Great people. I've been buying lumber from them for 30 years, and they have the cleanest restrooms I've ever seen!

5-Star Review for Oak Electric…read more I can't say enough good things about Oak Electric! From start to finish, they've been dependable, professional, and impressively fast. They handled the installation of my furnace, A/C, and generator. Every single step was smooth, efficient, and stress-free plus competitively priced! What really sets Oak Electric apart is the people. I genuinely love working with my Oak team and I say "my" because they truly feel like an extension of my family. Whether I'm calling with a question or scheduling service, I'm always met with kindness, honesty, and a sense that I'm genuinely being taken care of. They NEVER dismiss my concern or questions. They show up when they say they will, do the job right the first time, and take the time to explain everything clearly. Plus they follow-up. I never feel like just another customer. They treat me with respect and care, every single time. If you're looking for a company you can rely on for quality work and a personal touch, Oak Electric is it. I wouldn't trust my home comfort and backup power to anyone else!

Oak Electric installed my solar system after I selected them through the City of Ann Arbor's…read moreSolarize Ann Arbor group-buy program. Overall, I've been pleased with the installation and the system itself. My concern is with the follow-up service. Part of the critter guard came loose and fell off, and it has now been almost three months since I first contacted Oak. During that time, I've corresponded with three different people at the company as well as their phone service. I initially asked whether the repair was covered under warranty. I also asked that, if it was not, they simply provide a parts list or tell me what I would need to buy so I could address it myself. I still have not received that information. I was subsequently told that Oak would take care of the repair, but almost three months later the critter guard is still sitting on the sidewalk. This seems like a relatively minor issue, and I've tried to be flexible about the solution. I would be satisfied either with Oak reattaching it as promised or with enough information to understand what is needed to fix it properly. I chose Oak in part because of its participation in Ann Arbor's organized solar group-buy program, and I otherwise like the solar installation. I'm posting this review because the normal service channels have not resolved what should be a straightforward service request. I hope someone at Oak sees this and gets it taken care of. I'll be happy to update the review when it is resolved.

Last month we had to replace all of the…read morewooden trim on the exterior, the Tyvek wrap under the trim, and the OSB wood under the Tyvek wrap due to the improper installation of the Z-flashing. The Z-flashing wasn't installed with any type of end damn which caused water to pour behind the exterior wood. I called Fox Brothers and spoke to Bob at the Hartland location who is apparently a service manager. He made several excuses including "that's industry standard...we don't get paid a lot to do these new construction jobs....it's the builders fault the house wasn't wrapped better..it's hard to get good workers to do the job, etc., etc. My next door neighbor just paid $5,500 to have the same thing repaired on his home where the aluminum trim wasn't installed properly. Two independent repair contractors have told us that Fox Brothers did not install the Z-flashing properly which caused extensive water damage. In the end, Bob shrugged his shoulders and said "well, your house is 12 years old, there is nothing we can do for you." See the attached photos on Google review. All the rotting starts right where the end dams on the Z-flashing are missing.

I've seen a review on here complaining about wood damage on a 12 year old house, and I just want to say that's to be expected. That's why no one uses wood trim on the exterior anymore. If you put wood trim on your house, it will rot unless you're re-caulking and repairing every other year. A lot of the systems used for house wraps and waterproofing have evolved a TON since the first days of vinyl siding. I remodel for a living, and I can say every house we work on that has vinyl over 10+ years old has some water damage. It's vinyl. I expect that current systems of house and window wraps will out perform those of 10-20 years ago, but only time will tell. If you want guaranteed longevity go with a quality lap siding like Hardie panels and do the maintenance. Don't knock fox bros because of an industry wide issue. Methods for waterproofing have changed and fox bros are as current as the best out there. Keep in mind that any installer is as only as good as the product the homeowners purchase.
