I adore this veterinary hospital. I originally brought my dog here for a checkup, and they caught a lump in his mouth. Through the process of scheduling, surgeries, testing, etc they have been so gracious, kind, and informative. The surgeon scheduled me in between surgeries to get my dog the immediate attention he needed. I am not from IN and my vet at home has been caring for my pets my whole life, so I was very weary of a new vet. Everyone here is so helpful and thorough, and the vets explain everything in detail, and value my needs financially and as an owner. One vet tech had spent her lunch break spending time with my dog (of her own accord, I never asked her to) so that way he didn't have to be lonely. I highly recommend this vet to anyone looking for quality care. The staff truly care about your animals, and you can tell they just love being around them. I also looked at some negative reviews... I am talking about the Northside clinic. I saw a lot of them were south side reviews. I was reading a lot of people had difficulty getting ahold of the vet. Whenever there has been concern about my dog, the doctor calls me directly. When I have left voice messages, the doctor calls me back promptly. At my first checkup, I spoke directly to a doctor. The only time I did not speak directly to a doctor was one time after a dental cleaning and histopathy, but that was because the doctor had gone into another surgery, and the nurse who talked to me answered all my questions and explained everything in such detail. read more

We love Arlington Heights, Dr. Breeze specifically! I love the new facility, it's always clean(we certainly leave a ginormous amount of fur behind) and haven't encountered another pet in the common areas even once. That is a huge relief, my dog doesn't typically do well with other dogs. That's usually a huge stress factor for me which I'm sure my dog senses. This place is a rip off!! Used to love them but never again. They are quick to get you in and out without even a correct diagnosis so you just keep coming back and paying more. Also, if you do get the right one and your pet requires monthly medication they refuse to allow you to fill it anywhere else besides with them, of course unless you want to pay $37 for them to write you a script to give somewhere else each time. I should be allowed to get my pets prescription where I want that is convenient for me and better priced, what a rip off! Some people need home delivery and to save money but they will not allow that. read more

I have been taking my pets to the southside location for years. I have been happy with the care. However, when my pet got ill (probably just a bad cold) and I called to see if the vet could see him that day. They told me that it would be a $300 deposit for an emergency visit and she had most of that spent before I even committed (x rays, oxygen, all day or overnight stay, etc). If this is the case with an established patient, it tells me that they do not care at all. It felt very predatory (oh your pet is sick, of course you will pay). Time to find a new vet. The only way to stop this is by removing your business from them. read more

I suppose this technically goes for both locations, and is based on my last visit. I transferred my care recently from another vet and I am SO grateful! My dog had Cushing's, and I knew he was getting near his end. I had his first visit to Arlington about a month ago. I thought it was his time, and the doctor saw the spark in his eyes and said the old boy wasn't done and prescribed him arthritis meds. I had mixed feelings about the pharmacy that they use, but after this experience, I have nothing but praise for the pharmacy also! But first - I described his symptoms, which were a sign something major was going on. They got me into the north location that day so he could be put down. They have a nice room with a nice soft rug for an old guy. Unfortunately, I was there with my daughter and was unable to be there for him. They were very nice and respectful. They also allowed us a little time in the room after to mourn and grieve for a few minutes after they returned with his leash and collar. It was fairly priced, which I greatly appreciated. I'm on a limited budget, and when a dog dies is not the time to tack on extra. I had signed on for auto shipment of his meds. I called the pharmacy ASAP and explained my situation. My dog had to be put down that day and they had just processed his medications. They were very kind and understanding and were able to cancel the last shipment. Moving forward, if they offer me meds that are specialty meds, I am very happy to go through Covetrus. The system worked very well, and the price was reasonable. So very thankful to have this experience made easier. Now to get little dog established and keep things going! read more

I had to euthanize dog yesterday. They were very good to me and Milo. They even got him to play a little. Very gracious of them both. He wouldn't eat cheese but she gave him some cheese wiz and he loved it. They are great vets for all your needs. I highly recommend them for animals needs. read more

Go Somewhere Else!!! Dr. Dale, you and your wife are amazing people. You can fix the plethora of 1 Stars by stepping up your game. Unless you don't care. I've been a customer for -10 years. 5-6 animals Need better Communication - Collaboration - Honesty from folks at the clinic empowered to make decisions. Your team should be able to accept feedback as to the performance of their service. Your practice should have the ability to do what you say you are going to do medically for the health of my dog. Took my 3yr old GSP for left leg injury. Could not put weight on left front paw. Ankle was swollen. They took three X-rays...all above the ankle., none below the elbow???? A fact I only found out later because I requested the film. Turns out, they didn't xray the ankle or paw. Sent home with "sprain"diagnosis and anti inflammatory meds. Bill = -$600. Check back in 10 days if worse. I called this morning and I asked lots of questions and did insinuate they possibly missed the injury (which they did) and I told them I should receive a follow up appointment, not another $150 er visit. This was 7 days later and symptoms were getting worse, he would not eat, and Felt hot to the touch. Today, after all of that, I received a call from the business office manager. He informed me they "collectively" are dropping me and my pets as a client. They said the reason was "I didn't trust them to care for my pet.". Well, that was true. Moral of the story - have some humility as a service based clinic. You missed the obvious diagnosis because you didn't listen, nor take the time to communicate with me as to what it will take to solve my dog's issues. Oh yea, careful if you question their billing...as I have. It obviously led to their insecurities. Makes me wonder what else they are neglecting. Go - Somewhere - Else. read more

This is what you call "assembly line" or "factory" veterinary care. You will find it difficult to speak to someone on the phone, and you will not likely see the veterinarian during your visit. This is because their goal is the see the maximum number of animals in the least amount of time. The focus is on efficiency, not patient-centeredness. This is an ethic of volume care over quality of care. The closest you will get to speaking to a vet is a technician or simply a receptionist. The problem with this location is that the first line of people you will speak with are not detail oriented, and by the time the information given to them, is exchanged or finally reaches the veterinarian, it has had numerous opportunities to be missed or not transmitted at all. Upon a recent visit the vet prescribed medicine that conflicted with treatment our dog was already receiving and was only caught after they neglected to provide pain medication in their course of treatment, and they had to be asked to reconsider since the animal was not sleeping well and was vocalizing in pain. At every turn, every exchange, something was missed or was not recorded correctly by this facility. Information was provided in detail, including written records of current treatments. These were either ignored or not adequately reviewed, consequences of these failures can be dire. Beware what you are dealing with when you visit this location. You are entering an assembly line of questionable quality of care. read more

Today we had to take our cat in to be put to sleep. We had eight wonderful, quality months with Busby after his cancer diagnosis and surgery in May 2016. This "bonus" time was due to the incredible work that Dr Smith (who is no longer with Arlington Heights) and Dr Giem did. We received wonderful and thoughtful care today, and our last moments with Busby were peaceful and loving. We cannot say enough good things about Arlington Heights Vet Hospital and recommend them to everyone in the Bloomington area who cares about their pets health and care. read more

These people like to deem a sick pet "an emergency, and then tack on an additional $150 fee for the emergency! Just like College Mall Vet Hospital, except College Mall tacks on an additional $300 for the so called "emergency." Amateur Hour. My 5 year old cat developed an injection site tumor near her spine after visiting the South clinic May 2016. Because the injection was given in such a precarious location (as opposed to her rump or leg), the tumor is inoperable. She has only months to live. Other than causing the early demise of my cat, the quality of care is generally fine. My greater concern is the overall admin of both offices. For a drop-in, you'll have to go to the North clinic. Expect long lines. When I first felt the mass on my cat, I waited for 2 hours to see the vet. Instead of being taken to an exam room, a person (vet tech?) came to the waiting room and examined my nervous cat in front of the other customers. This was traumatic and not helpful. South clinic is less chaotic, but do not feel confident that your questions/concerns are triaged from the front desk to the vet. I've had confusing interactions where I've sent test results or scheduled a surgery(!) only to arrive and feel as if I was the first cat to ever walk through the doors. The general vibe if you call is that the staff is a little unprepared or uninformed but will try to advise you on what to do or expect. This causes confusion and incorrect assumptionsNot a great system. I tried to stick it out with Arlington because they are familiar with my cat's case, but the emotional stress of the basic interactions (questions, scheduling,calls) is exhausting. I'll take my cat elsewhere for her end-of-life care. read more

I chose Arlington Heights when I first moved to town because they offer ER to established patients. I've taken my two cats here a few times and have found overall they are a good clinic. The technicians and the vets are really nice. I especially like Dr. Miller, he has a very calming presence which helped relax my cat. It is also nice to have the peace of mind of knowing I can call them 24 hours a day for any emergencies instead of having to drive up to Indy. Unfortunately they only offer this option to people who are already in their database since they are a small practice. read more

This place is a ripoff. If you want to spend top dollar for lackluster care, then this is your place. I took my Yorkie there, who was injured. They wanted to keep him over night, then they suddenly noticed his breathing was erratic so I was referred to Indianapolis, where they told me there was nothing they could do to save him, and had to have him put down. Had I let him stay overnight, he would have just died a miserable death in their unwatched cages overnight. Prices are ridiculous for the care they provide, and they'll try to sell you everything under the sun before you leave. I will not be back, and for your dog's sake, hopefully you won't either. read more

9/17/18 at 530 am my lab was hit by a car on the access road of W Sample north of Bloomington. I called my vet whose emergency services transfer to Indy South side. I called my large animal vet whose emergency services also transfer to Indy. I searched Emergency Vet near me, because I was hoping not to drive to Indy. Arlington heights vet clinic pops up as a paid advertisement in searches on google as the first link, no matter what you search for regarding vet care. So I called them. The operator was very nice and helpful. He triaged my dog as much as he could over the phone and asked me how long it would take me to get there. I responded about 20 minutes. He asked my name again, I gave it, and then he replied, "oh, you're not a client. We can see you after 9." Seriously? They are listed as an Emergency Clinic and they don't take emergencies unless you are their client? I was so angry. It was 5:45 and I wasted 15 minutes that could have cost my dog her life. I called Airport Animal Emergency Clinic and Dr. Gust saw my girl. She was treated and doing well. She has a long road to go. I have NEVER like Arlington. They are yuppie, uppity, snobs. This only solidified my dislike for them. Like Julia Roberts says in Pretty Woman, this was a HUGE mistake AHVC, H U G E....! NEVER AGAIN ARLINGTON. read more

Requested my dog be cremated and paw print impression for my son who had horrible time dealing with death of his bulldog but they screwed up and didn't put ashes to be returned and obviously no paw print for my son to have of his passed pet. Someone really dropped the ball on something so important, losing a pet is awful and this adds no help, someone there should feel horrible but I'm the one who gets to tell my son he won't get his dog's ashes and paw print, thanks so much! read more

Dr. Rebecca Smith. WORST.VET.EVER!!!! She had no compassion or 'bedside manner'. She treated my family like crap, when putting down our dog. I asked her to give him the highest dose of pain killer. She practically rolled her eyes, like we were taking too much of her time. I wanted her to come to the car, because he was struggling so much, and she wouldn't hear of it. She was too busy. The drugs hadn't kicked in by her 'allotted' time, and she gave him the final shot anyway. He SCREAMED. WTH!?!? Our college boy was in tears, and wanted to know if all vets were like that. I have been going to Arlington for years with 4 dogs, and the Millers were great, but they expanded and hired substandard help. This lady has no compassion, and should not be in the veterinary practice. This was the WORST EXPERIENCE EVER, and they should have fired her!!!! I will not be back. read more

Had a terrible experience here yesterday with my dying cat. No compassion, wanted to charge an additional $81 to euthanize after we were already paying close to $200 for the blood work & office visit. I understand they're in the business to make money but I felt judged for not being able to shell out more cash. And when I inquired about having my cat put down at the shelter instead of at the vets office he had the nerve to say "well most people don't shop around for euthanasia." Thanks Dr. Dale. Having Dr. Woodruff come today to put him down at home & around loved ones. Should have called him in the first place. Very disappointed with Arlington, and surprisingly I went there because of good recommendations. read more

I have taken all of my pets to this practice since 1974. Time and again they have shown me that they care for my animals as much as I do. Their response in an emergency is phenomenal and they literally saved my pug's life. Can you get cheaper vet care elsewhere? Maybe...... but every time we have wanted to adopt an animal from a rescue it was good to have veterinarians who knew what kind of owners we are and I know their vet references for us have made the difference. This is one practice that is multigenerational and I for that I am grateful! read more

My dogs got into ibuprofen (which is deadly for them) and I called them at 11:30pm for the emergency clinic, when they informed me that because I was not a current client, I could not come for emergency and had to drive an hour and a half to Indy. I decided to give Arlington Heights vet Clinic one more shot last night. Big Mistake! They don't take appts but walk-ins only. I've gone two other times in the past few months and waited an excessive amount of time...Yes, I should have learned the first time! but I was giving them the benefit of the doubt. So I left work early (hoping to beat the after work rush at the vet), and arrived with my dog at 4:45pm, signed in, and asked if I could stay outside with her. I was told that was fine and they'd come get us when it was our turn. After waiting an HOUR, I went inside with my dog to check in and asked if they had maybe forgotten about us. I was told No, but that we were next in line. So I went back outside and waited another 15 minutes. So then I checked in at front desk again. After 1.5 hours we were finally in the exam room. We then waited another 15 minutes in the exam room (1.75 hours at this point!) and then Dr. Dale Miller came in. He made a snide comment about my dog, which I overlooked. Something about her being unruly or crazy. I thought maybe I misheard him and at this point I just wanted to get her eye checked out, nails trimmed, ears cleaned, and anal glands released, which is all we were there for, so I ignored his rude comment. In my opinion, his "bedside manner" is awful. He proceeded to try and grab her head to look at her eye. This was all in the first 30 seconds of coming into the room. She then growled at him. He then said "I am going to get a muzzle." And also said "you need to keep a better watch on her". All this happened while he stood up quickly, has his hands and arms above his head (picture Frankenstein). Now any normal person knows you do NOT do that around a dog when you are first approaching them. And a VET especially should know this. That is showing aggressive behavior towards an animal. He set her up for failure in my opinion. ANY dog large or small, would growl at the vet had he done that to them too!! So at this point we had been there 1.75 hours and I was fuming at this point. I looked at him, told him that I would not be staying and also told him that he should know better than to handle a dog like that. Yes, I said it. I was appalled and he needed to hear it. I then left the exam room, slamming the door, took my dog out to the car, and took a deep breath. I then went back inside because I wanted someone to know that what just happened was uncalled for. (At the time I didn't realize the Dr Dale Miller was the OWNER of the clinic! Shame on him!) Because I had been there 1.75 hours at this point I said I wanted to see another doc (CODY in fact. He's the ONLY GOOD DOC AT THIS CLINIC IN MY OPINION!) I was then told that was fine and that we could go back in Exam room 2. So I got my dog back out of the car, brought her inside to exam room 2, and WAITED SOME MORE. 15 more minutes went by....so I decided I had had enough. Not only was I agitated, but my dog was too! She was starting to jump on me and chew the leash. Two (2) hours have passed at this point and nothing was accomplished, NOTHING! Having your dog on the leash for 2 hours would agitate ANY animal. I have not been contacted, and I won't be contacting them, or ever go back there. I also won't waste my time writing them a letter. They obviously don't care. So I decided I'd post a review so others won't waste their time going to this clinic. Instead I MADE AN APPT at another vet clinic (Town & Country) that I've heard great things about. I look forward to a great experience there. By the way my phone call went with T&C, they already impress me, unlike Arlington Heights, that is very unorganized. Arlington Heights Vet Clinic needs to wake up and change their business practices (allow appts to be made) and the vets there need to work on how they approach the animals. Cody was the only one that cared enough and had no issues with my dog (and helped with our guinea pig too, in the past). My dog is NOT aggressive and like most labs, will just love on you once you earn their trust. It's as simple as kneeling down, putting out the back of your hand, and letting them sniff you. Once they are comfortable, then you can pet them :) Good news travels fast, bad news travels faster! ...Don't waste your time at this vet clinic. Unless you like sitting there for 1-2 hours. I've since heard others complain about the long wait time at this clinic, so they've got a bad reputation that they earned themselves. What a shame. read more

Nice staff, nice doctor. Very busy day when we went. Enough apologizing. . My poor dog came home covered in his own feces. Defacated over 10 hours ago and they let it dry on him. Right after they performed a surgery. Is that good for the wound site? Hell no. So far the results are as expected. He is pooping again. A lot of money for the surgery, but can't take an extra five minutes to help a poor dog wipe his ass when he obviously cannot help it. Totally disgusted at that. if I can help it, I'll never go back. I called a different vet which was called Arlington veterinary Hospital I did not realize it was in Missouri they quoted me $1000 , I called Bloomfield veterinarian clinic they quoted me $500 plus $87 for the normal spay fee read more

I brought my very healthy male cat here for his annual exam and rabies vaccination and was super pleased with everything. My female cat dealt with a chronic illness last year, so I have been to several veterinary clinics in the area; I had even driven up to Carmel. This was by far the best experience I have ever had. Because it's a walk in clinic Monday through Thursday, we did wait about forty five minutes to see someone. If you're familiar with the other walk in clinic in the area (Bean Blossom), you'll know that this is not bad at all. Once we did see someone, we were in and out in just a few minutes. The woman was very friendly and chatted with us as she examined our cat. The visit was short as he is in perfect health, but we didn't feel hurried at all. Everything went smoothly, and we paid only $18 for our exam and vaccine! I'd highly recommend Arlington Heights. read more

My dog has been seeing Dr. Alanna Blake for a variety of issues, and she is one of the best vets we have had -- definitely the best we have tried in the Bloomington area. Dr. Blake is enthusiastic, compasionate, and will tailor your pet's healthcare plan to fit your lifestyle, budget, and personal preferences. She always listens to my (many) questions with patience and gives thought-out and detailed answers. As a client, you have access to their 24 hour emergency call service. This is not something all vets in the area do, and in an area infested with venomous snakes and other wildlife this is an invaluable service. The facilities are decent, but I have only seen the front waiting area. The front office staff are hit-and-miss, as I have seen in many other vet clinics. Sky (sp?) is particularly good, with a great attitude and ability to explain different aspects of your pet's healthcare. read more

There are two reasons this place is getting one star. A. I can't figure out how to give zero or a negative number of stars and b. My dog thankfully didn't die. Outside of that, NOTHING good has come from utilization of their services. I have been insanely disappointed both times we have taken our pup here. Doctor didn't give appropriate pain meds after oral surgery and then when we brought her back for a neck injury he gave a combined med for pain/inflammation BID for five days...after which she was still no better. When my other dog had THE EXACT SAME INJURY (but was seen at Combs Vet clinic) we had an anti inflammatory and PRN pain meds to use like sentient beings (and wait for it...medical professionals)who could recognize an animal in pain and he was better in a matter of days. Not to mention we have now had ALLLLL the animals treated for fleas THREE TIMES. in the nearly ten years I have had them they have never had fleas...that is until we moved here and started using this vet and his meds. FOR THE LOVE please go to Combs Vet Clinic. They are amazing. They make their meds, flavor them (pill or liquid), are kind and compassionate and MOST OF ALL effective and follow up to check on your dog. They also don't charge you insane prices for services or make you wait HOURS to be seen. Combs=All around quality. I had a bad feeling day one with this place and now feel terrible for not trusting my gut. :( SO THANKFUL WE FOUND COMBS OR I WOULD BE DRIVING BACK TO INDY FOR VET SERVICES. read more

Waited an hour before seeing the vet. Had a minor issue with my pet that has been treated before by a different vet (different city) and expected similar treatment. Was shocked when this vet told me he wanted to charge me nearly $400, when I paid about $40 for a solution for the same issue with a different vet. I declined; felt like I was being offered an exorbitantly upcharged service and ripped off. Left their office paying about $75 for little of nothing. He did give me meds after I requested them, but the charge for them was about the same as the proper treatment from the previous vet . Felt taken advantage of, especially how my time, also, wasn't valued, but theirs certainly must be. My impression ---- expect to have deep pockets if you go here. read more

This is the worst vet I have ever used! They are all about milking people out of their money. Our dogs leg was broken by them while they had him to clean his teeth. We were told many things including the use of digital x-rays that turned out to be nothing but poor quality regular x-rays. Dr. Alanah Blake prescribed anti-biotics for a skin infection that our dog didn't have, and told us that she would give our dog a shot of pain killer before doing x-rays. All lies!!!! Don't fall for this place and their claims to have advanced technology!!!! We ended up having our dog put down after dealing with them. read more
