The hotel provided a complimentary breakfast. The front service were very friendly and gave free cookies when available and all day coffee. I was able to use their washer and dryer too. Mini fridge, single serve coffee maker and snacks in the room, refreshed daily. (Breakfast snacks are in place of the continental breakfast which hasn't returned yet after Covid.) Room 4 has two beds, separated by a sliding barn door, with a step up into the bathroom area. The common room with water, coffee maker toaster, TV, table etc is super cozy and we enjoyed watching TV there at night after dinner next door. Highly recommend staying here and eating next door. *The restaurant next door does have live music several nights a week and it can be heard from some of the room areas. They provide ear plugs on the nightstands in case this bothers you, it didn't affect us.

I'm going to try to be as fair as I can with this review, but I am not happy…read more I had some business in Carlsbad, NM, the next town south of here. Carlsbad has become an oil town that is booming so it's nearly impossible to get a hotel room. I found this hotel which seemed reasonable and booked 2 nights. Plans were changing rapidly so when I checked in I immediately told the young lady at the desk that I probably would be staying only one night. No problem she tells me just cancel with the third party provider, Expedia, before check in the following day. I did as instructed, but the manager "Sammie", refused to honor the cancellation even though I followed the hotels instruct. So now I do a little research on this hotel. Turns out it used to be a Holiday Inn Express, but when Holiday Inn wanted them to renovate and upgrade, they said NO, and gave up the Holiday Inn franchise. Turns out they are in financial trouble so I guess any revenue they get in, they'll do anything to keep it, even lie. From what I saw and heard, this hotel won't be around very much longer. On the one night I did stay there were only about five cars in the parking lot, including mine. Look, aside from the need to renovate and upgrade, it's not horrible, you almost feel like you're in an old Holiday Inn. BTW, they still use the old HIE code for wifi access. There breakfast is minimal at best, less than what Holiday inn used to give. On the day we did stay we chose to go to a local restaurant for breakfast. So a lie and bad customer relations got them an extra one night of money. If Sammie can sleep at night then so be it. When I go back I will not be staying there, no way, and I will let everyone one I meet there no about their dishonest practices.

Lady who checked me in was friendly and quick. The room I was put in was on the back side of the motel. Which was not presentable. There was furniture outside and indications of a remodel going on. No room numbers on the doors so took a little to even find my room. You could tell that the room was a remodel under way. Sections of the wall still not repainted, linoleum in the bathroom coming up. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable except for that the base of the bed made a noise every time I roller over. It was not a relaxing place to stay.
