So far I've been waiting for 40 minutes !!! I arrived at 10:43 - on time for check-in at 10:45 for an 11:00 appointment, my paperwork was done and my cards ready to show. I am fed up with doctors charging inordinate amounts of money - and that's after insurance (because of course you're insane if you don't have it and too many can't) for having me sit in a noisy, phone-chatting-loud disrespectful people waiting room for all this time, to then maybe be rushed in and out without a 'proper' doctor visit. All they are these days is bureaucrats with no regard for their "patients", who want to make money without giving a good service. Receptionists are a whole other category of bad management and manners: there are rare ones that are pleasant and lovely to interact with, truly nice, friendly and caring about their work and how they represent themselves and the office to customers. Sadly not in this workplace. The dermatologist I was with, Dr Ebner, I've been informed only does surgeries now, so I will have to find another doctor because the impression left by the change made as Dr Crandall and his staff have taken over is not a good or welcoming one. read more

Botched Biopsy and I'm scarred for life! Nurse practioner Marlene Wright cut a huge chunk of HEALTHY tissue from the middle of my eyelid and completely missed the tiny pimple next to my eyebrow hairs that I was concerned about. She didn't listen to what I said and isn't trained or skilled at pathology enough to be cutting on people. She admitted that she could have also frozen off the area instead of scarring me for life. This is why P.A.s and nurses are not allowed to cut on people at most other dermatology offices. My PCP referred me here for a reoccurring pimple that turns into a red dot on the tip of my nose. I spent more time filling out the new patient paper work than I did in the exam room. Marlene, a nurse practitioner, quickly looked at it, told me it's a broken blood vessel, and gave me the option to get it lasered for $75-$300 as it was cosmetic and not covered by insurance. I followed up with "So it's definitely not cancer then?" to which she responded "Not yet. With your skin type it's only a matter of time before your body starts making you pay for what you did to it in your teenage years." Umm what?! Did you just tell me that I'm going to get cancer at some point because I have fair skin? Aside from saying I had one bad burn as a child in my paper work, who is she to judge my "teenage years?" Also, if it's nothing more than a broken blood vessel, why do I keep getting a white head on it and scabbing? Broken blood vessels don't do that. $40 co pay and I'm sure they are getting well over $1k from my insurance company for what took her all of 3 minutes. read more

Today is the 10th day that I have tried to get a refill for an ointment for my eczema. Not only was it called into the wrong pharmacy, but no strength was indicated, so the prescription could not be filled again today. I have tried to get the MA to transfer the prescription because of the drive, and was told I could call and do it myself. But still without the strength, I cannot get it filled. While I have called ten times, the pharmacy has called 4 times, once again today, and never got a call back in response to the messages. This is the worst experience I have ever encountered with any medical professionals, and I am moving on with my care and finding a new provider. Look elsewhere, the support staff, is rude and unresponsive. read more

Drove an hour to see a dermatologist and was denied service after an office member made the mistake of informing me of a teleconference appt. deeply disappointed in the service. As I auth here and type this message in front of the baseline office watching what I assume are patients walk in and out of the office. Very interesting. I will NOT be rescheduling and will be seeking care at another dermatologist who promptly made a same day appt for me. Stay away from this office. Dr. Superfon is one of the foremost authorities in the world on the subject of melanoma; the fastest spreading and most preventable of all cancers. Yesterday I was able to call, book an appointment, and get an unusual spot on my left temple cut out. Think about that in our world of socialized/inefficient medicine. To get into a specialist these days (let alone the expert in Arizona) it usually takes an act of congress. Not at Arizona Dermatology. Unprofessional and judgmental! Worst experience! On Oct 5th, I was seen by Dr. Nicols at the Arizona dermatology Mesa location. I arrived at 10:25a for a 10:45Appt and waited a WHOLE HOUR before I was seen. I feel that is unacceptable for a first initial consultation. However, I was still optimistic that the rest of the visit will go well. After waiting for an hour and fifteen minutes I was called back and treated by Dr. Nicols. I explained to the Doctor like I mentioned on the phone that I was looking to start Isotretinoin, as I've already had one successful round two years ago but noticed my acne came back very aggressively. Dr.Nicols continued to ask me questions related to the treatment process and asked what form of birth control I'd be using, I explained to her I was practicing abstinence, as I've been celibate for a year. She replied that she is not comfortable with that and does not write prescriptions for Isotretinoin without birth control being used and its government mandated.(which is only half true, abstinence is acceptable as well per government guidelines!) I was shocked! I explained to her I specifically called and explained my situation to her staff and was reassured I would be seen and treated she replied, "they don't talk to me about stuff like that". I was in disbelief! Again, I explained to her I have been celibate for over a year for spiritual reason and did not plan on having sex in the near future and most certainly do not plan to get pregnant. She exclaimed, "Well what if you get raped or fall in love!?" I couldn't believe my eyes and ears. She went on to say she asks 13 years olds to be on birth control as well as married women with a husband that's deployed. Not only was she condescending, she was not empathic. Here I am sitting in this office feeling defeated and judged because I made a pledge to GOD and did not want to have sex and am unwilling to use birth control. It was the WORST feeling. She went on to say if you get pregnant you have to have an abortion and that doesn't align with my religious values and I don't want that on my conscious. I told Dr. Nicols I understood her position. However, as I stated before I am aware of the severity of the issues associated with Isotretinoin which is why I am not engaging in sex neither do I plan to. She later went on to say she doesn't know any physician that will write a script for Isotretinoin without birth control being involved and sent me on my way. After calling 1 other dermatology clinic and explaining my situation Dr. Stevens was more than happy to treat me! Let me be clear with any one suffering from acne and are abstinent, abstinence is an accepted from of birth control according to FDA administration read more

I went to see Dr? Superfon after seeing him on morning TV. I went with large spots of hair on my head falling out. After looking at my head for about 30 seconds, He said I have "Psoriasis"., and I need to sit under a sunlamp and apply a cream. For several years I followed his advise without any improvement. a few years later I was involved in a Motorcycle accident and My insurance sent me to a different dermatologist for road rash. He looked at the hair falling out and said there is NO WAY that is psoriasis. You do not lose hair with psoriasis. He said it looked like a CLASSIC EXAMPLE OF DISCOID LUPUS. (he was right) In the big book of Lupus, RULE 1: Avoid the sun. This loser doctor had me sitting under a sun lamp making everything worse. I don't think he is qualified as a medical doctor. If you want a boob-job, botox or a tummy tuck maybe this guy's the guy for you. If you have a MEDICAL condition, avoid this man like the plague. read more

I went to AZ derm for a biopsy on a suspicious spot on my eye, it came back as basal cell and i was scheduled for a MOHS procedure with Dr. Superfon. The day of my procedure everyone was really nice and I was sent home with a pressure bandage. When I took the bandage off the entire inside corner of my eye was sewn together and i looked like I had a lizard eye, the inside corner was now webbed. I have since seen a plastic surgeon and it's an entire other surgery to fix it. When I went back for my post op and to have the stitches out, there was not a dr in the office, the MA who removed the stitches agreed it was webbed and stated she was surprised they didn't have their plastics md close it after the procedure. If they have a plastics doc on staff WHY in the world would that not be offered to every patient to have their wounds closed, Especially if the wound is on the face?! I have to pay $1225 for a procedure that I'm going to have to pay a plastics doc to fix. I am so very disappointed. read more

I had one appointment in August 2020 for a routine skin scan (the front office were talking amongst themselves and would let the phone ring and go to voicemail and even commented that they would get the voicemail later as they wanted to continue their conversations) they took a biopsy from my neck and arm and said I should receive results within the next two weeks. I never received any results and the opening on my arm created by the dermatologist is embarrassing. It looks like someone without any training or experience cut into my arm (very jagged). She didn't use any sutures which I think were probably necessary based on the scar that has remained. On top of this, I just received a letter from a collections agency in May 2021, never having received a statement or phone call from the actual office prior to this letter. I called the office to ask if I had a balance which they confirmed then I asked why I didn't receive a statement or phone call prior to this letter. They told me to call the billing department who then told me they have 7 offices and they only call after patients are really past due because they have so many accounts to call on and they're really busy. Needless to say it was a poor experience from the initial phone call, checkin, office visit, biopsy, and now billing. I will not be returning. read more

So upset, I am a mom of 8. I have 3 in diapers and 1 breastfed. I had an appointment today for 9:45am. I paid my sitter, got kiddos fed, and nursed the newborn. Did my best to get there early and I was quite proud I showed up at 9:49am. I walked over to get at what her clock showed 9:50am. As I walked up I checked in and she began treating me as a criminal. I had just violated the rules and I was bring more than trash clearly. She said there was no way she would go back and even ask if they could take me and I was far to late to my appt. I was treated so badly in what was a lobby full of people I began crying, asked her if there was anything I could do as I just paid my baby sitter and I can never really get out of house for myself. She looked at me and said "morning or afternoon for reschedule". I began crying harder as I was so upset and felt so embarrassed so I walked out and said I would call later. Which I never will. What a horrible place with horrible customer service skills. So upset. Now to not let this ruin me entire day. read more

I go to the Mesa office and have always found the staff good to work with. They found melanoma on my shoulder that my last dermatologist didn't see so maybe I am a bit partial to these doctors. He has slowed the process of basal cells growing on my face by having me do a blue light treatment which has worked very well. My only complaint would be they could update their waiting area. After going back and forth on whether or not they had my referral info I said I will pay cash and they decided to book me. Well first Sonya tells me the next appt is June 28th and here it is May 12th. I reply, " Are you kidding me?" In shock from the delayed timing. She snaps back, " Why would I joke about that?". When I ask again is that the soonest appt she says yes. So I tell her I am in pain and need to be seen sooner than later. No response. I ask can I see a NP sooner than that? She says yes June 1st. Which is better than the 28th, but when I asked her why she didn't offer for me to be sooner with the NP she snaps back again, "Most people want to see the dr and not the NP." Why she didnt ASK me who I preferred was beyond me. Then she snaps back at me again that she is just trying to help me. I immediately called my PCP and changed to another derm office. I went to see the nurse practitioner. she ordered biopsy and cut a piece of skin from side of my cheek... results came back, inconclusive...I decided not to go back. the worst is trying to get a copy of my biopsy to be faxed to my dr., it's like pulling teeth, I emailed, called and called, and had to call again to make sure it's faxed, and they told me they only fax on Fridays... unbelievable. read more

I went on a referral to have a spot looked at. I waited past my appointment time to be seen. The Nurse practitioner spent a total of 10 minutes with me. She said the spot was nothing to worry about, but she could spray it, and it woud go away. She sprayed 10 seconds worth of "freeze" spray on the spot and said she would see me in a year. I was billed not only my $ 50.00 deductable, but I received another $ 100.00 bill in the mail for the 10 second "freeze" spray. When I called and asked if the billing was correct, the billing department was less than friendly. Yup that is what you owe. It is more about the cosmetic procedures that the rich can afford I think, than about the regular person. Someone should have let me know there was going to be an extra $ 100.00 charge. My wife and I scheduled a yearly check up and for convenience purposes we scheduled one right after the other with the same (not doctor but nurse practitioner). My wife was 1st and said her exam took less than 5 min. I was in the next room. My exam took about the same time, the only difference was that I needed some cream for my nose. Evidently there was a program for this particular prescription that after the first of the year was no longer honored by a certain vender. The N.P was not aware this had changed so her assistant went to check to make sure. After a few minutes her assistant came back and confirmed they could not use the program they were using after the first of the year. With that being said, my exam took slightly longer because of the confusion, and them having to explain the how to use the medication. They told us that they would send the bill to the insurance company and then bill us accordingly. When we received our statement for the exams, my general yearly check up was $30.00 more than my wife's. When we called to find out why they said it was because I had more going on. WHAT??? This was just a yearly check up and I did not have a biopsy, surgury, or any other issue that required any more than a negligible difference of time. As a matter of fact, I beat my wife out into the lobby. The only difference was my RX for some cream. Evidently it must be $30.00 to write a prescription..... When I go into see my doctor for a yearly checkup he charges the same price no matter what I have going on and if I need a prescription he writes it free of charge. Not that big of a deal Just irritating and don't like the more going on explanation. A check up is a check up......... Won't be returning read more

Very dissatisfied with the practice. Primary mission is "quantity" - at the expense of quality. They will Biopsy anything. Technicians perform the majority of the tasks ranging from injections to suturing and dressing removals, quality of the biopsy procedures leave a lot to be desired. Dr. G. has no regard for any future scarring that will occur, does not see you as a post op patient and does not call or care about your Biopsy lab results. Very money/quantity focused practice without the patient's best interests being considered. You can do much better at other practices in the community. read more
