This was just a wall w/windows before Ahmad turned it into my dream closet/window seat combo, giving me more storage & character
    Hannah A.

Ahmad is absolutely amazing. I'm an extremely detail-oriented, particular person, and Ahmad also payed attention to every detail, made great suggestions and ended up with a wonderful end result. To back up a bit: I live in a century old apartment that didn't have closets in the bedroom, and I wanted to add more storage, but keep the charm and character of the place (i.e. use original moldings, detailed doors, etc.). This was my first time working with a contractor, and I was amazed at how few called me back. Then I had some contractors who came by my apartment for 5 minutes, looked around quickly, and gave me a really high estimate. Ahmad, however, spent about 45 minutes with me, talking through every detail and giving me suggestions on how to make the project work. Then he came back again for another hour or so before we signed the contracts to make sure we were on the same page. Amazing! During the actual construction, Ahmad and his team were wonderful to work with. They kept the rest of the house really clean, stayed late hours to get the work done, and were always just extremely nice. At one point the drawers were a little shorter than I had wanted, and without hesitating Ahmad and the guys redid the work so that it would be exactly what I wanted. And to top it all off, the contract only included painting one wall where the work was done, but the color was a little off with the adjoining wall, so the team came back a few months later to paint the other wall anyway. And on top of THAT, they also helped with a few little projects around the house that were not any part of the scope of the project (more like handyman type jobs), but they kindly helped with those fixes while they were there. I cannot praise this team enough - I highly recommend them for all your projects!

    After

We contracted with Home Perfection Contracting to build an addition on our house over the garage. The addition consisted of a new master bedroom with two walk-in closets. As part of the renovation, we also converted an existing bedroom into a bathroom. Home Perfection Contracting was incredible throughout the entire process. From the beginning, they were very open and communicative, sharing their ideas on how to achieve the results I wanted. They also recognized that the lumber and material shortage of mid-2021 was not going to last and did not significantly increase their prices as other builders did. We spent several months working through all of the details of the renovation and securing the required materials and fixtures. Once everything was all lined up, Home Perfection Contracting got right to work. They removed the old roof, built the addition, and put in all the finishes in approximately 60 days. Throughout the process, every step was properly permitted and inspected. Some of the subcontractors noted that they enjoy working with Home Perfection Contracting because everything is done right and done to code. Home Perfection Contracting's workers were extremely polite and rarely came into the rest of the home, entering and exiting the work site through a window instead. We were able to work from home throughout the construction with little to no interruption. In building the addition, they also had to significantly dismantle my garage, which was professionally remodeled int he previous year. After the work was complete, they put everything back just as it was. Home Perfection Contracting went well above our expectations, built an amazing addition to our house, and did so at the right price without interrupting our lives. We highly recommend them and are looking forward to our next chance to leverage their services.

Before and after photos of Ahmad's work. The picture on the left shows how the previous contractor left the pocket door area.

Ahmad and his team are incredible. Background: After I returned from deployment, I had to find someone to redo my kitchen. I rented my condo out while I was overseas and my tenant tore down pieces of the kitchen backsplash, broke my washer and dryer, dented the oven, broke the shelves in my fridge, and the list goes on. She committed suicide so there was no one left to reimburse me for all the damages. A friend of a friend referred me to a contractor that turned out to be absolutely horrible. He caused more damage to my house than good. I turned to Yelp and searched for construction teams with five star ratings. Ahmad and his team appeared to fit the bill so I called. He drove to my house, carefully inspected my kitchen, and provided me with a free estimate. The detailed estimate, with line by line pricing, was very understandable and reasonable. Result: His team spent a lot of time fixing what the previous contractor did to my house. He came up with solutions for the range hood and drywall damage, dangerous electric wiring, and installed all new interior doors (one of which is a sliding door in the kitchen and the other contractor could not figure out how to do it). Oh might I add that he also called Home Depot numerous times on my behalf to find out what was going on with my doors.. Their estimated delivery date changed four times. Because of his persistence and expertise, he was able to get them delivered to my house free of charge. I got really lucky here because his team actually fixed a few extra things and he DID NOT CHARGE ME for them. As a single female trying to make ends meet and pick up the pieces after what happened earlier, this meant a lot to me. They also kept my condo very clean, they arrived early in the morning, and stayed late in to the evening to finish the job. Bottom line: Ahmad turned out to be everything and more than described in the Yelp reviews. I could not be happier. My house is now safe (no crazy electrical wires dangling anywhere) and looks amazing. I hope to work with him again in the future.

I was not living in the DMV area when we started the project so they did a great job of communicating remotely during the design process. His architect, Darren and interior design team, Christina Simon, took samples of things we liked and found ways to integrate them into the house. The property has so many cool features from finishes, to a basement apartment, gym, and a roof deck. It's a 4,400 sq foot house but feels like it's 6k. Rob, Jim, and team are very particular about how things are done. If something doesn't look right, they are going to have it corrected properly and they did. From building for energy efficient, print labeling everything ( low voltage, electrical, was, gas), to managing the draw schedule, they really focus on the little things during what is a very stressful experience. After moving in, they ensured punch list items were attended to. Unfortunately, we had to relocate for work after a year but the focus on details and quality allowed us to get top dollar for our property. Having now bought another newly built home only further highlights the unique focus on service and quality building of Zimmermann homes. Wish I could have had him build my house out west.

It's the second house I have built with Rob and his team in the last 4 years and this experience was even better than my first one in 2018. Zimmermann Homes continues to improve its operations continuously, whereby the customer remains first and foremost. Building together over the past 12-18 months had several challenges, primarily supply chain issues, most of which were entirely out of our control. However, Rob and his team worked even harder to source substitutes that were just as good or as timely as the initial selections we made for the design of the house. As someone who visits dozens of newly constructed homes annually, I am very aware of the quality and pricing of the competition facing Zimmermann Homes, so when I say that you can't beat the "bang for the buck", I'm confident that it's true. The quality of the architectural structure, design, construction, and home efficiency are truly unmatched at the price point offered by Zimmermann Homes. More than anything, Rob and his team are really good to work with. It's expected that things will go awry at some point in building a custom home, whether it's a schedule delay, design issue, permit snag, or selection that is out of stock. Recognizing this, Zimmermann Homes is creative dealing with such issues and they do whatever is necessary to minimize disruption and stress for the home-owner. Rob has built an incredible business for home construction in the Northern VA area and I can't think of a better company to work with when building a home. He has put together a team of experts that seamlessly work together so that issues are resolved quickly and most of the time it is done behind the scenes, making the customer's experience much better. I would be remiss if I didn't give shout-outs to the members of Rob's team. Darren is amazing at helping you design a home that works for your individual needs, while being very aesthetically pleasing to the eye, both inside and out. Christina and her team are the best in the business when it comes to the color schemes and styles, making your budget go as far as possible with the selections for appliances, tile, cabinets, countertops, and lighting. Finally, Jim J. is a savant when it comes to managing the overall project and making sure that the customer gets exactly what he/she wants, at the highest level of quality throughout. His attention to detail will always amaze me and any other customer he has ever had. I couldn't be happier with the final product. Friends, family, and neighbors that visit are amazed at how well it came out, especially during a worldwide pandemic. I could not endorse Zimmermann Homes more highly. They are the best at what they do. When I build my next house, there is no doubt that I will ask Rob and his team to work with me again! - The Scardino Family (again), Arlington, VA

This is especially true if you are selling an inherited property as I was earlier this year. A good real estate agent will know the area, know the laws and rules and will help assess your home and get it listed and sold for a "good price". A great real estate agent is a counselor, a partner in your effort, someone who "has your back" throughout the process in addition to doing all of the real estate work. Philippa Main is an *outstanding* real estate agent and an even better person. My father passed away leaving a home in Woodbridge, Virginia - the home in which I grew up and which contained almost 50 years of possessions. I contacted Philippa in March of 2026 to discuss its potential sale even as the house was in significant disarray while I engaged in the slow process of cleaning it out and sorting through the many things my parents had accumulated over the years. When she visited the home, I looked around and threw up my hands. Philippa looked around and said, "we can make this happen." I sought her out specifically because she mentioned having expertise in sales of homes that are inherited - a particular niche that involves a delicate dance of handling family dynamics, wills, probate laws and determining what, if any, money should be put into renovations or improvements that will get a reasonable return on the investment. From our first conversation over the phone - which she took time to do in the middle of a busy weekend - Philippa was incredibly personable, easy to talk to and anticipated many of my questions and many of my concerns as we talked. By the end of our conversation, I felt like I was chatting with a friend who had expertise I needed. Over the following three months, she was a (rapidly-responded-to) text or phone call away as I navigated getting the house ready for sale. She helped outline a schedule and a plan to list the home. She connected me with a large network of trusted service providers from junk removers to contractors to painters to flooring experts from whom I obtained estimates and some of whom I contracted to help clear out the house and prepare it for sale. While she always reiterated that she would back any decision I made regarding the house, I always sought her counsel when making major decisions such as whether or not to spend money on renovations and, if so, which ones were most important. Of course, there were obstacles - some amusing, some less-so - but Philippa helped me handle each one with a confidence borne of having "seen it before". That is an incredibly valuable thing when dealing with a stressful situation. In the end, the home was listed in June and had nearly seventy showings in three days. The house sold for well over its asking price and after all of it I know some things: The home could have been sold by another agent. But few, if any, others could have been a partner in the process the way Philippa was for me. She was a trusted resource, a confidant, a person who knew when to inject humor into a situation and when helping me vent was what was needed - she understands people and the process of selling an inherited home in addition to being a brilliant real estate agent who knows the area and who knows how to get the job done. I couldn't recommend her more for ANY real estate work but, especially, if you face the task of preparing and selling an inherited property.
