3.5/5! i love art and technology so i was intrigued!! overall really fun especially with friends and you've had a drink, or wanted a solo date. idk if i'd come back because of the pricey ticket haha

Love their authentic previews and spending time here with themed cocktails is magical

My friends and I went here after work and really enjoyed the experience, however, we found it wasn't as exciting or interactive as we would have liked for the money. If I remember correctly, tickets were north of $60 a person. When we entered we were able to watch the main audio visual show which was displayed on a large screen. You could sit on the ground or walk around the room. In other rooms there were some interactive bits and areas you could read more about the art and artist(s), but really can make your way through everything in under an hour. For the price and hype, it would be nice to add more interactive elements or spaces for more art.

My sister invited me to attend a free event that was at the ARTECHOUSE. This was to see their holiday installment of "Tingle Bells." After a brief introduction after check in you are led into the area of the exhibit. The top floor had several interactive digital installments where you moved your hand to knock things over or move around. There was also a bar upstairs too. Their drink menu is coordinated to the current exhibition. The drink prices are definitely on the higher side so we skipped on it. The main artsy attraction was just in the lower level downstairs. Where the walls and floors has a 20 minute video playing on repeat of the theme. The Tingle Bells had three different reels which showed donuts/sweets being made, a Tetris like video game and a Christmas homey scenery with some cute sleeping dogs. Most attendees sat on the floor or seats to watch the show. The venue also provided pillow poofs you can use to sit a little more comfortably on the floor. Overall it was just okay for us. The actual ticket price was a bit high in my opinion for what you get, but maybe I'm not artsy enough to completely justify the price per ticket people do pay to go here. Not sure if I would consider returning in the future. Just not my thing, but may be nice for others.

"Certain art cannot be described. It must be seen and experienced" -Sandro & Tati, ARTECHOUSE founders. I had a wonderful time at ARTECHOUSE with my kid. We came on a Tuesday morning at 11am, and bought tickets on the spot. A reservation was not needed, and there weren't many people in attendance that day/time. After watching a 3 minutes video that i felt was really unnecessary, we entered the space. To our left there was a bar, which was closed at the time but had a video installation where images of the people sitting at the bar would be continuously created and recreated, and projected on the screen behind the bar. On the same floor are Pantone-sponsored interactive installations that allow you to play with colors, shapes, and sounds that appear on a vertical screen in front of you. The main space is a single, large, former boiler room, where visual art is projected on all surfaces, creating a very immersive sensory experience with images, colors, and sounds. There were 5 different installations on display, each one 20 minutes long. As a neuroscientist, I particularly enjoyed the installation "Life of a neuron"[1]. I found it particularly relaxing: you just sit or lay on the floor, and let your senses be engulfed by the constantly changing and moving images and sounds around you. My kid, who is 6, enjoyed the interactive installations the most: the Pantone screens and the bar. The main one was a bit too long for his still-short attention span, although he was very curious about the story of the neuron. This is great if you want to isolate yourself from reality for 100 minutes, and just relax. I wish I went there when the bar was open, as it sounds like the XR bar also offers an interactive experience with the drinks they make[2]. ----------------------- [1] https://www.artechouse.com/news/artechouse-presents-life-of-a-neuron-nyc/ [2] https://www.artechouse.com/artechouse-xr-bar/

The show was set to run in a 20 minute cycle and we observed about 3 cycles. There was plentiful seating in the viewing area. There's also a bar that offers alcoholic drinks on top of the viewing room. *please make sure you do not bring any outside food and drinks, water bottles are allowed.* The exhibition was undeniably enjoyable and intriguing. Occasionally, it felt as though I was on a roller coaster due to the images appearing to move me along. My buddies also had a great time. There's also a small gift shop at the exit for any visitors wishing to buy mementos. Artechouse is situated in Chelsea Market, a mere 2 blocks from the ACE and PATH 14th street train station.

Think this would be a cute first date spot. I agree with other reviews that is a bit high priced for what it is - one free drink would make price = value. However, still really enjoyed the experience. We didn't see any repeat films for the hour we were at the exhibit. Most films were about 2-3 min. Some were very calming or charming, while others were a bit more distressing- kind of wish they would get rid of those. Upstairs there are some interactive exhibits that didn't work particularly well, but I liked the installation behind the bar which would develop a flower based on personal characteristics. They were also intent upon putting the benches away which I don't think encourages people to sit and view the exhibition.

Attended the ASMR Tingle Bells exhibit. Loved the keyboard one the most. Honestly it's quite fun as a chill adventure for families and young kids. A little trippy and although it's a pretty straightforward concept of digital projections that are responsive, I think the overall experience is solid. They had a bar with drinks, the people were very friendly. Maybe if the branding was a little less serious and industrial, they could attract more of the audience that were actually inside aka families with young kids

Artechouse is a classic example of an instagram trap. All the "immersive" videos and colorful projections are marketed to hell and when you actually get there, you're in a small warehouse with a projector and a gimicky bar for shmucks. When my friend and I went, there was a "World of AI Imagination" exhibit which meant that tickets were $35 dollars just for general admission. This is steep for any type of museum admission and my friend and I decided to take the chance. When our reservation time came, a worker showed us an introduction video about Artechouse and the rules of the space and led us into the "museum". The museum is technically two floors but the amount of exhibits can be toured in 30 minutes and an hour max if you really take your time. The main attraction was the big projector showing a 15 minute loop of AI animations which covers the whole downstairs space like a big umbrella. There is definitely some novelty sitting on the floor while the colorful projections wash over your skin for 15 minutes. But to pay $35 dollars for a 15 minute video of loop and the small exhibits upstairs? I could buy a projector and place it in an unfurnished room and get the same effect. The best part of the museum was the room upstairs with the interactive exhibits. There were a few pieces that responded to our body movements and the art changed based on the position in which we were standing. Outside of a great photo-op, there really isn't much to the Artechouse. Save your money and go to the Met or the MoMa. If you exhausted the big art museums in nyc, go to Soho and look at the galleries of your local artists.

I was excited to come for an immersive gallery experience but this was not it. I always see these advertisements on Instagram that look amazing, but turns out the in person experience is not the same as Instagram surprise surprise. The experience begins with a small wait in their lobby before your timed group to enter into the exhibit. You then watch a video which is them explaining the house rules but mainly advertising their bar. Afterwards there's minimal exhibits on the top floor that are supposedly motion controlled. Then downstairs is a somewhat big room with three walls and a floor full of immersive gallery art. And that's it. Basically the entire experience is one room where you watch a video for 20 minutes while sitting on the floor which is very uncomfortable. I don't know, I no longer get the hype of immersive galleries. Sure they look cool on Instagram but it feels like its just a glorified bar space that you're paying cover for. Also the 20 minute video, sure there's a lot of very beautiful graphics, does not feel immersive and honestly makes you a little dizzy. It takes less than 30 minutes to explore the entire place. Not sure I would come back again.

    Samira D.

I went to the Flashback 5 yesterday. It was beautifully done. I love coming to the immersive shows at Artechouse. There's a bench to sit on. There's also plenty of pillows you can grab to sit on the floor. The staff are friendly and welcoming and will explain the experience prior to going in. The space is smaller than other immersive light experiences I've been to though.

I had a great experience here with my mom. We started with happy hour drinks at the bar which set the tone and then we spent the rest of our time relaxing and taking it all in. Jack at the bar was great! In total we were there over an hour and 15 mins. My mom turned to me during the experience and said "I'm so happy right now." Very glad we went!

Artechouse has been on my list for sometime, especially after being recommended by a friend. I brought my family here when they came to visit NYC , and my mom really enjoyed it! This might be a nice place to bring family/friends from out of town. The room was fairly crowded on a Saturday but not uncomfortable. There are cushions available so you can sit anywhere you want on the ground, while the projectors screen a loop of visual designs. It was immersive and fun (and pretty cool for some pictures/videos), but I ultimately thought it was overpriced (~$30 per person) for a 20-minute looping video.

This package included access to all of the shows and exhibits, along with a free go at each game which was actually really cool! Not to mention we each got a free cocktail and a gift bag with some sexy goodies to share. We really liked the history exhibit, and the art gallery. The games were pretty fun too! There IS a spinning stripper pole you can dance on in the bar, so if you wanna give it a go maybe wear shorts, because I wore a dress so I wasn't able to do a lot on it unfortunately but it was still fun! IT IS LOUD!! If you have sensory issues I recommend bringing ear plugs, I'm happy I had mine with me. The music is super loud and sometimes overlapping between rooms. There are also multiple exhibits with flashing lights. The Tunnel of Love is a "4D Orgy" that "nuts" on you - which is just some water mist that sprays on your face, feet and neck a few times. I personally did not like that part, but if you cover your lower face with your hands it blocks it. You don't get wet, it's just not my favorite sensory experience. The kissing game was interesting, this one has you and your partner grab some metal bars and you have to kiss for a minute straight to win a "coupon" that you get to use on each other later. FAIR WARNING - this game sends electricity between you as you kiss since you are both grabbing the bars, this doesn't hurt you and you don't feel it, but it makes your mouths taste like METAL. We were both so concerned that we had a health problem at first but thankfully my hubby is an electrician and connected the dots really quickly. Overall a super fun day! The Monday crowd was super chill and minimal. The only thing I think that would make it better is if the staff could do a better job explaining what sensory experience you might have during each game, because it was overwhelming and sometimes uncomfortable. But I think if you come prepared with ear plugs, hand sanitizer (they do have pumps but I bring my own), and shorts under your skirt/dress, then it will be a fantastic time! Be very open minded and enjoy!

Each of the exhibits are arranged chronologically and by Broadway eras. The exhibit that stood out the most was the final one illustrating the harrowing process of how a musical even comes to be in the first place and all the people working in the backgrounds to make it happen. There are so many photo ops and the museum guides are happy to help take pics and share their overwhelming knowledge of all things Broadway. So much to see! It was difficult for me to see it all to take it all in on one visit and I would be happy to come back.

I had high hopes for this museum after seeing so many rave reviews, but the experience fell flat. I…read morewas quite disappointed at the lack of actual substance of the museum. The donated items were surprisingly sparse. The amount of space that certain exhibits had felt disproportionate to the weight that the show had on Broadway. The space of exhibits were largely not well utilized or well imagined leading to what was a sensory nightmare for most rooms. Music from a given musical would be playing loudly at the same time that an interview was playing. It was very hard to try to concentrate on what the interview was over the sound of music. You could even hear interviews/music from the previous room overlapping with the current room's interview and/or music. The Wicked Theater and 2001+ room had an audible loud buzzing that was quite annoying. I wish I had brought headphones as the experience gave me a headache. I wish that more rooms had the option to "pick up the phone" or do a similar action to hear an interview playing. Too much space was given to art exhibits which were only loosely related to Broadway, but were done more so to be an Instagram photo op. Cabaret is my favorite musical, but seeing a wall full of Cabaret chairs, and only three Cabaret costumes was extraordinarily odd. I had a feeling that I wouldn't love the museum when I saw a swing art piece for Hair. Unfortunately, I do not think that this is an accessible museum for many. There is a display with different props in boxes. I had to squat down to read some of the cards and see the exhibits--someone in a wheelchair would not be able to see those exhibits or exhibit cards high up. That's only one example of where I think that the exhibits and museum are not accessible. The drawings done by Al Hirschfeld were one of my favorite parts of the museum. In my opinion, your time can be better spent catching a Broadway show or going to a different museum. I almost booked a ticket instead of seeing a 2:00pm show the day before and I would have been even more disappointed if I had missed out on seeing another show for this.

I gathered some friends, found a 20% off discount code, and we all headed over to The Shed's sprawling, modern space to check it out. Upon entering The Shed, we were basically in a large lounge, which also had a bar and various seating arrangements. My friend and I grabbed a drink at Cedric's, the downstairs bar, and waited for the rest of our group to arrive (please see separate review for Cedric's at the Shed - https://www.yelp.com/biz/cedrics-at-the-shed-new-york-3?hrid=CELSOa2pnnpkj01Q1f57fQ). When we were all settled up, we headed up the escalator into the 2 large showrooms. The story of the exhibit was interesting, in that the amusement park art display from various talents had debuted in Germany in 1987. There had been plans for it to travel the world, but after the curator, André Heller, passed away, many of the pieces had been tucked away in shipping containers to only be discovered recently. Overall, the exhibit was full of colorful and fun pieces, though I wish there had been even more interactive elements. If I had not been there with a large group, I probably could have made it through the two spacious rooms in a half hour. However, we took our time, as there were some circus-type performers that would wander around every so often, and we wanted to witness the show. All in all, we were there for about an hour, which was more than enough. I felt that Luna Luna was definitely lighthearted and amusing, but I would not really call it a must-see.

I bought the tickets at the venue to avoid the random online fees. There was a lot of cool info about the history of Luna Luna, artists, pieces. I was super confused about Drake being involved but then again not surprised...diversify your portfolio LOL. There were a couple of things to walk into and experience, a lot of reading, you can't actually ride any of the rides. The view from the Butterfly Bar on the fourth floor was super cool! I'm a fan of infinity type of rooms so to see the 2 rooms that you could go into and interact in be that type...I enjoyed! Took us about an hour and a half to walk thru it and read things. Kids were there but I don't know if it makes sense to bring younger kids, I would probably pass on doing that.
