Super nice well manicured golf course with very nice staff and lots of pretty girls to assist with food, drinks and club care. Might be the best golf course I have ever played. One complaint is the practice range is noisy because a maintenance cushman cart would drive by about every 3 minutes. Seemingly for no reason. Two of the carts were the same guys who looked like they had nothing to do. I'm not joking in the hour I was there they drove by like 10 times each.

I played at noon on a Tuesday, I arrived 30 minutes early (max allowed) and was greeted at the bag check. First impression the place is beautiful and the staff are friendly and helpful. I checked in and the customer service just kept getting better, I purchased a few items and paid for my round . I came down stairs and my bag was loaded in a cart and ready to go. I putted for a while and headed to the range, balls were stacked and the tees were grass. I then went to the starter met my playing partners and started our round. I clicked with the local couple I played with and had a great round. Even thou it was aTuesday the beverage cart passed by every three holes, the bathrooms were clean and the snack shack at the turn was top shelf. I play a lot of golf around the west and this course is worth playing and great bang for your buck. I will be back

Looking at the Sandias. Beautiful day!

We golfed here for a tournament recently and was blown away with the shape of the course, the food, and all of the staff. I rented clubs and I thought $50 seemed kind of steep for a round, but they were all muscle back titleists with wedges, hybrids, and woods. So not a bad deal. It was hot and not too many places to catch shade on the course but the cart gals managed to roll up consistently throughout the round. The carts were nice. GPS and also limiters that prevented you from driving on the green or off the course. Yardage was pretty much spot on give or take 2-3 yards. Greens rolled true and it was easy to hold them. The bar and restaurant was also good. Cold and crisp beer and freshly prepared food. I had the green chili cheese burger with a side of slaw. Noshed it down really quick. Tee up here if you're in Albuquerque.

    Great finishing hole!

This is a beautiful course with a wonderful view on every hole. Great way to admire Gods creation for 4 hours. There is some transition on the greens from bentgrass to poa annua, but greens roll true and are super fast. I will be back!!

Last year they had some…read morekind of problem with the irrigation system and lost a lot of grass (we had like zero precipitation last year, so it was not good). A year later and you would not know it. City guys did an outstanding job of getting this excellent course back in shape. Hat tip to the city workers at all of Albuquerque's muni courses. Some of the guys at Arroyo have been there many years and they care about that course. One practice green for chipping (with a bunker) and two for putting. Pretty good driving range, but in the winter don't expect a lot of good grass. You will have various "lies" on this course. More slope in the fairways than most courses in Albuquerque. A down hill putt away from the mountain? Be careful, that's going to be a fast putt! Normally they will have a beverage cart out every day. Tip them well! Cafe has better than average food for sure. Tip them well too! Everybody is friendly and many of the staff members are long time employees, which in my mind indicates a good work environment, which results in good friendly service. The City's Point-of-Sale system slows everything down during check-in, but that's true at all four muni courses. A pretty scenic course considering it's in the middle of the city. The Sandia mountains can present several different "looks" depending on cloud drape, crisp air, or even dusted in snow (yes, in Albuquerque you can play golf in a light jacket one day, and go skiing the next day). On a sunny day with really clear air, the Sandias look like they are 100 yards away - beautiful. Water buckets on number 1 and 10 would be a nice touch. Also seems they don't have the best sand in the bunkers. The sand they use has a lot of tiny rock chips, which will splash up on the greens. Last time out there were no flags on the practice green, so if you hole two or three balls, you've got to fish them out, rather than just pulling them out with the flag. Minor, but it's a nice touch and Arroyo is pretty much the only course that doesn't provide flags. All in all, an excellent value and a fun layout. Highly recommend.

Greens zoom here, and most approach shots are uphill. when we tee'd off at 7am we played 18, and never saw the cart girl. Apparently it was too early. When we teed off at 4pm we saw her on hole 1, and she was done for the day after that. Apparently it was too late.... They also close the restaurant at the turn relatively early. We were unable to restock our beer supply there so we had to finish the round SOBER! and it really hindered our ability to play good golf...or at least it's my excuse! Not sure why ABQ golf courses seem to have a problem getting the beer to their golfers, but i'd imagine they lose out on a boat load of money because they can't serve adequately. if you go in the afternoon you can play for $40. At $40 it's definitely worth it. At $80 IMO it's definitely not! I think there is 2 holes with water which i would like to see on 5 or 6 at least. I know we are in the desert but at $80 a golfer you'd think there'd be some money for another pond or two. They do have a cool range that I like as well, and the marshal/cart manager has been nothing but awesome! very cool guy.

I think so as I was running a PGA of America pro fundraiser and the good players in the field love this course. I would hear many of them saying its difficult and mostly fair (Hole no. 10 appears to be the kick-in-the-butt). Walking out from between the modest LOBO pro-shop and the grille, you stand and see a great vista overlooking a good bit of Albuquerque. All the way across the city basin you see 9-Mile Ridge and just to the left are five extinct volcano peaks. To the rear and over the shoulder are the tailing portions of the Rocky Mountains. I did putt a few on the greens and they were very healthy ... and quick. The course ends the Front 9 with a par-5 and the Back 9 with a par-5. The grille had a very nice menu and they did the taco bar service at the close of play - tasty with lots of New Mexican flare. Should I ever have a chance to return to Albuquerque ... with my golf clubs, this is my stop. Play away, golfers! UNM Championship Course is suuuhweeeet!

This is an absolutely beautiful course! It's set up very well and very challenging. However, what sets them apart from other higher end courses is the staff! I'd especially like to acknowledge golf pro Allen for being extra nice! He and other pros are the foundation upon future patronage of a particular golf course.
