I reached a point with the new contractor where I was ready to stop work with a vote of no confidence because my contractor did not follow the tub installation instructions, which could be a huge deal that leads to costly repairs in the future. I reached back out to Bob to see if he had the bandwidth to take on the re-do work that I had convinced myself was required. Bob was able to zoom me *that day* to address my concerns and let me know that while the existing work isn't super awesome, it also isn't terrible and doesn't necessarily need to be re-done. This call was of no financial benefit to Hunter Contracting but IMO speaks VOLUMES to their integrity. I would hire them in a second to do work on my home.

It was a 3-1/2 month project, start to finish, and Heartland made every step an easy one. From the design process with Nick Clapes and Molly Holland, who both had wonderful and tasteful ideas that we just loved, to the demolition and new construction with our great project manager, Marty Fletcher (who took over seamlessly when our original PM left Heartland). All in all, it was a huge project, but every little bump in the road was handled quickly and efficiently (and there will always be bumps in the road!). Communication throughout the project was also excellent. We always knew exactly where we were at and kept informed about everything. And I'd be remiss if I didn't thank everyone who worked on our project: Carpenters - Hugo, Yerko, Nestor, Ady, and Carlos Electricians - Rudy and his crew Plumber - Gerson and his crew Drywall and Painters - Sual and his crew Tile - David Flooring - Alex and his crew You all were so helpful, so professional, and so friendly (especially dealing with our overly-friendly dog, Chiara!), and we are so appreciative of all of your hard work on our behalf! I selected Heartland for this project because I found them listed as a local Best Pick (http://bestpickreports.com/), which is a fantastic resource for finding fully vetted and insured professsionals, and then hired them for a smaller initial project (replacing a staircase). They did a fabulous job on that, so I was happy to hire them again. In conclusion, if you are looking for a fantastic, reputable company to do any home remodeling, you cannot go wrong with Heartland Design & Remodeling. She clarified and mitigated small concerns as they arose to our satisfaction. Liz with her style savvy and knowledge provided great renderings of the vision. She coordinated all design meetings and thankfully with her anxiety alleviating calm, supportive demeanor and keen attention to detail, helped us make decisions from paint colors to fixtures. Then David as our very responsive and dedicated project manager brought the organization of all the trade partners together to successfully bring the full project to completion and within the designated timing we so needed. It was more of "sorry you feel that way" and to vehemently defend himself. Sorry, taking that tone is never a successful strategy and not how to build and sustain lasting business or any kind of lasting relationship. I consider myself a reasonable, understanding and forgiving person and don't like to give out negative reviews. I have even changed ratings from 3 stars to 5 stars because the owners kept their pride in check and stood behind their guarantee of 100% customer satisfaction. Reached out to them as my wife and I are interested in remodeling both of our bathrooms and had received several recommendations so I was interesting in talking with them. Since I had already done demo on the guest, I had a framework of a layout for the guest and master baths and shared that with Glickman. Doug and Tim (I think was his name?) met with my wife and I, looked over the space, talked with us, gave us their approach, how this would work, etc. Tim presented some potential alternatives that were interesting but that would greatly increase the scope of the remodel. Both gentlemen were very professional and polite but the conversation circled back to budget several times and the numbers that they were referencing were quite a bit higher than the range that we were thinking, which at time, I thought, 'ok, I am completely off the mark?'. After some discussion with my wife, we decided that we wanted to make a slight change to the master bathroom layout so I sent Doug the updated drawing for the framework that we were thinking. This was on a Monday. Fast forward to the following Wednesday (9 days later), I finally hear back from Doug saying that Glickman will have to pass as: "We don't think you would be happy with how this would look" "We don't want you to have buyer's remorse" "You wouldn't be happy with a smaller tub" It's every business' right to pass on work, I have no problems with that but it's the manner in which this was communicated by telling me how I would feel. If you are THAT worried about how I would feel, perhaps propose some alternatives? Especially since I repeatedly stated that it was a design framework and I didn't know if it would even work? Or perhaps just say "We don't think we can give you what you are looking for". Also, with regards to the budget numbers, I've now spoken to 6 different remodelers, the numbers that Glickman were throwing out are still 30% higher than the next highest number. And these other remodelers are reputable design/build establishments. It's possible that the numbers I'm getting are deceiving so will have to see how it all pans out. If Glickman is focused on higher end, higher budget work, then that's perfectly ok but make that clear at the start.

SERIOUSLY!!!!!!!!! :( As the owner of a small firm, I can understand why this gentleman didn't want to waste his time. I wouldn't waste mine either. Cosgrove and Sons recently completed a complete renovation of our master bathroom. We had been…read moreplanning this renovation for a few years and had gotten bids and plans from two other contractors, but were never able to come up with a plan which reflected what we really wanted done. After working with Stephen Cosgrove, we designed an Asian influenced bathroom which was just what we had envisioned and hired Cosgrove and Sons for the renovation. Cosgrove and Sons gutted our old bathroom, installed a new subfloor, tiled a wall, the floor and shower enclosure, moved a floor vent, installed recessed lighting, did electrical and plumbing work, installed a new tub, vanity, vanity lights and mirrors, faucets, towel heater, ceiling fan, toilet with washlet seat, hung up shelves and robe hooks, built a custom shower, built recessed wall niches for the shower and tub and painted the ceiling and walls. No subcontractors were used; the work was primarily done by two Cosgrove employees, Felipe and Miguel. They did a fantastic job. Felipe was careful to explain how things were being done and always consulted with me about any issues. Both workers were very polite and professional, cleaned up after themselves, and as a bonus, were nice to my dogs! The only real issue during the renovation was a delay in completing the shower enclosure. One of the pieces of glass was cut incorrectly twice, which delayed the project finish by two months, and when it was finally cut correctly and installed, we discovered that the piece of glass on the side was too tall, so there was another two week delay for a replacement. To make up for this delay, Lisa Cosgrove gave us free labor to replace all of our bedroom and front entry closet doors, which have been broken for several years, so I was happy! My husband and I love our new bathroom and are very satisfied with the work done by this contractor. I would not hesitate to hire them again.

We hired Cosgrove & Sons to handle a major renovation for us in the fall of 2015. They did a…read moreFANTASTIC job. We were very pleased with the quality of their work, which involved gutting the first floor of our old colonial, opening up walls and adding beams for structural support, building a brand new kitchen, adding a new powder room, and installing new windows, doors and wood flooring. We were also thrilled that they completed the project on time, in 10 weeks from start to finish. Phillip Cosgrove was our project manager, and he was excellent. He was on-site every day and did the bulk of the work himself with the assistance of one, sometimes two other employees, who were also great. He managed the various subcontractors and vendors who were needed for plumbing work, electrical, appliances, etc. He interpreted the architect's plans and didn't balk when we asked for a few changes mid-way through the project. When we encountered unexpected issues in the house (rotted wood, vents in odd places), Phillip and Stephen Cosgrove helped us come up with solutions and kept the project moving. We didn't live in the house during the renovation, but we stopped by almost every day and were impressed with how they contained the mess associated with a gut job and minimized disruption to our neighbors. We encountered a few bumps along the way (some miscommunications, some extra costs), but ultimately everything was handled professionally and to our satisfaction. It's been almost four months since we moved back into the house, and we couldn't be more delighted with the new space that Cosgrove created. We are very glad we hired Cosgrove for our renovation and would not hesitate to hire them again for future projects.

Ardo has worked on two medium sized to large projects for me over the past two years. The first was…read morea kitchen remodel including flooring, painting, minor electrical, etc. I was originally attracted to Ardo because they had an architect who drew up the kitchen design. I found his design to be original, functional and attractive. The work went along routinely with most of the work handled by in-house crews. I went with a second project with Ardo to redo my basement floor and remove mold. I stayed with Ardo principally due to the responsiveness and integrity shown by the owner Paul Arnold. The basement job was primarily done by outside contractors. Paul's oversight was first rate. My only criticism, not enough to dissuade, is the bidding generally is only to one sub. I will definitely use Ardo on future work in my home.
