This is a quick stop off the Hwy and was perfect for a quick lunch with good food. The staff was very friendly and the place was neat and clean. I was excited about what looked like a salad bar in a lot of the photos, but that is no longer there. Hubby and I each had a 4" round and it was the perfect size. The ingredients were fresh and the bread was fantastic! I'm not really a bread person and this was so good, I had to ask about it. Apparently, it comes from a local bakery just down the street. Next time, we will factor in extra time on our stop, so we can check the bakery out as well. We also decided to try a couple of sides. Hubby had the potato salad and I tried the chicken noodle soup. They were both solid choices. For dessert, we had a cheesecake and bought a dark chocolate turtle for the ride. The cheesecake was good and I'm sure the turtle will not disappoint. So fresh, the sandwiches look very appealing and taste even better. The pasta salad is a must try and also the broccoli Parmesan soup was wonderful. I have visited multiple times and never had a bad meal or bad service. I brought two friends this time and they both really enjoyed the food. For looking like a small place there are several tables with plenty of room. Not for a group but a party of 4 will sit comfortably. i have lived in this area for awhile with my boyfriend, and he LOVES Arthur's.. well i went today to get him a sandwich, and i ordered it like normal, except this time they put mustard on it. My boyfriend is allergic to mustard, so when i took it home and seen it I called them instantly. The lady answered the phone and I was able to tell her that he couldnt eat it because of the mustard, and she told me she "took the order and i asked for it".. (when in 4 years Mustard hasnt even been in our house.) and proceeded with so i will not being giving you a refund. Wow just wow. I have never had an interaction like this, and will just drive to sterling.. so anybody else thinking about going here.. save your money drive 6 more miles and go to Arthurs in sterling! This little place has quite a bigger impact on me than I imagined. The sandwiches were made rather quickly, cooked perfectly and they did not hold back on the amount of meet compared to other delis I have gone to. I also got a soup from their 3-5 options, it tasted as if it was homemade, very delicious. The size proportions threw me off, being 4in or 7in, but the comparison was just as filling as getting a half or a foot long from subway. The only drawback I had was that they are not open on Sundays, so when I am visiting family for the weekend I guess I will have to drop in here before visiting them. read more

I was absolutely disappointed I bough a corn beef and cheese 7 inch sub and potato sou I was so disappointed when I got home with my dinner. I was able to see the bread thru the thin slice of meat on the sandwich. The soup was watery and thin. I saved 1/2 of my sandwich and expressed my disappointment. There are several other restaurants in the area that I would and have recommended. This appears to me to not surviving a generation transition. Driving through from California, I was pleasantly surprised to find a "fast food" with vegetarian options. I ordered the veggie cheese 4" with regular toppings and OMG it was the BEST vegetarian sandwich I've ever had!! I normally take off one side of the bread when I eat a sandwich but this bun was so light & fluffy and DELICIOUS!! Inside restaurant was cute, small, & clean and staff was so nice!! Unfortunately, no pix of my sandwich but of the vegetarian pasta salad (yum!) and dark chocolate pecan turtle (so so). The salad bar was also a surprise, with verdant and crisp lettuce, spinach, and cucumber. The dressings were also clearly made on site daily. But the best part of the place were the little things. The really pleasant staff were all friendly and helpful, and their care for their work was evident in the little Easter decorations that adorned each table. I regularly travel on I 88 and see the Arthur's deli billboard with intrigue. I have stopped exactly two times. The first time was great, when I parked and went inside for my order. The second time I decided to drive through, which was a major FAIL. I ordered a turkey sub with lettuce, tomato, and deli mustard. Unfortunately what I received was a bun with turkey on it and nothing else. REALLY???? The only reason this review gets more than one star is that the bread is amazing and my husband's sub was prepared as ordered. After getting back on 88 and driving several miles, I realized the error of the order. So I called just to let them know about the situation, and the manager (sounded about 12) was clueless, not apologetic and did not even say sorry for the error. As soon as we saw signs for Arthur's, we knew what we were having for lunch. And we were starving... we hadn't eaten for several hours, since waking in Chicago and sort of pigging-out before the long ride... The options at Arthur's aren't super abundant, but they do cover a few basic areas. Prime roast beef is a solid that any roast beef consumer will immediately notice and appreciate, and they have several ham and turkey options. The Italian didn't offer prosecution or coppa, but I'm sure it is delicious. The food here is definitely homemade and simple, but totally original. The roast beef was delicious, with great cheese and the included veggies were a plus. We got potato salad which tasted great, well balanced and fresh. It was refreshing to find Arthur's. Anyone from a big city will know what I'm talking about if they too find themselves driving cross-country... a big plus at Arthur's? It was perhaps the most inexpensive meal on our trip! I mean, cheaper than trip to Taco Bell or McDonalds even... that made it all the more special and memorable, that we both ate comfortably for under $10. Highly recommended! read more
