Artemis is a truly outstanding yoga studio. I have been a member here for about four months and have attended workshops and occasional classes here for years. I really feel that Artemis supports my yoga practice. The studio is clean, peaceful, comfortable, and well-appointed. The studio has classes and workshops in all the major yoga traditions: flow, Ashtanga, Iyengar, etc. There are standard classes as well as innovative workshop offerings. I participate primarily in the Iyengar program. The studio has some of the best and most expert Iyengar teachers in the Boston area and offers two Iyengar classes most days of the week at a variety of levels at convenient times. The atmosphere at Artemis is relaxed and genuinely friendly. The front desk staff gets to know each student and greets them by name. The classes are small enough for the faculty to get to know each student and offer helpful adjustments and feedback. The owner and the community are quite friendly as well. There is ample street parking. The neighborhood is convenient with a nearby Star Market, CVS, and hardware store across the street in case you want to combine class and errands. read more

My last review was 1/13/17, so 3 years later, here I am again to follow up. I honestly don't know where to start, so this might be a bit of a run-on sentence! Long/short. I knew for years that I wanted to try yoga. To like it enough to have it become part of my lifestyle. I had no idea, no freaking idea, that it would become one of THE most important parts of my life! Yoga to me has become parallel to drinking water every day. I can't live without it. I know100% that this profound transformation is because of Artemis, the owner, Liz Padula, and the teachers. For me, Alex Amorosi stands head and shoulders above (literally and figuratively). His personality, teaching, wisdom, honesty, kindness, and genuineness is rolled up in his 6'5" amazingness! I will never find the appropriate words of gratitude for the gift he bestows on me 3 times a week (plus workshops) and on others. Alex is, in a word, a gift! And to be very fair, the other teachers are incredible! I just wish I could take classes twice a day!! Tracy, Amanda, Liz Reiser, Sue G. Rahel, JoAnne,etc...all fantastic! I'm in town for a week and visited this yoga studio today. It's laid out well and has upgraded its air cleaning/circulation systems during the pandemic. The 11:00 Iyengar Yoga class was wonderful. I hadn't done yoga in awhile and had some physical challenges that I shared with instructor. She helped me modify as needed. I felt safe, stretched, and very relaxed when I was done. Can I do 10 stars!? I've been practicing Iyengar yoga for nearly 30 years, and Artemis is simply superb, a warm and welcoming studio and a true community. The space is bright and spotless. The teachers are top-flight, attentive, and careful, modifying poses to suit individual abilities (even in COVID Zoom classes!). The range of classes and educational sessions is impressive. I have never taken a yoga class in my life. Heck, the last fitness class I took was High School gym. My sister is an avid yoga practitioner, and she talked me into taking a class with her. She loves this studio and raves about the awesome teachers. I knew practically nothing about yoga going into this class, and expected to make a total fool of myself. Turns out I'm not that bad at it. The instructor was very nice and calm. Whenever we did a pose she would emphasize that if we did not feel comfortable doing that pose we did not have to, or she would offer an alternative pose. The class was attended by people who clearly had been practicing yoga for a long time, and others (like me) who would look around at times wondering wtf was going on. If I decide to take more yoga classes, I would definitely return to this studio. It was spotless, and so well organized. The cleanliness and quality of teachers is really good, I went to three different classes with 3 different teachers. The overall pace is slower and much less of a "workout" than other yoga studios (even the more "intense" classes), however that does not mean it is bad, it just might not be right for you. read more

I practice at this great place on Mt Auburn Street right near the new CVS in Coolidge Sq. Watertown - Artemis Yoga. I Love the place (light, airy and immaculate), the instructors (too good for words), Liz Padula - owner/instructor (genuine, warm encouraging, talented); many options for classes (are amazing) and attendees bring positive energy - at any level of their practice. I was referred to Artemis by a neurologist to address an ailment (or 2) - and she encouraged me to try Restorative Yoga. Well this was the best advise I had received in a long time and the absolute best choice I have made this past year for my well being. Artemis Yoga has been and continues to be a place to enhance my strength and quiet my mind's chit chat. Practicing at Artemis Yoga has helped to also clear some of the mud that sometimes clouds up perspective - and this studio is a place of calming and warm receptivity. I'm thankful for my choice to join Artemis Yoga and for the opportunity the studio and my practice offers me and for the gift and benefits I continue to receive " on and off the mat". And for those you (us) who think and feel "I can't do this", "I will feel silly" "I won't be as good as others" - you will be surprised at the confidence and motivation you (we) will gain with your practice who are led by these really effective instructors. Each have their own special approach, each bring something similar AND offer their own signature gems into the space of practice. This is a great place. I'm relatively new to yoga (3 months of regular practice 3-5 times a week) and have been to yoga classes at a few other studios in the past, and have really found this to be a great place to learn so far. Supportive, helpful, clearly explain each pose. The studio itself is beautiful. Warm, soft colors, very clean, pleasant staff. Many different instructors so you get a little of everything. I've gone to many yoga classes in a variety of studios, and hands down prefer Artemis over anyone else. The whole vibe is welcoming yet very professional; the instructors really know their stuff but always keep it very relatable. The owner, Liz Padula, takes great care in treating customers well (I have had the chance to talk to her a few times whilst there) and you know it's more than a business for her, it's a vocation. The studio is insanely clean and really reasonably priced (I've read reviews that say it's expensive, and I that isn't my experience at all). I can't recommend Artemis highly enough. But the yoga instructors are all very passionate about teaching. I joined about a month ago and love the fact they have yoga classes starting at 6:00am. Sadly, I don't take classes here anymore since moving to Canton but wish I could've moved the studio with me. Mary's 6:00am morning flow is what got me hooked. I joined the first week the studio opened for business - right before the Holidays. The facility is wonderful - everything is brand new - inviting reception area, plenty of lockers, soft colors, ceiling fans and lightning that is easy to adjust. Heat is at 73-76 degrees, which is perfect. One of the walls in the main room has ropes which I tried for the first time ever and loved it. Liz Padula is the best to teach technique. If you are new to yoga, this is the right place to learn the basic positions in the Level 1 class. Other studios I have been to just make you join the flow without much explaining even in beginner classes. Liz takes the time to explain the positions and walks around to assist participants. Caitriona's Level 1 - Flow is also very enjoyable. She really helps you focus on alignment and your breath. I appreciate how they offer alternatives to flow moves for those of us with bodily pains.
