Welcoming cute little store and cafe. As you walk in, you would mistake it for an eclectic gift store which it is and more. Stopped in for a quick coffee break and loved the menu and the host. Wish I was hungry enough to try their food. Don't miss this place if you are driving on Highway 29 to or from Wisconsin.

We both had potato salad. Husband had the ham & cheese panini and I had the apple cheddar ham panini. Everything was excellent. The restaurant was clean, neat/cool atmosphere. The service was great. Everybody was really nice. This place is by far worth searching out. We drive between mn and wi a lot. This is now one of our favorite places, and will be our stop if we are eating. The breakfast menu looked great also. If your doing a road trip, there is NO need to stop at any fast foods. This food is WAY better, and doesn't take long at all. Try this place..........you will be glad you did!!!!!

The food was delicious! We had the Bourbon Burger & Gouda & Turkey sandwich....can't say enough good about this place!

The jalapeño popper burger with chips and the ham and apple panini with a side of salad. Both were super yummy!

Inside you'll find a gift shop offering Wisconsin-themed items, along with a fridge that has different meats and sausages. There are conference rooms that look like they could be rented or used for small groups. In the middle of all this is the coffee shop. The coffee shop itself is not a large operation. There are some very nice seating options that include high tops, tables, and couches. The windows let in a lot of natural light. There is merchandise that includes shirts, coffee, and accessories. There were a few other people inside, and everyone was having quiet conversations. Got a nice greeting from the baristas. It looked like one of them was in training. Ordered a couple of London Fog Tea Lattes (a little lavender, a little vanilla, extra foam) in a mug. I would normally get a piece of pastry, and prefer a scone, but they didn't offer those, so I skipped that. The senior staffer was doing a nice job helping the trainee with the recipe and process. It seemed to be a helpful and caring relationship between the two. After a few minutes, we got our drinks. We usually just get the drink in a mug, but our drinks were made in a small coffee urn, and we were able to pour them after they finished steeping. That was a nice option. The drinks had nice flavor with the extra foam. However, they were just barely warm. We decided to drink them, but I did mention this to one of the staff afterward. It's a nice place to hang out. Next time I would definitely mention or ask for my latte to be hotter (around 130°F to 145°F).

We visited a few places before deciding to drop into The Nickel Barn. I had seen the signs for it on the way to Eau Claire but wouldn't have imagined I'd end up there. Especially after already having coffee but I figured it was the one time I have to try it and it's my goal to try every coffeehouse in the world... so here we are. The Nickel Barn is literally in a barn. A big red barn. Upon walking inside, you get greeted with a large amount of antiques and a coffee counter in the back right with some ice cream and baked goods to boot. While I was there to try their coffee, I never not look around and this place has some truly unique antique pieces. Tim and I looked around for a bit before ordering coffee. Tim got some kind of refresher and I got my usual americano. We took our drinks to a sitting area where, to our surprise, they had some board games. We took some time to chill out, sip our drinks, and play a few different games. I liked one so much that I ended up buying it a few days later at a board game store in Oakwood Mall. The americano was good. Not super bitter like I typically like but more smooth and mellow. After having an americano a few hours before, it was probably best that I had something with less punch. Tim really liked his drink and wanted something non-caffeinated since he is usually only good for one coffee-type drink a day. Overall, The Nickel Barn was really cool Not a lot I would buy when it comes to antiques since that's not really my vibe but I can vouch for the coffee being really good. Plus, the barista was doing a really good job manning the front counter and the drive-thru window.

It's a nice spot, with a large windowed storefront and inviting signage. Inside is a large open area with the order counter toward the rear. An old brick wall, metal lighting fixtures, and a tin ceiling give it a vintage vibe. There are café tables with metal chairs for small groups. The noise level is reasonable, and it's easy to have a conversation. They have an extensive coffee menu, including tea lattes. But the one thing that really stood out was the bakery selection. They have items called Cornetto, which look like croissants. I was told they're similar and used in similar ways (fillings, glazes, etc.). We ended up getting a coffee, a London Fog Tea Latte (little lavender, little vanilla, extra foam), a Custard Danish, and an Apple Almond Scone. It didn't take long to get our order, and everything was amazingly good. The London Fog was made with loose-leaf tea and steeped well. The pastries were fresh, large, and very yummy. Everything was also very reasonably priced (you spend way more than this in most places -- and that's not something I usually fixate on). Excellent experience. Friendly service, excellent food and drinks, great value, and a warm atmosphere. If I could make one suggestion, it would be the metal chairs -- I just didn't find them very comfortable. Definitely on the "come back to" list!
