I tried to get them to give me a price to install a new dishwasher. A straightforward install. Remove the existing unit and install the new one. They wanted to charge me a "dispatch" fee for someone to come to assess before they would quote an install price. This couldn't be any simpler, just give me a price to hook up a couple of lines and the electrical. The house is in perfect condition. Our plumber was very efficient in resolving our blocked drain, but I was surprised that he only offered one method to clear our problem. That method was equal to the lease payment on a Lexus. The price was the price regardless of the time spent. 10 minutes or three hours. It would have been great to have known that prior to the call out. In the end he finished with about 1:45 on the clock. We know up front that this company is a bit pricy, but in this case I felt we didn't have any options, it being 3:30pm on a Friday afternoon. read more

Fan on furnace was not coming on ...there tech definitive diagnosis was new a new fan motor ok I excepted the fact of a expensive repair job in the a.m. since he said p " can't get part tonight" schedule to come back in morning...he packed up and did my bill for service and I paid it...now he leaves..5mins later friend call and said there a fuse on the side of newer units no tools involved check to see if loose and how about that vibration kind of loosen the push to lock fuse .. but my thing is the tech doesn't no this and could have checked it first it's on outside of control box ...I have ask for my money back for miss diagnosis and wonder how many thousand of dollars companies make for bad diagnosis or repair tech not being updated on units they repair...I was ready to pay for the repair tomorrow..but thanks for reaching out to others I was saved...hope this review helps someone else read more

A friend recommended this company after I got sick and tired of the home warranty company I use kept doing BS repairs with several visits and several charges each visit instead of replacing with new. No, services aren't inexpensive, but problems are solved, things get fixed including electrical, heating and air and plumbing problems. Worst service ever. They installed the havac system wrong in February then so that was a 2-3 day coming back fixing then they placed the sticker wrong so inspection could not be completed. Also they made me give a payment option just to send someone out and they just installed the same week very disappointing. Once they finally came back to fix that the inspection was completed 2 weeks later. EVERY MONTH SINCE. Michael and Son have been to my address "fixing" something from the zoning board to god knows what one time the sent a technician out and he clearly had no idea about the system. We refuse to pay for a havac system with this many problems so they were supposed to send a credit for 1 month of service but I had to reach out and come to find out they weren't able to pay the company so they sent a check in the mail. No communication what so ever I was supposed to receive a call yesterday but you guessed it STILL NO CALL. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO A ENEMY! They also send "trained professionals" then when they get here they tell you they have been working on hvac for 20+ years BUT these new systems are different....even the manager said "I trust Steve but I would like a second opinion" WAIT WHAT?? You sent a emergency repair on Saturday no fix we sat in a hot house over the weekend then Monday afternoon you send someone and they just add coolant comical UPDATE 11/9 Still the worst service ever still having problems with the unit they have come out to my house twice in a week due to heat not working this is a patch job company will be getting this removed and going with a new company you also have to reach out to them for updates you would think if there was a problem with the service they provide you would be priority but maybe the are helping other customers who are having similar issues nonetheless terrible experience! I have used Michael's & Sons for A/C service and they were knowledgeable and fair, not seeking to upsell or charge for unnecessary maintenance on a new system. Recently had an experience with a plumbing service where our disposal was leaking. We just had our kitchen redone two years ago so we felt sure it was minor or a warranty issue. The M&S repair tech said the disposal was shot; needed to be replaced; was one of the cheaper models; and the bill would be $973 dollars. Found the model we have is one of the better models from my plumber brother who has been in the business in another state for 20 years. Found there was nothing wrong with our disposal and all that happened was the securing screws vibrated loose. It was fixed and is working fine by reinstalling the securing screws. Worst part is my wife showed the tech one of the screws not knowing what it was and the tech told her "like I said, it just needs to be replaced." Worse than incompetent. Closer to fraud. read more

I had an issue where my AC just shut off. Mark showed up and figured out pretty quickly what was the issue. He took the time to ensure that all work was completed to the best of his ability. He took pictures of what issues there were with my AC unit/HVAC system. Then he supplied me with the expense of various options, which would help me to make the best decision for my home. I felt like he was extremely continuous of the work he performed, he was on time, and the quality of work is very much appreciated. I really did enjoy having him here. I needed a simple replacement of a water cut off for my washer. My old one had worn out and was leaking when in the offi position. I had no idea how expensive the simple repair would be . The representative (not licensed himself, but working under the license of the company) sent to repair this simple plumbing issue was on his iPad trying to charge me for every question. I was asking him.. simply asking him to verify the issue at hand was going to be an extra $20 after the service call charge and before the work was started. I was told a simple cut off valve cost $100. I was in a desperate situation to get a new washer installed, so I continued with the service. Heat pump quit on very cold night. Had to ask for after hours service. First person who came out said thermostat was bad and replaced it with an old thermostat we had on hand. Everything seemed to work but he did not fully verify everything was working. An hour after he left and the house cooled down after turning off the fireplace and space heaters, we realized we didn't have heat. We spent a very cold night. Next day MS sent out another service person. He was very fast and competent. He found a "burned" wire in the outside unit, replaced a fuse in the air handler and stayed long enough to fully verify everything was working. read more

My tenant called Michael and Sons for a plumbing issue .first of all the price was outrageous $581. when he left he left the cap off outside the septic line so poop was going on the ground !! ​ all he did was clean out a little hole in the septic line so that the toilets would go down. my husband went out there and cut the septic lines into and this is what we found . I would add a picture if I could figure out how to but the grease was over a inch thick all the way around the septic line the man did not clean out the septic line he just put a hole in the middle his name was Brandon Clifford my husband then tried to call back to the company and left a message but they never returned his call I would not advise anyone using this company for sewage problems so I called back this morning the tenant said the toilets were stopped up again I called Michael's and son since it is a Sunday they said it would be like $160 charge but if I can wait till the 3rd it wouldn't be no charge well the man has got to use his toilet in the shower before the 3rd worst experience I've ever dealt with Conway South Carolina read more

After requesting a Duct Cleaning, The service technician took pictures of Ducts that were leaking and could not clean them. Before he left he advised us that he would email a quote to replace the ducts and a quote for a service agreement. After Three weeks we never received an email. I followed up by calling the office, then after being on hold for five minutes I was told they could not help. I think that out of courtesy to the customer we should have been told that a lot sooner. I had an annual contract with Michael & Sons. The A/C and Heating check up was good. When the plumber came he said that all the insides of the toilets needed to be changed for $300.00 each...I said no thank you, I will do it myself..When the electrician came he checked off a lot of items on his list that he did not even look at, he said I needed to replaced ground rods and wires in the back of the house. I emailed the manager (Matt) and asked why did the technician check off things he did not look at and how did he know I need to replace rods/wires? He said he would have the tech call me, he called a few days later and left a message to call him back. I returned the call and left a message and Never heard back from him. I will NEVER use this company again for anything. Their communication with customers is horrible. read more

This company cons you. Instead of finding the problem they run a lot of tests . Each one is $369. I stopped him and told him it just needed a recharge. They charge by the test not by the hour. This person was going to charge me for 3 tests at 369 each. Michael and Son is not honest and are out to take your money for tests that dont need to be run. Do not use Michael and Son. I made them just recharge my hvac instead of a Coil filter test...a leak detector test and then they elwanted to replace my whole coils for 2139.00. Duct work replacement review. We hired this company to replace the duct work under our house. It was old and falling apart. The crew came, and it was quickly apparent that they were not feeling like doing this job. Every time I looked out the window they were outside, standing around, or sitting in the back of the van. When they pulled out the old ducting, it didn't look like very much to me. The following day my husband went under the house and discovered that they left several BAGS of trash there, and that there were several places where the duct work was laying on the ground (apparently this was a no no), as well as other things that either were not done, or done incorrectly. I called back to request Michael and son send out a DIFFERENT crew (didn't want the same guys because we figured if we couldn't trust them to do it right the first time, couldn't trust them now either) to correct the problems. They accommodated us and the 2nd crew did a much better job, and found even more problems with what the 1st crew did than we were aware of. We appreciated their hard work, but I wanted to write this review mainly because most people probably don't go under the house (or in the attic) to check behind and make sure things were done right, so they have no idea. In the end Michael & Sons made it right. Be careful and make sure the work is inspected to make sure it's done correctly. Your wallet (power bill) will thank you. read more

We had an issue with the condensation line on our HVAC unit. When they fixed the line and added a flushout, they torqued the line so much that it broke the pan that it is attached to. Rather than addressing the broken pan, the technician attempted to tape over it. When the system was turned on, the water came through the broken pan and leaked in the attic through the ceiling and onto the floor below. When I called them, they wouldn't even send anyone out for four days, even though it was something that they had worked on before. When I spoke to the General Manager, he wouldn't even agree to look at the problem. His response was "there's no way we did that". Everyone makes mistakes, but you need to own them and take responsibility. My insurance company will be subrogating the claim against them for my damages. read more

After damaging my home Michael and Son stated it was due to a pre-existing problem for which I have the report by Michael and Son that the system was running as it should prior to the work they installed. They cut out the drywall because it was wet and left it like that only wanting to replace the drywall without performing any restoration services to address the mold that had developed. They assured me that I would receive a refund on the work they installed because it had to be removed and I have received nothing. It's not the fact that a mistake was made by Michael and Son on their recommendation to install the item, it's the means by which they handled the mistake when it was brought to their attention. They say they stand behind their work but actions speak louder than words. Do your research before you contract with this company. read more
