They are so friendly and knowledgeable. They can explain alignment and movement down to the muscles and bones, e.g., pelvis and tail bone alignment. No other teachers had explained it so thoroughly. Their barre and combinations are fun and challenging enough so that every time I feel I learned something new. I usually take Monday drop-in adult class with Laura and Friday class with Marcie. Marcie and Laura helped correct my problem of overarching my chest effectively. Before, other teachers had mentioned I overarched. But I didn't quite know to what extent or how to do it otherwise. I see it's a common issue with many amateur dancers because everyone wants to try it hard and be expressive. Marcie padded my stiff chest. Laura corrected me with friendly smiles. I learned from them that I should brace my rib cage instead of opening my chest, but broaden my upper back and collar bone instead. Marcie also showed how to relax my face and neck and use breathing effectively with every plie. These all tremendously helped my alignment and balance so that I have become stronger for so many moves including arabesque and develope. I used to get back pain from overarching and pinching my back muscle. Not anymore. What a life saver! I feel I am a stronger and more elegant amateur ballet dancer now. It's definitely hard to seriously tackle ballet at my age of 50. But I feel I gradually improve. I even started to choreograph my own solo to music I love. Ballet nurtures my mind and also exercises my body. I want to keep dancing it for the rest of my long life.

My first class years ago was taught by Nick Lazzarini, winner of season one of SYTYCD. Keith and Lisa are amazing people and great instructors. When you go to a class, you will get personal attention and will really improve your dance technique. They've got classes of all ages, all sorts of styles of dance, it's great. The bad reviews really caught me by surprise. Definitely need to go back for some classes, I really miss dance. Just got to get my flexibility back before I go back, and summon up the courage. I found Mambonova, ironically through Yelp, and am so glad I did! I have taken levels 1-3 for salsa as well as 2 bachata classes here. He teaches salsa on2 and the classes usually look like this: -Stretching and warm up -Footwork -practice with music -Partner work -Practice with music At the end of every class he demonstrates everything again slowly with counts and lets you record so you can practice on your own! Hector really encourages all the students to practice outside of class as he is very mindful of his students learning time. I've met so many new people through Mambonova and through latin dance! When I started a little over a year ago, I had no dance experience but was curious and looking for something, although I wasn't sure what. I found a mentor and a whole community. Mashuqa's mentorship is comprehensive. She has experience and wisdom beyond measure, but she combines it with truly seeing the individual student. Her instruction, the Ma*Shuqa method, is ideal for beginners and professionals. Over the last year, I have begun appreciating how layers of well-researched ideas (complete with handouts) come together to provide experience-targeted understanding. I am proud to mention that I am her student in the dance community, and have often been told how lucky I am to live near enough to take classes from her. She regularly shares stories from her International travels to highlight learning concepts and brings out new music from her recently published reviews. In Ma*Shuqa's Diva Retreat (an annual event), I was privileged to study with two professional dancers, even though I had only been training for 5 months. This highlighted how Ma*Shuqa's method reaches across belly dance styles and speaks to the individual. Ma*Shuqa fosters an environment that is respectful, supportive, and fun but encourages growth and potential. The idea of ever dancing to live music was terrifying, but after instruction with Ma*Shuqa, I feel confident with movements and expressions beyond the limits of choreography. I also recognize the cultural depth of Belly dance, learning the unique techniques and styles related to different regions and musical signatures.
