I used Yelp to get quotes in having an Schlage Encode lock installed on my home. Armstrong responded quickly on Yelp and called me in a couple of hours. I was quoted $500 - just for the lock. I pointed out that the Schlage Encode was on Amazon for $212. (I had already done a lot of research to ensure this was the lock I wanted). I was then told by Armstrong that the items on Amazon are not the same quality as what they can receive directly from Schlage. I left feeling the locks sold on Amazon were somehow inferior. So, I asked Armstrong how much installation would cost - they said something like $70 for the service call and $60 for the rekeying - $130 installation. So about $630 with lock and installation overall was my understanding. It did not sit well with me that Schlage would sell inferior products direct to customers. So I called Schlage customer service to ask them about that fact. Schlage said they have never heard of selling unique stock to locksmiths. The stock they sell is the same for everyone. (Also note: Schlage has its own Amazon store). I ordered from Amazon the Schlage Encode lock for $212 and had my handyman install it for $25 - totaling $237. I understand a business has to make money - but I can't seem to justify paying over triple the cost. Also, they seem unprepared for knowledgeable customers who come ready with information and have already done their homework. read more

My husband and I decided it was time to get a small safe for our home to keep a few things in that we don't want to get stolen or burned up in a fire. Nothing huge but something that a casual burglar wouldn't pick up and carry away. I looked around but Melbourne doesn't have much of a selection beyond the ones carried by places like Home Depot and we wanted a more secure safe than what they carry. I looked up some safe dealers in Orlando and sent emails asking about what they carried, hoping to narrow things down before driving over there to look around. Kevin Armstrong answered my email quickly and provided a link with the safes they carry. After reading over the info and a few emails back and forth we decided on the safe we wanted. We paid online and it turns out Kevin lives in Melbourne and was able to bring the safe to our home and helped bring it inside. Just went to their showroom floor/storefront to get a copy of a key made. The price was awesome, the time was great (it took them maybe a minute). Got home and tested the key, worked flawlessly; some places you have to use the key a while before it's smooth due to the slight imperfections in the cut key; not with this key, it was smooth from the first use. I have no complaints at all with their service for key duplication. My office manager arranged to have someone from Armstrong come out to rekey my office door. The old lock had not been used in years and the key was long gone. The technicain (Ian Martin) arrived within hours of being called. He had the lock replaced in no time. During the replacement he stepped a way for a moment and during that time I'd managed to lock myself out of my office. He was back quickly and in a flash he had that door open and everything fixed.
