The service rep. Jesus wasn't bad though he didn't find the leak in my HVAC system. The really bad part was the prices they quoted for repairing what they found. The quote was $276 including tax for 410A Refrigerant per pound and I would need over 4 pounds according to Jesus's spoken estimate. They also wanted $345 for a capacitor. I got a second opinion from Airworxks Mechanical. They found the leak (the inline refrigerant filter) and I had them repair the system. They charged $85 a pound for the 410A Refrigerant. That's a deference of $191 per pound. They also noted he system needed 4 lbs on their estimate but ended up having to use more but didn't charge for the overage above the estimate. Jesus recommended a new system and and ARS salesman came out that day. The quote for a Carrier comfort A2L 2 ton 16 seer2 system was $13,524.70 which included a $5,796.30 discount. read more

I had a split unit istalled on 4/1/2026. The comfort advisor was Anthony Calderone, he was a true gentleman . Took his time , explained everything to us, gave us a great price couldnt be happier. Now this when it really gets good , my technician 2 gentlemen named David and Terrence. They were neat , their work was unbelievable .We couldnt have been happier. Give those two a raise. So I had a brand new system installed by ARS Wilmington and the system was not installed properly. They did not level the air handler and the system will not Drain properly. My drip pan has already filled up 6 times and shut off my system and also the new drip pan they installed is leaking and has ruined my ceiling. Service techs have been out to my house 3 times and have told me they fixed it but it shut off again because drip pan is full and leaking into my ceiling. I called them Friday night and set up an appt from 10-2 for Sat and nobody showed up. I called them back and they said someone will be there by 4. Nobody showed up. I called again and then they said someone will be there Sunday between 10-2. It's 4:30 on Sunday and no one has showed. You can get ahold of anyone in service and when you ask to talk to a service manager they say they will call you within 24-48 hours and nobody calls. Don't use this company if you want reliable service. I understand they can make mistakes putting in brand new equipment but when you can't get them out to your house to fix their mistakes it's really frustrating after you spent thousands of dollars to have it installed and it was never installed correctly. read more

We got our unit 4 years ago and it has broken down 4 times. When we bought it, they told us they would put us in a hotel if it broke down. That has not been the situation for us. When you call, they said they will "escalate" but it will take 24 hours to hear back. We got our unit fixed a couple months ago, turned the heat on Thursday night and it didn't work. They came Friday morning and have to order a part and told us not to run the unit until it's fixed. We got an invoice Saturday morning, but nothing schedule and no hotel room. This will be our 3rd night without heat. It's 67 degrees in our home in the middle of the day. Run! Do not give them your business! read more

Broken before the first year, took multiple calls to resolve via warranty process. Broken again in September 2024 and was charged $1,000 for a Freon refill that leaked as a result of poor equipment / installation. Please do not make the mistake we made. Go with literally any other company. The fact that they have no reviews on their website is also very telling, because I have actually left them a review. However, because Home Depot uses them as an installer, there are reviews on HD website, so you can peep those. To add to this saga, the response from ARS included a phone number "for additional clarification" regarding my issue. This phone number is a voice mail box and you will never hear from any actual live person. UPDATE - For those following along, they left a revised message on my Google review that directed me to send my contact information to the ARS Resolution Team for further "help", which I did. Just like the previous message left in the mailbox to no one, I've heard nothing back. Last Thursday (9/12/24) someone from ARS reached out (finally) and said they would get back to me with more information. It's now been almost a full week later and (again) I've been ghosted. UPDATE: Someone from ARS dialed my number yesterday, it rang twice, but no voicemail. Still haven't spoken to anyone since last Thursday. I wouldn't give them 1 star, if that was an option. A/C went out Monday 03/09, I called a few places since it was after hours (5:00). They were the only place that could do same day service, so I agreed to take the 6-10 pm appointment. I received a call around 7:00, that they couldn't make it that night, but would be there first thing Tuesday morning. That's fine, I understand. Tuesday morning, they're here at 8:00. I tell the tech what we are thinking is wrong with the A/C, he spends some time looking around and agreed, it was the contactor and the capacitor. Of course, he found additional things we needed, and also mentioned a few unit. I get a quote of $860 for the 2 things mentioned above, and that's not including the $100 service fee. I was shocked. We need A/C, so I went ahead with it and asked for it to be fixed. Oh, I don't have the parts on my work van and I don't have time to go back to the shop today. They'll call you to schedule the repairs and also they'll call for a free quote on a new unit. Fast forward to Wednesday afternoon, I have not heard a peep from anyone at ARS. No appointments to fix my A/C, no word on the 2 small parts, nothing. Side note, a family member ran to a parts store, got the capacitor and the controller, and had it fixed in 20 minutes. I call ARS to check in and see why I haven't heard anything regarding my A/C. A man calls me back, asks what he can do for me and I reply, well, I called your company, paid your tech $100 to take a look at the A/C and I asked for it to be fixed. I was told he couldn't, and I've been waiting on a call to schedule the repairs. He was rude and condescending. He lets me know that there are no capacitors nor contactors in town, he has none at ARS, and hey, maybe someone threw them all away, he didn't know. This is where I let him know what I had already spent on my air and that it was fixed from parts purchased in town. His reply to me is what takes the cake... ma'am, I could have ordered those 2 parts for you at a discounted price, $15.00 and we'd still charge you $860.00. THAT'S HOW WE RUN THIS BUSINESS. What was supposed to be a new unit was put in 2022, have kept up with the maintenance and now the unit has malfunction and the service team can not get themselves together to see what the issue is. 2 service calls and no one has kept there word and made it out to the unit yet. I bought 4 brand-new units from ARS in September 22, I bought the plan to service my units twice a year to make sure they stay healthy like the ones they replaced which served me almost 20 years before on gave us issue, They suggested we replace them all together so we did not have to worry about HVAC issues. We did, it cost us a lot, we had to finance it. a couple weeks ago on a normal service trip the tech told me my brand-new HVAC systems could be putting mold and germs into my air because they are pulling too much water from my air. I needed to install additional filters on the units themselves to protect myself. My brother just passed in October, God rest his soul, Loved Phillip so much, so this scared me. I told him what ever he needed to do. I then found out it will cost me more than the air conditioners cost me to begin with. I was floored. How could they sell me systems that would breakdown in less than 2 years and need $40k worth of extra filters just to be safe:( Now, tonight, the upstairs unit filled with water and shut off. I had ARS come out today because my TRANE unit was not cooling properly. Technician said I neefed refrigerant called 410a which is about $80 maximum per pound installed. ARS wanted $1348 for this plus $200 to find a leak and $3500 in repairs thereafter if necessary. my unit is 5 years old so I know it didnt use the old refrigerant that is now very expensive. so this technician tried to rip off a senior citizen about $1000 plus dollars. I would give ARS a no star if I could. Had a new unit put in and have had issues ever since. First of all, they didn't cut a return in where they said they would. Then the eco thermostat they installed never keeps the temperature right. Set on 68 and 72 it gets to 75 and the ac doesn't come on. Or the other way in the winter. we worked with Tyler in Wilmington and he is horrible about returning calls or coming out to follow up. Stay away from Home Depot purchases with ARS as the contractor!!!!! We bought a new air conditioning unit through Home Depot in 2019. ARS Rescue Rooter in Wilmington installed the unit. In August of 2022 the unit failed and we contacted ARS for service since the unit had a warranty that was still active. A service tech came and did a diagnostic check which cost $116.00 The fan is in the unit went bad and had to be replaced. The fan was under warranty but the labor was not. We ended up with a $587.00 bill for a 90 minute service visit. So in reality . . . this 3 year old unit under warranty ended up costing us over $600.00. We may not have been charged for the replacement part, but rest assured we ended up paying for it. read more

Came home to find a/c not working. It was 88 degrees inside. We called ARS at 1245 and they said they would try and get it done same day. In 2.5 hrs we get a call that a technician will be there in 30min. Right on time Michael shows up and diagnosed the problem and within 25 minutes we had A/C!! I have nothing but awesome things to say about them. Called on a Sunday morning and they were at the house by 11 am, on a SUNDAY. We worked with Lee first. He was easily the most experienced technician I have ever worked with and properly explained what 3 other HVAC visits previously had failed to diagnose. Literally, I was so impressed with his knowledge. Second visit was from Danny, who correctly measured the new unit we would need and explained the pros and cons of each unit to us in a way we could understand. He did not push any certain unit on us and tried to help us make the best decision for our family. Third visit was installation. The men were very kind and used safety measures that made us feel comfortable during covid. Install was on a slab and the unit looks great! Price for the unit was a little high but way way way worth it in the expertise gained and the professionalism of the staff. Prayed for resolution and prayers were answered in the best way. I would use these guys again tomorrow (but hope I don't need to.) Way way way above and beyond :) read more

We called Cool Breeze for a second opinion who found that the drip pan was clogged and repaired it for a trip charge. I had an HVAC system installed by ARS in December 2011 and have had problems ever since. The actual units themselves are properly functioning; it's how they were installed. They refuse to rectify connection issues which have led to constant humidity levels greater than 60%; even in the winter it remains greater than 50%. My once dry crawl space is wet under dripping ductwork. My doors no longer shut from the moisture. Even running the system at 69 degrees only makes you feel damp and clammy. I have had inspectors come and look at the units, and state the ductwork has become wet inside due to improper sealing and installation. The irony of it all is that I paid 'extra' for an extended warranty- but unfortunately that does not cover another company to correct their poor insulation job... and ARS certainly isn't going to do anything about it. I paid an exorbitant amount for what I was told would be a HVAC system which would cool and heat my home at comfortable levels, with a 100% satisfaction guarantee...but I have not been, nor am satisfied whatsoever. I now have more hindrances than when I did with my older units. If you want a company that stands behind their work, and their written guarantee, then ARS isn't one I would recommend. read more

If I could leave zero stars of course I would. I called to schedule a routine AC HVAC check just to make sure things were working fine for the new buyers. The number I called was evidently for the larger corporate line. Which isn't super relevant but just some info. This was on a Thursday they said they could have someone come out on Monday between 12 and four. 4 o'clock came no one showed so I called the first # that I found on google for ARS and the gentleman on the line had no information regarding my phone number or address for a service call. I was dumbfounded. Felt like he was as well. A bit pissed I hung up. The next day I ended up calling the same line I initially called just to see why I had not received a call back or anything at that point the lady said the information is given to the local company and someone should have gotten in contact with us. Obviously that never happened so I asked to reschedule just because it's a simple procedure. Well two days later still haven't received any correspondence whatsoever had this been an emergency I wonder if it had been treated if it differently either way I would never recommend this company to anyone read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Complete incompetence in the Wilmington office. We have now been without heat for 5 days during a cold snap. Our house is currently at 29 degrees. We canceled other companies because ARS was able to get to us on Tuesday. The tech said we needed a new communication board and it would be there in 1-2 days. After having to call them about 15 times because every time they never call back when they said they would, we finally got a call that the tech would be there within the hour with the part. My husband and father drove on the ice roads from Oak Island to Wilmington to meet the tech. After two hours, I called ARS to ask where the tech was and was told that the whole part didn't actually come in and it wouldn't be here until Monday or Tuesday. Lucy, Belinda, Greg, and Aleah are condescending and incompetent. For being the "emergency" company in town, they have no idea how to handle an emergency. I'll preface this by saying that I called ARS after their tech left and was told that someone would call me back the next day to discuss my concerns. It's now been 9 days since that call and I haven't heard anything from them. I called ARS on a Tuesday to see if they could look at my AC unit and was told that I would be put on a standby list, which meant that I'd be the last appointment of the day as their techs finished their scheduled jobs. I told them that would be fine, but a few hours later I received a call telling me that their techs were all busy and wouldn't be able to meet me today. The person that called said that he could put me on the schedule for the next day (Wednesday) "around lunchtime," which he said would be between 11 and 2. I agreed and the next day no one showed up within that window. I called around 3 pm, left a message with someone, and then someone else called me back telling me that I was on standby and not on the schedule as I was led to believe. So I basically spent my early afternoon waiting around due to someone's scheduling error (which they wouldn't admit to). Nonetheless, a tech arrived a little after 4 and worked on my unit. When I first called on Tuesday, I was told there would be a $99 service fee, plus whatever parts were needed. I was told that I would be offered a military discount, and that I could also look on their website for any coupons that might be applicable. When it came time to settle the bill on Wednesday with the tech, I found that I was being charged $99 for the service fee, which was discounted from $142, which I thought was odd, seeing that I was told that service fees were $99 and not $99 after any kind of a discount. Further, I was quoted a price for the part, and that was showing up on my itemized invoice as being discounted $98. Because the tech "discounted" the part already, he wouldn't give me my military discount nor would he honor a $50 off coupon that was printed from their website (I wasn't trying to use both - that wasn't allowed per the coupon). He tried to argue that I authorized the repair (he never gave me a written or electronic estimate - only a verbal quote that didn't mention a discounted price on the part), and that since he was already saving me $98, he couldn't do anything about the military discount or the coupon. When I questioned him about the $142 service fee, he simply stated that he's charging "what the company tells him to charge." After I threatened to call someone about the way these charges were presented to me, he further reduced the service charge to $59 (so much for the company telling him what to charge...). He still would not honor the military discount or the web coupon. My concerns are twofold. First, their scheduling was wrong and their unwillingness to admit fault doesn't give me a lot of faith in their operation. Second, their pricing, while fair or slightly higher than industry standard, makes it look like I'm getting a deal when I'm actually not. It's misleading to say that their service fee is $99 if their invoice shows that it's $142, discounted down to $99. It's also misleading to offer discounts, only to have a "generous" tech already discounting something that he never said was discounted in the first place. That's like buying a soda from a vending machine. "Did you know that the soda you just bought was really $4, but we're saying it's $1 on the outside of the machine? Enjoy your 'discount.' You're welcome." ARS installed my AC unit about six years ago and did a great job of selling the product and their service. But this encounter shattered my trust in their brand and made me wish I called someone locally instead. read more

He continued to inspect the rest of our HVAC system and we setup a return visit tomorrow to install an air scrubber into our system. Where do I start? We needed a new HVAC system. I shopped around and went with ARS because of their guarantees. I'm so grateful for those because I have used the hell out of them. Cliff was the sales guy I dealt with and he was so helpful with answering any questions I had. He was great until problems came up after the install and then he fell off the face of the earth and stopped responding. Day 1: our install was done on a Thursday. At the end I was going over the paperwork and realized they did not install the dampers, that I payed for. If I didn't catch that they would have gotten away with it. They also told me the zone board needed to be replaced, and someone would come the next day to install it. The installers left and I realized all my old equipment was left in my front yard. I had someone help me move it to my garage until they could pick it up. 3 days later someone came by himself to pick it up. He obviously couldn't load it himself so I had to help him. Day 2: another technician came to install the zone board and measure what size dampers I needed. By friday evening I realized our system was not working correctly. Our upstairs was 62 and our downstairs was 78, both thermostats were set at 74. I called them and scheduled a service call for Saturday bewteen 9-12. Day 3: Saturday was a no show for the technician. Day 5: Monday a different tech came out to see what was going on. Said the zone board was bad, replaced it and measured the dampers. By the end of the day, it still wasn't working. (At this point I forget the exact days but here is the chain of events.) The lead tech came and realized the thermostats weren't' communicating with the zone board. Replaced with new thermostats and a new zone board. I called the office and spoke with Greg. I was annoyed but patient with them. Everything was working great. Jump ahead a few days and my dampers were in. The head tech came in to install the dampers and the wrong ones were ordered. So they had to special order them again. A little over a week later, the head tech came again to put in the new dampers. Finally the right ones. After all this frustration and not getting answers to my questions from Greg, I then spoke with Mike the general manager. A few days after we were putting things back in our attic and realized the unit upstairs had so much condensation. An unusual amount. It was dripping onto the plywood and the tape around the duct work was coming off because it was so wet, the drip pan had water in it. Then we noticed a water stain on our ceiling. I called Mike and he said he would come out with the head tech and see what was going on. Now we are at today, a month after the install and the head tech shows up to see whats going on with the amount of condensation, but Mike the general manager did not come with him like he said he would. Annoyed in an understand. I have had people from ARS in and out of my home so much over the past month. I think we counted 12 times a technician had to come out. This process has been a nightmare, a very expensive nightmare. Someone warned us against using ARS, but went against their judgement and used them anyone. Mistake. Also, my parents are looking into replacing their HVAC and I was hoping to give them a good recommendation with ARS, but instead I will be telling them who not to use. The only plus is that have always been out to try and fix every problem that has come up, but I never had any of these issues with the previous unit we had. read more

They presented the options available as far as the system was concerned and never mentioned anything else. System was purchased from them including installation. No mention of potential building code or fire code issues. Installers show up and are adament that the closet housing the system will not meet code and it has to be addressed. I personally took care of making the space code compliant while the installers were there. They never mentioned any of this so not only did the cost of replacement in essence increase, I also lost 4hrs of my time to take care of this. Beware that they will not mention this to you during the sale because in their own words "our salespeople know nothing about inspections or code." It would be nice to have a clear picture of total costs when buying or at least know that there is the potential for additional costs so that customers can figure out what the total cost will be. TERRIBLE service. We have had the worst experience with ARS. They "installed" a new AC unit but it isn't working properly, we've made TONS of calls and set up appointments, and NO ONE COMES OUT when they are scheduled to. We have taken off work to be at the house for them when they are scheduled to be at our home AND NOT ONCE did they come for the appointment scheduled. IT IS INSANE and TOTALLY unprofessional. We were also guaranteed a rebate check and it never came... it has been 9 MONTHS. DO NOT make the mistake we did--- They need to get things right. read more

Called on a home I purchased. The sticker on the air handler had their name on it. The tech did $1500 worth of work without warning me about the cost. The units are on their last leg. Wish I had told them to take their parts and leave. Also, supposedly repaired a condensation line. Leaked before the ink on my check dried. Awful. Use anyone else. read more

0 stars I came home and my air wasn't working the system was running both inside and out just no cold air. So I turned it off when the tech got here he went around back told me he didn't even get a reading. I had told him I had shut it off then he said there was some part it may fix the problem but it might not it would cost me 250 because nothing was cutting on and he wasnt getting a reading. I was like don't I needed to turn it on. Long story short they said I needed a new system they said all my numbers where reading bad. I just wanted the problem fixed. I called someone else 140 later problem fixed and ac is working. I didn't need a new system. Ars doesn't fix the problem they just try and sell you a new systems! So unless you want a new ac don't call them it's a waist of time and money very disappointed the survive I did not receive yet paid for. read more
