If you are into visiting hole in the wall start-up breweries, then you absolutely must stop by their tap room in Cherry Valley! The atmosphere is friendly and cozy; feels like a hidden speakeasy. Red Shed has approval on four base beers for distribution in Cooperstown and surrounding areas however you can find exciting one off brews at the taproom. They plan to get distribution approval for popular one offs from there. As of the time of this review the brewery is less than one year old but there are many exciting things on the horizon.

The trees are low enough not to require ladders so they're kid friendly (and for those of us who are fun-sized). The orchard offered a beautiful view of the hills in the background covered in fall trees when I went in early October. There was also a little pumpkin patch that was perfect for pictures! Many people visit Fly Creek Cider Mill and Orchard but you don't get the same experience since you don't get to pick the apples right off the trees. However, we did visit Fly Creek (which is a fun experience too!) the next day and I thought that the apple cider doughnuts from here were much better - they were softer and denser! I also compared it to some doughnuts that my cousin bought from another orchard in PA and Middlefield's still comes up on top! I definitely recommend here for your traditional fall apple-picking/apple cider doughnut-eating/pumpkin-picking experience! There weren't much people when we went so there were many opportunities for uninterrupted photos as well!

Not many carry cash anymore much less dollar bills. Just add it to the price and let people not have to fumble looking for more money once inside. We got here an hour before closing which probably isn't enough time but my son is 3 so it was perfect for him. The carousel which I thought was super cute my son ran for dear life from. It's a carousel! lol. Seriously the way he ran you'd think we were trying to lure him to the carousel of death. So sadly no ride on that but everything else was really cool to check out. Random chickens around my son was happy seeing it all. Gift shop was closed as we left but we came back the next day to check that out :) I definitely plan on coming back here as my boy gets older where he can actually pay attention to things.

When we checked in, we were greeted warmly. I really appreciated help with my bag up the somewhat steep & narrow stairs. (No elevator - so keep that in mind if you come to stay.) Bed was firm, bathrooms were spotless, extra pillows in the closet are sealed in plastic, bedding all super fresh. Phone chargers next to the bed & sofa(bed) & solid wifi made this quaint & cozy room connected. Full length mirror, hair dryer & an iron & ironing board were much appreciated. Our 2nd floor room was very quiet & the blackout drapes on all windows plus the split ac & heat controls made everything adjustable for a perfectly cavelike environment. Hello solid night's sleep! A small fridge in the room had little Coffeemate creamers for the in-room coffee maker, but there is always a coffee & tea station downstairs too. The town is literally across the street! The Baseball Hall of Fame & the Farmers Museum are both a block & a half away, and in between are several spirits shops, baseball stores, restaurants and a bakery. Breakfast is 8am-9:30am & it is a nice offering: Oatmeal packets, cold cereals & milk Sausage & pepper frittata - custardy! Corn muffins (a must try!) Yogurts Fruit salad Heidelberg wheat, raisin & sunflower seed bread slices (& toaster) Coffee & tea station Orange, ruby grapefruit & cranberry juices Jams, butter, & condiments If you're coming to town & prefer a close stay to the sights here, & a smaller inn experience, this is the place to be! Breakfasts were outstanding (leek and spinach quiche, with apple cider-basted sausage; rosemary and lemon French toast with lemon curd, REAL maple syrup and bacon cooked to perfection; pancakes with berries - each beyond delicious!). Chef is happy to accommodate dietary restrictions - she takes great care to make sure you're nourished with nutritious food. Our group was assembled with two adults and two kids: we all thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful trip out there. First off, we were encouraged to pick fresh herbs & flowers all for free! Matilda loved it so much she squealed with joy as we ran through the rows of plants and picked flowers. We all left very happy and was glad we made the to trek out there. The kids loved seeing the home where our summer vegetables were grown and we had a lovely hand picked center piece for our dinner table that night.

Raymond and Sara and the rest of the farm workers take great care in their growing and harvesting, and it shows. We love the variety of vegetables (and a few fruits!) - many reliable standards like corn, tomatoes, snap peas, and broccoli as well as a few new ones like cooking greens, garlic scapes, and different heirloom varieties that have become some of our favorites. The farm is a wonderful place to visit, and the u-pick garden (that comes with your share) is overflowing with fresh herbs, cherry tomatoes, and flowers in all colors and sizes.
