This year was my second visit to Art Omi. The first visit was 5 years ago, right in the height of of the pandemic. (Perfect place to explore since it's all outdoors). We were very lucky to get a perfect bright sunny day and had a wonderful time exploring everything. The pieces are all very different - ranging from a giant tombstone-esque grocery list to a series of ladders that lead to an underground tunnel. I registered ahead of time for a 2 hour staggered arrival window , as is suggested due to limited parking. Despite an apparent field trip there, I had no issues parking. I went to Storm King a few years ago, and although I have lived in this area since 2008, I've never made it to Art Omi. What a magical place. While it is 120 acres compared to Storm King's 500, you can easily make a day of your outing, with 2-3 hours to walk the grounds and see all the exhibits, then have a picnic or stop by the cafe. There is also a small art installation inside the visitor center. This is a magical place, with nature and art. I ended up walking 4 miles and I think I saw it all. read more

Exploring the sculpture gardens at Art Omi was a highlight of our trip to the Hudson Valley! There are lots of large-scale art and architecture installations to check out as you walk throughout the 120 acres of beautiful grounds. There was even something for my not-super-crazy-about-art husband! He loved the interactive Orange Functional or, as we called it, the basketball tree! This is a first-rate sculpture park, especially if you appreciate rougher looking, more conceptual, interactive works of art, than you might find at a venue featuring more refined pieces -- such as Storm King. As an art student in the early 1970's, conceptual art was my primary genre of interest -- so I found many of the pieces here to be quite engaging. Be forewarned that the park is huge and there are substantial walks over uneven ground as you wander from sculpture to sculpture. It was a hot, sunny day when we visited so be sure to bring your water bottle and sun screen. There are some better foot paths to sculptures close to the visitor's center so guests with mobility issues can see quite a few pieces -- but pieces far from the entrance, deep in the woods, may be too difficult for some visitors to get to. An added bonus is that you can bring your doggies to appreciate the art too! Apparently there is no set fee to visit the park, though donations are appreciated and we certainly left one. You can also buy merch in the guest center -- so we did that too. All in all it was a day trip worth making the drive up from Hoboken. read more

One of my absolute places in all of the Hudson Valley. The past few years we go here on an annual pilgrimage, not only are the grounds, stunning speckled with absolutely fascinating and creative art, on a giant scale, it's also dog friendly. We often find our shelves here in October and love spending the entire day, roaming around interacting with the exhibits and letting our dogs taken all the sniffs. Over the past few years various new exhibits have entered the fray as well as a rotating experience inside the facility as well. It is the perfect place to get lost and find yourself. read more

Wow! Art Omi is an unexpected treasure in upstate NY! The facilities are simple yet beautifully designed. And to top it off, your furry friends are welcomed. An outdoor art museum where dogs are allowed - it's a dream come true for dog parents and art lovers alike. We spent about 2.5 hours walking around the grounds. You go at your own pace so there's really no pressure to hurry up and move on to the next piece of art. Our favorite ones were the interactive sculptures and architecture. They ask for a $15 dollar donation per person which is reasonable. There are 120 acres to explore! Before walking around the grounds, you have to register your dog but that takes about 2 minutes. Overall, we felt it was worth our drive from Woodstock and would recommend it to others who are looking for something to do outside. Our favorite exhibit was the basketball tree. My one recommendation would be to have a couple of dog waste trashcans around the property! And maybe a snack cart set up outside somewhere! After we were finished, the cafe was closed - they are open till 4 tho so we could have been better about planning. read more

Art Omi is an absolute gem! While Storm King Art Center is much larger and probably gets more attention, Art Omi is equally as impressive and I had an amazing time there. Very cool art installations, many of which are interactive, and they have some temporary rotating exhibits too. Last time I was there you could actually check out a basketball from their main office to play with one of their installations. The grounds are expansive and beautiful, and they have areas where you can picnic when the weather is nice. Pro tip: when Storm King is absolutely jam packed (especially during the fall and on weekends with NYers trying to escape the city), come out to Art Omi to avoid the traffic and crowds for a similar type experience. Having visited Storm King on a previous vacation to the Hudson Valley, we were a bit underwhelmed by many of the works of art included in this sculpture park. We managed to walk around a good portion of the park including the wooded area so hopefully we saw a good sampling of what is offered. In any case, we were happy with the time spent, but I am not be inclined to rush back. read more

I had a wonderful time visiting Art Omi. it's very similar to deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln,Ma. the big difference as mentioned is that it has far more hills and the pathways are much smaller and not as well kept. definitely bring a hat, sunscreen, good walking sneakers and/or boots. The visitor center also offers a small indoor gallery, free water fills up, restrooms, and patio seating in the shade. The staff were also incredibly nice and very knowledgeable. honestly worth the $10.00 on the weekends. please give them a visit and a donation if you can. read more

Absolutely beautiful way to spend a sunny weekend day. My boyfriend and I walked through the park for hours exploring all of the sculptures and beautiful scenery. Facilities were clean and paths were cleared. (Lots of dogs too!!) Our favorite sculptures were the Cube, basketballs, and tunnels. read more

Went here on a cool fall day with my fiancé and my best friend. It was a really nice day trip. We went here early on a weekday, and parking was plentiful at this time. It's a hidden gem tucked away upstate about 2.5 hrs away from the city, but it's worth the drive. We spent about 2 1/2 hours strolling through the grounds. The grounds are vast, so you're able to be at a safe distance from people. You'll find yourself admiring really cool sculptures while walking through beautiful landscapes and fall foliage. There aren't any paved paths, so wear comfy shoes. Right now, the cafe is closed, but you can bring your own food and have a picnic on the grounds or sit at one of the picnic tables. Overall, it was a lovely escape from the city. Would definitely recommend going here, especially on a beautiful day. Plus it's free ;) read more

The best sculpture garden in the area no matter the weather! We've been here in the spring and winter and it's the best place to bring children and dogs! You can easily spend an hour and a half here admiring each individual sculpture. Many of the sculptures are interactive. Our favorite is the moving house on a tower- it moves with the wind! We also loved the stationary ship which is fun to climb. If you have snowshoes, skis, or sleds it's a perfect place to go sledding or cross country skiing with the family. We really love coming here every season. They change the sculptures often and keep them interesting! Definitely come by and spend the day here- and best part it's FREE!! This place is special because this is where we showed my fiancés parents our ring for our engagement! Forever always will love Art Omi! read more

Coming from Brooklyn, It was definitely a long drive but it's definitely worth it especially if you have good company. We came on a Saturday afternoon and there was a good amount of people, luckily there was still parking available. Social distancing is practice and it is spacious enough for everyone to have their own space. Definitely need a good 3-4 hours to explore and see all the art sculptures. It is dog friendly which is another plus. We capture a lot of awesome shots and definitely recommend this place. read more

This place is amazing. A very nice place to visit on a Sunny Sunday afternoon. When we first arrived the parking lot was full so we drove to nearby Samascott Garden Market and had some of their delicious ice cream and then came back. It's hard to cover the whole place in one day so we plan to come back soon. Lots of art to admire and ponder on scattered among the bucolic rolling grounds. Our group included adults, teens and kids and everyone had something to enjoy. After walking around we enjoyed a late picnic lunch on the grounds. All in all a good day. read more

My friend planned a day trip here, and to be honest, I'd never heard of it. I have to say though that we had an amazing time, and now whenever anyone asks for suggestions in the surrounding area or outside of the city, I always suggest this place. The space is a sculpture grounds of about 120 acres, which includes art from several artists. We were allowed to walk around the park and the wooded area and explore the sculptures independently. We were encouraged to interact with some of them also; one included an inflatable that we climbed inside. Like any gallery, some of the work seems to be from a permanent collection and others are guest pieces. One of the only issues was that there were quite a few bugs in the wooded areas...but that's nature I guess. There was also a small indoor space with a cafe and more traditional art gallery. This places is definitely worth a visit if you're looking for something to do for a few hours in the area. It definitely feels a bit more intimate and personal than some of the larger sculpture parks nearby. read more

My friend's family has had a lake house near Omi International Arts Center for years. When I was invited to go there for the weekend, I tried to find local activities and came across this outdoor sculpture park. I made the suggestion to my friend, who was shocked that he had never heard of the place. It turned out that the day that we were looking to visit was also the opening reception for their summer exhibit, so they had additional attractions, such as a tractor ride, live dance performance, complementary wine and lemonade, free popcorn, and more. We started our excursion by sharing two lunch sandwiches from their Café. There was a Special Chicken Sandwich, as well as the Grilled Cheese on Multi-Grain bread with mozzarella, grilled vegetables, tomatoes, and spicy pepper pesto. Both came with side salads. The café billed itself as farm-to-table, and the sandwiches were really delicious! (Keep in mind that the menu is small, but has great options.) While this park was smaller than the more popular, nearby Storm King, I found it much more manageable, and, frankly, the art was much more unique and interesting. The staff also seemed more engaged in the facility and its offerings. A day at the Omi International Arts Center would be a day well-spent! read more

Huge space, so many outdoor sculptures that fun to take ur pic to post on you IG. There are wild lives around including fly bugs tick and stuff. So you all should be aware. You can definitely do a nice picnic there for sure. We got there by3:30 we didn't even hve enuff time to enjoy everything but 90% of it. We enjoyed it very much we left there right around 8pm. Random, unintended finds like Art Omi are my favorite part of traveling. We saw a sign and took a detour and ended up at this absolutely amazing sculpture park that was pretty big and best of all it was free! You could roam around the grounds at your own pace and really take in the art. I don't want to ruin the displays for anyone because part of the fun is walking along and seeing what you come upon. It goes pretty far back into the woods and it seems this is a popular place for dog walkers so we made some four legged friends along the way. My two favorite sculptures were 'Matrimony' which is a visually stunning intertwined "person" sculpture and one that depicted a traditional Dutch house with the reflection of the water melting into the facade all made from Styrofoam. There's something for everyone visually as you walk the grounds. read more

Don't come here expecting Storm King 2.0. I only start my review with this statement because I know a lot of pretentious fucks tend to escape the city for art on the weekends. The grass and landscaping isn't in the best condition, but the entire park is free and dog friendly. The art itself is pretty decent. The park is fairly large and a nice place to spend half the day. It's also 17 minutes from Hudson, a quaint town with the most out-of-touch, lower-upper class people who are woke for the sake of relevancy. read more

Wow, I discovered this place by doing a google search for local museums in my area. This is an outdoor sculpture park that is FREE to all and people are welcome to bring their dog(s). Although I haven't been to Storm King, I imagine it's probably much like that. They also have a small gallery in their visitor center. They also have a cafe and I had a wonderful grilled cheese sandwich with a bowl of carrot ginger-is thai like soup along with lime tinged tortilla chips - all for $9. It's about an hour north of Poughkeepsie and you can get there by Route 9 or 87. It is a bit circuitous to get there; however, its' absolutely worth it! read more

Looking for something else to do in Columbia county after apple-picking, I spotted this place on Google Maps very near the farm we were driving to. How have I lived in the capital region this long and never heard of the Omi Arts Center? It's a great place to spend an hour or two walking around. I've never been to Storm King Art Center, but I imagine it's a lot like this. You pick a path and walk through an outdoor art gallery. Some pieces are standing in a field on their own. Some are tucked into the woods. Some, like one of my favorites, Picker Sculpture, really rely on the environment to exist. Picker's steel tubes are stacked on top of each other and the trees hold them in place like bookends. The best part might be the Architecture fields which contained bizarre gazebos and structures you can enter and look around. ReActor is an incredible house that sits on a pole and spins with the slightest breeze. And A Simple Network of Underground Wells and Tunnels is just that. There are even ladders to let you drop into the tunnels, and a helpful, bored assistant who has to sit nearby just in case anything goes wrong. I would definitely bring my dog here next time. There's also no admission fee. They only accept donations, and they didn't even ask for one when I went to pick up the map at the visitor center. This is an incredible, affordable attraction in Columbia county and we're lucky to have it. read more

The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that the place would be perfect with an audio guide app, but they do provide a map and each sculpture has a sign with details about it... It is a beautiful place to visit on a nice day! Wear comfortable shoes as it is a huge property and you walk on grass paths, with mellow hills up and down... book online the day before your visit... the $10 suggested donation is well worth it!! Update: there is an audio guide which I was not aware of when I visited...since I did not use the audio guide, I cannot comment on it, but I plan to go back when I have more time to visit... read more

What a fantastic space! My kids loved climbing the sculptures and the house on the pond, or I should say in the pond. The main gallery building is gorgeous and would make a fantastic setting for a wedding or party of any kind. The views from the building across the fields sprinkled with art are so calming. The large spaces and high ceilings had me and my kids wanting to move in. We didn't have any food or drinks as it is Passover so we enjoyed our own picnic outside in a glorious setting. Next time I look forward to supporting the cafe. This would also be a great place to take a date, borrow one of their big fat tire bikes and take a Picnic! They have events and special exhibits in the summer which we will be back to check out. read more

(Note: This is a review specifically for the Fields Sculpture Park. There is a separate Yelp review for the park, under which this same review, in addition to others, have been posted, if the sculpture park is what you were specifically looking for, but came upon this instead). The first thing most people think of when they hear "sculpture park" is probably Storm King, but the Fields Sculpture Park at the Omi International Arts Center should also be highly considered. Granted that its 60 acres pales in comparison to the 500 acres of Storm King, there is still a delightful and intriguing collection of art interspersed throughout a varying milieu of wooded areas, wetlands, and meadows. Although this park lacks the kinds of sculptures at Storm King that awe you with their sheer size and monstrosity, a walk through Omi gives you much more of an experience of discovery, with hidden gems and surprises scattered throughout the different settings; it's as if art is "popping up" with every twist and turn, which makes exploring the grounds all the more interesting. Oh, and did I mention that it's free? Bonus. So if you're up in the area and have a free afternoon to leisurely explore and stroll through rolling fields and wooded lands, the Fields Sculpture Park is definitely worth a visit. read more
