Before we booked, we had a free consultation with him and he made sure to ask all the right questions to get a good feel of what we wanted to do for our wedding dance: what kind of music we liked, what our experience is, what kind of dress I was wearing, etc. He even offered to remix some songs together if we didn't have a single song in mind. He wanted to make sure that we were comfortable with whatever dance happened. He's also Italian and we're having our wedding in Italy, so it felt like fate to meet him! We ended up booking 10 lessons with Giovanni. After we decided on a song, within the first lesson, we already had a good 30 seconds choreographed. He was patient with us both, as neither of us had dance experience, and he really listened to us on what we were comfortable doing. He also shortened our song choice so that our first dance was within a reasonable timeframe. Within 4 lessons, our entire dance was choreographed! We spent the rest of the lessons perfecting, tweaking, and refining every possible moment! It really put us at ease for when we finally hit the dance floor. Another really awesome thing about Giovanni is that since he does a lot of weddings, he is always thinking about a number of things to make sure that the dance is beautiful, but also that the photos captured are perfect! He took a lot of videos for us so we can watch and practice at home. He also made sure to tell us when we'd have good "photo moments" where we should perfect our poses for the quick moment our photographer will have to snap a pic. And he even recommended sending a video to our photographer with recommendations on photo moments, so the photographer can get familiar with the dance ahead of time. In general, Giovanni is so kind, patient, and incredibly fun to be around and we cannot recommend him enough as a wedding dance instructor!!

Also amazing is the placement of dancers who pay for private lessons always seem to be much more prominently showcased. One particular teacher is quite bipolar, yelling one week and 'i brought donuts' the next, our kids are downright frighted by A. While most of the instructors here are very professional, supportive, and put the best dancers in the front, sometimes you can really tell who the 'golden child' is (sometimes as obvious as the offspring of a faculty) by how they will always be featured and front and center. New for 2025 is their SPOTLIGHT Award, which will be handed out by staff to the most Above and Beyond, and who do you think those will go to? Betting right now the same set of insiders that already get the best spots. There are also many extra fees and costs that are just added to your account without asking: including a year end 'pizza party celebration' that didn't include any actual pizza, 'team bonding' events like going to a movie, or 60second Holiday performance AND a season end show that require more makeup, shoes & costume purchases. I guess kids had a great time but no thought by staff on costs parents have to pay for these add-on. Updated to add: make sure your kid keeps an eye on their things... I've heard recently that several things have gone missing, wallets & phones gone through, cash & clothing stolen. Given the size of the number of studios I suppose there's no way to do a locker system but the casualness of the staff response to the thefts was a little troubling. I had to hear about it from the dancers as nothing was ever mentioned to the parents. Youd be better off at a smaller, more caring studio, IMO.

She worked with us to choreograph a dance to our first dance song and tailored it according to what we were comfortable with along with our dance skills (none). She was incredibly friendly and flexible with scheduling our lessons when we weren't able to make it on the initial proposed dates. Working with her made us less nervous and she was very encouraging even though dancing was new to us. As we practiced more, Jenn incorporated more elements if she felt that we could handle it and I'm really glad she was so encouraging and helpful because we would have just ended up swaying on the dancefloor to the beat, which would have been fine but not as impressive. Even though we kept our dance rather simple, we had so many guests compliment us on our dance and tell us how elegant and professional it looked. All of the teachers are welcoming and friendly. If you go often, they'll know you by name. Dancers come in all levels of experience. I love that Purdance offers ADULT classes and not "teen/adult" - let's keep it that way! I'm so happy for this dance community! Shoutouts to my current main teachers: Rubi - great for beginners, thorough, hilarious - also got tricks and techniques up her sleeve that will wow you! Audrey - intermediate on a good day and advanced on a butt-kicking day! Fast and long choreo - sooo good for the soul. Jessica - hardest for me but also the most beautiful choreo! I've only started taking her contemporary class more consistently but if you want a challenge, sign up here :) Honorary shoutout to Mr. Angel, who was my go-to before, during and after the pandemic, up until he quit. I cannot recommend this dance studio for parents looking to lift up young girls…read more My daughter was interested in Kpop dancing, and is in an awkward bubble age of being too old (~10) for the "mini" class and at the cusp of too young for the"Junior" pre-teen class. She definitely isn't a great dancer, but she practices and tries her hardest. This is just a fun class for girls, not elite or comp. Things started off well but then she started leaving with tears in her eyes. She says that the teacher was leaving her out of the routine and so she was sitting around most of the time, not understanding why. No explanation. I urgently asked for a callback to understand the situation. No callback. I asked the teacher, Mr Garret, next week in person. He says she wasn't getting it but he would include her more. I asked him to speak to her about her so she could feel supported and understand and how she can improve. He says he didn't have time to talk to her and said he would next week. He never did. Not excusable. My daughter continued to come back with tears in her eyes. She says that 2 other girls were giggling and laughing when she made a mistake. She didn't want to make a fuss or quit before the performance. The performance came, and she fell behind in the rehearsal. She told me a few days later that everyone laughed at her. She just did box breathing to focus and did great in the performance. It was a proud moment for our family. *I then receive an email saying that she needs to go to the class where she is overaged OR just take the SAME class but on a different day to free up space for a better dance*. Reason: she wasn't dancing well enough; wasn't fitting in socially; the class was "full" and she's kicked out. Wait, she's still being invited to the same skill but on a different day despite being a bad dancer? I was shocked and disappointed. Instead of optimizing for the culture of the class, they instead optimize against the student for not fitting in. She's not a great dancer, but she's young, tried hard, and was trying to fit in even with tears in her eyes every day. We have dropped Purdance with no hesitation and she now uses her experience as her way of being able to hold her breath to perform amidst an unsupportive environment.
