If you've ever driven past an old rock quarry and wanted an opportunity to go exploring inside, this is the place to do it! I thought it was very exciting. Young and old can have fun here. The trails are very easy and it's a simple network. One trail circles the quarry and one trail easily slopes into the quarry. Once on the floor of the quarry, you can pretty much roam around wherever the quarry gods take you. This visit was an "add-on" to a trip to Cedar Point and the Sandusky area. On my next visit, I will be sure to include this park again... for sure.

But the kids had fun and had no issue at full speed. There is also a splash pad about 100ft away. Marblehead Lighthouse State Park is a great spot for a relaxing and scenic visit along Lake Erie…read more We went last weekend and were able to tour the lighthouse, which was definitely worth it. Admission was $5 per person, and kids 5 and under were free. The volunteers were friendly and shared a brief but interesting history of the lighthouse and how it's been used over the years. Once inside, be ready for a bit of a climb as there are 77 narrow spiral steps leading up to an outdoor observation area. The view is worth it to see beautiful sights of Lake Erie. Even if it's not that clear of a day, you can still see Cedar Point and the Lake Erie islands in the distance. The park itself is very well maintained and offers easy access to the shoreline while still feeling safe and family-friendly. It's a peaceful place to sit, relax, and enjoy the lake breeze and sounds. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

These wetlands are remnants of the Great Black Swamp, which once covered an area 120 miles long and 30-40 miles wide. Nature enthusiasts enjoy viewing an abundance of waterfowl and shorebirds in the park's scenic wetlands, as well as from the swimming beach and picnic areas along the lake. Our family and Apache camper began a series of visits in 1967, and East Harbor has remained a favorite. Greatly enjoyed the beaches, which now have a three-foot stone barrier to prevent erosion. We visit year round. The surrounding area has become somewhat commercialized. Lots of campers and fisher folks. In our early visits, we discussed a holiday at the State Park rather than a trip to the Outer Banks or to Hilton Head... My dear wife observed that an annual Atlantic Ocean Beach holiday was elemental to our life style.

The grounds were lovely, and they were plenty of plant and tree specimens that one does not normally see in this part of Ohio. I liked the knobby knee cypress trees the best! It's an amazing setting for a concert and I wonder why they have not had a smooth jazz concert there since. I definitely would go! The admission cost makes it possible for these gardens to exist, they are a non for profit. The gardens are unique in that they offer a great rotation collection of art from all over the world. The gardens themselves offer a unique collection and experience in that they are the areas only large scale asian gardens. They have a complete 30+ tree collection of bonsai trees. As a seasoned and well traveled garden tourist, this is one of my all time favorite gardens.

There was no reason why that bathroom shouldn't have been open . The lighthouse and all the information provided were very neat. It seems like the best times to visit are weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day as that's when the offices are open and you can buy tickets to tour the light house. There was also a small lending library here and I think my favorite thing was actually the Statue of the dog with the lighthouse keeper.

So much nature to see, any and every type of wildlife in out short time we saw 7 Eagles, possum, trumpet swans and numerous other water fowl. During the tour the mini bus takes you on roads normally only for foot traffic. There are two large beaver damns. Such a treat!
