On the studio's recommendation, I booked an appointment for soft gel nails. Mina did my soft gel nails that day. I went in not knowing what I want. Mina provided a lot of great input and ideas for my bridal nails. I love how my nails turned out. Highly recommend! The place is clean, comfortable and welcoming.

This took forever and the end result was a nightmare. -I wasn't told what the person's name was, nor was i offered a beverage. The one thing I did like is that they played movies to watch. (I was there so long, I sat through almost 2 entire ones! ) My neck and back were so sore, I almost couldnt stand the pain. -I asked the girl to make the stripe silver- she made it gold (as well as all of them way too thin and crooked) -I asked her to make the bows bigger and she argued with me (so much that someone else came and did them) I wish the same person would of also completed the hearts- as they turned out very deformed. -She did not trim down, or push back my cuticles as every other place always has. They look awful -Many of my nails are lopsided, misshapen and or deformed. Looks like they were not professionally done at all. -She also did not clean out the underside of the nails. She left my original nails showing all different lenghts -it looks horrible. -She also did such a terrible job that after 2 days my thumbnail cracked -then broke right off! The other thumbnail, and middle nail cracked as well only 4 days after getting them done! I sent an email about this and have not heard back. After paying 110$ I am quite upset how horrible of a job this place did, especially since they were supposed to be an "award winning" salon! *Please see Photos* They look so bad that i am embarrassed about them - not to mention now I have to pay to get them fixed elsewhere as well as take time out to get them fixed I will not be returning ( since they have not contacted me about the email I sent about the problems I had ) *Update*- a week after getting them done my middle nail broke off so far down the nail bed it is super sore and it was bleeding a lot This is the second broken nail now, plus the cracked thumb which I am sure will also break off at any time. I have been getting my nails done for 20 years and never have they cracked and broke off like this - especially in the first week ! I emailed them again but unless they wish to refund a portion of the money I doubt they will be contacting me. Many nail places to chose from - this certainly won't be one of them.

Spoke directly to Amanda, the owner who was delightful, I told her I had booked into an available time for full facial IPL laser and plan to book another day for face and neck as there was no availability, she said if I wanted she would be happy to do it all at my appt as I was the last appt of the day! I showed up 15 min early and completed paperwork and a consult w/ Amanda who reviewed my skin, expectations and post treatment care. Her office and treatment rooms were beautiful and clean, her equipment also spotless and well organized. She completed the treatment and it was obvious she knew her stuff and her equipment well. I am completely satisfied and very happy to have found this wonderful practitioner and business. I will definitely be back. Thank you Amanda!

We really wanted to visit a lavender farm while on Salt Spring Island and Lavender and Black was…read morethe only option open on Monday. We found them through a Salt Spring Island guidebook and were drawn because they advertised lavender ice cream. We arrived at the farm nearly at closing time but the owners were still super nice and accommodating and welcomed us in. We got our ice cream and they explained some of the different types of lavender they have in the farm and let us freely roam around to take it all in. The ice cream was by far the best lavender ice cream I've ever had. The fragrance was super strong but not overwhelming and every bite tasted like lavender :) We were told that not every batch of their lavender ice cream comes out this great and we got very lucky. The farm is quite small but there are definitely still enough lavender to appreciate. They have a set of cute lawn chairs at the end of the walkway that were perfect for photos too! After our short walk, we checked out their shop. They have a lot of lavender products (as you would expect) and they're constantly working on experimenting with lavender to make more products too. By this point, it was definitely after closing time already but they never rushed us at all. In fact, they were super helpful in explaining how to use lavender products and giving us tips on how we can grow our own. This was overall such a great experience and I'm so happy that I got to stop by. I'm still thinking about that ice cream.

Left the nail salon crying and bleeding…read more I have never written a 1 star review, but I need others to be warned so as not to have the same experience. This is a barber shop that has bought some nail equipment but does not have the training, equipment, or skill to advertise nail services. They are clearly nice people who are well-intentioned, but past reviews are from before a clear ownership change and do not reflect current state. We requested two gel main/pedis. They started on the pedicure, and after one hour no nail polish at all had been used. They had only removed one of our previous gel polish and the other hadn't even had nails trimmed (and had no previous polish on). Knowing we didn't have much time left, we asked them to abandon our feet and begin on at least one of our manicures. Unfortunately, the manicure ended up being awful! The equipment was shoddy and the nail polish was very poor quality. Previous nail colour was still visible as it wasn't fully removed, the gel was clumpy/bubbled, and one nail was clipped on the skin and bled. Picture included. By the time we finished 2.5 hours later, we were incredibly frustrated. Then, they charged us $160. 30% more than we pay at a high quality salon in Vancouver, for literally no services being done to any respectable degree. $50 each for two pedicures that didn't end up having any polish applied (and my nails weren't even cut) and $55 for a manicure that no nail salon should ever charge for. They were kind people, but are offering services they cannot follow through on. If they had been honest, we would have saved our time and money. Learn from us!
