My 12 year old daughter woke up at 6am feeling sick. I went online to book her an appointment & got one for 9:06am. (3 hours later). Arrived 10-15 minutes early like they said and the digital sign said we had a 0-15 min wait, while the 2 walk ins had 15-25 minutes each. All listed on the board. Well they took one of the walk ins while we were waiting there & the board kept saying 0-15 minutes for about 45 minutes. Then we finally were brought back into the room where a nurse took her vitals. It's now 10:30am and the doctor has finally come to look at her. He seems quite concerned and caring. He seems thorough. Just an hour and a half late! She is missing school and I am missing work for this. It's a Carolinas Healthcare facility & CHS also owns her primary care pediatric office. Yet they acted like they had no information on her?? Until I reminded them her records should be in the system, then miraculously they found out they knew her results from the pediatrician office. Sickening! I won't be back. Time to try Novant facilities instead of CHS.

My doctors office is closed, and I never get sick, so I knew this was bad....this is where the local CVS Minute Clinic comes in. I didn't feel like driving to Urgent Care where there are usually long wait, forget the ER, i'll give CVS a try. When I got there I found a "check-in" kiosk back by the pharmacy, where I input all my information, (name, dob, etc...) Someone in a white coat walked by quickly with cleaning supplies and let me know they would be with me as soon as she had finished cleaning the other room. So they have 2 exam rooms, there was no one there, and no wait. So far, so good. I was called in within 5 minutes. Learned the woman cleaning the rooms was a MD. Usually these are staffed by Nurse Practitioners, or Physician Assistants, but I guess I got lucky! Anyways, described my symptoms, she looked at me, asked if I had gotten a flu shot, I replied proudly " Nope! Never had the flu in my life", later learning I was an idiot. Ran the test, which consisted of sticking a pipe cleaner like instrument up my nose until it tickled my brain. Stuck it in a machine, 6 mintues later, yup, you have the flu. Got my prescription, which could be filled 5 feet away. With my insurance it only ended up costing me $10 plus my meds!! Overall great experience, the Dr. was super friendly and very personable. Total time in and out was less than 20 minutes. Hopefully I don't have to, but I would come back if I ever needed to!

Sorry, this is not a good story. I made an appointment for 10am on Easter. I was displaying all…read moreof the symptoms of the flu and wanted confirmation from your urgent care office. I showed up on time and was pulled back at 10:05. She did my vitals and asked a couple questions, then told me there were three providers and it wouldnt be long. I waited 35 minutes until a provider showed up. He didnt introduce himself. I asked him about the wait, and he seemed to get upset by me asking about the wait. He asked me a couple questions and I answered. He felt my head and my neck and asked if I had any trouble breathing, and I told him no. He was in the room for approximately 4 to 5 minutes. He told me he was getting some info and a prescription and left. He returned in about 10 minutes and handed me a stack of papers and told me I had viral syndrome, he had prescribed a codeine liquid for me. I asked if he was going to do a flu test for me, and he said no as he was ushering me out the door. That day and night my symptoms got worse. The medicine upset my stomach so I didn't get much sleep. The next day my wife was not feeling well, and she came home from work. We both were pretty bad. She went to a different urgent care in Monroe NC (Not CMC based on my experience above). They quickly tested her for flu and it came back positive. Two hours later my daughters school called, she had a 102.5 fever and must be picked up. She also tested positive for flu. My brother and his 9 month old child also tested positive for flu. All of the people in my family that went to an urgent care office got a flu test except me. All of them got the exact same prescription, Tamiflu...except me. I was upset with the providers actions in the room and now more upset that his actions might have caused others to get sick. My wife heard "viral symptoms" and went off to Easter. If she had heard flu from me, it would have been different. Tuesday night I got a call from the Urgent Car office....For a follow up survey. I let them know I was not happy with the care I received and I wanted to talk to someone about it and had interest in seeking a refund for my office visit as I didn't receive the care I needed, as evident by the actions of three other providers for people in my family with the same symptoms. I ended up getting a call from Stephanie Helms on Wednesday and she took some info from me. She let me know she would check with Dr. Griggs about the care. She reported back a couple hours later and let me know the care I got was sufficient....I very much disagree and want my money back. I requested to speak to Dr. Griggs. I had to call back on Thursday and left a message for Stephanie as I had not heard back from anyone. Dr. Griggs called back and went over my visit. I learned that he was not happy with the care I received and told me the same. I learned that the provider (I learned his name is Antoine Carey) wrote that he listened to my lungs (he didn't) and looked in my ears (he didn't). Dr. Griggs tried to explain that away saying that they have templates in there head for what happened during a visit and may have wrote it down wrong. He told me he would email Scarlet (didn't get her last name) and Mike Staples to let them know the care I got was not great. He also said he would talk to Thomas Childs about Antoine's actions. About 2 hours after my call with Dr. Griggs, I called Stephanie back and again asked for a refund. She told me no again, but I found out she had not yet talked to Dr. Griggs. She called me back a little while later to tell me that they would not refund my money for the visit. I asked to speak to Scarlet, and she refused to let me. I asked for her email address, she refused to give it to me. I asked for Scarlet's email address, she refused to give it to me. I asked he what recourse I had in this as I feel I didn't get what I paid for. She told me tough luck, CMC calls that good enough care, we are not going to change our minds. I asked her about Antoine adding false information in my chart, and she couldn't even respond. This is nuts. Dr. Griggs told me they would council Antoine Carey about the visit...So they see an issue with the visit, but wont refund any money....Nice! I was asking for my $30 co-pay back based a sub-par office visit that ANYONE would have been upset with given the outcome. Dealing with this office was just terrible. I still want my $30 back and will continue to ask people to take action on this, but so far I have not had any luck.

This location is very convenient to downtown Matthews off of Sam Newell and it is in a relatively new building complex. The traffic on Sam Newell and hwy 51 can/will back up, but luckily Matthews drivers are pretty friendly and will let you make a turn in while you are waiting in the dedicated turn lane. The Urgent Care entrance is on the other side of the building (furthest away from the parking lot entrance) so all you have to do is drive around. You are greeted pretty warmly and the front desk gets all your paper work and information, does an initial set of questions to ask why you are there. I am always weary about telling people how I feel in front of complete strangers, but luckily there was no one in the waiting room so I told her about my sore throat and how it was getting increasingly difficult to swallow. No waiting... since the UC was basically dead, I was called in, my vitals were taken, and the physician assistant attending did an exam. I was basically in and out in about 20min with some antibiotic scripts. People were super nice and their bedside manner was very good. Even had a few laughs since I don't visit the UC regularly and I had a bunch of rudimentary questions.
