, meaning parking will never be a problem. They have a few tables sitting out on their patio, with a couple menus out there, too. The menus looked a little overwhelming and I was very hungry so I just walked in. Then became overwhelmed at the decisions I would have to make about what goodies to buy. :-) The struggle is real. Ha! The young lady behind the counter was extremely bubbly and polite, taking the time to explain their flavors, their garden, and the perfumes they sell. The decor was well put together and made me reminisce about my trip to Paris years ago. She mentioned they have some drinks to offer, too, but my eyes were glazed over with the food choices. This visit proved I should never visit a bakery hungry. I purchased the almond croissant w/ marzipan, tiramisu bar, pecan pie Danish, butter bundt cake, and seven small shortbread cookies (all different flavors). The croissant was flaky and airy inside w/ just the right amount of marzipan, the orchid shortbread cookie was delicious and it was not as dry as some shortbread cookies are. The tiramisu bar was huge and even being cut into quarters, it was almost too sweet for me. I may have to start hiking more in the east valley, just so I have an excuse to stop into Elysian. My husband is a shortbread aficianado so we dropped by this family-owned shop to check it out. One of the owners kindly offered us each a free cookie since it was our first visit, and told us about his family's long history and love affair with baking. I tried a coconut shortbread and an amaretto shortbread. The cookies were both fairly good, but I have to say that I'm a traditional girl. Their menu lacks the option of any simple choices like a classic shortbread or chocolate or vanilla option. They have plenty of floral or other fancy, elaborate choices for you, but that's just not my jam. If they were to add some simple flavors to their case I'd be back. The two women working were great and so attentive, we were promptly seated and served tea with an array of freshly made pastries, cookies, petit fours, and finger sandwiches. Everything was so delicious it was impossible to pick favorites, but we really liked the scones, croissants, macarons, smoked salmon sandwich, and, of course, the tea! They even played classical music while we ate and chatted. What a delightful surprise, we stopped for Gelato next door (also very good) there were ladies having high tea. And what was on their table looked like works of art. We had to come in and see what they had to offer. Incredible. Small storefront but the decor was Parisian. There are pictures of two chateaus that were in in the family. I have never seen such an incredible variety of flavors of shortbread. The case was filled with delectable treats. Everything we got was delicious. This is a family owned business and you can absolutely see the pride they take in their business as well as the amazing pastries they offer. Absolutely will make a point to go out of our way to visit again. In the end glad it's a bit farther from Gilbert, because I can see where this would become a weekly stop. Wow!! This bakery is amazing. I ordered a birthday cake for a friend's 60th birthday celebration and asked them to make it a baseball themed since we were in town for spring training. The instant the door opened we were surrounded by the amazing smell of freshly baked goods. My wife worked in a bakery during college and this brought back so many memories for the both of us. The ambiance was cozy yet clean, and the gentleman behind the counter was a pleasure to talk to. I wish I remembered his name! On to the food... they have an extensive selection of cupcakes and shortbread cookies. Also are daily and weekend specials which are scheduled out so you'll have a good idea of what they'll have if you're looking for something specific. We enjoyed two shortbread cookies and a the triple berry crumble bar. Both were excellent with vibrant flavors. The berry bar obviously used fresh fruit - something I find most bakeries skimp on. The shortbread cookies were the perfect consistency; not too crumbly, not too thick, and perfectly flavored. We can't wait to come back on the weekend to try the cinnamon rolls and baguettes! An incredibly lovely and dainty local bakery with so many goods that are all delicious~! I really want to try more things the next time I visit! I placed a custom order for some cookies using some cookie cutters that I own and the day before I am to pick up my order, it got cancelled. I was busy doing something with my SO when suddenly I got an email about it. I got worried and thought that perhaps I filled out the custom order form incorrectly or something, so the next day, I dropped in to inquire about it. They told me that they also didn't cancel it on their end, so something might've gone wrong with the reservation system, and they apologized for the inconvenience and said I could come in the next day to pick up the order. Before I left, I wanted to order a tart but they said because of the inconvenience, it was on the house! They even let my SO have a cookie on the house. I was really shocked, I didn't expect this kindness at all! Honestly, they were speaking so kindly and cordially with me already, which was more than enough for me nowadays, so for them to go to such lengths when they didn't have to in order to ensure I would be satisfied meant a whole lot But somehow they surpassed even that because the next day, I find that my custom order was basically doubled from 7 cookies to 16, and they said that the order would be free due to the trouble caused by what happened with the sudden cancellation! I was just so stunned, I asked multiple times if they were sure, I was really about to get my card out to pay but they insisted it was free and that it's alright. I didn't have cash on my person right then, but I did have some in my vehicle that day, and I just had to leave a tip~!! It was so so incredibly and unexpectedly kind and thoughtful of them to do for me, and the custom order turned out absolutely superb, both in taste and presentation. Short review: go there! Excellent! Delicious! Passionate owners/employees! Fun! Did I say "Go There?" Longer review: first, the prior, positive reviews I've read are spot on. Usually, I find a place like this on yelp, but actually saw them when stopping at RJs cigar lounge a few shops down. I mean, what could be better? Awesome baked goods and cigars! We needed some rolls for soup we were having and I was actually letting homemade Italian French bread (pane Frances) rise, but it wasn't going to be ready. Anyway, saw this place and figured even if they don't have rolls, I've go to check them out. Ended up buying croissants and truffles. They make their own truffles- MAN! Better than my cigar! Some of the best truffles I've had. Mine was some kind of dome shaped, dark chocolate, brown sugar, caramel creamy, delectable, addicting peace of goodness. They gave me a free shortbread cookie, too. I didn't let anyone at home know I had that - excellent. Light, but buttery. Evidently family run. They were very proud of their goods, and for good reason. They said they even make custom cakes based on your description of a prior childhood treat that you remember. They will investigate and figure out what that is and see if they can make it. Now that's craftsmanship. We need craft bakeries like this. And they are hard to find. It takes a lot of work to do what they do. Just as a hobbyist home Baker, who occasionally dabbles with croissants and other breads, I appreciate the effort they do to turn out superior products all the time.
