Updating because my husband and I have now been students here for 3.5 years. It's not a perfect five stars but at this point I can definitely round up. Let's start with the less good- here's what I didn't know going in to Arthur Murray when we bought a Living Social- they are the most expensive of the many different brands teaching Ballroom dancing. That said, they are very very well established and have an excellent reputation in the global dance world. The per lesson price is higher than what I've seen else where but we got hooked on our instructors here and ended up staying. The sales pitches aren't my favorite but this studio does offer specials more often than other Arthur Murray studios and the prices at the Florida studios are less than they are in other markets. That said, the instructors I've had here for group lessons have been fantastic- all of them, even with the staff changes over the years. Our private instructor Frankie is amazing and we have had so much fun dancing with him over the years. He has choreographed our wedding dance and a few showcase dances. The other students here are really friendly and it feels like a family. We moved from the area and still come back monthly for lessons because Arthur Murray Winter Park is really a home away from home for us at this point. My husband and I wanted a hobby we could do together and while we've spent a LOT of money on it over the years, it's been worth every penny. There will always be more to learn. Ballroom dance isn't easy but the instructors here have been patient and have worked with us endlessly on technique, form and we've learned at least ten different types of dances at this point (rumba, cha cha, swing, hustle, tango, fox trot, west coast swing, salsa, bachata, merengue, bolero, waltz, viennese waltz, samba line dance...). There's more they teach too- there are always more steps and things to work on. The possibilities are endless. We've had a lot of fun with the Friday night parties (social dancing), the non dancing events, and costume contests over the years in addition to our lessons. Overall, if you're serious about learning to ballroom dance, I'd recommend Arthur Murray and specifically Arthur Murray Winter Park! read more

We loved our experience at this dance studio! We signed up for lessons for our first Dance from Groupon not knowing what to expect and what lessons were like. We got Franky, who is amazing! We ended up signing up for a package, although pricey, our First Dance was completely choreographed by Franky with every second of our song. We even came up with a couple of ideas, and he built them into our dance. He was so easy to work with, and patient. We were so happy with our experience, and our First Dance was one of the favorite parts of our wedding thanks to them! It was a hit. read more

I called the Conroy and Winter Park locations to see if I could make an appointment for a group lesson on a Saturday but neither studio answered the phone so instead of leaving a voicemail, I sent both of them messages thru their website. The Conroy location emailed me back first within a few hours and simply stated they are not open on the weekends. However, I received a call from the Winter Park location shortly after and spoke with a helpful and friendly gentleman named Steven. I explained that I wanted to learn a dance or two for my birthday and had a few friends that were interested too. He said that they could accommodate us on Saturday (which was 3 days later) and gave me pricing details based on how many people were participating. I was very happy that we could come after such a short notice and that it was also very affordable! He told us to wear comfortable clothing and for us ladies, we could wear heels as long as they weren't too high and the guys could wear whatever shoes they would normally go out in. Steven was also very helpful in recommending which dances to do based on my interest. I told him I wanted to learn the swing and he said we could do the hustle as well as they often go hand in hand. We would have an hour total and learn both for 30 minutes each. Myself, husband, and friends were excited but a little nervous about our upcoming lesson as none of us have ever danced either dance before, had ever taken professional lessons, or while some just plain thought they were rhythmically challenged. However, once we got there, we were warmly greeted by Steven and introduced to our instructor, Lindsey, and all of our nervousness went away. They could not have made us feel more relaxed and at ease. Before our lesson started I asked if it was possible to see both dances in their entirety so we could get a feel of what we were going to learn and Steven and Lindsey both happily obliged. They danced wonderful together and made it look so fun, albeit a little difficult. They advised us not to worry about learning everything we just saw as they did some more advanced moves. After a few short introductions of ourselves Lindsey began her lesson. She was fun, encouraging, positive, energetic, friendly, and a great teacher! She took her time teaching us the steps in an easy manner and patiently went over any questions or missteps we had along the way. It was also nice that we switched partners all throughout the lesson. Halfway thru it, she offered us some wine which was a pleasant surprise and a welcomed break. We downed it quickly as we were eager to get back to our learning. The hour went by SO QUICK! As they say, time flies when you are having fun and that we did! All in all, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place to anyone interested in learning a new dance or just wants to try something different! My husband and I wanted to take some dance lessons for something fun to do in our spare time. Let me start by saying the instructors here are excellent. Our teacher is Franky. After just four private lessons we are feeling very confident with the Rumba, Hustle and Cha Cha. Franky taught my husband how to lead me on the dance floor which makes the dance feel more effortless and allows us to improvise on the dance floor. Without the private lessons I don't think you would be able to achieve this. You might learn some steps but not the techniques that make dancing really really fun. On most Friday nights they have a party with complementary drinks and snacks. I was impressed by the nice selection of wine, beer and liquor that they had at the party. They didn't skimp on the refreshments. Also, all of the instructors are present at the parties and they make a point to get everyone out on the dance floor. It also gave us a chance to experience dancing with other partners, and just a fun night out on the town that is different from the typical. So, the only reason I would not give this studio five stars is because of the way you have to purchase lessons. You have to purchase a package with one private lesson, one group lesson, and one party. It would be nice if you could purchase the lessons in whatever way worked for you. There is a little bit of a feeling of a sales transaction too, as they talk with you about the class options for purchase. If you are wanting to learn to dance and you need a place that will definitely be effective, I can say with confidence that you will learn quickly with Franky, or likely any of the instructors here. If you are trying to dance for a specific purpose, such as a wedding, you will be in good hands. read more

My husband got an intro pack of lessons for us for my birthday, and it's been the best present I've ever gotten! We have so much fun, we signed up for more. The instructor group is fantastic. We are taught by Jayson in private lessons, but all the group teachers have been great, as well. It's been so much fun at parties to be able to dance "for real." I was worried about my abilities, but it is broken down in such a way that even I have been able to pick up things that six months ago I would have thought impossible. read more

If you are looking to learn how to dance, this is the place to go! I came here with my fiance to help us with your first dance for our wedding. We had Cynthia as our instructor, and she is a delight! She's teaching us Rumba and Waltz. Everyone at the studio is very friendly and knowledgeable. We definitely have a new skill that won't be hard to forget! They offer several packages to your comfort level. They include private, group and social lessons. You can pick which will work best for you. We had Jayson as our instructor for our wedding dance and he was so skilled and focused (and patient) that he really put us at ease. In our first session, he listen to our song and told us that we would dancing a foxtrot and we immediately into the basic steps. My (now husband) doesn't have great coordination and I am a control freak so it took some time just to get him leading and me following but Jayson made us trust each other even more. We really got our money's worth and had a great time doing it. We received a ton of compliments on our dance the day of and we were incredibly proud of what we accomplished in just a short time with Jayson! It felt great to be so confident and prepared for our dance. I seriously loved going here for lessons. We had an instructor that was thorough with both of us in teaching the basic tango steps. I want to go back and learn more. Very friendly staff and no pressure to buy. They just walk you through their packages and payment options and it's up to you on how much you want to spend to get good up-close instruction. Throughout the whole stressful wedding planning process seeing Frankie at Arthur Murray each week for 'our time' was what kept me going. He not only choreographed a beautiful dance routine to our wedding song but taught us different styles of dance that allowed us to feel confident on the dance floor. To be honest at times I would question paying what is cost to have the best dance studio but looking back on our wedding day, dancing was the only time I felt truly joined together with my new husband and it gave us a chance to block out all the people around us, slow down and just be one. We are truly grateful for Frankie and the rest of the instructors at Arthur Murray. And to any couple's that may be questioning if it's worth the money please please take my advice, move around your budget because it will be the ONE thing at your wedding that is truly for you. read more

Learning to ballroom dance with my fiancé at the time at Arthur Murray was such a great experience. Not only was I able to learn how to connect better with the man who is now my husband but it was also a comfortable environment to where when I made a mistake it was more entertaining for me than frustrating. The dancers there are really good, I couldn't help but just sit there and watch some of the them pratice with professional dancers. Jayson is a fabulous teacher. We have been learning variations of swing (east, west, and lindy hop), as well as the hustle. He is a very enjoyable teacher and explains concepts in a way that makes sense. We have also checked out many of the other teachers in group lessons and find pretty much everyone who works there to be simply AMAZING... It is great to mix up private and group lessons because you get different techniques and styling moves from different teachers. Forget one of the group teacher's name but he has an awesome sense of humor (comparing dance moves to car salesmen moves "showing off a brand new car" and sports moves, which really makes the new moves stick in your memory). Also, Jayson follows what you do in group lessons to round out your experience in the privates, answering questions and/or reviewing moves. So far we have only made it to one of the dance parties but this is great to learn how to pair the right dance with the tempo of the music. If only, we were millionaires....we would be there every night of the week ; ) The classes have been a great way for us to carve out time for us as a couple while we care for young children. Unfortunately, because we have young children, we are unable to practice between lessons but find the teachers to be sensitive to us "slow learners". Dance was something I previously did and loved but totally new for my husband. I felt like all the instructors really reached out to my husband to make him feel comfortable and build his confidence. read more
