Nice place to get Polish food. The fried fish and salads (sauerkraut and beets) were tasty. I love potato dumplings and while these were good, they didnt taste as gooey and fresh, and were pretty oily with the gravy. It seems a bit pricey but you get a good amount of food that can be shared.

This is what was in my Cabbage Roll on January 15 2021

Good Morning Arkady Bistro Cafe Family. So I didn't want to write this but the owner of the restaurant wants to act like he is a big shot so I'll show you guys how careful Arkady is with their safe food rights! So on January 15 2021 3:20. I had bought cabbage rolls from this restaurant now the food is good here BUT! How they handle their food is way more important to me. So I know how cabbage rolls are made! The fact that the cooks had let this slide I don't know. Thank God my tooth was only hurting and Not broken from this METAL PIECE. (THIS IS THE METAL PIECE THAT TIES THE END OF OFF THE GROUND BEEF BAGS!!) Now that day they did not take the cabbage rolls off till I suggested them to. I went back to the store and asked to speak to John who apparently is the owner. I spoke with John and he simply asked me what I wanted to do. Didn't take any Initiative as a owner at all. That day I was so busy at work I just wanted to eat as I said the food isn't bad just the food handling is what matters. I had took the rest of the food and left the cabbage rolls. That day I got a msg from John saying I have a certificate for $100.00 to pick up. I went picked it up okay. Now I moved and I had lost the certificates and I had asked John nicely hey I just moved do you mind if I come in and grab some food. I lost the certificates so do you mind just telling the girl and he says NO. That the stores gives out alot of certificates and he cannot comply to what he already agreed too. I don't know about you but I'm not even going to bother with Arkady because if you handle your food with such care look how you handle your customers and that is why I will NOT BE COMING BACK. YOU ARE A COWARD TO YOUR WORD JOHN AND YOU NEED TO INSTA BETTER FOOD HANDLING INFORMATION WHEN COOKING AND BAKING FOOD. Anyways enjoy and be safe eating with Arkady it's good but no safe food handling processing !!!

    Chicken schnitzel dinner

Arkady Bistro is located near the south east intersection of Burnhamthrope and Dixie in Mississauga just one light south of Burnhamthorpe. Arkady is a cafeteria style place that serves mostly eastern European style dishes and also has dessert and coffee. While there are specials daily such as pierogies, Hungarian pancake etc there are also mainstay dishes like pork ribs, schnitzel (pork and chicken), fish and so on. Dinner plates are typically large servings with a wide variety of sides and salads to choose from. So far I've been twice so far and I've been able to try the chicken schnitzel as well as the fish and on Fridays they have pierogies as a main as well. For sides while they have dumplings and potatoes they also have sauerkraut and other hot sides but on the right side of the counter they have a choice of colder sides and salads such as cole slaw, cucumbers and beet salad. While there are some other reviewers here saying it's not made to order and that food is kept warm in heating trays, new food is brought out often and in the few times I've been they've having to bring out new trays from the back because they sell quickly. The turn around on the food is quick when it sells quickly of course. While I didn't want to wait 10 minutes for pork schnitzel to be made fresh, I had the option to wait. My brother had ordered pierogies and he had to come back to the counter when they brought them out. Basically when it's dinner time on a Friday, the food is not sitting around for a long time. Both the fish and chicken schnitzel I've had, the coating was crisp (freshly fried). I like the choices of food at Arkady and even though it's cafeteria style the food is definitely fresh. Between new trays being cycled out and the hot food being hot, the cool side is cool. The salads/veggies are crispy/crunchy and the quality if good. Seating can be a challenge here. The place can get pretty busy. They don't really have tables for groups, maybe 4 max with a few doubles scattered. There's a stand up ledge just outside where I've seen patrons drink coffee and smoke. This place seems to also be a hang out as well as a place to grab a decent sized plate of food. They only take debit or cash.

Just ok for me! Like Bernie mentioned, food is on warming trays, so not freshly prepared. And I also found the food a bit on the bland side. Could've used a bit more salt/seasoning. If you have a meat & potatoes type palate, then this is the place for you! Nothing really awakened my taste buds. Beet salad was probably the best thing on my plate. At least you know it's relatively healthy, I guess? Yes, the portions are pretty large and you don't really hafta tip, but I *think* Cafe Polonez (High Park) had similar prices, was made-to-order, and was tastier. If it's your first time, you may be a bit overwhelmed as menu board is not very descriptive. It just says "Cabbage Rolls - $11", but then you have to ask how many rolls it includes, are any sides, etc. etc. Most full sized meals were ~$12-13 and you can get half servings for $7, but you cannot get half-sized soups which was a bit of a disappointment because I did want to try beef tripe...without paying $11, it did NOT come with any sides.

Beef stew! Delicious homemade Polish cuisine. Massive portions for cheap!

Great food but the staff are robotic in nature! Liven it up Arkady!! I would recommend bringing some balloons to cheer up the atmosphere.

The restaurant is small, but vast enough that you won't feel squashed. The "buffet" is situated to the side, with menu items framed behind it on mounted shelves and a mural painted next to the shelves. You tell them what you want and they scoop it for you. A TV plays in the very back and the drink cooler sits across from the buffet as well. We ordered the following: Cabbage rolls combo with buckwheat and cabbage on the side. It was basically stuffed cabbage. Hubs & daughter thought this was good, but it was no big deal. It was ok. Mushrooms and cabbage pierogi and cheese and potatoes pierogi - Overall these were good but we've had better. Hubs only had the mushrooms and cabbage pierogi and he said that he enjoyed this better than the entrees. Somehow, he didn't get to try the cheese and potatoes pierogi. Schnitzel with green beans and potato pancake- Daughter liked the schnitzel and thought that the sides were ok. Hubs thought the schnitzel and the potato pancakes could've used a little more crisp and that it should be fried a little bit longer. Taste wise was ok. The string beans were overcooked and reminded him of school cafeteria. He always wanted to try it but felt disappointed. Tripe soup - We over got to eat this while there, so Hubs had it a few days later. He said that this was pretty good. It was beefy and the tripe was nice and soft. This was one of the better tripes he's had in his lifetime. Daughter is diabetic and wanted diet soda but they didn't have any, so she ended up getting water. The restaurant was cute but it was cold. All the patrons were wearing coats. Place could use some heat. Service was friendly and quick, though. Glad we got to try it, though.

The restaurant itself looks a bit old, and may need a renovation in the near future. Service is wonderful, with the cashier giving us the food quickly, along with a smile. A great experience overall, and would recommend to someone who wants authentic Polish food!

Stephania's Pierogies offers at least a dozen flavours - BOTH savoury and sweet! A bag of approx. 2 dozen pierogies is $6. On my way out, another Polish customer was walking in, so that definitely added to the authenticity! Pierogies were really good! Much better than the run-of-the-mill pierogies available at your grocer's freezer. Starsky's carries these pierogies for $6.99, so it's slightly cheaper at the "outlet". Will stop by again and maybe try the sweet ones? They sort of freak me out tho.

I love the traditional sauerkraut series, but also the sour cherry and strawberry and blueberry look nice. Even the generic potato, cheese, and bacon pierogies which are common throughout Canada are taken to the next level by Stephania's. Good price and the women are always nice. Worth the stop, stock your freezer with a few bags and have European comfort food on your table in 15 minutes. I like to serve savoury ones with caramelised onion, bacon, and sour cream but good enough to enjoy plain or with butter. I serve sweet ones with powdered sugar and a sweet sour cream and cream cheese topping. I even bring these when I visit my grandmother in America and it's a nostalgic experience like she and her mother used to make. Cash Only!

The owner (I believe she is the owner) greeted us and told us we could sit anywhere. She brought us water and menus. My sister and I ordered 2 cabbage rolls, Potato and Cheese Pierogies, Meat Pierogies with bacon and onions to share. For my son, we tried ordering the schnitzel sandwich, but was told that was unavailable. My son doesn't eat mashed potatoes so I asked if I could just order him a schnitzel and she said yes. The food came out in about 15 minutes. The cabbage rolls were fantastic, the perfect amount of acidity in the sauce. I really don't like tomatoes or cabbage, but there is something special about the cabbage rolls. I ate very bit of mine. The pierogies were wonderful. I usually prefer just potato and cheese, but honestly between those and the meat, I couldn't decide which I liked more. Both were flavorful especially with the sauteed onions and sour cream. My son's schnitzel was huge! He could only eat about half of it and when my son asked for ketchup (much to my dismay) the owner was very nice about it and commented that's the way her daughter likes it too. Honestly the food was absolutely wonderful and the service was great. It was very similar to what I had in Poland. If this restaurant was closer to my home I would visit often. We had no issue with parking. We were able to get a spot on the street right in front of the restaurant. Parking was also not too expensive since you aren't in the downtown area. If you are in the area and want a wonderful meal, be sure to visit.

Bar 4 U has been on my bookmarks for quite some time. I've been meaning to visit for a while, but the last time was on a Friday night and my companion was intimidated 'cause she didn't see any visible minorities inside, so we left. To me though, this is a GOOD sign as I usually judge a place by their patrons. So if a Polish sports bar is only filled with Polish people, that means the food is pretty authentic! On the other hand, a Chinese restaurant filled with Caucasian people = no bueno. :) During my visit, atmosphere and service were slightly - just slightly - better than the food. Even though 3 salads accompanied dishes, 2 of them had bottled Italian dressing so they tasted pretty much the same to me. Some of the lettuce and the lime wedge that came with the water were browning on the edges. So prepped beforehand, not super duper fresh. Pierogies were better than the kopytka (pieces of potato "dumplings"). Prior to ordering the Kopytka with the Goulash, we asked if it was the same goulash on menu, e.g. beef. The waitress confirmed it, but goulash was definitely pork. Food was more homestyle, so not doused in salt. Food was solid, portions were fairly big, but I've had better Polish food elsewhere. I wouldn't be opposed to going back though to try other items on menu! Tip: They have 2 large screen tvs, playing 2 different types of sports. So perhaps it would be a good place to see a match!
