It was around 2011 when he totally robbed me of over $2400 to fix my van, and when I left his garage, I broke down 5 miles later. It was the beginning of a long and miserable hassle and he should have been jailed for what he did to me. My dealings with this crook ended up in court. DMV court where I took him with the help of a DMV Special Investigator. Dave showed up for the first hearing, but skipped the next one because he knew he had no chance of winning. I was awarded a judgement of $2,400 for his multiple scams, screw ups and incompetence. The problem for me is, just because I sued him and won, there is no realistic way to ever collect from this dirtbag. He's out of business now and I've seen that he has several properties that he will be losing because he didn't pay his property taxes. Dave Arnold was not only a terrible mechanic and business man, he was a slimey liar and the kind of guy that women are uncomfortable being around. There are local women that said he would stare at them and looked as if he was undressing them with his eyes, and did so with a creepy sinister smile. This is a horrible human without any morals or concious.

I had no choice in where my vehicle was towed. I was able to locate my vehicle the next morning. It was the weekend, and a bad snowstorm was coming. I spoke to the shop on the telephone and was told " Don't worry about your car. We will deal with it on Monday." To my huge surprise he charged me $72/day for 4 days of storage when I picked it up at 9 am on Monday morning. It was unlocked and had 10" of snow on it. I took him to small claims court and appeal and lost. He got away with this because he has a sign posted in his shop. He did not tell me he would charge me, or I would have used my Roadside Assistance and would have had my vehicle back Friday night. He took advantage of me when I was hurt and vulnerable instead of being a decent person and be upfront with the costs. He has been reported to NYS Office of the Attorney General (607) 251-2764, the Better Business Bureau and Tioga County Sheriff's Department who controls the list of towing companies. If you have any issues with Dave Jackson's Body shop, don't hesitate to call the Attorney General. They took my issue seriously and called his actions ethically wrong and deceptive. Unfortunately, they need more reports in order to open an investigation.

I was sick and in the hospital when this happened. My wife had an accident with my van on May 8th,…read more2020 when a deer jumped out in front of her and she tried to avoid hitting it. She missed the deer, but ended up in a deep ditch and both front tires broke off the rims with a lot of damage to the front end. She called Dave Jackson to get a tow, and thought he might be able to fix it. The van was in mint condition when I bought it in September 2019, and must have been stored inside because it had no rust and low miles. It was a 2001 Ford conversion van with a new heavy duty wheelchair lift in it. It was a great deal at $11,000. Well, my wife waited a couple days before telling me about this because she hoped it could be fixed before I was out of the hospital. Dave told her that it was totaled and was a complete loss. She didnt think he was being honest, so she had a friend look at it. It was wrecked pretty bad, but with around $2,000 our friend said he could get it back to drivable. About 5 days after the accident, I called Dave and asked what we owed him, he said $200 for the tow and $50 a day storage. I said I didnt know storage cost so much. He said he would give me a break and not charge for the storage if I signed the title over to him and paid the $200 for towing. Everyone I talked to said that was crazy, and he just wanted to steal my van. I'm in a wheelchair and need a van to get around. Dave said "okay, I'll let you have somebody come over and wrench out the whelchair lift". Yeah right... that is not an easy task. I told Dave I would rather just have him tow it to my house, and I'd get it fixed by somebody else. He said "nope, its too hard to get it up on my wrecker and there is no way to move it". He thinks because I am in a wheelchair that I'm an idiot. By now, he'd mentioned giving him the title would be the best solution a few times, and that just didn't seem right. He towed it to his shop, and got it out of a deep ditch, but couldn't tow it back to my house about 6 miles away? So, we called another towing guy in Owego, and he took it to my house for $80. Dave Jackson was not a happy camper and was clearly angry that he didn't get the title from me. So what he did, was charge us $500 for retrieving it from the ditch, and taking it to his shop and letting it sit in his big open lot. Why would he be so angry about us wanting to keep it? He said was totaled. I think he is a snake and had absolute intentions to fix it and sell it for a few grand or more. He is not a person you want to do business with. He viewed my small and fragile wife, and me in my wheelchair as easy victims that would not be able to manage any other solution than to sign the van over to him for free. Avoid Dave Jackson Auto and his dishonest business, or risk being taken advantage of. What I just told you is 100% the truth.

A tree 8 feet up a bank on the roadside fell and struck our car while we were in motion. The windshield and sunroof were shattered, and the roof peeled back like a tin can. Serious injuries resulted. The NYS Police notified Val-U auto to remove the car. Incident occurred Thursday afternoon. By Friday 1200 noon, I called Val-U Auto to pay the fees and remove the car from lot (As Stated I am traveling and not from the area. Vehicle has Liability Insurance only) Dispatcher stated she would call me in an hour with price and vehicle location. 2 hrs later I followed up with another call. Dispatcher stated the owner had not told her the price yet. Keep in mind 5:00pm is closing time, And they are not open on weekends. I called again about an hour later, reminding the dispatcher that I wanted to remove the car today because i am traveling and did not want to incur fees and would not be i. town on Monday Morning when they opened again. Dispatcher hung up on me. I notified Geico who called the dispatcher but also was unable to get a price. This company clearly has an MO of holding your car, license plates, and time ransome. They clearly had no intention of releasing the vehicle until they could squeeze every last storage dollar they could. This company should not be placed in a position of public trust and utilized by the NYS Police. I will need to travel 250 miles back to Owego on Monday. I will be notifying Christoper Friend, Tom O'Mara, Peter Oberacker, in addition to my local NYS Rep., and Tioga county Rotation Tow list coordinator. My next stop after this review is the BBB. As a retired police officer, I can say that we would never allow this type of behavior from the Tow Companies on our list. I will be making the Major at NYSP Troop C aware of the occurrence also. This is very disappointing. Matt Karpel, Val-U Auto Owner, I do not know if you are aware of this occurrence, but I hope you are willing to make this right. To all reading this post. I will advise and update as to Val-U Auto reaponse.
