Super expensive and terrible service. I was the only customer and it took 15 minutes for me to place my order, pay and get my drink. And during that time didn't see one smile by any employee. Made me wait to place my order while two employees figured out some technical/cash register issue. They could have taken my order and then charged me when they figured out the cash issue. Then I asked if they had something like a moccachino which they didn't have. So they suggested a hot chocolate- with a shot of espresso. I bought that and a bottle of kombucha and a can of pop. Bill came to $18 and change. I thought that was expensive. I paid and went to get my drink and she called me back to say she made a billing mistake, no apology, and I owed another $3!!!! That's outrageous...I think the hot choc/espresso cost $11.... Barista made the drink and I went to take a sip and she said, "You have to stir it" . I am regular retirn customer of this Aroma Espresso Bar since 2019, but there was always customer service problems from the start, and at this time, 2026, I am mentally forced to keep away, to avoid being prejudged by the employees who work here. Almost always, if not 100% always, I ask for fresh coffee, but they serve me a lukewarm old coffee from the bottom of the cup. Not only that, but the employees appear puzzled and sarcastic at myself. The moment I come to the customer service desk, I note an angry facial expressions and teeth that demonstrate jealousy. I am obviously an immigrant, but I live in Canada 47 years, that is longer than some of those employees being alive. I will never surrender my personal dignity to the debsucherous perception of myself that come out from their facial expression. There is only one good person, a shift supervisor, young woman of Asian descent, who always provides me with fresh coffee and corrects the attitudes of the other employees. The latest incident that occurred recently was when a tattooed employee, young woman, reacted angrily and violently when I told her that the coffee she sold me was cold... and she refused to give me a fresh cup of coffee. Luckily the supervisor has interrupted the service and provided me eith fresh coffee. There is slso a nose pierced employee who yawned at me with her mouth widely opened, but when I told her thst she is rude the womsn hasn't apologized. This happened three years ago, and she still shows contempt towards myself. The environment at this restaurant is contagious and gossip polluted, and it is impossible yo be the customer. Those women treat the locals with genuine respect, but they see myself awkwardly because they perceive me as being an immigrant and they are jealous. read more

I'm an Aroma fan primarily for their coffees and good amount of breakfast/lunch options. This location is right on Yonge in the heart of midtown. Food (4/5) - pretty consistent across all Aroma and had the individual chicken avocado sandwich and it was as expected. Service (0/5) - this is a larger than average location in a busier than average neighborhood. Seriously understaffed with one cashier, one cook and one other doing bussing and coverage. Took 20 mins to get a single sandwich and I wasn't the only one frustrated waiting. I don't blame the cashier she was busting her ass taking orders, checking for orders and filling coffee orders. However one cook in the back is ridiculous. I blame the owners for understaffing and based on the many other reviews of this location this is not something new. Atmosphere (4/5) - this is one of the nicest aroma locations... outdoor patio with umbrellas and fair amount of tables inside too. Overall (2/5) - I'm not coming back to this location again. Ordered a kale portobello salad from UberEats, and was sorely disappointed by the quality. The greens in my salad were completely wilted and yellow. It was terrible, and half my salad was inedible. Aroma on Rutherford-We enjoyed the coffee and sweets we have for many years in Aroma. On Sunday we were very disappointed getting coffee in small disposable cups. And girl that made it was very unpleasant saying we don't use regular cups. All this is coming to very opposite experience we had day before. The guy made coffee in coloured cups and was very polite .My husband said that he wouldn't be visiting the Rutherford Aroma any more. read more

A qualified 4 stars based on the fact that it's been some time since I last came to this location .. Also, in relation to other locations of this chain. I'd say it's a lot like the Panera chain in general, except that there is a lot more variability between locations with Aroma Espresso. (Panera also offers a lot more as a bakery for takeaway breads and pastries but since I only do dine-in, neither here nor there in terms of my rating.) On the whole, AE is pricier than your average takeout coffee/food place, especially when you consider that, when it comes to food, it's a cafeteria style setup where you have to wait for your order and bring it to your table. The ingredients are fresh and the quality is pretty good, but it's a lot of money for a lunch option when you consider that it's that style of service. The portions are decent, at least. Having said that, I was a regular at this location for over about a 2 year period and I always loved my experience here. The location in the corner of the building afforded a large indoor area AND outdoor patio space as well. The selection of seats indoors ranged from basic tables and chairs to comfier booths, which always made it nicer for the extended stays on weekend afternoons when a friend and I would come in for a game of Scrabble. I never, ever won .. but I won't take that out on the venue :) Although I found the prices a bit on the premium end, I did appreciate that the staff were always efficient. I never got a rude or dismissive attitude and the condiments area was always well maintained. In spite of the fact that I had to pay extra for flavour shots, which I don't even really enjoy more than when you have the brewed flavour offerings at other places, I found the range of coffee condiments i.e. everything from skim to 18% milk, raw sugar, honey, etc., and the piece of chocolate, to be a fair offset. I also liked how they offer a range of takeout AND "to stay" size mugs, with saucers. Now when I go to any other Aroma Espresso location, this location is more or less the golden standard - I've never found any other of the locations I've hit, to be quite as good or better than this one. read more

Over the years I've gained an appreciation for Aroma and the food they serve. It's a much better alternative to Timmy's or Starbucks. For a chain of cafes, the quality and variety of their food are top-notch IMHO. I'd recommend checking out their avocado sandwich + lentil soup combo. The coffee drinks are all excellent at this Israeli cafe. Hot outside? Definitely try the "Iced Aroma"...it's like a Timmy's iced capp but on CRACK. Amazing. Feel like a hot sandwich? Their steak sandwich is seriously delicious...thinly sliced steak with roasted peppers and cheese. Really good. I get this sandwich with white bread but in fact ALL the bread at Aroma (multi and whole wheat) is of exceptional quality. Note: a half sandwich at Aroma may be enough if you're only feeling marginally hungry. If you're really hungry, the all-day power breakfasts are a good choice...two eggs, cream cheese, chopped Israeli salad (cucumber, tomato, etc), olives and of course their famous bread. For lighter fare, the aroma salad with tuna and/or feta is great too. The tuna here isn't creamy or mayonnaisey, it's healthier and quite light and tasty. Red lentil soup, excellent. I consider myself polite as I work in customer service and know how customers can be rude, but last time I went I ordered sandwich (not even toasted, dry with no seasonings by the way). I ask for knife and fork to eat with, and the asian lady refused to give it to me "because we don't provide cutlery for sandwich menu". So I pay too expensive for half of a sandwich, and I'm not allowed to get a fork ? Same thing with water. After I insisted, she gave up, and gave me one fork. Amazing customer service. I stopped into this Aroma location with a friend before a movie at the nearby Cineplex. I ordered an iced mocha but, upon learning Aroma doesn't offer this, the barista suggested I get the Ice Aroma. This is a blended ice drink with espresso and a little chocolate. Not too sweet which I like, but very rich and creamy. By the time I was finished I no longer had any room for the movie popcorn I had planned on getting. Probably for the best, really. My friend ordered the Ice Aroma Light and felt way less full. Something to consider for my next visit I suppose. This location has a nice patio with lots of seating and shade and even a little water fountain wall. But, being located right at the corner of Yonge and Eglinton, its charm is diminished by the ongoing (never ending?) construction happening at this intersection. read more

Nothing wrong with this place, I just find it overpriced. Had a nice cheese roll, which they warmed up and a small coffee and it came to $5.30. That's way too expensive for a "light" breakfast. I can get a banana loaf and a much larger coffee at Starbucks for $4.60 or so and I really don't like Starbucks all that much so when I am paying them a compliment, then something must be wrong. I've seen the prices for the breakfasts and their sandwiches and a 1/2 sandwich is like $5 to $6, while a full sandwich is $8 to $10 (power breakfast is 9.95) and that's way too much for a chain coffee shop. However, the coffee did taste good and they have nice couches and HAD a nice patio (currently under renovation), but it's still expensive. I only went here because I was too lazy to walk out of the building to go to Tim's, Starbucks or McDonalds in the morning. The only real bright side is that it's connected to the subway. read more

If you are looking to grab brunch somewhere where you can avoid the usual hussle and bussle, this is your spot. The service is really good. Bus boys come and clear dishes off of tables promptly and the staff is very accommodating. I love their Chai latte and Shakshouka. This morning I paid almost $9.00 for a medium coffee and Egg & Cheese Croissant. The coffee was mediocre, there was coffee grinds at the bottom. The croissant was super oily, the grease stained the paper bag and eating it was a mess. For those who are not ordering to-go, there is a nice patio outside and they offer free WiFi. It can get really busy during lunch time, so it might be hard to even get a seat. I heard they have amazing salads, but never tried it myself. Overall, the variety in their menu is pretty broad. Service is only good when they aren't busy. There's free lemon water for those waiting for their order. Their condiments table is usually stocked up with honey, sugar water, brown sugar, splenda, whole/skim milk or cream, cinnamon powder...etc. If you're lazy like me (at times) to walk across the street to Tim Hortons or Starbucks, this pricey alternative is A-OK. read more

As Nicole said, the service is a bit wonky. Got my chai latte made with milk, instead of soy as I had requested, and subsequently had to stand and wait for it to be fixed. Another woman noticed that a customer that arrived later got served before her and began to complain. The barista tried hard not to admit his mistake and told her that he was making it soon. Thank goodness she refrained from starting a screaming match. My drink however, tasted like over-sugared stale water sprinkled with spice. Aroma is a really great alternative to something like Starbucks- you're feeling some failsafe coffee without any 'tude. Trust me, no 'tude here whatsoever. I'd been to the Bloor location before but this time I got a different drink and a sandwich so I figure that merits a fresh review. Drink: Iced coffee! If it was warmer outside, I would have enjoyed this even more. It's exactly what it sounds like, coffee on ice. But the coffee was good and came in a cup that was basically spill-proof. Every drink gets a little chocolate! I'm still not over this. Sandwich: Woah. That was delicious and healthy too! They MUST bake their own bread in house because it was so fresh-tasting and fluffy. When I first picked it up I thought all the fillings would fall through! But it held up nicely. I got the half-portion and it filled me up just the right amount. For just 4.35 plus tax, it was a portabello mushroom sandwich with feta, sun-dried tomato paste, bean sprouts and basil. Ah, so good! The middle, the crust, every part. Service: Such nice people, they come around and pick up your used dishes when you're done like at a restaurant. The only weird part is when it comes to picking up the food and drink they call you're name and you come up. Well, that would work perfectly if the guy did not mumble too close to the microphone and made names audible. Also, how hard is the name "Danielle"? It's clearly not, "Daniel". Most of the food Aroma serves is quite good, albeit a little overpriced. It's awesome to have a cafe that serves authentic Middle Eastern and Greek food. They also have a very friendly staff. Moreover, the seating and general atmosphere is nice. Other than being a tad bit overpriced, Aroma's only other problem, from my point of view, is that they have a too limited menu of drinks to choose from. This is especially true for me, since their more interesting coffee drinks don't have the option of coming in decaf. Overall though, if you're looking for a nice cafe to sit down in, this place sure beats Starbucks and most Second Cups. read more

I was actually surprised how much I liked this place. Walking past this, and the Bloor st location, it always seemed too much like a fast food joint. The plastic chairs, and the guy calling out your orders. That being said, it doesn't really have that vibe once you've ordered, and you have your coffee and food, and you can relax.
