Molly the Magician beyond exceeded my expectations!! My 14 yr old has been seeing the same stylist her entire life and now that he's unavailable we needed to find a new stylist. Up until this point, she's only trusted mom to handle any coloring..but after going dark indigo and then wanting to return to her natural blonde, I knew this battle back to beautiful would be WAY above my pay grade. We attempted to fix it at home, but couldn't overcome The Copper Monster that hides behind any shade of black! Late last night I begin searching for a color expert with enough experience to slay this beast! I came across Arizona Hair Co and was impressed by the 17-18-22 years of experience held by a majority of their colorists at my nearest location, so I decided to roll the dice and accept whichever expert was first available--This is where the hair gods intervened and delivered unto me...Mrs Molly W! She didn't have the edgy look and crazy hair color you'd expect to see on a master colorist(idk if that's an earned designation in the hair world and if so, who knows if she "earned" it or has it...but take my word for it, she's a master at her craft). She didn't do anything crazy or anything that you would be able to see by just looking at a picture of my daughter's hair, but that's exactly where the magic lies!!! She made my daughter look just like she's supposed to--that's what we had asked for when we showed up all brassy light auburn with blue black remnants leftover on freshly chemically treated porous overgrown hair (covered in dead ends)--yep!! Surprise Molly! We signed up for color correction and now we need a cut too!! So you thought you'd be able to see your 2nd client tonight, NOPE!!! You'll be rescheduling that, lol! But here's the thing-- we didn't ask for the cut. We would have been happy to just have the color fixed, but Molly's desire to get it right the first time wouldn't allow her to schedule a follow up appointment for the cut--she wanted to send my girl back to junior high tomorrow, feeling confident and looking her absolute best (she clearly remembers what it's like to be a 14 y/o girl). None of us expected this battle against the blue to take 4 hours. Mollys exceptional co-baddie color master ninja warrior(I didn't catch her name) discreetly ensured that Mollys schedule was cleared for the night without making us feel like a bother in the least bit which allowed her to stay focused on the fight! So after lightening (with another unexpected sneak attack by the copper monster), toning, re-coloring and an amazing cut--Molly returned my beautiful natural blonde baby to me!! But wait, there's more!! 1. My daughter LOVED Molly and felt 100% comfortable discussing what she wanted with her. This was magic in itself because my kid is the kid that tells mom and makes mom speak for her 2. Molly listened and really wanted to make sure she got the cut just right--and she did! As soon as we walked out the door my daughter said "THAT is my new hair person!! She's amazing!" 3. Molly never lied. She never promised success. She never guaranteed anything other than she'd do her best. She made sure we had a reasonable expectation of the potential outcome. I feel she underpromised and overdelivered--all hair professionals should have this skill. Molly is a true professional!! 4. This girl knows her craft! She's unbelievably knowledgeable and educational. It shows in the work she does and the way she does it..but also, just talk to her. She understands all the science and mathing when it comes to all things hair! 5. She's comfortable. This can't be learned but it's something all great hair professionals inHAIRantly need to be. Okay, so here's the thing. I have actually tried this salon before. Years ago, I came in for a color and a haircut. I asked for blue/purple and somehow ended up with maroon. I also asked for a masculine faux hawk, and they could not figure out the cut I was asking for. I never went back. Fast forward several years, and I honestly did not even realize this was the same salon until I walked through the door. I figured it had been long enough and decided to give them another chance. That was a mistake. This time, I brought in an actual photo OF MYSELF wearing the haircut I wanted. There was no guessing what I meant. I literally showed them what my own hair was supposed to look like. Instead, I was told afterward that I basically received the same haircut the stylist gives her sister. I asked for my haircut. I got GI Jane. I walked into the salon wearing a hat because I wasn't happy with my hair. I left needing the same hat to cover the haircut I just paid someone to fix. But the haircut itself isn't even the part that turned this from disappointing into absolutely unacceptable. We came back to calmly explain that the cuts were not what we asked for. Even members of their own team acknowledged that the finished cuts did not match the reference photos. Then the manager came in HOT. Not concerned. Not trying to understand what happened. Defensive, rude and disrespectful from the beginning. As someone who works in the beauty industry and manages a team that deals with clients every single day, I understand that sometimes a service does not go as planned. It happens. You cannot make every person happy 100% of the time. What matters is what you do next. When a client is already upset -- especially over their HAIR -- the answer is not to come at them aggressively, tell them they are wrong, grab their hair and insist that the cut is exactly what they asked for when it very clearly is not. Stacked and layered are not the same thing. And arguing louder does not suddenly make them the same thing. If one of my own team members responded to an already-upset client the way this manager responded to us, we would be having a very serious conversation afterward. A calm approach costs nothing. Listening costs nothing. Saying, "I can see why you're upset. Let's figure out what happened and what we can do," costs nothing. Instead, we were treated like the problem for pointing out that the service did not match what we specifically requested and showed in photographs. They are apparently moving to Bell and 75th, and I will absolutely make sure this review follows the business to its new location because moving buildings does not erase an experience like this. I've been coming to this salon for the past year and a half, but after this experience, I won't be returning. The two stylists I normally see were unavailable -- one on maternity leave and the other gone -- which I completely understand. However, this salon constantly rotates new stylists in and out, so walking in never really feels consistent. If you know, you know. I booked detailed appointments for both my mother and myself, clearly explaining exactly what we needed. I specifically scheduled time for a calico root refresh -- not an all-over color. When I arrived and started discussing the plan, I was told she didn't have enough time because the system showed me down for a basic all-over color. That made zero sense considering how specific I was when booking. Instead of taking ownership of the mistake, I was told someone must have booked it wrong. The solution offered? I could wait one to two hours and have another stylist finish it. No thank you. What really pushed this from "mistake" to "never again" was finding out the conflicting appointment she had was to get her own hair done. So my appointment -- that I scheduled properly and showed up on time for -- was essentially secondary. (my mom was getting her hair done so that's how I found out about this scheduling mistake being she really wanted her hair done) I wasn't even planning to leave a review because I usually don't waste time on places I just quietly stop supporting. But the lack of organization, accountability, and basic client respect is something others should be aware of. My first time going there I went for a perm. WhenI went home the curls didnt set so I was extremely dissapointed. I was hesitent but I emailed them and explained the problem. They had me come back and totally fixed the problem with no issues. The truely care about there customers more than just a professional level. Fabulous! I saw LeAnn for highlights and a cut. She did an AMAZING job! I am so happy with the results. I recommend her to anyone looking to do highlights (especially blonds). I wanted the highlights to look natural not chunky and blend the grays. If it wasn't my hair, I wouldn't know it was highlights, I would just think it is fantastic hair. Wow! I was desperate to get my hair curled for my graduation. I called numerous places and their pricing seemed unreasonable for just curling hair (no wash/ blow drying). I decided on a few more and came across Arizona hair. I spoke with Alexis and she was able to get me in the very next day in the morning (which was perfect timing for me as my grad started at 1). I came to my appointment and Alexis saw me right away. She asked what curls I wanted and what look I was aiming for. I gave her some vague answers but I am so glad I came here! She did an amazing job! I told her my curls never stay because of how straight my hair is, but she worked her magic and I can confirm the curls stayed until I took a shower before bedtime! When you go ask for Alexis AKA the fixer/ miracle worker As a customer services trainer/coach my expectations are high. Especially with upset customers. What was my worst nightmare turned into the BEST CUT and COLOR of my life. I called in so upset I was crying my hair was ruined and chopped and so YELLOW again after 2 years of gradually going gray I was back to step 1. When I called Marque was so kind and understanding he listened and showed such great care and empathy that he convinced me to give them another try. I had seen him in action before and wanted him but he already had a customer in the chair He built value on Alexis and after talking with her I reluctantly came back in and I am so glad I did. Alexis worked with me showing me samples and walking me through the process of what she could do. All the while Tati and Marquee kept me positive about the results. The end being I will never ever use anyone else but Alexis. She turned it all back around and now I am so happy. I had 2 big events to go to and I was complimented on my cut and color both times. This hair salon was recommended to me, not happy with the result. I paid over $40 with tip for a cut that I had to fix when I got home. Apparently the stylist doesn't know when giving a short cut that the neck area needs to be cleaned up for a clean look. Found a couple of areas that were uneven, fixed that also. She knows exactly what I want and gives me great advice on products to use and what not to use. She never steers me wrong. I went to this salon to get highlights, base color, and a hair cut. My first impression of the salon was that it was very, very dirty. The other stylists were swearing quite loudly. My stylist, though, was very nice. However, in the 3 hours it took to do my hair, it came out looking nothing short of horrendous. My highlights were orange and uneven. Some highlights weren't even the same color. She asked me if I wanted to tone it again, but she had already washed my hair 6 times and I just wanted to go someplace else. I paid 288 dollars to leave very unhappy. I went to a different salon not an hour later and they were able to re-do it for 1/4th of the price. read more

I had long, beautiful hair prior to coming to daijiah. Past my butt. I wanted to cut it and donate it. Daijiah didn't even cut it correctly so it could be donated. She cut about 5 inches off in a ponytail and then continued to lob my hair upwards. At any time Daijiah could have stopped said "hey I'm in over my head", "hey I need some clarification", "hey this is too big of a project for me", but she didn't. Instead she chose to completely butcher my hair. I asked for face framing starting at my cheeks. She gave me bangs. None of it is even. She herself took these pictures, so she can clearly see this wasn't an even cut. She RUINED my hair. Do NOT go see Daijiah. I went back the next day to see the manager Britinni. She asked a few times "so SHE cut this way up here??" "Yes, yes she did". Britinni admitted there's not really anything they can do to fix my bangs. She feathered them so they blend in more vs the cut that Daijiah did which was a blunt cut and made them stand out. Britinni fixed my hair as best she could seeing as Daijiah butchered it. I would go see Britinni again Do NOT go see Daijiah under any circumstances. I only added a star because Britinni was so great. If I could give 10 stars, I would. I am rarely in town these days and when I am, I'm more of a walk-in, next day appointment kind of girl. Patricia put my hair back to the way I used to love it years ago. I didn't even have to describe that I'd want it blonder in the front, she could tell that was exactly what I needed. When she told me she has only been doing hair for six months, I was absolutely floored. She makes amazing conversation, she's sweet, and she is very technical and knowledgable. My hair wasn't in the best of states when I came in and on my way out it felt longer and fuller than it has in years. It's taken me a long time to write this review because honestly, I was so dumbfounded and upset that I didn't want to review without a clear head. As you can tell from the rest of the reviews, if you get Sarah or Jessica, you're in the clear. Basically anyone else will give you a chop job. This review is solely to warn others. Here's my experience: I called to make an appointment and asked for the same girl my friend has seen for years, based on her referral. I was told she's not available for quite a while, but that someone else could do my hair. (I don't recall her name). I vetted her out through the girl that does my friend's hair and was told I'm in good hands. Yay! Appointment booked. Fast forward to the day of my appointment a month or two later. I'm told upon arrival that the girl I had an appointment with couldn't do my hair, but that someone else would take care of me. If this happens to you, RUN. I should have kindly asked to reschedule, but I was so excited to finally get my hair done, and I trusted the salon overall, I went forward with the appointment. Looking back, I feel I should have at least received a call before my appointment to ask if I even wanted to go forward before driving 30 minutes to the salon, but whatever. I honestly have no clue what my stylist's name was. I just remember she had purple and black hair. In my attached photos, you'll see the image I showed her for inspiration. I liked the way the highlights were done in the first photo. For the second photo, I showed her that once she suggested a subtle balayage. I told her I do NOT want to dye all of my roots because I want my natural color to continue growing in (I had 6 months of growth already). I told her that I already get grey hairs, so I asked if we could just do some super thin highlights to try and just embrace and blend it instead of trying to hide it. Lastly, I just wanted a trim. Just a simple trim. I wanted to keep as much length as possible while realistically knowing you have to trim to keep the ends healthy. The end product speaks for itself. I have no idea why she applied a red based dark brown to my roots and bleached the bottom half of my hair. My natural hair is "bronde" like a super light brown or dark blonde. She had suggested a "subtle" balayage and I agreed, again trusting her and her expertise. We sounded in agreement on what I wanted, but unfortunately that's not at all how it turned out. When she started applying color to the top I asked why but she said it's part of the balayage blend and it'll look good. Side note on this particular stylist - she repeatedly told me how much she didn't like working at this salon and that she wanted to find a new job. She probably quit shortly after (I hope). She even let her friends come in while I was under the dryer (while bleach was over processing) and cut their hair for free. While she was cutting, I noticed she kept pulling up the same section of hair and cutting at an angle. She actually made a contemplative face while looking at it and re-cut the same section about 4 times. This ended up creating an insanely random, short layer on the side of my head (in pics). She told me I was all set and after so many hours, I was just happy to get out of there. My hair was literally soaking wet on the way out, so I told my best friend I'd stop by her place to style it myself and show her my hair. It wasn't until it was dry that we realized how bad my hair was. I actually cried lol I know it's just hair, but after all the time and money, not to mention how long it had taken me to grow out my hair in the first place, I was heart broken. So yeah - long story short, find out who your stylist is and if it gets changed at the last minute, don't chance it. If you're wondering, I ended up not calling in to complain. I got the impression it wouldn't have mattered based on my interactions there and just wanted to wash my hands of the entire experience. read more

I set up an appointment for my daughter to get a haircut and gave MY phone number but they asked for her name(she doesn't have a phone). I accidently left my Stanley cup there after the service. I called the first time to let them know I left it and I would be back for it. Then I called again to say I couldn't make it when originally stated but would be able to make it in a few days. I was assured it was fine and the cup was there waiting for me. It took a week to make it back to the store(I'm a single mom with 2 kids and a 50 hr a week job). When I went to pick up my cup, they stated they couldn't find it. I left my name and phone number and received a call later that day saying a guests kid knocked it over and it broke so they just threw it away. When I questioned how it could break from a 3ft drop from the counter I was told right away, we are not responsible for your property. I replied, I never said you were responsible, I'm asking a question. The person who called me, Tara, was adamant that there was nothing more to it. Since she had no answers, I asked to have the owner call me back since she stated she got all of this information from the owner of the salon. She seemed very put off that I would ask to talk to the owner. When I asked when I could expect a call back, she told me the owner was very busy and couldn't give ANY time frame for me. My son is 10 and she 1st dry cut his hair (red flag) she never cleaned up his neckline or the sideburns. I came here for a color correction. I got balayage at another location and they didn't have any availability to fix some minor changes that same weekend, so I came to this location. My appointment was scheduled for 10 and I got here at 9:55. The stylist was waiting infront because they didn't have keys. Another stylist shows up and they don't have keys either. I was waiting out there with them till 10:15 when someone finally shows up to open. Then they tell me the correction is going to be At least 215+ when the lady on the phone said it would be covered since it is a correction within the same company and it just occurred. I don't mind paying money, but just felt like there was a lack of communication. So I let him know what they told me over the phone the day before. So then he says, "let me call my boss. We were suppose to speak about this yesterday and we didn't". He calls and she tells him it's free and I just have to pay for the cut, which I'm totally fine with! However, I had to wait an additional 10 minutes for this answer. So while my apt was suppose to begin at 10 AM, it is now 10:40 AM and he is barely mixing the bowls. I want to be frank that I totally understand things happen, but just felt like there was a lack in communication all the way around and the sense of urgency was not there. how can someone pay 233.00 for a cut and hair, and not receive what you asked for. especially spending four hours in the chair to get it. waste of money, waste of time, didn't seem like the girl i had, was experience in what she was doing. ridiculous, didn't even get all the grays and i told her that's what i wanted mainly to be done. when i has some what the same thing done before here by someone else cost me a hundred dollars less. she kept using lightner because it was drying faster then she could put it on. because of the door and fan. my hair is not what i wanted or paid so much for. doubt anything will be done about this. read more

Absolutely in Love with my Hair! I have curly, textured hair and it's difficult to find a good hair stylist who knows how to cut curly hair. Today, Molly cut my hair at this location. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my hair, when I went in. However, Molly guided me towards a great decision to help enhance my curls. Now, I am absolutely in Love with my hair! Laura did a great job on my hair yesterday! I do want to mention that I felt bad for her and the other stylist that was working yesterday morning. They were having a hard time operating the computer system, weird for a customer to take notice of that, but hard not to notice when Molly made multiple comments about it during the time I was there. Molly must be an experienced stylist and member at this salon, she had multiple clients that it was clear she had a good rapport with, which is great! There wasn't a receptionist working while I was there, so Molly had to leave her clients multiple times to help out people that were walking in and to also help Laura and the other stylist work the computer. Just the comments Molly made about having to help the stylist with the computer made me uncomfortable. One comment at one point was "you know you guys could leave your clients to do this too".. but just from what I saw, it was a good chance that if they did try to help, they probably would have needed mollys assistance with it.. I know how I feel when I am trying to work something I don't really understand, and if I had some of the comments made that Molly made to me while already struggling with something, I would just feel worse. Luckily, the clients Molly had to step away from to help out were extremely nice, patient, and understanding of the situation! The service Laura provided me was great! 3 of us came in for perms on 1/21/2019 and spent $280 including haircuts. By dinner our hair was straight. On 1/23/2019 came in and a nice lady at the desk took my number and told me "Ashley" would call back after 1pm. No calls. 1/29/2019 I stopped in again and was told by "QB" at the desk that her manager said there was nothing they could do for us. Would not give me a managers number or Corporate number. She did give me the hours that a manager would be available at the shop. My next step is a Better Business Bureau complaint. If we would of been told theirs a chance our hair wouldn't keep a perm that would be one thing. One of my friends were told that his didn't take because he "wasn't white" and did his twice that day. Brittini is such a wonderful stylist. I jacked my hair up with an at home color job and panicked because I go on vacation in a few days and can't be looking crazy. I called AZ hair co and they were able to get me in right away. I was nervous going to a stylist I've never met before but Brittini did a color correction on me and it's perfect. I just wanted to be lighter than I was and somehow I colored my hair dark gold/almost auburn but now I'm the perfect super light ash blonde. Don't get your brows done here. They didn't know what they were doing. Before doing my brows one asked the other "Alexis did you get those brows figured out" she said yes so I thought cool let's get this done. Another customer comes in also asks for her brows to be done and the the two girls were literally laughing in the back while I was waiting for my hair color to set (she said 10 mins and it was only 3 btw my hair is not caramel it's friggin blonde a week later because she washed it out too soon some of it is even white like wtf). They were laughing about how they didn't know what they were doing and were just guessing on my brow and the other girls. Completely messed up my brow and the paint was on my forehead and eyelid. It looked friggin ridiculous. I called and asked for a refund on my brows and they said they could touch it up but no refunds.. like what the heck is a touch up going to do?!? if the paint is where it's not supposed to be how are you going to touch that up? It looked like my brow was connected to my eye. I cried so hard. Will never come here again. read more

I have been going here for years. I have recommended this place to a friend and my mom. Both now go here as well. I called tonight to make an appointment and told the lady I needed a late evening appointment as I don't get off till 4. She said my lady I use had a 2 o'clock appointment on Friday. I explained that wasn't a late appointment and I would have to call back. She Copt an attitude and said fine and hung up. You would think with the Economy the way it is and people needing work she would be a little more helpful. Best part is she is the freakin manager. Britinni needs more people training. read more

My daughter went into Arizona Hair Co located at 5036 W Cactus Road in Glendale, AZ on January 27th, 2019 to have her hair professionally colored for the first time. She presented a photo of the color and style that she wanted. The stylist proceeded to color her hair. The finished color of her hair was not even close to what she asked for. She had requested something called a Lilac Ombre, which is a reverse gradient from crown to the end of the hair. Her hair turned out a maroon color and appeared faded and distressed. She was charged $185 and she left the salon in tears. My daughter has very dark brown hair. I feel that any experienced stylist should have known beforehand the result when working with naturally dark hair. If this something that they were unable to provide, she should have been advised. They could have sat with her or shown her color samples with the possibility of coming to some sort of consonance or explained it could be a multistage process. She went back to the salon and requested a refund. She was told they absolutely would NOT give her a refund, but however they could strip her hair. All she asked was they return her money as she did not receive the services she paid for. She was not going allow them a second opportunity to damage her hair, let alone over process it. While she was there another stylist came over and stated that she was present during my daughter's visit and witnessed her being extremely indecisive about what she wanted. My daughter stated that was not what happened. This was a false statement made by the other stylist. My daughter had shown the stylist a photo, knew exactly what she wanted and was assured that she was able to receive that look. Not only is this established incompetent, they also exhibited poor character when the other stylist attempted to turn blame towards the customer. I made numerous calls, to the salon and the main store requesting to speak with the District Manager or the owner. A woman by the name of Paula contacted me only ONCE on February 4th. At the time of the call I was sitting in a dentist chair and missed the message. I have not heard a word since. In my opinion, $185 is a lot of money to a young girl, aside from the fact paying $185 for a service you didn't receive. I feel my daughter is very much be entitled to a refund, or anyone else who experience such poor service. If you value your hair or your hard-earned paycheck, I suggest you try a different salon. read more

One of the worst haircuts I've ever had. I typically trust this salon with whatever stylist I'm given when making an appointment, but after my most recent experience I'm not going back. I asked for a simple haircut, take off a couple inches. My stylist for that day (unsure what her name is - had black and green hair) "finished" my hair cut in five minutes. I wasn't in the salon for more than ten minutes total. My hair is much longer on the right and when I asked for layering she took the thinning shears haphazardly around the ends of my hair. Going to have to go much shorter to get this fixed at another salon. read more

I'm not from around here but I saw that this place had pretty decent reviews. I came in for a trim and wash and my hair stylist was honestly super sweet, I forgot her name but she had blonde curly hair. However she gave me a pretty awful hair cut, it was like she grabbed a certain length of my hair and just cut straight through I didn't have any layers and she didn't thin my ends so they were super choppy and uneven I didn't realize till the next day because I had left the salon with my hair still pretty wet. Which was odd to me as well cause normally salons would blow dry and style your hair after the wash and cut. I had to go home and thin/ even my hair out on my own. Denise did a great job with my daughters haircut. My daughter has curly hair and wanted a lot cut. Denise was reassuring and talked her through taking baby steps to get to the right length. The cut and wash was $17. I'd definitely recommend it. The salon was nice and quite. The receptionist was helpful and gave us an accurate wait time. read more
