    Tamale Festival & Michilada! Yes!!
    Marcos D.

I returned for the postponed Tamale festival, this time it was actually raining so only two vendors were here. I had too many excellent tamales and the best Michilada in town!

Although maybe not your first choice when selecting a place to go drink when you're in downtown, San Antonio, Artisan needs to be up for consideration for one of THE most Vibey places to be at. First off, let me say, the fact that this distillery creates and serves their own drinks should make you feel like trying their menu alone! Secondly, there's 3-4 different areas to mingle depending on what night you go- Why? Because they also do their own events such as anime nights every other Friday, and an affordable comedy show with up-and-coming artists. Guaranteed there is a night here that you'll enjoy- just check out their Instagram to see what events are coming up! See you there!! P.S. it's down the street from Lucky Duck and Social Spot.

Came for their sip and shop on Sunday. They had an amazing cucumber watermelon lemonade. The venue is very cute and they have indoor and outdoor seating. Very nice bartenders. They have tabletop games you can play which you sip on your cocktail.

Stopped in for the Tamale Festival on Sunday, December 5, 2021. Nice to see the area's new bars and restaurants that you can walk to from Alamo Beer. We got a couple dozen tamales and order Gin drinks for the ladies and guys got the straight whiskey. The gin drinks were priced at the craft drink price of $9.50, while the straight whiskey was $14. Thought the whiskey was a little high in price, so next time I'll stick with a craft cocktail. Liked the outside patio area as we sipped our drinks and ate spicy pork and been and cheese tamales.

The good: Decent downtown location and parking isn't too tough in this area. The vibe inside is chill, and it's a clean joint. Comfy chairs and couches to lounge on, and they have a nice little patio. The tour of the distillery is very informative. The owner explains all the magic that goes into making the perfect vodka. Unfortunately, the good ends there. I'm not a liquor aficionado by any means, but every time drink "A" or drink "B" was ordered, it was an entirely different taste and even a different color (it just depends on who you order it from). At one point, I ordered the Hillbilly Moonshine, and the bartender asked me where I saw that one. I had to show the menu and the ingredients to him. What??? The "consistent inconsistency" with the drinks causes them to lose 3 full stars.

Fantastic gem. Came in right at opening and eavesdropped on a tour wrapping up. Fantastic spirits. Had the bourbon neat, wow!!! Got a quick tour and bottle out own vodka bottles with a custom signature. Awesome experience!! Looking forward to going back.

My partner and I visited this bar initially to do a craft cocktail class offered there but stayed after for a few drinks. The class was at 4 pm and parking was easy at that time. Their free parking lot fits about 35 cars, other than that there is free street parking and $2 parking under the nearby bridge. The class was very organized, informational and fun. The owner himself conducted the class and taught us about how certain liquors are made, how to use different bar utensils and walked us through making three delicious craft cocktails with his house-made Vodka, Whiskey and Gin respectively. All of their alcohols were incredibly smooth and available to purchase at the bar. After a great class I had a refreshing strawberry Vodka lemonade and my partner had a whiskey cocktail with a cinnamon stick that he enjoyed. They use all fresh Ingredients in their drinks which really comes across in the flavor. The location is cozy, has indoor and outdoor seating, features bands, comedians, Anime nights and vendor nights as well. We purchased a bottle of Vodka before we left and definitely plan to come back again.

Artisan is one of those places I never would have visited on my own. I rarely drink and it seems a little sketchy from the outside. But I met up with a group here for a holiday party and it ended up being pretty cool. It's a distillery and bar, and they only pour what they make (vodka and moonshine). Tours are available, reservations recommended, and Nick was very friendly and informative. Cocktail list is extensive and seasonal. I tried the Backwoods Blackberry (marinated fruit, "Chupacabra Juice" moonshine, club soda, house infusion) and the Pumpkin Spice Martini (made with cold brew and their Texas Pride vodka), preferring the former over the latter. The Lemon Drop was highly recommended by others, and we were all in agreement that drinks were strong. Come by on Thursday for all-day happy hour with $5 drinks!

I came here for an event (Drink and Click) and it was during Happy Hour. The place was full of photographers, models and equipment so of course no tours were given. However, it was nice to sit back and enjoy the scenery, the photographers at work, bartenders at work and models at work. I found it kind of weird there were kids there but whatever. There is also a patio area where you can sit outside and it was a beautiful night. I had a lemon drop martini and because it was happy hour it was only $5.00. It was the bartenders first day and he did a fantastic job!!! I like this place and would definitely come back if I were in the mood for some vodka.

A few weeks ago my friends at Variety's Brunch on wheels had a teacher appreciation brunch. As per usual we enjoyed some bar favorites. I bought a bottle of whisky to go. Cheers

This was amazing! Nick gave a fantastic tour! I learned a few things and tasted some delicious spirits. The spirits were absolutely amazing. A definite must for locals or out of towners.

Was in the area with friends & we stumbled upon this place. Stopped in for one drink, pickle martini & a twist on an old fashion. We sat outside & ended up making new friends while playing Jenga, it turned out to be a pretty cool spot to have a drink.

At 10:59 an employee, supposedly a manager, behind the bar, not assisting with any closing duties, rudely said in a loud voice " We're closing and shutting off the TV" Before that was said there was 50 seconds left in the game and we were putting on our coats. I said in response "this place sure has changed." Last time I encountered such rudeness was at the restaurant Ocho, also near the Riverwalk. They are now out of business. We will not be returning, sometime in the future we will look in to see if this person is still working here (though we have not seen her do much working besides lurk behind the bar and the ladies room door. My main reason for trying out wild barley was because they have sour beers, it wasnt the best sour beer i have ever had, but i have noticed in Texas the sour beers have a strange taste to them that i cant quite put my finger on.
