What a great place. We are visiting from out of town and found this excellent Italian restaurant thru yelp. We were greeted immediately and received very attentive and quick service all evening. I had the Shrimp Armando which was delish. Made with shrimp , sun dried tomatoes, artichokes and mushrooms in a pink sauce. Yum yum yum. Oh and the homemade bread; wow it was amazing. It is a small restaurant and if there was one hick up it was that it was warm in there but it is also 95 degrees outside so I give them some leniency on the lack of AC. We are in town for a few days and may have to head back there to try some other dishes. Well done Armando's! read more

We visited on a Friday evening for dinner and it was fairly quiet - at least in the area we sat. The take out appeared to be quite busy though. Our waitress was attentive. We ordered the meatball appetizer which came with 8 meatballs to share. They were covered in sauce and cheese. We enjoyed them. Our entrees were a Greek salad and chicken parm. The Greek salad was disappointing - quite small for an entree. It was actually the same size as the side salad that came with the chicken entree. The chicken parm was good - nothing special, but good. It appeared that there were two different seating areas - we sat in a booth in a small room that housed about 6 total booths. I am not sure what the other dining area looked like. The entry into the parking lot is a little tricky for someone not familiar with the area. Just go!! If you order pizza, do yourself a favor and order a basket of rolls. The rolls are amazing. My son ordered a pizza (doesn't come with rolls) & I had the chicken parm. Bread is fried (which is fine) but tastes heavily of the oil it is fried in. There was a hair in my husband's salad, which was very disappointing and the Caesar salad was very basic - just croutons and a store-bought dressing despite it being an up charge for the salad. The entrees were fine, but for the price it was disappointing to see that the noodles were boxed barilla (or whatever other box brand they choose) definitely not with the price point for the lunch to dinner upcharges on the menu. The shrimp was very well cooked, I will say that. The service was good, I could tell the waitstaff was very friendly, but also for the price, having to pay at the register leaves a lot of be desired. The good thing about having low expectations is that you're not disappointed! Having been to Armando's seven years ago, I knew my meal would not bring me back to the Grand Canal in Venice. With that said, we had an enjoyable lunch. Entrees come with a basic iceberg salad, nondescript dressing and okay garlic rolls. Two per person. The creamy lemon sauce on my chicken Francese was tasty and the cutlet surprisingly tender. Mom's veal marsala can't compare to Carrabba's -- yes! sometimes chain restaurants win out -- and T's shrimp Armando was, according to him, good. (He's easier to please than me.) We rounded out the meal with a cheapie -- $15.95! -- carafe of a passable burgundy. Late afternoon, service was great. I liked our waitress who had a good sense of humor and nicely asked if we wanted lunch or dinner portions since we arrived on the cusp. Maybe a little closer to dinner. On the way out, I struck up conversation with a long-distance trucker who makes a point to stop at Armando's when he's passing through. If you have no great affinity for Italian cuisine, you'll likely be pleased with Armando's. Cause really, not every meal needs to be five stars. And I'll add that Armando's prices are considerably lower than the three-star Italian restaurants we visited in Florida. read more

Hidden gem. Not some pretentious overpriced so-called Italian food. We visited from out of town to go to some museums. Came for lunch and returned for dinner. This is an old school family run restaurant that embodies the spirit,food, atmosphere of the numerous neighborhood Italian places of NY and NJ. This is an old school Italian Resturant. The outside can be off putting but the inside is your traditional red booths and wood type spot. Servers are nice have been there forever. Menu features all the classics. For the price you get garlic rolls and soup or side salad. Rolls were good, side salad ah nothing to write home about 1 slice of tomato. A half ring (literally half) of red onion it was funny. I ordered the Chicken Primavera that comes over spaghetti. Had to season it but the veggies were cooked well as was the pasta. Chicken pieces were a bit dry and I thought I ordered soup. There was this watery base in the bowl. If that was my sauce it was TOO watery. Come on guys you know better. Overall a 3. One word service!! I will start out with the GOOD. The food was served very hot and the garlic rolls were a nice touch. The chicken had good taste and the marinara sauce was not too spicy. The portions were very large and without a doubt you will not go away hungry. The BAD. The décor is NOT as bad as the other reviews might lead you to believe. The place looked well kept to me (it is an old building) and appeared clean. The UGLY! Service my lord!! I waited over 30 minutes for my meal and that is totally unacceptable in any setting. It appeared as if the staff didn't really know what they were suppose to do and I would bet by the service the kitchen staff is the same way! My waitress was very nice and kind. But you really need to check in with your customer more often which will remind you to get on the cooks to get the meals out in a timely manner. Went there around 7pm with the family on a Friday night. The restaurant was busy so we had about a 15 minute wait which is no big deal it's not a big restaurant so I understood. We ordered mozzarella sticks and the garlic rolls/ knots for appetizers. Mozzarella sticks were typical size the type you can get anywhere. The rolls/garlic knots were pretty good. They are worth checking out. It took over 45 minutes to get our main meals from the time we ordered. That was annoying that was probably the worst part of the entire experience but it is a Friday night and they were busy:the staff was extremely nice the customer service was good it just took a long time to get the food. The kids got baked ziti and spaghetti. I tried the spaghetti it wasn't bad we also got a medium buffalo chicken pizza and a medium white pizza. The white pizza was pretty good. The buffalo chicken was ok. You could not taste any Buffalo sauce at all on the pizza. With that being said the pizza did taste pretty good minus the Buffalo sauce. I'll give this place another shot. I do recommend checking this place out not on a Friday night at 7pm but at a more reasonable time. Don't order the mozzarella sticks not worth it. Don't order anything that's no longer on the menu( Buffalo chicken pizza). Do try their pizza it's pretty good. read more

Great Italian restaurant. Everyone was really friendly and prompt. Had the tomato basil soup and spinach egg drop soup for appetizers. Both were delicious. Never had spinach egg drop soup, it was really good. Main meals we had veal parmigiana and spaghetti with sausage and meatball. The sauce was savory and flavorful. For dessert I had tiramisu, it was really really good. Would recommend if your driving through the area and you want really good home cooked Italian food. read more

Driven by this place for years. Finally stopped in . It was well worth it. I am a lover of lasagna. It was the best I have found in years. I had a caesars salad with anchovy's. It is hard to mess up a Caesar but many places do. Not hear it was great. My fiancé had spaghetti diablo. It was great plenty of seafood . The noodles and Sauce were fantastic. The only down side. Yum! If you're looking for authentic Italian though, you probably won't get it here.. but that doesn't mean it's not good food! It is more of like the Americanized version of it, just like Las Palmas isn't traditional Mexican food, but both are good food. The service is great, the staff is very friendly!
