I'd leave zero stars if I could! He told me my car needed…read morea motor 5 years ago and it's still running well. A $4000+ estimate and I'm pretty sure it's bc I'm a female, but also he just enjoys ripping people off! Avoid! Run! Go anywhere but this repair shop! I'd really hoped he'd be a good business man bc I live a half a mile away. If you want to scam and rip off your neighbors, you can't really get any worse! It says it's a 16 minute walk for me to this horrible place! This guy needs to get a clue, bc taking care of your neighbors means repeat business and a lot of word of mouth business. LoL Especially from me bc I love to talk and I refuse to allow anyone I know to go to this place! I make sure to tell everyone how he tried to charge me $4000+ for a motor I didn't need! I have the estimate and car still! So I can show people the facts! If you'd like proof, reply and I'll add pictures of both! Do not trust this person, I can't pertain to him as a man bc men don't try to sell women what they do not need, expecting that bc I'm a woman I'm stupid. Well, sorry for him. I'm a female but my car parks on a concrete pad. The car leaks nothing, doesn't go through oil! Runs perfectly! Not only a rip off, zero quality repair, disrespectful to women, rude and rips off his neighbors. Any shop that has the same cars in the lot all the time, is a horrible repair shop! That's the way it is at this shop!

I've been here a few times about 5-7 years ago, but would never go back. This place attempted to…read morereally stick it to me. Went for an inspection, and was advised I needed a transmission flush and filter. I declined and ironically, when I left his garage, my transmission was slipping and found it to be very low on transmission fluid. It wasn't an issue when I took it there. I put in fluid and it stopped slipping. I was suspicious and should have avoided Getzke's from that day on. But his garage is close by, and it made it easier. It was probably in the same year (around 2014) that I went to Getzke's Auto because I had a starter that wasn't working, and it needed to be replaced. I dropped off my Monte Carlo to get it done and I only live a mile from this shop. When I returned to pick it up, I got the news that I had a cracked block and my motor would need to be rebuilt, or replaced. I was given two separate estimates with very well detailed lists of parts needed and labor costs, for rebuilding the motor, and the other estimate was for replacing it. I still have these estimates and when I get to where they are, I will take photos to show them here. One was slightly higher than the other, but both were just under $3,500. I am in a wheelchair, and I was about 45 when this happened, but just because I'm disabled doesn't mean that I don't know what it's like to have a cracked block. I know that the smell of anifreeze would be present, and i know what it looks like when you take off the radiator cap and see oil mixed in and its a foamy mess. So I took the estimates and said I would think about which way to go about taking care of this cracked block. I knew he was full of crap and knew I was never going back there again. Its 6 years & 25,000 miles later, and the motor in that car runs perfect and has great power. There wasn't really any need for thousands of dollars of work on my engine. He was just assuming I'd trust him and go along with his scam. If I did fall for it, he probably would have done nothing at all to it. Maybe wipe down a few things under the hood. In my 14 years of living in Newark Valley, I've dealt with 3 auto repair garages. And all 3 of them attempted to, or did screw me over. I'm not a complainer and accuser without reason. I now have a few places where I can take my vehicles to be worked on and inspected, and be confident about the need for repairs existing, and confident they will be done right and priced fairly. If you need work on your vehicles, stay away from the crooks in Newark Valley. Dave Arnold was the worst, then Getzke and probably the lesser of the scammers would be Dave Jackson's Auto on 38. He'll get ya if you let him. A garage that is honest and good and trusted, will always be a busy garage, and they'll tell you it will be a couple days till they can get on it. Its worth the wait. Take your vehicle to any of the 3 I mentioned and they will get you right in. Because they are lousy and have little business.

A tree 8 feet up a bank on the roadside fell and struck our car while we were in motion. The windshield and sunroof were shattered, and the roof peeled back like a tin can. Serious injuries resulted. The NYS Police notified Val-U auto to remove the car. Incident occurred Thursday afternoon. By Friday 1200 noon, I called Val-U Auto to pay the fees and remove the car from lot (As Stated I am traveling and not from the area. Vehicle has Liability Insurance only) Dispatcher stated she would call me in an hour with price and vehicle location. 2 hrs later I followed up with another call. Dispatcher stated the owner had not told her the price yet. Keep in mind 5:00pm is closing time, And they are not open on weekends. I called again about an hour later, reminding the dispatcher that I wanted to remove the car today because i am traveling and did not want to incur fees and would not be i. town on Monday Morning when they opened again. Dispatcher hung up on me. I notified Geico who called the dispatcher but also was unable to get a price. This company clearly has an MO of holding your car, license plates, and time ransome. They clearly had no intention of releasing the vehicle until they could squeeze every last storage dollar they could. This company should not be placed in a position of public trust and utilized by the NYS Police. I will need to travel 250 miles back to Owego on Monday. I will be notifying Christoper Friend, Tom O'Mara, Peter Oberacker, in addition to my local NYS Rep., and Tioga county Rotation Tow list coordinator. My next stop after this review is the BBB. As a retired police officer, I can say that we would never allow this type of behavior from the Tow Companies on our list. I will be making the Major at NYSP Troop C aware of the occurrence also. This is very disappointing. Matt Karpel, Val-U Auto Owner, I do not know if you are aware of this occurrence, but I hope you are willing to make this right. To all reading this post. I will advise and update as to Val-U Auto reaponse.
