We came early so that we could attend the class first, which was a bit hard to follow along. I wouldn't call myself naturally coordinated, and the instructor moved faster than some of us could catch up. Class was followed by social dancing. Everyone was very friendly and kind, and plenty of wonderful leads were very gracious with dancing with me. Would come here for more dancing if I lived close by.

We did our lessons over 3 weeks. Christopher took the time to get to know us. We really enjoyed how he incorporated real life lessons and philosophy into his teaching. I have 0 dance experience and he made it easy for someone like me to pick up. In those 5 lessons, I was able to learn the basics of dance as well as choreography for our first dance. Throughout the entire process, he was really patient and encouraging. It was clear that he was happy and excited to see the progress made over the 3 weeks. The place itself always seems packed. They have group dance classes as well as private instructors. Definitely seems like the place to be to learn how to dance!

I'm an adult beginner and have been taking classes here for a couple months. This place is very…read morespecial, with a lot of intention and care put into the community by teachers and students alike. The teachers help us feel supported, give specific feedback and demonstrate commitment to our growth as dancers. There are opportunities to perform and most importantly to develop a connection with your body and with others who are also on this journey.

Los Gatos Ballet is my favorite ballet school. I wish I had discovered it much earlier. I tried so…read moremany ballet classes from Lines Ballet in SF when I used to live there, to a dozen ballet schools in South Bay in the last two years. The teachers here are the best. They are so friendly and knowledgeable. They can explain alignment and movement down to the muscles and bones, e.g., pelvis and tail bone alignment. No other teachers had explained it so thoroughly. Their barre and combinations are fun and challenging enough so that every time I feel I learned something new. I usually take Monday drop-in adult class with Laura and Friday class with Marcie. Marcie and Laura helped correct my problem of overarching my chest effectively. Before, other teachers had mentioned I overarched. But I didn't quite know to what extent or how to do it otherwise. I see it's a common issue with many amateur dancers because everyone wants to try it hard and be expressive. Marcie padded my stiff chest. Laura corrected me with friendly smiles. I learned from them that I should brace my rib cage instead of opening my chest, but broaden my upper back and collar bone instead. Marcie also showed how to relax my face and neck and use breathing effectively with every plie. These all tremendously helped my alignment and balance so that I have become stronger for so many moves including arabesque and develope. I used to get back pain from overarching and pinching my back muscle. Not anymore. What a life saver! I feel I am a stronger and more elegant amateur ballet dancer now. It's definitely hard to seriously tackle ballet at my age of 50. But I feel I gradually improve. I even started to choreograph my own solo to music I love. Ballet nurtures my mind and also exercises my body. I want to keep dancing it for the rest of my long life.

Los Gatos Ballet's Pre Ballet program is a great introduction to movement and musicality.

Also amazing is the placement of dancers who pay for private lessons always seem to be much more prominently showcased. One particular teacher is quite bipolar, yelling one week and 'i brought donuts' the next, our kids are downright frighted by A. While most of the instructors here are very professional, supportive, and put the best dancers in the front, sometimes you can really tell who the 'golden child' is (sometimes as obvious as the offspring of a faculty) by how they will always be featured and front and center. New for 2025 is their SPOTLIGHT Award, which will be handed out by staff to the most Above and Beyond, and who do you think those will go to? Betting right now the same set of insiders that already get the best spots. There are also many extra fees and costs that are just added to your account without asking: including a year end 'pizza party celebration' that didn't include any actual pizza, 'team bonding' events like going to a movie, or 60second Holiday performance AND a season end show that require more makeup, shoes & costume purchases. I guess kids had a great time but no thought by staff on costs parents have to pay for these add-on. Updated to add: make sure your kid keeps an eye on their things... I've heard recently that several things have gone missing, wallets & phones gone through, cash & clothing stolen. Given the size of the number of studios I suppose there's no way to do a locker system but the casualness of the staff response to the thefts was a little troubling. I had to hear about it from the dancers as nothing was ever mentioned to the parents. Youd be better off at a smaller, more caring studio, IMO.
