Made my first haircut appointment in Glendale, AZ online by reading some reviews on Yelp. Wanted to give myself a chance to form my own opinion about the business as well. Appointment was made with Missy but the day before the appointment it was changed to Tamara without any notification. I'm used to my stylist calling me first just to make sure I feel comfortable with another person styling my hair. The front desk was courteous and professional. Tamara, my stylist was very professional and took good care of me. Took about 6 inches off my hair per my request. My first reaction was too much hair product because my hair felt sticky and I didn't like the way my hair was styled. I normally put a beach wave using a flat iron and light hairspray. The last several haircuts I've had have been horrible. I decided to try a salon instead, because apparently a lot of places can't cut a simple short haircut. I called here and they had me in in about 20 minutes. I explained to Brea what I wanted and what I've been getting at other places and she told me she could fix me up. She did exactly that. Gave me a great haircut that even looked good without any product (that alone was amazing). I ended up getting a haircut that looked nothing like the picture I showed her, she also changed the time of the appointment to 4 hours later which I had to push back my plans for the day, I do believe that I was also at fault for not communicating enough about the shortness I wanted but even so the photo I showed her should been enough information of how I wanted it. I tried curling it but ended up not looking like the how the photo is. I came back the next day for a solution and they told me I had to pay $55 to get it fixed. Morgan did say that I should've been more clear about the shortness but even so the layer look nothing like the one in the photo even if the hair length was different, then I asked for a refund and Morgan gave me back $20 when I paid her $58 + tip. I had been going to the same woman for 20+ years but it was getting harder and harder to get an appointment with her as she started doing hair secondary. I logged into Yelp looking for a salon closer to home and found this gem. I was able to book Erica who had one appointment available that day (a Saturday). I booked, she confirmed and I prayed got good results. The outside is pretty non-descript but the inside is so cute and a total vibe. She let me show her some pics to give her an idea and wow she went above and beyond all expectations! She didn't try to talk me into or out of anything or upsell, and the conversation flowed easily. I had long hair and was going for an inverted bob and I have never had a more beautiful, precise cut done. I had an appointment with Tamara for consultation and she said she had time to do a haircut. She told me the style I had was too round and she could fix it. I have natural curly hair and like the stylist to work with the curl. She cut all of the curls off and proceeded to dry what was left straight. When I told her I didn't like it she offered to rewet it. She went to find a disfuser to use to dry it but didn't really know how to use it. Sarah is a colorist magician!! I moved to Arizona from Maryland in January and have tried a couple different stylists, unfortunately my color kept getting worse and worse. Enter Sarah. She spent hours on my hair to correct the orange, blackish brown color with a blast of grays that I brought to her chair. She shared what she was doing or thinking through with such concentration, it made me feel confident that this is finally going to work out. Sarah spent many hours patiently for the bleach to reach her goal (without damaging my hair), massaging one toner color on the top strand and another toner on the bottom of the same strand (so that my hair would even out and gradually transition into a lighter shade), and fighting my stubborn grays. Of course I had not seen the end result yet. As that time approached, Sarah started telling me that my hair is going to look darker than I wanted but it will look the way I want. She said she used a toner from the silver series which will give me the look I'm trying to achieve (which was a brown balayage with light blonde) but it is going to look dark. I kinda thought she meant before she washes it or drys it. Well, after washing, cutting, and drying my hair, it definitely looked 1000x's healthier and the color too but it was dark. I could see the silver highlights and was a little disappointed (inside) that I wasn't walking out with blonder hair. But I've been dying my hair for a very long time and knew it would lighten but I didn't know what color this would turn into. More importantly I was going to the Beyoncé concert the following week and I really wanted my hair to be lighter by then. Sarah told me it would look like I want by then and you know what, it sure did. As the toner settled, my hair looked exactly like I was hoping. It was a very flattering and beautiful color. I gave this place two stars instead of one because the salon itself is nice with a neat set up. My hairdresser Alexis is not someone I would recommend to ANYONE. I was charged a total of $170 for what ended up being fried brown hair. She didn't have the products needed to strip my hair of its color after trying for two hours. In the end she sent me on my way with wet hair and mismatched hair because she had plans to go out partying with her roommate, (her words, not mine). She scheduled me to come back in to finish my hair but in the end wasn't able to color it the color I asked and said for me to come back in a month. I go home again with wet hair only to find my hair literally just breaking apart. Now I'm stuck with frizzy, burned, and miscolored hair! read more
