Absolutely unacceptable billing practices. I was overcharged for a preventive screening -- something that is 100% covered by insurance. Not "maybe covered." Not "partially covered." Fully covered. And instead of automatically correcting the overpayment once insurance processed the claim, this office just... keeps the money unless you call and demand it back. Let that sink in. They will not issue refunds automatically. The patient has to catch the mistake and call. How many patients never even realize they were overcharged? How many people assume the office knows what it's doing and trust the bill? This office handles insurance claims every single day. They know how preventive services are billed. They know preventive screenings are covered at 100%. Pretending confusion or acting like this is some unpredictable insurance mystery is insulting. This isn't a rare coding anomaly -- it's routine, standard billing. Patients shouldn't have to audit their own medical bills to make sure a provider isn't sitting on their money. If you overcharge, you fix it. Automatically. Period. If you go here, scrutinize every single bill and compare it to your EOB. Apparently, that's the only way to make sure you're not quietly overpaying. read more

No one answers the phone. I left 6 messages and no one ever called me back. When I finally was able to get an appointment, the Dr spent all of maybe 5 minutes or less with me. Did not validate my concerns or questions, and made me feel so dumb, but yet, immediately scheduled me for a procedure. There's no patient portal and no email to contact anyone. However, when you have a procedure scheduled, they text and email you numerous times to make damn sure you bring in your payment or they will refuse the procedure. I can't honestly recommend this place. There are other options out there. read more

The name Gastrointestinal pretty much describes the type of Medical care. After one colonoscopy I needed an immediate recall due the findings of first I was put off 4 wks JUST for an office consult. Not happy with that level of unconcern on their behalf, when I on the other hand with my imagination all over the map beyond miserable waiting. During that time my home sold and I'm moving back to my home state. I kept the follow up appointment but I will continue my care elsewhere. Dr Klein is a sweet caring Physician. I highly recommend him. His staff, depending who you get answering the phone will or can be helpful. Often you're sent to a VM or not answering at all. That happened to me several times. I had problems every step of my experience to include getting a chemical rash after my procedure, showing up and being told I wasn't scheduled for a procedure, them informing me I was getting two procedures just to tell me I'm only getting one right before going into the procedure, never answered my phone calls, called back only after I complained in person that no one was calling me back, wouldn't give me my biopsy results for an extended period, didn't test me for something they said they were going to test me for and on top of it, the medical assistant was sassy and unprofessional. Read all these negative reviews b4 scheduling and was thinking maybe I should find a different doc/clinic. SO GLAD I DIDN'T!! My first appointment was at the location by TMC with PA Kelly Green. The front office staff were friendly and the office was really nice and new. I waited maybe 5 minutes to be seen. PA Green was really knowledgeable, listened, answered questions, made recommendations, etc. She recommended a couple procedures. The back office staff who scheduled them were also excellent, explained everything, and scheduled my procedures w Dr Allen. So far I've had one of the procedures and EVERYONE, including the doc, the nurse anesthetist, RNs, etc at the Surfery center were awesome! Don't listen to all these negative reviews. This place is a total zoo!They have way too many patients waiting. We're talking 30+ people waiting in the waiting room to be seen. They call you to come pick up a patient when that patient is nowhere near ready ....leaving you in a hot car with your air conditioning running. After checking with the front office, they told me to go around back and that they would walk my neighbor out right away. 25 minutes later I am still waiting. I just had a horrendous phone call with an office manager named Nicole. I hope the owners listen to it. She cut me off , scolded me because I used dr Allen's first name that I could recall as I was working and didn't have her last name handy and raised her voice throughout the call unnecessarily. I'm still really just in shock. All this and I could not schedule she said " this isn't going to work". I've been a nurse 35 years and never once had any kind of experience like this in healthcare. I went into this office in early November for a consult for colonoscopy. I was please to see a video in the waiting room that highlighted the importance of inclusivity and honoring diversity. After my interview with Lisa Medeiros, I heard her speaking with the another doctor about the up coming presidential election. The were loudly speaking in the hallway about their support of Trump and insulting the Harris (the Vice President of the US at the time). I was so offended at what was said I cancelled my appointment with them. I no longer felt safe. They may pretend inclusivity but they support a president that undermines DEI in the workforce, and don't have the professionalism to keep their political views out of a medical office. After trying to schedule for an urgent problem for over 2 months they called to reschedule my appointment that I made a month ago when I was fresh out of the hospital. I had to physically go in to their office to make an appointment because you never get a call back. I had tried calling 4 times with no call back. My Dr sent in an 'urgent' request to which I got no reply. When a girl called to 'reschedule' 2 days before my appointment ( that was scheduled over a month ago) I told her I had to rethink even using their practice. In the middle of telling her why, she interrupted me and said she wasn't interested in that, she was only calling to reschedule. I told her that was the wrong answer. She could have just said "I'm sorry" and we'd have gone from there. I did not reschedule and am now back at point zero. read more

Rude, careless, incompetent arseholes! I wish I had read the reviews before coming here and being treated so terribly. The girls in the front office are the meanest, nastiest people I have ever dealt with! They will leave you standing there for 20 minutes while they type on their computer and visit. Office visit took almost three hours, and then I was told to get my blood drawn. When I went to get my blood drawn several days later, I learned they hadn't sent the order. Went to the office where I was told I would have to wait again, because they couldn't send the lab order electronically or by fax. There is so much wrong with this place, there's not enough room to type it all. If you don't tolerate their disrespect, they will point to a sign saying they are allowed to kick you out of the building. Disgusting way to treat sick people. I had a first appointment earlier this week. It took me 6 months to get that appointment. While I was completing the paperwork in the lobby, I observed Nicole, the office manager, get increasingly hostile with a middle aged Black lady patient in the lobby. The other patient had not raised her voice or been hostile or bothering anyone, when Nicole got in her face and told her that she had been "too loud and angry," and Nicole was kicking her out and wouldn't get to see her doctor (Dr. Tsai). Nicole saw me (I'm white) watching this interaction, and asked me if I was with the other women. I told her I was not, but I had not seen the other patient being difficult, and asked that she just be let to see her doctor. At that point Nicole told me I also would not get to see my doctor (Dr. Allen). She also told us she'd called the cops on us. It doesn't matter how amazing their doctors are. If this is how their staff treats patients - playing G-d and cancelling their medical care because they don't like how people look or watch them - then their care is atrocious. I honestly don't know what to do, because I guess I'm waiting another 6 months for a referral elsewhere, but I would not go back there. read more

This place doesn't even deserve 1 star. This is the WORST Dr. Office I have EVER dealt with. The staff is rude, they schedule procedures and when you have them done, they never answer their phone or call you back to schedule the follow-up appointments. I LITERALLY have been calling for 2 months trying to get a follow-up appointment with no return phone calls after leaving over 5 messages. Ok so I don't want to go into the obvious irony of being treated like a piece of S@$@ by a bunch of a$@holes :) But I have never been treated with such callous incompetence. I been on the same medication for 5 years and been stable long as I take it. A couple of MONTHS ago I had a standard refill request made by Walgreens. I waited patiently but by a week went by and the order was cancelled twice due to lack of response by the office, I decided to call the office . I then spent 3 weeks trying to get through and see what was the hold up. So I called them but it just wants to voice mail after 3 WEEKS of not getting a callback , then found a new doctor. This treatment was not only rude, disrespectful but pure medical incompetence and negligence. After all, I was calling to get a refill on something they prescribed. If you think people can go weeks without the prescription, why the f@& was it prescribed? Nothing makes me more disgusted than those who are meant to help the sick, but instead treat them like cattle to be milked for insurance. I have filed a complaint with the AZ medical board and having the situation looked at by a lawyer for gross medical neglect and incompetence. I urge you to take more action than just a bad review, File a complaint with the AZ Medical Board so they can be investigated and loose their license. read more

Worst GI I've been to ever. Dr Allen was wonderful and had a straight forward plan and explained it well and had a plan B lined up. But their administration is TERRIBLE. Took 4 months to even get the first appointment and I've been trying for two months to get my first follow up appointment to the initial treatment. They won't even call me back. They won't call my PC back. They referred me out to somewhere that doesn't take my insurance. They book way way too many patients too which I'm sure what it issue is. There's barely standing room in the wait room before they start taking people back in the morning. They're literally making people suffer for the ahcccs kickbacks they get by making them wait months to even schedule then months to be seen. read more

I was referred to AZ Gastroenterology by my primary doctor after issues with my last gastroenterologist. It took 19 calls to get through to a person to try to schedule an appointment, and when I did finally get through, they told me they could not schedule with me because I had seen another gastroenterologist within the past year. They told me to call back when it had been a full year since my last appointment with another provider and hung up. Beyond that, they do not have an option to stay on hold, and their answering machine does not consistently pick up either. Do not try to schedule with them if you have seen another gastroenterologist within the past year--they will refuse you! read more

Dr. Tsai & medical staff in the back are friendly and professional. Front office staff are rude & unprofessional. When I went to the window, instead of being greeted, the woman with the inner tube lips, off center lower lip piercing and ridiculous eye lashes (it was Halloween , so perhaps she was going for a clown look) said, "I'll be back." She immediately went around the corner & came back in a couple of minutes. Then, instead of greeting me like any normal human, she said, "name." Then, "I'll need your id & insurance card." She never smiled and acted like she was mad the whole time. I'd it so hard to be polite? This was a good interaction compared to others I've had in the past. I only come here because my primary doctor practically insists. If you can go anywhere else, I would suggest you do so. This many negative reviews can't be wrong. I don't know why they don't get rid of these rude people in the front office. Also the wi-fi is terrible. read more

If you go here just for a colonoscopy, they are fine but if you need to see a Dr regularly for treatment, you are out of luck. Unlike every other medical group, you don't get to schedule appointments at the front desk rather you have to call in and try and find on the phone the correct number for your Dr's assistant. If you are lucky enough to find the right person, they can usually help you to schedule an appointment., If not and they do not return your call, you are out of luck. One star is generous for what might go done in history as one of the most poorly organized and incompetently run medical group I have ever experienced. I received a referral to AZgastroenterology on La Cholla. when I call to make an app. they tell me they can't find my referral information. They give me a non private email claiming that's the only one they have, to send a copy of my referral to them. they claim they never received the email. I send it for a 3rd & 4th time using a different email address to email it from, and receive messages saying email denied and other refusals. This they call me back, and tell me it's not their office I want, it another azgastroenterologists office, with the exact same name. but my referral has the phone number and address to the one that is denying me the ability to simply make an appointment. they don't give me the phone number or any information who this exact other AZ gastroenterologist office is? I called my primary care and asked about the referral, and they say the referral is correct. this office has nothing but 1 star ratings, all complaints! read more

I have never seen such unprofessional behavior as I witnessed at this office. The office manager was extremely unprofessional with a patient and was screaming in the lobby in front of all of the patients that were waiting to be seen. Instead of taking the patient into her private office to discuss the issue at hand she did it all in front of everyone. The patient was asked to leave along with another woman that stood up to defend her. The whole experience was shocking. I certainly hope that the doctors review the incident that I would think was recorded on their cameras and recommend training on how to address issues with patients so that another patient is spared the humiliation that this woman had to experience. I took my sister in today to get a procedure and I was completely mortified with the main lady at the front desk. She was completely unhinged when dealing with Spanish speaking patients. She was "helping" an elderly woman and she couldn't understand her and the front desk lady got so frustrated she got up out of her chair and got in the lady's face pointing her finger in her face. A kind patient stepped in and came to the defense of this poor elderly woman and scolded the lady at the desk. She was also yelling people personal information for the lobby to hear. Do not come to this location unless you want to be treated like garbage and have all your personal business aired out for everyone to hear. read more

The person I have seen several times has repeatedly gotten my case history incorrect even though I attempt to straighten them out every time. To top it off, they charge me more for the copay than I should be paying, causing my insurance company to refund money from EVERY visit. I have been going to this office for procedures for about 7 times. Dr. Leon Tsai is the best. He is very knowledgeable, friendly, funny and professional. I will be seeing him soon. We have never have had any problems with Dr. Tsai or his office staff. The staff has always treated us promptly, professional and friendly. Our son who passed away had Dr. Contreras and he is the one that recommended me to this office. I will highly recommend this office to anyone that needs special care. I don't know the other doctors but I can say Dr. Tsai is a 10+. Great Job!! read more

My husband had troubles with his stomach for months. Finally we sought help from Dr. Klein. He did an endoscopy, biopsy, cauterization and then prescribed medication that has mostly alleviated the problem. The staff and Dr. Klein are so easy to work with. I recommend them highly. read more

Went to the E/R on 1/14/20 with acute diverticulitis. E/R doc gave me an IV of meds and prescribed another 10 days of antibiotics. He suggested I get a regular GASTRO Dr. so I wouldn't have to come back to the E/R. I did and chose Az. Gastro. I made an appointment and got a nurse practitioner not a Dr. Scheduled me for a colonoscopy in Mar. At the end of my antibiotics I was experiencing dizziness, malaise, periodic pain and occasional chills. After a couple sharp stabbings pains in my lower abdomen 10 days later I figured the infection was still lingering. Called Az. Gastro for some advice of what to do ( possibly another ct scan, another round of antibiotics, e/r visit etc...) Could not get anybody by phone and nobody returned my phone call until 4 pm. In the meantime I ended up in the e/r again. Totally frustrated and angered. read more

I'm sorry to say this practice is too disorganized to provide reliable care. They lose track of patient records, and cannot keep a basic schedule on track. Last year, they rescheduled on me so many times that my appointment ended up being something like 3 months later than originally scheduled (while I was really sick and in need of help too). Today was the last straw for me. On Weds, 5/11 I had an appointment confirmation phone call for my appointment today. When I showed up to the appointment this morning, I was RUDELY told I had no such appointment and the doctor I was meant to see was not even in the clinic. But the thing is, my partner and I both very clearly heard the receptionist who called and said "X time on May 13." I still have the call in my phone's call log. The appointment was in my schedule for months. But apparently if they make a scheduling gaffe, I'm the person who deserves to be snapped at and condescended to because of it. Real nice. Professional af. Definitely worth the $$$. Yeah right. This is not the first time this practice has done something like this to me but it *will* be the last. I'm done. I will go somewhere else even if it's out of network. I do not recommend this practice. If you need medical care go somewhere that will actually give it to you instead of giving you BS and an attitude. and no appointment after five months of waiting... I'd like to add that I am now reporting this practice to the state in the hope that an investigation will prompt them to stop treating their patients like dogs. read more

Do not even consider going to this facility until reading all the negative reviews. The reviews tell it all! The overall rating is one star--0/5 stars. Their record-keeping rate "0". Not only is the front desk rude and disorganized, record keeping of the entire facility rates zero. My situation is extremely bizarre!!! Unbelievable!!! They don't even have a record of the doctor who I had an appointment with and actually visited with (Dr. Blinkoff). This facility should be reported to the State. ALL their records show I saw another doctor, Dr. Monash. When I realized that my colonoscopy was scheduled with the wrong doctor (Dr. Monash, who I never met with) and not Dr. Blinkoff, who I DID meet with, I tried to call the office (every day). No one ever returned my calls. Finally, I called the billing office. They were rude, told me again and again that I was "mistaken" and "confused" - also, that Dr. Blinkoff wasn't even in the office that day!! I kept insisting that I had seen him and even mentioned to him about my friend who he knew quite well. They would hear nothing of it and never even offered to investigate or review their records. All they kept saying was that I was "confused" and that I had seen Dr. Monash, not Dr. Blinkoff. Unbelievable!! Finally, I personally went in person the next day and asked if I could see Dr. Blinkoff for 5 minutes - "Not possible, he is scheduled with patients all day and besides, I wasn't his patient". I insisted I WAS his patient. Finally, I asked to please give him a letter I had written - marked "personal", asking Dr. Blinkoff to please contact me to acknowledge that I did meet with him (based on him acknowledging that I mentioned my friend's name to him if nothing else). The nurse implied that she couldn't give him the letter because I wasn't "his patient". So, I'm sure he never received my letter. Arizona Gastroenterology's record-keeping and integrity should definitely be reported to the State. My situation is "bizarre" and I know it sounds unbelievable that records show that something like this could happen! I met/saw a doctor that they swear I never met with!!! Really like Dr. Monash & all medical staff that help him with procedures. They have been thorough& fairly compassionate, & he has come up with alternative meds for my microscopic colitis & GERD. However several of the office staff & his medical assistant are rude & are derelict in their work. Today is another episode of the MA not returning a call Dr Monash requested I do related to a Rx change (Sarah, this means you.) The last time I had so much pain I should have gone to ER, but I kept waiting not knowing how serious it was. Not sure whether to change doc since I trust him, but his staff is scary. read more

I was referred to Dr. Allen. I was told I could see her sooner if I went to Green Valley. I agreed. I went to Green Valley an hour drive each way, only to discover they had scheduled me with a PA who was not Dr. Allen. I answered PA's questions after which he suggested medication or surgical implant with no effort to schedule tests to determine the source of the problem. He then agreed to get me into Dr. Allen in a few weeks. He didn't. Calls were unreturned. I then attempted to retrieve my medical records from prior doctor that they were supposed to copy and return to me. No contact from PA, no return of medical records and today when I called and followed prompts to obtain medical records from medical records department the prompt said it was not a working number. For those of us with medical issues that need to be addressed, it was a shocking third world response. Sad. I will now attempt to get my own records by asking my primary care referring provider to request them. I have no idea if they can provide good medical care but based on their business model I would avoid them if possible. read more

The staff and billing office is horrible. I too was charge a co-pay for a procedure that my insurance company said didn't require a co-pay. I have spent 9 months trying to get reimbursed and every time I call I'm told that my case has been "escalated." Apparently by escalated they mean thrown in the garbage and ignored. read more
