My mom and I had done it with other family up in Michigan before, but this was Grandma's first time, and she was nervous. However, once I got a glass of wine for her from their little bar at the counter, she started cracking jokes left and right and making friends with everyone in the class. The painting leader person gave her a sticker for being the class jokester. They had a bunch of paintings with faces cut out, so I posed as the 11th Doctor from Doctor Who and the Goblin King from Labyrinth. My mom was Olaf from Frozen, of course. The class instructor encouraged us to post our photos to social media and the person with the most likes by the end of the class got a free painting! I posted mine too late in the class to get many likes, but it was still fun for a break in the painting time. We were supposed to be painting a spirit deer (like our patronus from Harry Potter), but my mom's ended up looking like a moose, so she painted cartoon eyes so that it now resembles Bullwinkle, which completely cracks me up. I only drank half of my glass of wine, so naturally Grandma finished off the rest of mine. She had an amazing time! My only criticism is that I felt rushed the whole time - this was a shorter class than usual at an hour and a half, and I feel like I could've done a better job with another half an hour for this painting. However, thanks, Painting with a Twist, for a great family activity for three generations - even if my paintings don't turn out quite the way I want them, it's still a fun time.

So I go to this gym in Ft Wayne. Nice staff and pretty good people around with good gym etiquette…read moreetc. But since I'm staying half an hour away in Huntington, every once in awhile I get a day pass to the local Huntington YMCA to avoid the drive. I had the most bizarre experience there. I was two sets in on a cable machine and this guy in his late 20's approached me with very nervous energy. His mouth was almost chattering when he spoke like he was cold. Except he was sweating. He forcefully said "How many sets you have left?!" I said two. You can work in if you like. "I'm not trying to work out with you! Your cables are on different heights." Yes I know. When I pull them forward they end up even for some reason. "How much longer are you on here?!" Startled by his tone I step back saying well like I said two sets left but you can work in. He steps closer to me pointing and raises his voice further "you're not even doing the right work out bro! I'm NOT trying to work out with YOU!" Then storms off. The guy next to me witnesses all of this, and when the rude guy finally walks away, I look at him and say WOW! As in wow did that just happen?! The rude guy hears me say "wow" and runs back over to me yelling "Is something funny?!" I say no. "I walked away and heard you laughing!" I said look I was just trying to be polite and let you work in. He yells further "I walk away and I hear you going AHHHHHH! Is that funny to you?!" I backed off and said again "I was just trying to be polite and offer you to work in while I finish!" He yells "YOU ARE NOT EVEN DOING THE RIGHT WORK OUT!!!!" I then walked away to let him have the machine even though I wasn't finished. The two men who witnessed all of this never made eye contact with me or asked if I was ok nor stepped in. They acted stone cold as if they saw nothing. That almost pissed me off more than this nut job screaming at me for no reason. If someone had acted that way at my gym in Fort Wayne it wouldn't have been tolerated by anyone around observing it. I would have at least gone up to the guy being attacked afterwards and asked if he was ok. These witnesses didn't even look at me let alone check in. I'll never step foot in that YMCA again. So much for "Christian values" they promote. I did complain to the staff but who knows if they've done anything. Bizarre experience to say the least. Very unfriendly people all around.

She also listens to parents and helps build an environment that fits the needs of your kids (we had a rough patch, and she, along with the teachers helped us through it!). If you want a preschool where your children are engaged, learning, happy, and excited to go to school every day, La Petite is the place to be! With these changes, my daughter has come out of her shell, and is excited to tell me about what she's learning in Ms. Sammi's class (also, my daughter's convinced Ms. Sammi's a princess and I have no reason to disagree!). From the get go things seemed fine, the Director was communicative and the virtual tour was fine. However, day one was horrendous. The center is not new which is fine, the workers are varying levels of engaged. Cleanliness is questionable... Concerns noted for some cooking equipment that was being blocked by a cart, chemicals in reach of kids, but then watching the cameras: the way they workers are swapped out and inconsistent treatment of children. My maternal senses knew something was off by the way my children were acting. Husband picked up our little guy who was off camera in a bathroom with a staff member. Son was screaming in pain. Came home to find markings on his back. Daughter had witnessed mistreatment (also advocated for her own mistreatment!) Case filed, did not return. Be aware.

I know the word "control" sounds strange, but this is the word the administrator used when my nephew was drinking one of the employees hot coffee that continued to be placed on the children's table in the 2 year olds classroom. She stated she told the employees to keep their coffee out of the childrens reach, but they were not doing it. My neice had this conversation only after CPS contacted her because another parent reported her son and a list of other children drinking coffee, in addition to many other issues. This is a terrible environment for children who can not speak for themselves. Before enrolling your child, please contact the Fort Wayne CPS office for a list of complaints. I am shocked they are still in business!
