Punch list work and other complaints were never addressed properly and most importantly we had a very serious safety scare. As a licensed contractor and home inspector, this contractor took our wood burning chimney down and once the implications of that were known, he made the terrible decision to vent our furnace illegally instead of have an uncomfortable conversation with us. Our gas furnace was manufactured to vent vertically through our chimney and since CGC demoed the chimney, they made the conscious decision to illegally vent our furnace horizontally out of our house, causing a carbon monoxide back up in our home. Unfortunately, not even in this severe safety situation did we see accountability, humility or an effort to make sure we were satisfied. We are finding many short cuts and sloppy work that he will not fix. Some examples but not all encompassing include; wood cut short, wood cut crooked, bowed wall, large amounts of concrete buried in our yard instead of put in the dumpster (where there is a cost associated by weight), loud clicking from pipes in a bedroom wall due to thermal expansion, painters caulking used in the bathrooms instead of silicone caulking causing water leaks and damaged drywall. This builder decided to bury concrete, bricks and our old fence anchors in our back yard instead of haul them away (which is paid by weight).
