I can't believe this place exists - it's awesome. Whether your in town for a week, a snow bird or full time resident check this place out. I am a long time fitness enthusiast who enjoys group exercise classes. This unique program has been a great way to reinvigorate my interest in going to the gym. There is nothing like it. It has been great for my overall fitness with an emphasis on core strength, flexibility and muscle conditioning. It's like taking a hybrid CrossFit,Yoga and Pilates class all wrapped in one. Additionally, hanging upside down in the hammock has been great for my back as it helps to naturally decompress my spine using my own body weight and gravity. This place is great for all ages and the instructors are all incredibly gifted and provide exceptional guidance with lots of one on one attention. If you're looking to take your fitness to a new level and bored with your current regimen or want an adjunct to your conditioning program I recommend this place. read more

To start I don't want this review to be taken in any ill manner. I found a new passion for this art form and definitely see a lot of potential in this studio. I'm here to state my honest opinion and experience: 1. The first class I had taken here was my very first ariel class. The doors were locked and not opened until the instructor came about 5 minutes late to open. She did not ask me to sign any waiver or release form even though I had said it was my first time. She wasn't very vocal on how to do the stretches but luckily I have been practicing yoga for so I knew my posing- but other new students may not. This instructor was definitely informative on the posing in the silks but after she taught me one move she told me to just continue to practice it for the rest of the class while she worked with a higher level student. 2. The next class I went to was a different instructor. While I enjoyed her as an individual I was not fond of the way she was making the class very competitive and intense. I enjoy being encouraged but not forced or yelled at. I went into this activity with a yogic mindset and it was definitely a shock to have this experience. 3. I was taught the same exact move/ pose for all three classes that I attended. I could have just went to one class and saved $80 with the same knowledge 4. The final class I went to was with all fresh beginners and while I was still a beginner I would have expected to have been given more moves based off the previous knowledge I'd been given. This class she had me repeat step by step the training process with the new people and I felt like I had just wasted $38. Not h til the very end of the class did she attempt to show me a new move but it was clearly way out of my mobility range. There are plenty of other beginner moves she could have shown me instead of building to higher levels in one move. 5. There are plenty of ariel studios in LA county that charge less than the price this studio is asking for. I love ariel arts but why would j spend $150 a month to have these frequent occurances and u comfort ability when I could buy an entire rig and silks for 200 and watch YouTube videos to teach myself in a structured manner. 6. I felt like I was being brushed off as a student and just there to be on the silks but I was paying to be taught and that's not what I received. These occurrences lead me to believe that these instructors aren't fully aware of how to break down their skills for newer students in any other way but one. And it also shows that they are not very attentive to the needs and development of their students. I think with more structure and care this place could be really nice but for now I would not choose to come back here again read more

I came across Art Flying Aerial as I was looking to try flying yoga- I came in with the amazing Yelp Deal and trialed a number of different classes- day 1 I was hooked and addicted to hammock. I've been practicing at the studio since late November, and came with NO prior dance, gymnastics or aerial experience; I literally had zero upper body strength and minimal flexibility. Training with Rubi, Yolanda and Sara over the last several months, I am amazed and impressed at my progress. I am practicing tricks I never thought I'd be able to do. My arms are toned, and even though I'm not quite where I'd like to be yet, my core strength is the strongest its ever been; I can even see ab definition lol. If you are looking for a fun full body workout, where you are encouraged and not judged, I highly recommend you give Art Flying Aerial a try. I have been coming to Art Flying Aerial for several years, even with the long drive from OC to Southbay. Why? The high ceilings, spacious environment, and variety of aerial apparatuses at this studio are so convenient. There are hardly any studios in my area with the amount of equipment and amount of classes offered here! Plus, I don't have to drive all the way to LA or Hollywood to get a good workout. The main reason I choose to drive the distance to this studio is because of how comfortable I feel immediately as I walk into the doors. The owners are super nice, and so is the staff. It has been worth the drive for me, and I always leave feeling like I worked hard. The positive effects I've noticed from taking these classes, and also being around such supportive people, has definitely been seen from myself and others close to me. I was nervous to try aerial arts at first... Let me tell you, I'm so glad I did! No experience required and no age limits! There were kids aged 3 all the way up to people in their 70s. I must add too that if you come from a pole, pilate, dance, yoga, gymnastics, or cheerleading background, you will definitely fall in love. In particular, this studio is BEYOND amazing. The instructors are so nice, caring, inspiring, and patient. The space has the highest ceilings I've seen and their garden is beautiful. Love this place. So far I've been to the 9am Saturday class for beginners and love it. Been to the class twice and plan to sign up full time!! At first I thought it would be very difficult but the teacher teaches you step by step until your doing cool and crazy poses you never thought you could do!!! But what shocked me was that I was extremely sore the next day but didn't even sweat at all during the class. It's a great workout for your core and stretches your body a lot. Classes are always pretty small and when the classes are full everyone still has there own silk or hammock. That's always a plus. No one likes waiting their turn to practice and we don't have to here I would like it if they put up a divider between the flying yoga and aerial arts. It's minor but I think it can be a little more relaxing with out extra noise when doing yoga. Which brings me to their garden yoga. It's really relaxing out in their back garden and you don't hear noise from other classes. I love taking garden yoga in the mornings. I started coming here since 2015 and I LOVE it! Tall ceiling for optimum performances. Prices can be steep but the owners are always willing to work with you. read more

I've taken the beginners class with Instructor Grace Chow and my kids absolutely love the youth class with Krystal Ledger. The classes are small and well equipped. It is a fun and solid workout! Thanks to grace's class I have improved my flexibility and core strength. She is excellent with beginners and explains the moves well. Amazing!!! I only have great things to say about my first-ever aerial experience. I started doing Aerial in late January 2015 and thanks to this studio I am hooked. First off, every single teacher and student is supportive about your progress, it honestly feels like a big family. Classes are tailored to your skill level with various modifications along the way (if you need it:)) My strength and coordination has greatly improved, and I am happy to say that I have come a long..long way from where I started. My arms and core are a LOT stronger thanks to these wonderful aerial workouts and with various classes throughout the day, it fits my crazy work schedule. Amazing!!!! If you are serious about Aerial Arts this is the place to be. Incredibly professional studio, highest ceilings around, super clean, and the owners treat the members like family. I tried Believe Fitness in El Segundo before and left my classes there to come here because it is so fantastic. They offer open gym too if you qualify. Parking is also super easy here. If you have back trouble, issues with pain, you have to do the restorative classes with Rubi (don't know her last name but assume there's only one Rubi!). I am extremely active and my body, especially my back, has been giving me lots of trouble, I was told I needed surgery and I will do anything to avoid it. A friend recommended I try AFA and I skeptically, and desperately, signed up. I did private sessions so I could really target my spine and work on realignment. Rubi knows exactly what poses are best for lengthening your spine, her sessions are amazing and I feel 1000% better and have a much greater understanding of my body, how I can continue to get better, etc. I've seen chiropractors and physical therapists, nothing compares to the work that Rubi does. Love this place! I got started with the $50 for a week of unlimited classes. What an amazing deal because it lets you try all the different classes and instructors. Staff is so helpful and welcoming, patient to answer any an all questions, and help you feel comfortable. Class sizes are small so you always feel attentiveness from the instructors. Manny is super nice and always available for questions about anything!!! His sisters are super sweet as well and they are instructors and owners of the studio. Love this place, it's pricey but worth it because of the equipment and the expertise of the instructors. If I could afford it, I'd be here everyday. read more

I was eager to find a new studio and resume aerial classes after relocating to the Torrance area, but based on several experiences, this studio isn't for me. 1. The first class I attended revolved more around Instagramming and posing for pictures than learning. I wish there had been a designated time for filming/photos so I wouldn't need to constantly worry about being in the background of strangers' social media highlights. It's fine if that's what you want your studio to be about, but I'm not paying $40 an hour to take photos; I'm there to learn. 2. The next class I took had two very young girls competing for the instructors' attention. One of the girls came with her mother who filmed and photographed her daughter throughout the entirety of the class. The instructor gave the majority of her attention to the daughter and her mother, which made the other girl upset and quite vocal, repeatedly exclaiming "Watch me!" "Look at what I'm doing!" The rest of the class was completely ignored. 3. The third class I took had a new girl who told the instructor she hadn't exercised in years and this was her first step to get back into shape. The hammocks were freshly washed and quite high, making it difficult for anyone new to pullovers or lacking upper body strength to get into the hammock. I'm 5'3 and even with the crash mat, I could barely reach the hammock with my arms fully extended and had to straight arm everything- this was a beginner class. The new girl could not pull herself up and spent the entire class heartbroken that she was unable to get past this step. The instructor repeatedly told her she just needed to try harder. When the girl said she was currently incapable of any sort of pull up because she had no upper body strength, the instructor again repeated no, you just need to try harder. After 40 minutes of this with the girl asking if there was anything else she could do because she was physically incapable at this point in her fitness journey of pulling up into a hammock, I finally came over and gave her my crash mat to double stack on hers and sat out for the remainder of the class. 4. I attended a hammock workshop at the studio and the door was locked when the guest instructor arrived. We had to wait for 20 minutes before anyone could come to unlock the studio. I think AFA has a lot of potential and based on the other reviews it seems I had a very different experience than most. read more

Instructor Candy was amazing and as sweet as her name. This is my first time trying yoga and I highly recommend this place if you are looking to stretch your body, or to build body strength and have fun and relaxation at the same time. There are many differnt level classes you can choose from and they offer a $50 deal for entire week try out which includes 5 to 7 classes each day for your choice. Right now the classes are not many people so you can get a lot of private attention from your instructor which is exactly what I needed as a complete starter. read more

This is by far the best work out/ sport/ art I have ever trained for, it's fun, and challenging. They take you to new levels of facing fears, flying really high and learning new tricks as you advance. Great way to forget that you're getting in shape! And did I mention fun? Love this place! Wouldn't go anywhere else. Family owned business...one of my favorite things about this location is they don't over crowd classes and are able to correct form and moves as class is taking place. I took the 8:30 AM restorative flying yoga class. They never took down their old address on their website, to even though I wanted to arrive early for a class, I was almost late due to running around trying to find their new studio. When I got there at 8:29, the doors were closed and the lights were off. I waited there until 8:35 when the teacher Ana finally arrived. After setting up we finally started 15 minutes late. The room was freezing cold, I had to keep my socks and jacket on for the entire class, the floor was unswept (we spent a lot of time laying on the ground) and the silks smelled like sweat. The yoga itself was relaxing and challenging, I really liked the concept of using silks to get into deeper stretches. A regular drop in class is 38 dollars, which I think is a bit outrageous, especially if the teacher arrives late and the studio is dirty. read more

I started the beginner's class with Grace Chow. I was initially skeptical and nervous, but they were both very thorough and helpful. They made me feel comfortable as they explained the maneuvers and were both very understanding. Not to mention, Grace makes the class an absolute blast! After working with them for just three weeks, I'm starting to see results! I am more flexible, energetic, with a stronger core. I love art flying aerial! I have been going for about 8 months now, taking a huge range of classes, from aerial hammock to silks, acro to trapeze, as well as conditioning. Each class is taught by instructors who tailor the class to your specific needs, no matter your strength, flexibility or overall experience. The versatility of the many apparatuses provides a wide range of tricks and moves, which allow you to clearly see progress. It is a full body workout, and works muscles you may never have known you had (which is a good thing). The atmosphere of the studio relies on the amazing owners and instructors, who never fail to make you feel welcomed and accomplished. Great place for parents and kids to get a great workout while experiencing something unique and calming.

I wish I could give it more stars, but after my first class, I'm not really interested. First of all, the instructor and other people in the class were not very welcoming in the beginning. I was willing to let it go, but the class ended up being very frustrating. I used to take silks other places, and adults were always separated from the kids. Not at this place. Also, at other places, there isn't a favorite. Here, there was obviously a favorite student, who was a teen (it's an adults-only class), and the instructor spent most of her time with her. She was much more advanced than the rest of us, so while we were flailing, the instructor spent a lot of time with the teen and the child. The favorite girl also apparently gets the front and center set of silks by default, because if anyone tries to take it she'll make a scene. Sorry, but aerial silks is supposed to be my happy place. And I was so, so frustrated. read more
