Caesar salad, garlic bread and spinach egg drop soup
    Kimberly M.

Good food, good prices, good service. Need I say more, we're having Caesar salad, garlic bread and egg drop spinach soup,

garlic rolls and basic salad that accompanies entrees

The good thing about having low expectations is that you're not disappointed! Having been to Armando's seven years ago, I knew my meal would not bring me back to the Grand Canal in Venice. With that said, we had an enjoyable lunch. Entrees come with a basic iceberg salad, nondescript dressing and okay garlic rolls. Two per person. The creamy lemon sauce on my chicken Francese was tasty and the cutlet surprisingly tender. Mom's veal marsala can't compare to Carrabba's -- yes! sometimes chain restaurants win out -- and T's shrimp Armando was, according to him, good. (He's easier to please than me.) We rounded out the meal with a cheapie -- $15.95! -- carafe of a passable burgundy. Late afternoon, service was great. I liked our waitress who had a good sense of humor and nicely asked if we wanted lunch or dinner portions since we arrived on the cusp. Maybe a little closer to dinner. On the way out, I struck up conversation with a long-distance trucker who makes a point to stop at Armando's when he's passing through. If you have no great affinity for Italian cuisine, you'll likely be pleased with Armando's. Cause really, not every meal needs to be five stars. And I'll add that Armando's prices are considerably lower than the three-star Italian restaurants we visited in Florida.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! The people are awesome and the food is great!! We drive 18 miles to eat there once a week, at least! And are never disappointed! The pizza we had tonite was unbelievable! It was picture perfect and the ingredients were fresh and delicious! I usually have Fettuccine Alfredo and it is the best I've ever had! My kind of place and could be yours too!

We stopped here on the way to Hilton Head Island. What a find! Delicious family type Italian restaurant. Start off with some garlic knots and follow it up with salad, pizza, pasta.....mama mia! Excellent place!

One word service!! I will start out with the GOOD. The food was served very hot and the garlic rolls were a nice touch. The chicken had good taste and the marinara sauce was not too spicy. The portions were very large and without a doubt you will not go away hungry. The BAD. The décor is NOT as bad as the other reviews might lead you to believe. The place looked well kept to me (it is an old building) and appeared clean. The UGLY! Service my lord!! I waited over 30 minutes for my meal and that is totally unacceptable in any setting. It appeared as if the staff didn't really know what they were suppose to do and I would bet by the service the kitchen staff is the same way! My waitress was very nice and kind. But you really need to check in with your customer more often which will remind you to get on the cooks to get the meals out in a timely manner. I would give the place a second chance and the food quality could easily bump it up to a 4-STAR no problem. Get a handle on the SERVICE!

Had I known how close this place was and had it not been 95 degrees out, I'd have just walked. As it was, I drove past the correct street and it took another 5 minutes to circle the block in traffic. The restaurant was actually within 300 yards of the museum. If you are heading south on Museum Drive towards downtown, Church Street will be the first cross street you come to after the museum. Downtown Cartersville has a large road overpass that spans the train tracks. Under this bridge is a series of shops forming one block of several that make up the whole of the business district. The Appalachian Grill is located on the row of shops under the bridge. An added bonus for us was that there is street parking out front and it was well shaded due to the bridge! There appeared to be one or more public lots within half a block also. The restaurant opened within a minute of when we exited the car. There was a small crowd already waiting, and at noon they opened the doors. I think there was a small fenced patio space along the sidewalk but no one was initially interested in that due to the heat. The interior has a sort of lodge-meets-Frank Lloyd Wright feel in terms of the decor. It is also a bit dim / cozy. I worried that the servers would be overwhelmed by the opening crowd, but they handled it quite well. Our server returned relatively frequently to get our drink orders and later our food requests. There was a slight wait after that, but given the influx of customers, it wasn't as long as I might have guessed. The menu was quite varied, and ranged from salads and burgers up to steaks. This is probably fine dining adjacent in the evenings for dinner. I got a BLT and my wife got a Portobello mushroom sandwich. Both of us opted for the 'steak fries'. The amount of food was surprisingly large! We managed to finish our sandwiches and a few of the fries, but had a take-out box of fries for later too. We both liked our sandwiches. While I tend to like steak fries, these were like the big brother of your average type. They were more like potato wedges than large-body fries. Maybe they are new, as the server asked me at the end what I thought of them. My honest opinion, which I shared, was that they were good, but would be better if the potatoes were peeled and if the size of each fry was halved. We did end up finishing them a few days later. Prices were not cheap but were not out of line for the type of establishment and the quality (and quantity) of food. I might try this place for dinner as opposed to lunch if I came back to Cartersville. I'd certainly recommend it for a meal.

Sad to say we're likely done for foreseeable future. In a growing trend, they've had problems with the beverage station. Usually, it's no unsweet tea but we've also seen the fountain drinks out of order too. For the tea, they say their 2nd tea urn "broke." Ok, you're making $2.75 profit off of every $2.95 glass of tea you sell. Buy another urn. Or - as some places do - get a 2-gallon pitcher, boil water, add three 20-cent tea bags & you're good to sell 25 or 30 units at probably $3 each! But the final straw is that they seem to have adjusted the fig-prosciutto pizza recipe, swapping in basil for arugula. And last visit, they put the basil on before cooking so their blazing wood-fired oven nearly incinerated the basil. Then, when wife asked for some arugula, they brought out some wilted scraps for her but then could be seen refilling the arugula bin with a fresh batch. There appear to be only teenagers working when we go - which admittedly is usually a weekend - but maybe the owner should check in now & then as they've now lost a fairly regular customer.

The shining star in this entire restaurant isn't even the food but was the manager Juliette. She was absolutely incredible. She remembered us when we came in the second time and knew exactly what we wanted to order. As a vegetarian she made sure that she accommodated my dietary restrictions and recommended items that she really enjoys and thought would be good for me to try. She went above and beyond to make the experience so special. Vegetarian Recommendations: * Sweet potatoes: these were incredible. They are the perfect combination of crispy and soft while being perfectly seasoned * Fingerling potatoes: these were roasted to absolute perfection * Brussel sprouts: really tasty but it was simply too much on a plate * Fried green tomato: A secretly amazing appetiser without the bacon which has a really lovely and light flavour that made it easy to digest especially with the lemon aioli * Baby beat salad: this is something you absolutely need to get. This salad was light and delicious with the beats

My mother got the pork belly grit bowl, and it is a HUGE portion with tender pork belly, creamy grits and two eggs cooked to your liking. My father and I both ordered the burger rare & medium rare, but they came out medium well. While it was still good, a $17 burger should be cooked to temperature, which is why the food received a 4 star rating; the waitress apologized and offered to have it remade, but I'm the kind of person that does not send food back to the kitchen. I'm a little surprised that a manager didn't come around to check on the table after the feedback was given. Higher end restaurants usually receive a visit from one, and considering the order was a little off, I would think that definitely warrants it. The interior has a very clean and classy look, bright white walls and linen table cloths, decorated with vibrant artwork created by local artists. All in all, we will return if we visit Cartersville again.
