I found that one of Village Medical's doctors was covered, so I booked an appointment. When I looked up the exact address afterward, I was confused that it was the same address as a Walgreen's. After doing some research, I found out that Walgreen's owns Village Medical, and their offices are located within Walgreen's building (though not at all Walgreen's locations). That concerned me at first. I thought I'd be seeing a doctor in a small cubicle in the middle of a pharmacy (in the kind of cubicle where they give Covid injections and other vaccines). That was not the case at all! When you walk into the store, that particular location has an enclosed foyer with 2 separate entrances into the store or the clinic. The clinic and waiting room are actually quite large and it doesn't seem at all like what I had envisioned. Phew! They have several doctors, physicians assistants and I think a nurse practitioner on staff. It's difficult switching to a different PCP, but Dr. Richards made me feel at ease immediately. He's very kind and caring. I had no issues getting all my prescriptions transfered over to him. Village Medical even has an app that allows you to request refills and book appointments. If you decide to call to request any of that, you'll reach Village Medical's main line, and not the number of the specific clinic you go to. But even that isn't a bad experience. Just know that it can take about 3 days to get a prescription refill request approved. No big deal.

Provider (Jennifer Abalos) makes you feel rushed, does not listen to the patient's concerns, and told patient that because they did not have typical symptoms that she was sure I did not have the medical issue. Upon gently requesting for the testing it was discovered that I did have the medical issue. The group does not allow you to call directly to the office, but forces all patients through a call center (was not aware of this until after becoming a patient). Any communication you have has to go through the message system in the app and there is not timely follow up.

The doc comes out to get you and sits with you and REALLY listens to you. He's personable and caring. I never feel rushed or like I'm wasting his time. He's very contemporary and up to date on the latest trends and technology in medicine. He's very low key and calm. His staff is very friendly and super helpful in all things from making appts over the phone to discussing your insurance benefits so you understand them. I know they have other practitioners (chiropractic care is available) but I've only seen the doctor. I can't really complain about that. Oh and they have a CRYO chamber. I haven't tried it but I may.....check them out if you are looking for a new doc. You won't be sorry!!!!

Unfortunately, there was a suicide on the high five that shut down Hwy 75 below, backing up traffic for well over an hour. I called 20 minutes before my appointment and explained that I would be there about 4:05 but that I had already completed my paperwork in advance. I was told that it would be ok so I proceeded to the appointment. When I arrived at 4:07, though, I was told that I would have to reschedule. I reiterated that I had called in advance because there had been a suicide on the highway and that it wouldn't be easy for me to take off work again, however the receptionist was unsympathetic and told me it was already 4:15, but her clock must have been fast. I asked for my paperwork back and let her know that I would have to find another Cardiologist. It is a shame that they turned away a patient who was complaining of chest pain for being two minutes too late and that more consideration wasn't given for the highly special circumstances that backed up thousands of commuters today. I guess that, because I was probably the last patient of the day, they just wanted to go home early. :(

I am a nurse, and when I discussed it with the doctors I work with they urged me to pursue it through a specialist. I ended up needing major abdominal surgery, and she totally missed it. I started looking for another doc but wasn't pushing too hard. Now I am waiting in her office for another appointment for a maintenance medication. She is 30 minutes behind schedule, and as soon as I finish writing this review I am going to walk out. The wait isn't worth it for care that is just barely acceptable. ETA: she knew I was walking out and didn't ask to speak to me. This is how much personal care and interest she takes in her patients. Buyer beware.
