Just had my first massage/body work session with Pradhuman today. He was strongly recommended by a friend of mine so I finally made an appointment and am so very glad I did! I was not in actual pain, but definite discomfort in a few areas and just have not been feeling generally well in over a month. Right now I am feeling better than I have in a while and will be seeing Pradhuman at least once a month. It is hard to explain what the massage is like. It is not your typical full-body rub and knead. He focuses on areas of pain or discomfort that you tell him about...and others that he divines on his own. He is incredibly intuitive and a very joyful person to be around. This is like trying to describe what a deep forest or a waterfall sounds and smells like. I attended the open house a few weeks back and decided to join my friend (who is a yoga teacher) in attending one of the classes. Until then, my yoga experience had been minimal at best. I went to Emily's Monday night Fire class, and oh boy. It was a mind opening experience. Emily is knowledgeable and friendly. She never makes you feel uncomfortable or unwelcome. Her voice is very soothing and her teaching style is awesome, especially for someone who is as new to yoga as I am. I came for 9am yoga on Thursday, October 23 with my mother (Nilgun) and took Sally's wonderful 1.5 hour class. It was a really nice studio; gorgeous space with lots of props and its very clean. Parking is really easy, too (2 hours on the street with coffee at Sofra right there, too!). Sally is clearly a really skilled practitioner; her cues were very explicit and with each pose she gave background as to how it would help with stress/physical relief/etc. I would highly recommend her really great restorative class :-) The age groups was well over 50 but I still felt included and taken care of as a younger person in the class! It's a little unbelievable I haven't written a review of Namo yoga yet. Maybe the truth is I want to keep it to myself, but I guess that's not really fair. I love Namo Yoga. You can not go wrong with any class here--I've met most of the teachers though I haven't taken classes from everyone and they are all awesome and really nice people. This studio is really a community place--it's not snooty like a lot of studios and it has a spiritual vibe but in a down-to-earth way. I love Vito's class and never miss it--if I could afford more yoga I'd go to other instructor's courses, but I'm a grad student so for now I'm sticking with one day a week. Seriously, if you are considering Namo Yoga take the plunge, it's a great studio. read more

The teachers here are excellent. Sally is fabulous for easy going injury recovery. I highly recommend her class if you are on the comeback trail and need some activity. The Namo yoga style is nice too. We took a class and the instructor was verbal and like all good beginner yoga teachers, he walked us through everything and kept us focused. We also took an Alexander Technique class here which was very helpful in posture development. As I go more I may upgrade my review to 5 stars. I have gone here twice to see Santosh and he's amazing. Within two minutes he was able to see all of the crazy stuff that's wrong with my body. Pretty awesome. Then he thwacked me around (in a good way) for about 75 minutes. Santosh is incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and made me feel very at ease. He also taught me a lot of stuff about anatomy during my sessions, and I have found this information to be very helpful (especially being a yoga teacher). After both sessions I left feeling great. This place is really special for many of the reasons mentioned by others. In my life, I choose to be around ppl and places if I like their energy. The energy here is relaxing, clean, and beautiful. The teachers are kind, skilled, warm, and very nurturing with zero attitude. So far, I have only taken a couple of classes, and both times the teachers gave lots of assistance with the props, because they wanted to make sure you were really comfy, and yet getting the most benefit out of the pose/shape, in the best way for your body. I want to thank all of them especially for today. Today, Namo had a yoga class and fundraiser dedicated to healing ourselves and others who have been affected by the Marathon and it's aftermath. It was very accessible in that you could give whatever donation you chose to. Reiki practicioners were also there to lend a hand in the healing process. It was really moving and really powerful, and helped me let go of the trauma of being around these events, and to send healing to everyone. The windows are also big and bright, and sunshine flows in through amber colored sheer curtains that luff in the wind, and beautiful plants, and the high ceilings add to the spacious ambiance--aah. Hatha class with Sally was amazing! It's really great if you are recovering from an injury (especially back pain/sciatica/herniated disc). I was able to do almost all of the moves without any pain and felt pain free for most of the day afterwards. I only wish there were more hatha/gentle classes at night so I could come more often! read more

The best kept secret in Cambridge! There are classes for all levels, and they are really focused on making sure yoga practice is safe and still challenging. The space is beautiful, and unlike other Cambridge studios, the classes are not too crowded! Good variety of classes and teaching styles. Skilled bodyworkers are hard to find. Santosh has a brilliant ability to see the human body, but he's not the only massage therapist or bodyworker at Om Namo to see the body and be able to treat and heal smartly... I recently started seeing Pablo for massage. As a yoga teacher, I'm pretty aware of what's up in my body. The first time I saw Pablo, he noticed the intricacies of my postural pattern and the subtle misalignments in my body. His awareness put me at ease, even when he was working incredibly tender places in my body. Separately, I started acupuncture with Pat a few weeks ago. I was hesitant because I hadn't previously had a good experience with acupuncture. Pat is super kind, gets you chatting in a disarming way and genuinely loves her work. After I finished the appointments I had a coupon for, I rebooked because seeing her was such a treat. Looking forward to more. read more

I was booked with Alecia for a therapeutic massage and she did not disappoint! She asked me several questions prior to our massage to get to know my routine and any pains/discomfort I've been experiencing. The instructors are very diverse and talented. I think ive taken classes with all of them at least once. I do have my favorites but nothing to stop me from taking a class with a different instructor.. They are professional yet keep it cozy and not snobby. it is a clean place and would hope they would offer hot yoga soon. I initially went to OM for treatment of lower back pain. After doing chiropractic and PT for a year with no improvement, a friend recommended Santosh. Right away he seemed to know what the problem was and after only two treatments my back started feeling a lot less stiff and painful. Now my back is doing well so he is working on pain on my left hip. There is always something with our aging bodies...What is great is that he works at "re-balancing" your entire body at the same time. I haven't done any yoga classes yet but i did a pain relief and relaxation workshop yesterday which was so calming and relaxing with different practitioners helping you along. I am planning to try the Community Acupuncture because i have never done it and i am curious about it. It is a great way to explore that avenue at very reasonable price. I have been going to the community acupuncture at Namo on Wednesdays and Fridays since the beginning of the summer and have had great results. I used to suffer from sinus headaches and lots of sore throats, but Nancy and Pat have weened me off my allergy meds and I feel great! I was skeptical about the efficacy of acupuncture and other forms of oriental medicine, but I thought I would give it a try. Wow. Laura Corrigan, one of the owners, was not only able to zero in on my primary issue, but improved some secondary issues that I had learned to live with. She explained that they were all connected and that she was treating an imbalance that caused the issue in the first place. Great venue but... I returned from working abroad after a few months to find the great yoga teacher That had taken the class had been replaced. Patty was a wonderful inspirational teacher. Its just not the same without her. It all seemed a little chaotic on the night I returned. The new teacher seemed very nice but a different person than had been advertised. As a yoga practitioner and fitness-oriented person who has been to countless studios and gyms in the last decade all over the northeast, I have to publicly recommend OM NAMO. I've been going there for about three years now and its unusual combination of classes--yoga, biomechanics, strength training--and its therapeutic sessions in massage, acupuncture, sports-injury treatments--are phenomenal. Santosh created this unique place and runs it with the help of knowledgeable, caring, and fun people. He/they have a philosophical approach to wellness that is grounded in a deep understanding of anatomy and the technical/spiritual interrelatedness among the body, mind, and spirit: which is how genuine strength is built. Every class is also infused with humor and practical information on how to integrate yogic/bodily wellness into daily life. And the people in the classes are NICE! very welcoming place. Of special note are classes taught by: Santosh, Dan B., Rob Stephenson, Esteban, Tom, and Nicole. And acupuncturist George and massage therapists Pablo and Par (and Santosh, who requires especially advanced bookings) are exceptionally talented. This is not an "ivory tower" or temple-zoned studio, nor is it a wishy-washy New Age venue or a "power yoga" center, where the purpose of this ancient tradition is obscured or reduced to an exercise routine. But these practitioners do truly know and teach the power of yoga. Classes and therapies induce both conscious, efficient fitness AND richer well-being: body work that unites breath and bone.
