Visiting from out of town, my 13 y.o. daughter wanted some gym time. I called to enquire about availability and received an immediate text back with available times and instructions on how to register. Parking was easy, right in front of the studio and the owner was at the desk to greet us and take us back to the aerial studio, behind the dance studio at the front. The owner was extremely accommodating, asking my daughter which apparatus she wanted and at what height. She started on silks, but was also able to practice on hammock and lyra. He even allowed her to play music for an upcoming performance so she could rehearse. The other people at the Open Gym were very supportive-it feels like a great community. If we are ever back in the area and looking for gym time, we won't look anywhere else. Highly recommend! read more

I previously took yoga classes while in college but it wasn't till I took classes with Rubi, the owner of Art Flying Yoga Studio that I've come to truly appreciate and love yoga. I got to take Vinyasa yoga classes with Rubi for several weeks when she came to my work to teach a weekly yoga class. She is an amazing teacher. She works with each individual student and no matter what level you are at, she encourages each of us to workout to our highest potential. She is attentive to correcting students' yoga poses and her instructions are clear and easy to follow. Her classes are never boring and always gives a good challenge. After each class, I always feel like I can "fly" through the rest of thr day after because I feel stronger, better and more energetic. I cannot say enough good things about this studio!! It's small but I love that because it gives off a very warm and welcoming vibe. I started taking classes by myself but it definitely doesn't take long to meet people and makes friends with other students This studio is a combination of a yoga studio as well as aerial studio (think cirque du soleil or circus arts) I've taken every class and every teacher is I think amazingly qualified in the classes they teach! I had been doing yoga on and off prior to joining this studio but I must say my yoga game was really stepped up by taking classes here, especially the Rymenmy Yoga which the owner Rubi teaches. This is the very first place I took aerial classes ( silks, hammock or hoop) And I completely fell in love! It's such an amazing experience because it strengthen you both physically (helps viol upper body/core strength and creates more body control) and mentally (really teaches you to push your boundaries and let go of fear to accomplish things you thought were impossible)! My daughter has been taking classes and we are so happy of the service. My daughter is a dancer who currently do the Ariel Silks and Hammock to develop her core and build a stronger dancer. I can see how these classes helped shape up her body, and impacted her strength in dance. The staff is like a family, they are very approachable and will work to meet your needs no matter what they are. We feel so luck we have them in our area and that we don't need to drive fart to get it. My daughter has been with them for a year now, and she does Silks and Hammock. Also, they do offer great classes with master aerialists or acrobats which is always fun. 4.5 stars. Took a hammock class here. Group warm-up with rope jumping, stretching, ab exercises with group members counting. Over-splits and handstands. Conditioning on hammock with shrugs, straddle inversions, pullovers and skin the cats. Work through a sequence, and at the end perform it with music. Pros: - Love the emphasis on conditioning and stretching. Like that I felt challenged, even though I'm fairly new at this. - Student: hammock ratio: 1:1 (I think there were ~9? students in the class) I was tired at the end. - Rubi is great. She's technical about specifics and creative. - You get to perform at the end of class with music - Community vibe - High ceilings!!! Enough to drop multiple times. Enough to pullover into a high hammock, stand up, climb up the hammock without meeting the fringe ends of the hammock, invert, do a drop, and still have to climb down to meet the seat of the hammock. - Parking is available. read more

Art Flying Yoga provided me with the best experience of my summer! The studio is inviting and brightly lit with big glass windows and a wall of mirrors. The simultaneous fun yet challenging classes for aerial silks and aerial hammocks are what drew me to the studio at first, but it was the people that made me return. Until recently, I suffered from acrophobia, a crippling fear of heights. Although my fear is no longer so extreme, I am still in the recovery stage. As a result, I was definitely the slowest learner in all my classes and usually the weakest as well, but my teachers were always patient and understanding, and all of my fellow classmates were extraordinarily encouraging and helpful. No one pressured me further than I could handle; everyone there contributes to the studio's warm atmosphere and makes it a safe space for beginners and newcomers to try out different moves. The classes are comfortably sized, ranging usually from about four to ten people at most. Even when classes are larger, everyone gets plenty of attention, with more experienced students assisting newer ones. Everyone gets a chance to try out each new move being taught and there are plenty of lower hammocks for people to practice on if the taller ones are occupied. I made sure to try as many classes as possible at the studio. Kiki's Aerial Hoop classes on Sundays were very fun. Besides being bright and enthusiastic, Kiki is extremely strong and talented. She manages to both patiently coach new students through basic moves and demonstrate more complicated moves to advanced students with ease. Aerial silks were very fun for me to learn on, and consist of two strands of silks to work with. I started off at the studio with Lynn's Aerial Silks class on Saturdays, and was immediately hooked. Lynn is very accommodating to new students and remained unruffled by my many failed attempts on the silks. Another class with Aerial Silks during the week is Ivanna's Wednesday conditioning class. This class is both useful and enjoyable because much of the time consists of conditioning to better strengthen the body for aerial moves. Class always ends on a fun note, as Ivanna finishes by teaching a new move on the silks. Both Lynn and Ivanna possess a grace and strength I highly envy, and I would not be surprised to someday see them win American Ninja Warrior or something similar. The aerial hammock classes on Monday and Friday are taught by Rubi, the studio owner. Although she hasn't been in the aerial arts as long as some of the other teachers, she knows enough to competently teach her classes. As a further sign of her dedication, I know she takes regular lessons to expand her own knowledge of the hammock. I always leave these classes black and blue, but with a deep sense of accomplishment from learning new moves. Side note: the silks and hammocks do leave bruises, but they lessen as you grow stronger and more proficient. Art Flying Yoga also offers classes on the ground. I highly enjoyed Rubi's Rymenmy Yoga classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Each is an intensive session of her own creation, a mix between yoga and other styles. Usually she focuses each class on a certain goal, such as developing better balance, or stretching out the hips. Thanks to her class, I managed to achieve full splits on both sides, a feat I haven't ever accomplished before!!! Rubi is encouraging, but also pushes you to try your hardest. Any class with her is a fun class! I did attempt some of the other yoga classes, trying Flying Yin Yoga with Unni and Flying Vinyasa Flow. These classes are much more relaxing and move at a slower pace. Both make use of the lower aerial hammocks. Unfortunately, I suffered a bit of motion sickness from my time in the hammocks. Unni was very understanding after I expressed my concerns and informed me that accommodations can be made for students with similar problems. I also took a few of the Zumba classes offered and had a blast! The music is so upbeat and the moves are relatively simple. It's a great way to trick yourself into doing cardio, especially if you hate cardio as much as I do. Overall, this is a great studio. I found not only a place to develop strength and ability (my arms are so much stronger!), but also managed to develop courage and friendship as well. I highly recommend it to all my friends and anyone else who is searching for a fun yet challenging source of exercise with a friendly and encouraging atmosphere. read more

I was not new to aerial when I first began going to Art Flying Yoga a year ago. However, I'd only taken classes sporadically, due to not being able to find a studio that was conveniently located to me or that accommodated my schedule. I've mainly taken the hoop and flying yoga classes, since silk and aerial hammock really cause my hands to cramp up (yay for getting older and arthritic!). I've also taken several regular floor yoga classes. Though they are all challenging, surprisingly I've found the restorative and yin classes to be the most helpful - it's harder than you think taking that hour to just focus on your body and breathe. I'm really enjoying the Sunday morning meditation classes that Rubi just started as well. The instructors are all enthusiastic and eager to guide you, no matter where you are in your journey and what fitness level you're at. I highly recommend checking out the studio - everybody should experience the feeling of flying at least once in their life! read more

Yoga is the only exercise that truly heals my lower back pain, and I've been practicing for about 10 years. I signed up at Art Flying Yoga for the traditional yoga classes and they're amazing. The teachers Rubi, Nicole give personal attention, that really makes a difference. One day I showed up to the Aerial Yoga classes and it really blew my away. Using the hanging silk hammock thing supports stretches even deeper and safer than traditional restorative or ashtanga. You can really let go and sink into the poses and be supported, that's crucial for my lower back. Also the Aerial Yoga shredded my stomach, well at least internally! For four days after my first class my lower stomach muscles were sensitive, love that feeling! It's a great place, check out the Aerial, it's way more of a workout and stretch burner than you will ever imagine! read more

I fell in love with this studio the very first class I attended. The instructors are supportive and extremely passionate to teach. Each student showed the same amount of passion in supporting me as a new student helping and encouraging one another to develop in the Ariel. I have been a dedicated student for a little over two months and couldn't imagine not having this as a part of my exercise routine. I have never been overweight but in as little as 2 weeks I noticed the affect that Ariel had on my body. My friends and family compliment me all the time on my new physique, and I always tell them how fun and easy it is to achieve it. You honestly don't even feel like your working out! I have been at the Art Flying Yoga Studio since it opened. I wasn't a believer in Yoga until I met Rubi and the rest of the crew there. I feel so welcome and when I finish a class I am so calm and feel like a new person. I am hooked and hate to miss any class. I am a senior (73) and there are classes geared for us. When I first started I was stiff and had a hard time. I have improved so much! My flexibility has improved, my joints are able to stretch more without pain!!! I would advise anyone young or old to give it a try because if I can do it so can you. The students are all there for one reason YOGA! Everyone gets along and the instructors are awesome. I was very disappointed with my first experience at this studio. With three other girls, who were all to aerial yoga, I waited outside the studio for 15 minutes for the Friday night class. The instructor, Veronica, never showed up. There was no note, no cancellation notice, nothing. Feeling more sorry for the other girls, I was extremely disappointed at the lack of professionalism this no-show exhibited. The woman who was closing up the studio didn't even know who Veronica was, even though the girls I was waiting with had spoken with a supervisor previously to set up the class, and was very unhelpful. She said she had to close up (even though it was only 7:45) and didn't stick around to see if the teacher would show. I understand that people live busy lives and stuff happens, but that was an hour (due to driving and then waiting) out of my Friday night wasted. read more
