We arrived and checked in just before 10:30. The restrooms were clean and stocked. The rest of our party arrived and we were called to tee. We did the Dam Nine, and we are a novice group, so it was a challenging course. The grass was well cared for. All of the greens were cut very short and fun to play on. It took us about 2 1/2 hours to do all nine holes. The views were beautiful from this course. I've only golfed a handful of times, so please look over my terminology. read more

5 Stars? Yes, for a muni course in Albuquerque, this course gets 5 stars. Last year they had some kind of problem with the irrigation system and lost a lot of grass (we had like zero precipitation last year, so it was not good). A year later and you would not know it. City guys did an outstanding job of getting this excellent course back in shape. Hat tip to the city workers at all of Albuquerque's muni courses. Some of the guys at Arroyo have been there many years and they care about that course. One practice green for chipping (with a bunker) and two for putting. Pretty good driving range, but in the winter don't expect a lot of good grass. You will have various "lies" on this course. More slope in the fairways than most courses in Albuquerque. A down hill putt away from the mountain? Be careful, that's going to be a fast putt! Normally they will have a beverage cart out every day. Tip them well! Cafe has better than average food for sure. Tip them well too! Everybody is friendly and many of the staff members are long time employees, which in my mind indicates a good work environment, which results in good friendly service. The City's Point-of-Sale system slows everything down during check-in, but that's true at all four muni courses. A pretty scenic course considering it's in the middle of the city. The Sandia mountains can present several different "looks" depending on cloud drape, crisp air, or even dusted in snow (yes, in Albuquerque you can play golf in a light jacket one day, and go skiing the next day). On a sunny day with really clear air, the Sandias look like they are 100 yards away - beautiful. Water buckets on number 1 and 10 would be a nice touch. Also seems they don't have the best sand in the bunkers. The sand they use has a lot of tiny rock chips, which will splash up on the greens. Last time out there were no flags on the practice green, so if you hole two or three balls, you've got to fish them out, rather than just pulling them out with the flag. Minor, but it's a nice touch and Arroyo is pretty much the only course that doesn't provide flags. All in all, an excellent value and a fun layout. Highly recommend. read more

The course is in terrible shape. The greens are rough and on almost every hole we played fairway under repair. In some cases it was difficult to find a place to even bump the ball. Too many bare spots with sparse grass. This course was once the jewel of Albuquerque and it's a shame to see how far it has deteriorated. read more

Wow what an establishment. I started playing golf recently and im glad I go to ADO. The Dam 9 is full of silly mfers who take 10 years to move but the cart girl is great and she is a silly goose and i will get better at golf by playing more golf and wow what an establishment sock it to me yeeheee great job golf ur doing good! read more

my husband, daughter, son-in-law and I went golfing there a few weeks ago. The course is in very very very bad condition. There is no grass in the fairways. All dirt. They have it roped off. You cannot drive the 90 degree rule. It is very pathetic the condition. On top of that they still charge you the same green fee. I WILL NOT be going back those year. They lost our business. I played this course on June 1 2025. the majority of the fairways are in bad shape and the whole course should be considered "ground under repair. " Not worth the $52.00 fee. The city of Albuquerque can do better. Th course should be closed for the summer to get the course in shape. read more

We played the dam nine course. We enjoyed the course and the scenery. It was quick and had some cool and some challenging holes. The greens were in goof shape too. As a senior...over 55, I paid $14,50 + the cart. This is very walkable, but after work we got a cart. I would recommend it The staff was nice too read more

Am I rating the food, or the course? We'll start with food, since it's much more important. 10 Stars! Yes, 10! This restaurant is a hidden gem, and I have came here just to get food. Didn't even hit a bucket of balls! The green chilli cheeseburger is probably my favorite one in all of Albuquerque! It's big, it's messy, it's wonderful! Always cooked well, cheese completely melted, with quality green chilli! I love this burger. The breakfast burrito is another great! I've never been dissapointed with it! They also have Nathan's hotdogs which are bomb! The course is probably a 4 for me. Lot of fun, decent amount of water for an ABQ course. More than you get on a lot of the way more expensive courses around town! The Dam 9 has some great holes to offer as well and is my preferred 9-hold course. The marshal's here are always a bit uptight. Not sure why, but the only place we've ever had anyone harp on us is here. And it's been for nothing. There carts here SUCK somethin fierce! I'm talkin a golf ball through a garden hose suck! That's powerful! More than once we have had a cart just die in the middle of a game. You then have to call in, and sit and wait for 15 to 20 minutes for them to bring a new one out to you. I'd get it if it was a rare occasion, but it's not at this course. Really hoping they invest in some new carts soon! When you arrive if you are not at least 15 to 20 minutes early you can bet you'll start late because they don't even have enough carts to offer. I always end up waiting at least 10 minutes for a cart. Overall everything rocks here except their carts! read more

The gritty golfers play the Dam 9. And if Jimi is anything, he's gritty. Came within 25 shots of the course record believe it or not. Pro tip on hole 8. Just keep advancing the ball down the arroyo. You'll eventually be close to the green. Oso is the Spanish word for bear so there's that. 5 stars read more

Holy golf balls! Beautiful day, beautiful course, great prices, and professional, friendly attendants and staff make for a great day of golf! We had never been here before and were WOW'd by everything from the moment we walked into the club. My mother-in-law, visiting from California, who is used to great golf courses, started raving about how impressed she was and I knew we had found a winner. Great drink selection from the restaurant/bar. Beautiful view of the mountains from most of the course. We had no expectations, but the greens were well-kept and the perfect length to play a quick 9. Our cart was one of the nicest we've ever used! No pressure from players who were either walking or riding and everyone was in a great mood! Why wouldn't you be? On an Easter weekend like today? The only reason I am giving this golf course a low rating is because of the marshal. I was working a golf event here and I parked my cart on the hill of the tee in the rough so I wouldn't block the players in the cart path. I was doing the Beat the Pro. The marshal has his kid in the cart and comes up to me and is very rude to begin with. I can't hear well so I had to ask him to repeat himself a few times and that made him even more rude. Also, the golf shop is constantly putting you on hold when you call and the fail to answer, so that's bad customer service. I'm a pro golfer and have been to many golf course. This by far is the worst staff I have met. read more

Massively over booked as usual. No big deal, but then on hole 18 marshal comes up and says WE need to pick it up because carts are supposed to be in by 6;45 while there is literally a group ahead of us on the green. If you over book the course that's your problem, but to yell at patrons that are patiently waiting to hit because YOU over booked the course, then you need to check yourself and stop being so greedy and overbooking the course. We played the Dam 9 at Arroyo del Oso which I think is a good course for experienced golfers and those just learning to play. Having said that, sometimes you'll get stuck behind a few really slow groups or sometimes in front of the speediest golfers ever. As far as dress goes, it's casual - tshirts, jeans, and even leggings are fine. I've seen people golfing in daisy duke style jean shorts and tank tops, but also in more standard golf attire. The price to play the full 18 is just a little bit more than 9, and weekend prices are a bit higher than week day. The driving range is nice and reasonably priced, and they've got some nice putting greens with great areas to practice chipping. The club house has decent food, but not good enough that I feel the need to go back after my next round there. read more

What a nice course with a reasonable price. Greens are well groomed and decent sized fairways with dog legs and some easy driving holes. They don't pack you in too tight either so you rarely have to wait or have someone riding up on your group every hole. read more

Good muni. ADO has a full 18 and the "Dam Nine," to complete these 27 holes in the middle of the NE Heights. Well maintained, the either the 18 or 9 make for a nice outing. Like most munis, if you find a slow time you can play the course quickly. When busy, count on 5+ hours. Pro shop is helpful and courteous. Grill has hot and cold items. Do have a beverage cart that circulates through the course. Give the pro shop a call to check on green fees ... they often have specials going on. My buddy and I played on a Saturday, 12:30 - 4:45pm, for $25 and that included a cart (December 10), Course was in great shape. read more

Worst service I've ever had! Played golf today in a five some with one riding along. To start we had 3 carts and the cashier charged us all a whole cart instead of half a cart. Then as we got going we noticed the course Marshall was following us. I normally see the Marshall 3 or 4 times per round. The only reason they should follow is if someone is doing something wrong which we weren't. This guy was sitting and watching us on 10 of our 18 holes. He came up and accused of stuff we hadn't done THREE times. The one guy we had riding took maybe 5 shots all day just so he wasn't sitting there and the starter came out of the clubhouse at the start of the back nine and said he "needed to hit the road because he is playing and didn't pay and doesn't have clubs" when we explained he wasn't and doesn't own clubs and only took a few shots he threatened to kick all of us off the course. He took a few shots out of the rough and in the fairway while we had no one behind us. We paid around 350 bucks total to play here. For 6 college students that's a lot of money and for that kind of money I'd like to not be followed by a course Marshall, not be harassed by the starter for no reason, and have some professional behavior from people on staff. read more

I'd never golfed before and my husband and friends went with me to Arroyo Del Oso and we played the Dam Nine. It was a beautiful coarse and we had a really good time. The other players and staff were friendly and we didn't feel too rushed during our 9-hole golf game. I really liked that there were a few ponds on the course. The course seemed very well maintained. I didn't get to try the restaurant, but maybe next time. The prices are average for the city. I'll be back to Arroyo. Maybe next time we'll do the full 18 holes! read more

This is a beautiful and peaceful course in the middle of the city. You don't realize you're surrounded by some of ABQ's busiest streets unless you pay attention. My Texan brother-in-law and I went at 10am on a Wednesday. We got 18 holes, a cart, and a bucket of range balls for only about $30. We were paired up with another twosome, a couple of the nicest guys you could meet. This was the first time I played 18 holes, and it definitely showed. But everyone stressed that the purpose of golf is to have fun and that they were all at my skill level once. I'll definitely be back to this exceptional municipal course. read more
