This was my first time ever trying Aroy-D Thai Cuisine and it certainly did not disappoint! Portions were surprisingly large and definitely big enough to share with another person or to have leftovers for yourself if you don't have a huge appetite. I tried their Fresh Chilies Stir Fried with beef (it also comes with a side of Jasmine Rice). I went with the spiciest they could make; "Native Hot" is what they call it here. It definitely was spicy and sinus clearing, but not as tear jerking as I've received at Thai Khao Kaeng Express and Pizzeria in Roy. (I do have an abnormally high tolerance to spice though, so it definitely could be an individual problem.. lol). I also ordered their Crab Cheese Wonton appetizer and good Lord, hands down, these were the most stuffed wontons that I have ever had! Insanely delicious, cooked perfectly, and just exploding with cream cheese and crab upon first bite. They also came with a side of sweet chili sauce, but they're so flavorful, you honestly might not even need the sauce. Yum! Last was the Thai Iced Coffee (they give you a choice of it being made with either milk or cream). I went with cream, and it was rich, flavorful, and oh so filling that I almost forgot to eat the the food that I ordered ;+) I absolutely 100% recommend Aroy-D Thai on 12th Street in Ogden. Met up with some friends for dinner here after seeing all the positive reviews but we were disappointed with the food. We order a bunch of items to share and my husband (who is Thai) wanted to see how they all compared to other Thai places we've visited. The chicken satay was chewy and a little sad to look at. The papaya salad was also chewy and didn't have the sharp acidic and spicy flavor of other versions of it. The larb was just okay and could have been a little spicier. The best thing we ate was the chicken pineapple curry. The curry had a good flavor. My husband and one of our friends had the very large Thai teas and mentioned that they were quite sweet and caused a bit of a tummy ache. Overall, we weren't impressed by the food, and the folks who took care of us were kind. read more

We were headed back towards Salt Lake City from an excursion to the northwest. It was beyond lunchtime on a Saturday when we arrived in Ogden. Our hosts had been wanting to try this (to them) new Thai place, so we met up with them here. The restaurant is within a half mile of I-15. It is in a small plaza with a couple of other businesses, including a furniture store. There seemed to be ample parking. The interior space is one large dining room. From what I could tell it appeared to be popular with locals. We ordered a variety of dishes (noodles, curry, chicken) at various spice levels. The servers were helpful. It did not take long for the dishes to start coming out. We shared some of the dishes and what I tried was uniformly good. I think I got a curry and enjoyed it. Others seemed to like their food as well. I think we had some leftovers which we ate the next day as well. We went on a Wed and entered a completely empty restaurant to the point we needed to check if the restaurant was even open. I say this because if it was busy we could be more understanding. Food: The chicken basil came out late and overly salty. When we told them that A) it was too salty and B) it came out late and we wanted to cancel it. They said no. If we ordered it we had to take it home. Ok fine. But then they took the food to the back and didn't fix it. They just it boxed up so almost as if they hid the fact that they didn't bother fixing it. The sad thing is our last visit the food was great. We ended up ordering 5 dishes only to trash them as the food was inedible. Service: OMG the service was atrocious that too for an EMPTY restaurant. The lady with short hair and glasses seemed to be doing us a favor (the only people in the restaurant) by serving us. She was cleaning in one corner of the restaurant and when we asked for help she yelled in a rude manner "what do you want" again last time we were here the servers were kind and it was on a busy Friday. But this kind of behavior was unacceptable for an EMPTY dead restaurant on a Wed. I'm not from here we were visiting and we were hoping to keep being a repeat but absolutely not. That first time seemed to be the only good experience. They need to figure out their food and more importantly service. read more

Visiting here and came across this little gem. It's in a tiny area and is easy to miss. It's next to a furniture place in the corner. It's a small place with a few tables. We came for dinner so there were a few parties here but got seated right away and the food came out quick and priced reasonably. We ordered: - chicken satay, which had 4 skewers, peanut sauce and cucumbers 7/10 - beef salad. The dressing was delicious and it had lots of beef 10/10 - Mussaman curry 8/10 - Pad Thai with chicken. I was seated quickly and the restaurant is small and cozy. I ordered beef drunken noodles at medium spice. I was happy with the spice level and my nose felt the impact. These weren't the best noodles I've ever had, there was a weird sweetness in them and they put bamboo shoots and corn in them, which I was willing to try but wasn't my thing. Well kinda spoiled by Hawaii and other areas of the world when it comes to Thai food so lets just say that they make some ok dishes kinda skewed to a more general caucasian palate as every dish i ordered was just ok but nothing that WoW'd my taste buds to want more! So lets go into just a bit of detail here. Thai fried rice - hmm kinda mushy but maybe it was the tomatoes that dis that. Perhaps some Thai basil instead n the pre packaged shredded chicken in clumps is kinda lazy. On a scale of 1-10 it was a 4. Pad Thai - kinda small portions for the price point and just so plain jane with little bit of everything n the same chicken as the fried rice. On a scale of 1-10 it was probably a 5. Egg Rolls vegi- once again they looked pretty n were decent size but vegi filing was almost like eating bean sprouts n cabbage. Rate of 5. Drunken noodles- second worst ive ever had and i eat this dish a lot mostly at Lao restaurants! Gave it a try n it just looked n tasted bad. Rate of 3! Chicken Satay - well they used the same chicken just put it on a stick this time so it wasn't anything special so i give it a 6. Overall service was kinda off as they had my takeout order ready n were nice until i didnt tip the cc receipt as the cashier kinda turned off her personality n just took the receipt n walked away with no "thank you or any kind of upsell/retention effort for future business "! Read the reviews and decided to give them a try for lunch when we arrived, there were several full tables but no one to seat us. After a few minutes, someone came from the kitchen and seated us. This place is not that large but is ample. My wife ordered the chicken satay and I went with their lunch combo that includes any two items from the menu. I had red cur the stir fried meat with oyster sauce. Portion sizes are very small. Two small bowls and a cup of rice. Mine came with soup which I had to ask for as they forgot it. The flavors were very good and my wife ate most of my curry. Was it great, no! Just average. But still good. Will have to give them a try for dinner sometime. read more

The best Thai food in Ogden. Period. I regularly have work visitors from out of town and always bring them here for lunch. Specials are very fairly priced and come with choice of two dishes, salad/soup and egg rolls. I've tried at least 5-6 dishes and haven't been disappointed yet. These are my favorite Drunken Noodles Statewide by far. Then why only 3 stars? A lunch order of the noodles on the website is $10. When I showed up to get them, they charged me $13. With tax, over $14. The first time I just paid the $14. This time I asked about it. The girl helping me pulled up the dinner menu and showed me it said $13. I showed her the lunch menu said $10. (I was there at 12:30 PM). She went in the back and talked to someone. When she came out, she said it is $13 or they will just cancel my order, that they haven't updated the website. The last time when I just paid it was over 4 months ago. It's lazy to not update the webpage in that amount of time, and it's poor customer service to not honor the price online. It's ALSO hard to justify a $14 lunch. I guess I'll have to find another place that makes comparable Drunken Noodles. Any suggestions? read more

The only dish that I've ever had here is the Pad Thai, so I'm not sure if I can really give that deep of a review however, their pad Thai is amazing. The service is great. As busy and swamped as they can get, everyone still manages to smile and conduct themselves in a professional and polite manner. The diner is always very clean and always smells really good. Food has always been ready on time and overall a great place. I hate the location but I'm sure they do as well. If they were located somewhere different, I might've heard about them years ago. With everything said, I always try to tell everyone I know about how great it is there. I am certain that I will be a regular until they close the doors which I hope is never. One last thing. If you decide to get the Pad Thai, please understand that spice level six is no joke and if you are not a spicy food enthusiast, then the level six will probably ruin it for you so I would recommend the level 4 if you are a normal person . If you are a freak like me and you can handle spice the the level six is that one to get. This was my first time at this restaurant and it did not disappoint!! My family has been several times and recommended it highly. We went in knowing what we wanted and we started with the egg rolls and the dipping sauce was great! We had a side salad and I loved their dressing. What blew my mind was their Coconut Chicken Soup- I have never liked sweat and salty but this was phenomenal! To my dismay they were out of the Massamun Curry so we went with the next best thing, the Pad Thai and that was good. The favorite thing I ate had to be the Mango Sticky Rice! Tried the mild basil stir fried chicken, mild garlic stir fried chicken and the chicken pad Thai w medium spice. Everything was cooked to order and still steaming upon picking it up. The flavors were great! The only thing I wish is that the medium spice has a little more heat- but I know next time I'll try hot. Really hate to be this guy, but our visit was a complete let down. I have been to Aroy-D several times in past and always found the food and service to be good. On this last visit, the disappointment was plenty and honestly... I share this review as courtesy to both the reader and owner(s). I am not sure what the heck was happening the night we visited, but the flies throughout the restaurant was impossible to ignore. House flies are a part of life. Not a big deal. However, the amount was insane. Making it worse, was the staff walking around with fly swatters, to cure the problem. The issue is... 1.) you really shouldn't be swatting flies next to those dining. 2.) once you do kill a fly on the wall and table, you should sanitize the area where the flies were killed. Sorry, but this is absolutely disgusting and it literally ruined my appetite. Several guest that were sitting near us were equally disturbed and one table actually stood up and left, prior to ordering. In addition, the food servers that were killing flies would literally put down the swatter and then attend to the guests. No hand washing? Handling to-go orders, refilling waters, etc. The food we ordered was just okay. My dish was warm at best and had very little flavor. Portions are still very generous and the staff was friendly. It very well could be an anomaly and chalked up to a bad night. However, I have always tried to keep my reviews honest and committed to be transparent. Aroy-D... you are so much better than this.
