She was incredibly kind, patient, and genuinely cared about helping us figure out what was going on with our avocado and citrus trees. She asked great questions and gave us so much helpful information about the leaf and fruit issues we've been dealing with. She also shared an amazing watering diagram that made everything click for us, and explained the benefits of Gro-Power -avocado/citrus fertilizer, and Bonide Super Soap in a way that was easy to understand. This has been a healthy life saver for me and others. Gardening is so therapeutic and relaxing. The staff here are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. When I am able to get to this location I always find more than I was looking for which is great. There is a huge selection of indoor plants that are well cared for as well as a large selection of herbs and outdoor plants. Find your happy place here. I was really happy to discover there was an Armstrong Garden Center in Tustin. I grew up in Tustin but never knew we had one here until recently! They're well stocked with all types of indoor and outdoor plants! I specifically came in looking for monsteras and alocasias. They have a large selection so this place is a must visit for any plant enthusiast. They have a very large variety of pots as well. Great place for a variety of potting soils. The service was excellent. Everyone was very professional and patient with my questions. Definitely will be planning to visit each time I'm in the city to see if they're stocking anything rare! read more

I always pass by this location going through downtown Tustin. Love how much of it is visible in the open, since most of the time I'm here in the evening or at night when it's closed. Visited in September, so there's a lot of pumpkins out and ready for Halloween, as well as some cute and simple Halloween decor. Inside there were some Christmas decor and lights ready as well. I know this is a franchise, but it is a tad more pricier than what I can get at the local college agricultural department or the smaller mom and pop nursery near me, but for prime real estate in the OC, I guess that makes sense. I just love Armstrong Nursery during the holidays! And I was so glad I was able to sign up for their fall make and take class! We made a beautiful mini pumpkin with succulents. They had plenty of supplies and the instructors were all so nice and helpful! I need to be sure to keep my eye out for more classes. They were also so kind to have Starbucks coffee on hand for us! 'Tis the season to frequent the garden center! Of all garden centers to choose from, Armstrong truly is my favorite! This location is smaller than my local Armstrong, but it still feels very familiar. I love how everything is laid out, I love how healthy the plants are, and I love how the staff is friendly and knowledgeable across the board. They had just received a new shipment of house plants, so I was able to score a beautiful spotted begonia and a maiden hair fern. read more

Love browsing all the different options at Armstrong Garden Centers! The place is well organized, well labeled, and seemingly reasonably priced. We've been able to take advantage of seasonal sales and usually whatever we want to buy is in stock and available. This time, we got a bunch of pots, some cute succulents that were on sale, as well as some herbs for our kitchen, and some cheerful looking marigolds. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and very considerate when packing up purchased plants. Very helpful to include paper to lay down so that you can keep your car/trunk clean without much hassle. Easy parking at this Old Town Tustin location with their own designated parking lot, and love the convenient flat bed carts so you can stack whatever you're buying. read more

This is a great spot for all your gardening and outdoor needs. It's located in Old Town Tustin but it has its own parking lot which is always a plus! Right now they're stocked up on Christmas trees and decor but they have all their usual stuff as well. The whole store was really cohesive and had a nice flow, I could have spent hours here if I allowed myself. I love this place. However, the last 3 times I have been here the store manager has been berating an employee. Again today I observed yet another poor employee being treated disrespectfully at the check out inside the store. Not quietly but loudly and rudely so that I, a customer awaiting check out can clearly hear her. The poor employee looked at me, embarrassed but also clearly uncomfortable with the store manager's behavior. Each time it has been a different employee but the same manager- Tonya. This lovely garden center is located in the heart of old town Tustin and offers so many plants, flowers, and even pumpkins in their mini super cute pumpkin patch during fall. I bought a few plants from here in the past. If you enjoy browsing both outdoor and indoor plants, this is the place for you. They have great competitive prices too! Time for an update review. It's February 1st, and it's a bright and sunny day, but still the dead of winter. I went to my local Armstrong Garden Center to shop for beefsteak tomato seeds and a combo/variable watering head that goes on the end of a watering wand. One out of two ain't bad. Staff trying to be helpful showed me what they had for sale in the way of watering wands with a single head, but I wasn't really interested in that style. I also bought a bag of expanded clay balls to re-pot my two varieties of spider plants that are not too happy out on the patio right now. Easy parking, chill place, nice selection of plants, truly a store with something for everyone. read more

Danni answered and was so kind. friendly and light-hearted that we talked on and she shared with me a solution to my bug problem on my flowers. And I remembered how gorgeous this store was when I visited it a few years ago. I had to write this review because Danni was such a breath of fresh and so helpful. SO disappointed with this business. Some of the staff are nice but the management is the absolute worst. I had a small area on my patio where I wanted to remove the rose bushes that shed and replace them with lower maintenance plants, particularly ones that don't shed as much. I was OK with watering frequently but the constant sweeping was hurting my back condition. So I decided to fork over $300 for a consult through Armstrong. The consult was fine and I was given a list of plants that either don't shed (like cactuses) or ones that shed less frequently than the rose bushes. The list also included the amount needed as well as the amount of soil, mulch, etc. I was told to simply go to Armstrong and give the consult plan to a store associate and they would give me the selected items to purchase. I could then have the landscaper pick them up. I was given 2 names to ask for and that either person would fill the cart based on the plan. Since I'm not a horticulture expert by any means, this seemed perfect. Well, one of the associates recommended to me was there and the person was very nice and friendly. But as we were walking around, I questioned several times whether or not the plants they were pointing out shed a lot. I was told they did not. Fast forward hundreds and hundreds of dollars later as I also needed to hire a landscaper besides the cost of the plants, soil, and mulch, I noticed the plants were shedding daily. I found myself sweeping as much as I did when I had the rose bushes. It turned out that very few of the recommended plants from the $300 consult were the ones sold to me. I took pictures of the shedding and even videotaped to show how messy they were and required daily sweeping. When I went into the store and spoke to one of the Managers, Tonya, to ask for a refund for the most shedding plants, she was so rude and unapologetic. It was as if she was the one who was bothered. She said "All plants shed." I explained that the ones on the consult shed less but they were not provided to me. She then actually told me that I needed to take some responsibility for not following the consult plan!! She said I could get a credit or refund if I carried all the shedding plants back into the store. I explained that I don't have a truck and would need to pay the landscaper to do that for me so it would not make sense. Not to mention the inconvenience of it. It was very clear from my invoice that the recommended plants from the consult were not the ones provided to me when I went into the store with the plan. I followed this interaction up with emails, the photos, and even included videos of the area, showing how much the plants were shedding. She again insisted I'd need to bring in the plants that I was having removed. (Only so they could throw them in the trash. She admitted this is what they would do.) Again, there was not one apology for the inconvenience, no acknowledgment that the consult plan from Armstrong was not followed by the store associate. I asked who was above her. She referred me to Chris Cleary; he was at another Armstrong location. So I contacted him and immediately he also said that all the shedding plants would need to be carried back to the store and he even bragged about what a terrific return policy Armstrong had; that "no other retailer would do that." When I tried to explain about the consult not being followed and the hassle of having to shop for plants again and remove everything and replant, and how ridiculous it is to have to pay someone to return dead plants, he then said to send him the photos and the videos and he would have to "research" what happened. So I did just that; I emailed him as he requested with the invoice, the plan which showed the recommended plants, photos and videos. Subsequently, I left 2 voice mail messages and sent another email. On 5/19/25, he sent me an email stating he got the information I sent and was still "researching" and that he'd get back to me. As I write this, it is 6/21/25, and I have not heard anything back from him. This company is proving to be penny wise and dollar foolish. The customer service from Management is one of the worst I have ever experienced. It is so disrespectful and demeaning. I have many friends in the community and I have already told several about this awful experience and waste of money. I would not recommended this business to anybody because of the poor Management!! read more

Bought a snake plant and it is thriving! All I do is give it water.. can't take too much credit because the folks at Armstrong Gardens made one healthy sansevieria! My husband and I came in on Saturday to "look around and get some ideas" but we hadn't been there even 5 minutes and Bob just from looking at us says..."Are you looking for one that needs more sun?" And next thing we knew we had an entire truck load of exactly what we were thinking of with step by step instructions on what to do when we got home to plant it all- we have no idea what to do when it comes to planting! The experience was fun and the selection was incredible! We drove to a few nurseries over the past few weekends and left with nothing and almost gave up... now our backyard is looking amazing and we are more confident with all the knowledge Bob gave to us! What's crazy is this was the smallest nursery we had been to by far- but it had the BEST selection of ALL of the places we went in OC- shocking really! Thanks Bob! Really like this place and they are very friendly and helpful but this review is strictly for their milkweed plants. DO NOT buy milkweed from here. We bought 3 plants and were so excited to watch the monarchs lay eggs on them, hatch into caterpillars, and grow into bigger caterpillars, however every single one of them turned dark, started deflating and dripping dark ooze. Come to find out this is due to the plants being sprayed with pesticides. Now instead of helping the monarchs we are killing them! These plants were a complete waste of money and we need to chop all the leaves of to prevent anymore monarchs from laying eggs on it. So disappointed in Armstrong in selling these plants and we beg the monarchs forgiveness. read more

ISo for the umpteenth time, I visit the tustin location, looking for patio tomatoes, but they did not have any. They put my name/phone and my request on the list and said I would be receiving a call very soon as they were coming in. Two weeks weeks later my girlfriend gives me a call and tells me that she just bought the last patio tomato at tustin Armstrong . Wtf? Why did I not receive a phone call? They counter help always have "attitude" like they know everything but where is the customer service? LAGUNA HILLS NURSERY is the real nursery in town. And they are nice AND knowledgeable there, something you will not get from Armstrong counter help. If you notice on the other reviews, the owner only responds to positive reviews, which is so ironic. To the owner-Are you only looking for praise or are you looking to make improvements? Sounds to me like you just wanna hear the good stuff and everybody else must be wrong. You hire rude unhelpful people that lack knowledge and customer no-service. read more

This is my first time at Armstrong Garden Centers. I have never seen so many beautiful plants all in one place. It's clean and everything is put together so well. I wish I could've had more time to walk around but I was in a rush and had to leave. The selection of windchimes which is what I went in for and was surprisingly large. Usually when I look at windchimes there's like three or four and are busted. Really nice and I'll definitely be back. read more

She seemed pretty adamant in knowing, and I explained to her I had seen it at a different location and asked if she could check. I'm not sure how she checked at that point but she said they didn't have any again .... I happened to be driving by later, and decided to stop anyways. Well, guess what? There was a whole display full of them!! I was thoroughly disappointed in the lack of customer service and knowledge ... she seemed to say no too quick without even checking. Good selection of plants and patio furniture. Love the big fountain out front on the way into the outdoor area. We were saddened to see that someone had left the plastic wrap on some outdoor patio chair seat cushions and that as a result the sun and rain had caused moisture to build up inside the plastic and ruin the cushions. Not environmentally conscious which is ironic for a garden center. Some of the plants were already dying due to too much direct sun. Hidden away in Old Town Tustin, is a surprisingly lush and well-stocked home garden center! They've got everything from potting soil to perennial flowers, to ready-to-plant trees for your backyard. In fact, most of their offerings are nicer than what you would find at a Home Depot or Lowe's, and their staff is more knowledgeable as well. This is probably because it is a plant specialty store. The location has also been here for a long time, so they are definitely doing something right. As far as the grounds go, it is really quite beautiful. All of the flowers are arranged in bright and colorful patterns depending on the season, with every kind of plant you could imagine for a garden. Indoor, outdoor, you name it! They even have water fountains and pretty much anything you might need for a garden. I came looking for a cactus of all things, and they had 10 or 15 different kinds to choose from. I also had a pretty good time checking out everything they had for sale. Overall this is a pretty great one-stop plant shop, and they will probably be able to meet any of your horticultural needs. read more

SO MANY PLANTS!!! Hearing the fountains and the music, it's very relaxing. I do love the selection outside, and the layout makes it easy to move around the aisles even if someone else is blocking the way! The staff seemed friendly enough from who we encountered though it was brief. The store manager Tanya is nice and she understands people and appreciates customers' loyalty. But there's this lady Deanna who has poor customer service and does not appreciate customers' loyalty to Armstrong. She is indifferent to customer's needs and brushed off any request previously honored by other managers. She lacks people's skills and shouldn't be in manager position. The only reason I had to come here is because my own store in Irvine that I have purchased for the last decade is closing :( read more
