We usually avoid staying at Wyndham properties because we often get pulled into timeshare or upsell conversations, and unfortunately that happened again this time just when calling to confirm our reservation and request early check-in. I called multiple times about early check-in and got a different answer each time. We did end up being able to check in early the same day, but it cost an extra $60. They also mentioned we were the only guests requesting it, which felt a bit odd. The water park was a highlight our kids had a great time. The only downside is that the water is freezing and there's a noticeable cold draft throughout the area. Our room was spacious and worked really well for our family of five. Wi-Fi was spotty, but the TVs were nice. Overall, some frustrations, but the space and water park kept the stay enjoyable for the kids. read more

We had a nice room; there was barely any shampoo and body wash in the shower. We had a birthday party and a lot of children. The pool needed 2 or more life guards vs one (the life guard had ear buds in & rarely left the chair-not a safe position)! We wanted to order food later to the room but was told the restaurant could not make any food. The breakfast was so so. I recommend the pool area be inspected and get more information about the limitations of the restaurant and why we could not get room service based on the menu included in the room. read more

A very run down hotel. I had to come in for a conference and didn't have many options. The front desk experience is an absolute train wreck. I stood there for 15 minutes while the front desk took a call from a "potential future booking" and discussed all things water park. I was finally acknowledged only to find out my room (a few minutes before 4pm) wasn't ready. I asked for an alternate room and she said no, we have nothing yet cleared by housekeeping. The hotel is in need of a major deep clean. The bathrooms are small and dingy, towels thin, and products terrible. Don't get me started on the thin sheets. I had another date booked at the Arrowwood Lodge for a conference in October and I promptly cancelled. There aren't many options on the Brainerd/Baxter area, but this place isn't it! read more

We stayed here for the weekend and came for a "staycation" and for the waterpark. Pictures on the website of the waterpark are not current. Overall, the hotel was average/okay. The rooms were average. Some cosmetic things that could be addressed. No fans in the bathrooms. Beds were noisy and not very comfortable. It was nice to have a smart TV in the room so we could watch youtube and netflix. There was also a nice variety of cable channels. The water park is pretty small. I remember coming here as a kid and there was much more to do there back then then there is now. They took out the bigger playset and put in a much smaller one. Not a lot to do for toddlers/smaller kids who can't go in the lazy river or big waterslides yet. The door to get to the outdoor part of the hot tub was closed due to ice which was a bummer, you had to swim under the gate to get out there. The continental breakfast was pretty good. The arcade games are a total rip off and the prizes are horrid for the prices of the games. $1.50 to play the crane machine and not win a ball. Between our group we spent well over $100 in the arcade and $40+ on the crane machine trying to win our daughter a ball for the pool and got NOTHING. The balls cost maybe .10 cents and every other crane machine ive used, you are pretty much guaranteed a ball every few times you play. So that was pretty disappointing. Id skip the arcade next time. The staff were all great. We ordered pizzas from the bar which were good, would have been much better if there was a noticeable amount of sauce on them. My husband went down to the waterpark to get ice cream and waited for 20 minutes and ended up having to ask a life guard for service at the snack bar. The staff in the waterpark were pretty chill which is nice not constantly getting whistled at. Overall our stay was okay/average. Would we specifically come back to this hotel? No, probably not. Nothing significant enough to make us come back here. There are much larger waterparks out there with lots more to do for the kiddos. read more

Room was okay. Bed was really comfy. negatives: dead bugs on window sill (no deep cleaning happening), sticky candy ground into carpet, sheets so thin you can see through them, front desk had a few very 'I-can't-be-bothered types', waterpark needed a good vacuuming in the pools, lifeguards were on their phones. Check if there are school-age teams or groups there. We had a dance group there and the hotel did very little to help keep them quiet and out of the halls aside from saying their coaches know and it's almost lights out. The hotel cared infinitely more for the teens than other paying guests. Will not visit them again. read more

not disabled friendly if you have a service dog. didn't want to allow my husband & i to have our service in the room since it wasn't a designated pet room. never has issues anywhere else before. front desk said we had to push a pet room on our hotels.com booking, but that charges you a pet fee & service dogs are exempt from any fees!! the guy asked what they're jobs are & required certification papers before giving us our keys. despite it being illegal federally & by mn state law and american disabilities act, i provided him the information & was charged $100 before being given the keys. worse service ever, contacting lawyer & reporting the hotel to mn department of human rights!! read more

Waited over 30 minutes for someone to check us in. We had to go find the front desk person. Hallway smells like wet dog. Room had suckers stuck to the carpet. Front desk guy was less than helpful. We went near the end of March on a Sunday. So the place was only 25 percent full and so not very crowded or noisy. We did notice that we could hardly hear when people were in the hall so the sound proofing seem good. The rooms were a nice size and clean. The water park was great for our small kids 2 and 4. There was also a large slide for older kids. The water was about skin temperature and so very comfortable. The hot tub was very large and not overly warm. The breakfast was OK. No real hot food but packed food you could microwave. Apples and oranges were available. Overall service was good and everyone there moved out of the way to let guests pass. The one down side was that the attached restaurant was not open. Not sure because of Sunday or lack of guests. But we found the nearby Tap House very good. read more

We listened to drunk people from 9pm until after midnight. Obviously this kept my very small children awake. I finally went to my car to grab a different paci for my son, and the lady at the front desk WOULDNT LET ME GO TO MY CAR. Apparently someone finally made a noise complaint about said drunk people and their bratty kids, and she blamed me. The lady wouldn't believe me it wasn't us. Which eventually ticked me off, since my toddler was upset and I couldn't help my husband because I was too busy arguing. She repeatedly asked me why we didn't call and make a noise complaint if it wasn't us. Well, Again, I have two small kids I was trying to console. The waterpark was small, the pictures were very deceiving. it had no towels, and was clearly over serving people. Kids throwing balls at each other, hitting strangers with them. Kids swimming and running into people. Lifeguards said nothing, and the parents were too drunk to have a clue what was going on. The elevators were sketchy, making noise, shaky, just garbage. I'd never go back, there's nothing family friendly about this place. I've never seen kids allowed to run in a water park around the pool or shove each other under. Rooms were clean but staff was incredibly rude. Save your money. Definitely better hotels. read more

Arrowwood Lodge in Baxter, Mn is a great family vacation site. Service was excellent, front desk professional and efficient. Housekeeping did an excellent job, very helpful and friendly. Maintenance was extremely helpful, friendly and professional. Rooms, Arcade, Waterpark all were very clean. We had 11 - 16-year-olds with us and they had an awesome time with plenty of activities (Arcade, waterpark, zipline, volleyball) to keep them entertained. Adults had great time also. Called for check in and was hung up on. Front desk clerk at check in was foul and not kind. The bed was horrible. Kids running up and down the hall. 2 stars only because the check out counter person was kind, helpful, unbelievably sweet and cared for her residents with care. We stayed at the hotel to go to the water park and have a little family get away on a long weekend. The room was decent but the bedding for the pull out sofa bed was not adequate. Only had one very flat pillow. The check in was poor and had to wait past 4 pm check in as the rooms weren't clean and ready. Front desk staff were not the most friendly. The pool was overcrowded and so strong of chlorine we couldn't stay longer than an hour as our eyes were burning. The life guard was not helpful and was not making sure people were staying safe. Swim at your own risk. They also had very little amount of tubes and had to wait long and couldn't go down the slide more than once with how long you had to wait to get a tube. The really frustrating part was getting my credit card statement and seeing a charge for having more people then what you had on the reservation. The room was for 6 people and was big enough for our family of six. They changed an extra $15 for each of my kids. This was not on the booking site as I had a promotion and used through a third party. I was also not informed of this at check in. When they asked for a card they stated it was for incidentals. Not once was I informed they would charge for having more people then on the reservation. When I called to discuss this charge they were very rude. This should be something that is told and agreed upon especially when not booking through their site. read more

Maybe this hotel was great at one point. But the only pros to this hotel were the size of the rooms and the arcade prices. having a "living room" type set up, and adjoining rooms was nice when we went with our friends. We were able to put our kids to bed, and still hang out. Other than that, the beds were terrible, with sheets that are clearly very worn. The faucets on the shower would only switch half way, so the pressure for showers was awful. The arcade was also the best prices we've ever seen for those cards you load up, and how many "credits" each game cost. They also had great toddler games (however over half the games didn't work). This was our saving grace for how much time we DIDN'T spend in the waterpark. The water park was one of the worst we've been too, and the main problem was the chlorine. It was very evident that there is no staff hired specifically to monitor chemical levels. The chlorine levels were far too high, and we could tell by all of the excessive coughing, rashes, burning skin feels our group had. It honestly felt as if it was at dangerous levels, as we all felt sick, until we left and were on our way home. I had a chemical smell in my nose for a whole day after we had left. Besides the obvious health risks, the main picture on the Arrowwood website of their waterpark includes a toddler type slide area/stairs, and the dumping water bucket. THAT IS MISLEADING, because that is no longer there! My 4 year old often wanted to leave after only a short time because she was't feeling good, and the lack of things she was able to do. You would be better off (and healthier) saving some money and going to somewhere like Great Wolf Lodge, where you will be safer and healthier. read more

We tried calling several times about our reservation and left messages and no one would call back....I called 12 times the day of our reservation to get ahold of someone. We checked in and the room was freezing and the heat wouldn't work(while in Minnesota when the temperature outside is negative degrees)...we also went to the water park that was very small and had no towels for people to use. Woke up to a room that was super cold and no info in the room about the hotel, how to check out and any info on the restaurant. I suggest going to 3 bears because they have never disappointed us and always on top of customer service. This was a horrible stay. read more

Review for the Lodge Bar & Grill restaurant only. Three adults stopped for dinner as someplace new to try in Baxter. The porter from Insight Brewing I had provided strong distinct roasty taste with a pretty light body. Due to the lack of heaviness, it would make a good drink for a multi-hour gathering I think. Entrees were chicken marsala penne (which I had), shrimp tortellini, and the beet root salad with shrimp added to it. I was impressed by the buttery richness of the thick white sauce and the just right al dente texture of the pasta. The kitchen really hit the mark for execution on this dish. The only nit I would pick is that I would have preferred more of the shredded chicken in the dish. Nonetheless, it was a dish that tasted very good to me to the last bite. The others reported that the tortellini & beet salad were also tasty. Service was minimally sufficient, which is part of the loss of a star. I thought it lacking in friendliness or cordiality. It seemed to be someone doing their job, but not being very happy or excited about doing it. The other downside came from the ambience, which is perhaps unavoidable in an eatery attached to & associated with a water park hotel. Families & kids in swim wear entering/exiting the hotel side of the restaurant where we were seated detracted from the experience. Otherwise, the space was okay. Just okay; clean, not too loud for an open space, not dim or dingy, well enough maintaned. In spite of the food quality, not what I would consider for a date night out. Price was a touch over $80 for three beers and three dinner entrees. While that might seem a bit high for the area, I think the quality of the food we had & the availability of decent craft brews justify the price. Bottom Line: I would gladly eat at the Lodge Bar & Grill again, keeping expectations in line with the casual nature of the room. read more

Angie 1/5 a week ago on Google We stayed at the Arrowwood Lodge in Baxter MN on Sept 5th and 6th. When we got there, they said our rooms were not ready and we had to wait till 4:00 pm. to check in. I went back up to the counter at 4:00 pm our rooms were still not ready so we patiently waited. We finally got one room at 4:25 pm. And the other room at 4:50 pm almost an hour later after we were suppose to check in. When I called to make our reservations they said we could use my husbands Veterans card but, when we finally got to check in and handed it to the desk clerk she said we couldn't use it because my husband was NOT an Active Veteran. This was disappointing because they never told me this when I was making the reservation. When I checked out, I was charged for three nights instead of just the two nights. they got my confirmation mixed up with my sister-in-law's at checkout so I ended up paying for one of her night stays as well. When I talked to the manager before I left she said she didn't have time to check into this and I was to call her the next day , when I did call her she didn't have time to talk so I had to call her back at noon, when I did finally get to talk to her she was rude, and didn't believe what I was telling her. We are still trying to get this figured and out I have yet to be reimbursed. My husband and I were not happy with our stay and we will never be back. Angie read more

The lodge" (the restaurant) is a great way to exercise since it's all the way on the other side of the hotel, but save the legs. The food isn't worth it. It's like a poor substitute for Applebee's. They do give you a free drink ticket when you check in though... maybe to distract your tastebuds if you do decide to order a meal? There are no pools, or hot tubs open here during the week either. read more

The land fill is conveniently located a couple miles away from the lodge (my nephew was right!) and it looks even better than what the pictures showed. My husband and I spent a wonderful weekend getaway at the lodge and got the experience some of northern Minnesota's true culture at the landfill. This hotel hosts the north-central Tesla supercharger location and they do a horrendous job of plowing in and around the area of the stations. I have tried to engage these folks via Facebook and Google Reviews, and recently added another review via TripAdvisor. During the month of January 2019 there has been from 1-3 stations that are unusable with the other stations partially usable if you don't mind backing your car into the snowbank and crawling over the berm to get at the charging cable. read more

We have stayed here several times. Our children love the water park and arcade facilities. I love having the convenience of being able to have dinner there without dragging my kids out of the water. There are tables near the pool and ample seating. They even offer cocktails poolside! It's limited to a few okay wines, hard cider drinks and beer, but again - you do not have to leave the pool area and go to the bar/restaurant next door. The only disappointment is the limited dinner menu - pretty much just pizza and nachos. Oh, and ice cream for dessert! (So, if you're on a diet this place isn't for you) ;) The rooms are clean and roomy for a family of 2 adults and 3 small children. The attached restaurant has a fantastic breakfast buffet and a cereal bar that my kids (unfortunately) adore! read more

This place is "Epitomic Minnesota." The entire place is decked out in the woodland lodge theme with names for every room on placques outside the door as if they were cabins. In addition to that, the carpets have woodland creatures on them, there is knotty pine all over the place, and they even have a collection of stuffed animals. It's pretty cool if you are a hunter or a fisher, but not so much if you are vegetarian or vegan. The room was good sized, and comfortable, but the view was really nothing great, and, unless you hunt or fish there really isn't much to do in Baxter/Brainerd. We did, however, notice that there are two water parks in this tiny city, and they are just across the highway from one another. We did like The Baxter which is the bar/restaurant where we enjoyed our complimentary continental breakfast, even though the breakfast was pretty weak. The Baxter had some pretty good drink specials, a friendly bar tender, and some good food. I would recommend it even if you aren't staying at the hotel. One problem we had with the hotel was that, even though it was non-smoking, there was the distinctive scent of secondhand smoke in the air. We believe it is because they established a smoking area directly adjacent an outside door. So, when people go out there to smoke, their smoke comes in the building and lingers in the hallway. This place, as I say, is A-OK, but not really to our liking. The desk person we encountered on our arrival is not necessarily bad, but just not very congenial. My family and I stayed here for the second time this year. When we were first here we had an amazing experience, however a few things have changed since our last visit. We noticed that the beds are very uncomfortable and some of us have woken up with sore backs and necks from the rock hard mattresses we slept on. Also the rooms are left dirty and only the towels are replaced. We have had problems with room keys and lights in our room but those are minor things. On the contrary, breakfast is free and yummy and the waterpark has something for everyone. If you are looking to have fun for a few hours at the waterpark and spend the night in a messy room this place is for you. read more

Very nice hotel. The room was clean and huge: 2 TVs, separate suite areas, nice log furniture and nice view outside. A wedding was happening on the lawn and it was beautiful. Love the decor- old motors, fishing rods and loads of well done taxidermy- just like a lodge! Bar and restaurant were nice as well as convenient. Happy hour everyday 3-6 and very friendly bartender and waitresses. The couple apps we had were excellent. Every staff member throughout the property made eye contact and were welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay. read more

I checked in for two nights, first thing I had to do was ask for a roll of toilet paper, then they gave me a room but the door does not lock unless you take the time to jimmy the thing.Then they charge separately for the pool, and after me being down there for a half hour they shut it down, for safety purposes LOL. If you're not willing to stay away from this hotel. Service members stay away from this hotel. I would give it less than zero stars if I had the option. read more

The Lodge Bar and Grill, conveniently located next to The Lodge at Brainerd Lakes hotel, features excellent food, cozy atmosphere, and satisfactory waitstaff. The menu includes something for everyone: steaks, fish, and chicken dishes, pasta, burgers and sandwiches, and several fantastic varieties of brick oven pizza. There is also a full bar attached for a more casual dining experience. Be sure to try The Lodge Pasta, the roasted red pepper sauce is out of this world! read more
